Magia Erebea gets introduced again, any hope for this manga?
Where is the negima cast or their descendants? BORING
And nun chan doesnt count.
I don't see why everyone is so hitched on him immediately tying it into negima.
If negima was any indicator, he will do it slowly, just enjoy the story for what it is an stop holding it up as negima 2.0.
If they tied Magia Erebea to immortality, there's a chance that Negi is still alive.
Everyone stopped caring long, long ago.
I'm still mad after negima ending.
I bought the entire negima series after it finished
And pre-ordered UQ 1/2
If Magia Erebea is hereditary and grants you immortality, how the fuck did Touta's father/mother die?
Actually, how did Touta die in the first place and require resurrection as a vampire? Why does he need DOUBLE immortality?
Even assuming that Magia Erebea style immortality doesn't give you invincibility a la Eva's vampirism it still makes you pretty fucking durable and gives you high speed regeneration. The injuries that Touta and his parents sustained in the flashback didn't look anywhere near as bad as the shit Negi went through during the magic world arc.
If it is hereditary, it may still require some addition steps to get it to be anything notable or to 'activate' it
Remember that Eva's vampirism was an offshoot of an experiment Magia Erebea's true creator did on her. It doesn't have to mean he inherited it from Negi.
They were attacked and killed by the big bad. Negi, too.
What happened to the
>Magia Erebea now is a bad thing
Admit it, you guys just think that everything Negima related is insta-shit because you didnt like the ending
Also its a curse. Its hereditary, it was to be expected.
>Admit it, you guys just think that everything Negima related is insta-shit because you didnt like the ending
But it's true, right?
I was implying that Magia Erebea may be the hope for UQ Holder
unless akamatsu breaks his own rules
>Remember that Eva's vampirism was an offshoot of an experiment Magia Erebea's true creator did on her.
Wat. Lifemaker doesn't have anything to do with ME. It was Eva's own invention.
>It doesn't have to mean he inherited it from Negi.
He doesn't HAVE to have inherited it from Negi, but it's pretty fucking likely he did, seeing how Chao has the same curse.
Negima was good at some point, but UQ Holder still hasn't given me a compelling reason to keep reading. Acting like any Negima influence is toxic is retarded.
I dont know.
UQ holder isnt bad.
but damn, I really dislike Kouta, shitty MC on a rather fine series
One odd thing I noticed this chapter is the fact that Kuroumaru can apparently regenerate his CLOTHES as well.
And here I was thinking he'd finish regeneration and be left pantsless for fanservice/humor purposes.
I hope Ken will drop this shounen fightan garbage and make another Love Hina.
She was definitely pantsless. If you look at the third panel here, you see him pull some new pants out of a magic app container.
In one panel you can see him making some kind of magic circle that he pulls his new clothes out of. He's either got some kind of clothes-generating technique or a storage dimension.
why because he's fearless and genki? at least he has good fightan sense and intuition, i'll take that over "normal guy who just tries hard" or "idiotic mc with secret hidden ability but amnesia" any day
After that betrayal Akamatsu pulled with Negima there's no way in hell I'm going to get invested in one of his series again.
It's simple. Touta isn't actually a Springfield but a lab experiment of some sort.
Crap I didn't notice that.
His shoes magically come out of nowhere from one panel to the next though.
Because he's as generic as it goes:
>dashing hero kid with healing factor, not that smart but full of courage and smiles
Fuck this, even the way he's designed is terribly bland.
They forgot to equip it. Always gotta equip those skills to benefit from them you know.
I wish he'd act more like Konoka, since Kuro is basically Setsuna 2.0.
Less blithe and naive hero and more teasing.
>lines between your greentexts
>greentext arrows on those lines
>spaces between your arrows and the first letter
stop that reddit, if you're going to insist on posting here then learn to do it right.
But Konoka was generally boring.
A male Konoka would be far worse.
Touta is already pretty much a male Konoka.
Which is why he's shit.
He does tease Kuro a lot during the downtime chapters when they're together.
I have a feeling there will be other female leads introduced soon enough, which would require Touta to be more naive so that the shippers could attach him to them more easily.
If he's going to tease Kuro endlessly then it becomes a locked-in situation like konoka and setsuna. That was fine for those two since they were side-characters made with that ship in mind, but the MC always needs to have their possibilities kept open if the author is going to pander to shippers.
Im sorry hes actually not that shit.
In all honesty he's like a combo of Negi's caring and friendly nature and Kota's brash-fullness and eccentricity.
Its a winning combo for me, im just waiting for the acceleration into the main plot.
Touta and Kuro and feels pretty much locked in though, despite Eva trying to ship him with Karin.
