The webslinging is actually the best part of the anime. I can't think of any other anime that does webslinging as well as AoT

The "humans becoming titans" thing is what's overplayed if anything. It breaks the underdog theme. My biggest gripe of the show is that the Titans go from being too terrifying for trained soldiers to even look at to being killed on a whim by gung-ho teens.