I have a feeling Akamatsu is going to pair the spares rather than go the harem route this time around.
It's been a long time so maybe I'm mistaken, but wasn't Negi pretty strongly attached to Asuna way back in the beginning too? The harem just got slowly worked into it and Asuna became the reliable fallback option.
Actually wasn't Magia Erebea supposed to work by having the user cast an offensive spell which is then complexio'd and converted into stats boost? How would Touta have done that when he's not a magician and didn't use any apps?
A strong platonic attachment.
He had an obvious crush on Konoka in the first few volumes.
And then Asuna turned out to be his not-aunt and they became platonic life partners instead...
Speaking of Asuna, I forget, was she immortal or long-lived or what?
There's also sort of that whole "getting mutated into a demonic entity of darkness" secondary effect, which is where I assume Touta got his arms from.
Since Touta has aged normally up to this point despite having apparently been a magia erebea lesser demon all along, can we take this as confirmation that Negi aged properly and probably can pass away of old age as well?
>Speaking of Asuna
I think you might need to re-read the final saga. She was put into suspension.
I hope the vampire shota and the hood character appear after this arc.
>can we take this as confirmation that Negi aged properly and probably can pass away of old age as well?
It was sort of confirmed this chapter that magia erebea grants immortality. So if Negi died it probably wasn't from old age. He probably aged normally up to a certain point thouhg.
But it was fun.
Hey you supported Negima for years, right?
You want to see girls future adventures and learn with who Negi ended?
Tough luck, they all are dead or grannies.
Negi had a kid with someone, Konoka too had one, but with who?
Also main boy is their direct descendanant.
Akamatsu is maximum troll.
What do you mean? The first 3ish pages are about how this is a continuation. The MC's grandpa is Negi. How is it not tied to Negima?
I wanna see more about the power of the girl with the "save point". sounds like a cool power.
The hooded character being Filius Zect
>Konoka too had one, but with who?
explains a lot about why Touta is the way he is.
I wish. I certainly wanted to see more about him and why he sided with the human side.
Immortality just means they won't die of old age and are really hard to kill right?
They can still die if someone with sufficient power kills them.
Akamatsu is the only one manga artist that I used to love and sincerely wants to see failing now. Fuck that cunt.
Didn't they explain this in like, the first pages of chapter 1?
Immortal = Living forever naturally but can be killed
Invincible = Natural lifespan but cannot be killed
If this was about invincibles instead of immortals, there would probably be no need for yukyuu hunters.
If it's possible for you to live indefinitely, then you're immortal. Regardless of circumstances.
Why does everyone in the manga circlejerk so hard about whether someone is immortal or not if non immortals can be just as strong.
Konoka + Setsuna = girl baby, that girl marries with Koutarou son, and their son heir to Konoka family name marries Negi daughter(that daughter has white/blonde hair),
that pairing are Touta parents
Kurou seems to age or at least if sHe doesn't sHe would forever stay genderless.
>3 generations on konoka's side in the same time negi's side only gets 2
damn them konoe's really must like going at it
Pissed me off.
This kid's been a vampire for what? A week? And he unlocked the Magia Erebea? After it took Negima that long to master it?
Fuck it. Fuck everything.
Cowboy Bebop figured out his computer in a week, you know.
According to tumblr, the proper pronoun is Xe, lel.
It seems like Kuro's clan stops aging after a certain point, probably.
I really hope Kaito is the son of Kotarou.
Touta will probably forgive him, and then has to prove something to UQ Holder again hopefully introducing more characters.
Ayaka confirmed for winning da Negib owl?
Recessive trait anyone? Maybe the gene that transfers the magic isn't dominant.
and that guy Bleach knew how to use his sword right away
Blow me faggot.
It's in the blood. Negi also had Nagi's super genes.
Yes he was hardworking but you can't tell me he wasn't talentless.
Kuro's clan doesn't share his immortality.
Though being youkai they're probably longlived.
More like Ayaka's daughter won Negi.
Negi sort of saddled all his descendants with ME genes you know.
Only if you're cute.
I think the pace is too fast, but the character types are radically different. Touta resembles Nagi much more than Negi. Whereas Negi's strength lay in his research and deductive abilities, Touta in an intuitive fighter who grows as he fights. Negi's mid-battle powerups were pretty much all pre-planned; he spent lots of leg work crafting spells, developing strategies, and training his basic competencies.
Agree, Nagi/Touta seemed to have a knack for fightan whereas Negi had to be tutored.
Is the fucking wolf a descendant of kotarou and natsumi?
not every character you see will be a descendant of people you know from Negima
Is akamatsu the guy knows what he is doing
Inugami != werewolf
>Why does he need DOUBLE immortality?
Yeah, it would be like if you were already dead and a ghost and you had a power that let you die again.
unless the translation was just bad, this new guy was introduced as a werewolf, and that's not what Kotarou was
I get the feeling that if the Touta x Kuro ship actually becomes a thing Touta will confess to Kuro before actually realizing he's not a man.
Which will cause Kuro to turn into a girl.
Which will cause Touta to become confused.
Which will cause Kuro to run away thinking that Touta hates her now for lying to him all this time. Even though Touta isn't that type of person.
And dumb misunderstandings will happen until someone clears it all up.
>Nocht: Is this nigga serious
Because that's pretty much what I'd be like if a ghost just told me "currently I'm not alive".
>And dumb misunderstandings will happen until someone clears it all up.
Karin will have no problems delivering those hammer blows.
Magia Erebea isn't something inherent to being a vampire, it's an acquired magic.
so then let me see if I have this straight
Eva = double immortal (vampire + erebea)
Negi = immortality due to magia erebea
Touta = immortality due to vampirism, plus has an incomplete erebea on the side
that's what we thought from Negima, but that wouldn't explain at all how Touta supposedly got it.
Something like that I guess
Having ME doesn't make you immortal, but constant use will change you into something along the lines of a magical creature without a normal human mortality. It is very possibly (and perhaps very likely) that Touta and his mother carried the propensity and the constitution for ME but never had reason or occasion to activate it, thus precluding any life-extending effects.
Also, ME feeds on dark and gloomy thoughts. Negi was full of them, but Touta seems pretty upbeat most of the time. Tots might not be as inclined towards it.
Well we don't know if Eva's Erebea is "complete" or not.
Possibly her being a vampire prevented the whole "encroachment of Magea Erebea" thing from happening in the first place.
Negi was originally a human which is why ME turned him into... whatever he became.
And Touta inherited that from Negi.
Negi became immortal through Magia Erebea because using it fucked around with his soul. Maybe soul characteristics are heritable. Didn't Chao also have a knockoff Magia Erebea of sorts?
It's not inherent to being a vampire, but it's something that can be inherited.
It isn't inherent to vampirism, but it was developed by Eva's experiments with her vampiric body. It also appears to be passed genetically, as evidenced by Touta and Chao Lingshen.
How are vampires the strongest level of immortality when there are literally gods.
You also need to be in the bloodline of the mage of the beginning, negi would have died if he was just an ordinary human
Chao used artificial tattoos and "circuitry" to force her body to become a conduit for magic. She's incapable of using magic on her own.
Also, Eva never completed Magia Erebea or brought it to a proper state. She used it as a crutch when she was still developing her vampiric powers. She became strong enough to stand without it, so she abandoned Erebea early on. Negi being Negi, he took it to its "final form," being completely transformed by it.
What is "Magia Erebea" I don't remember it was mentioned before in the series
Shinto gods, brah. They'll die if you just stop believing in them.
Eva killed a God, remember? Kyoto arc. Did it really easily, too.
The ultimate "cheat," basically. You abuse shit and break da rules to get really strong really quickly. It'll also probably kill you, or, if you survive, turn you into an (we thought) immortal demon/demihuman.
Chao can use magic, she just isn't as exceptionally strong with it like other characters.
If Negi is immortal...why is he dead?
we wish we knew, but Akamatsu didn't tell us
Explained in Chapter 466 of Negima.
He's dead in the same way Nagi was dead.
As in, he's not dead.
Not everyone here has the patience to read like 500 chapters of Negi.
It's really not that bad for a battle manga.
A magic spell created by eva, being able to absorb offensive magic then consuming it, fusing it with your soul, it (ME) feasting on it (Soul).
Using it too often either turns you into some demonic being or you will die, with the possibility to be revived by the spell when you got some bloodline bullshit
Immortality =/= invincibility.
c.355 (end) by Red Hawk Scanlations (701d ago)
c.354 by Red Hawk Scanlations (706d ago)
c.353 by Red Hawk Scanlations (714d ago)
It was a joke
>Didn't Chao also have a knockoff Magia Erebea of sorts?
Akamatsu was deliberately roundabout when asked that and just said that it's something that shares the "grants power at the cost of physical harm" trait.
From that, it's at least clear that it's not the exact same thing. In fact, Chao's whole schtic runs counter to what happened to Negi: instead of turning into a magic demon who farted death and black lightning, she needed mechanical aids just to use high-level spells.
Magia Erebea did enhance magic casting but one's own stats. Negi shat lightning because he cooked and ate lightning.
I wouldn't be surprised if Chao's tattoos are a reverse-engineered ME. ME internalizes offensive magic by fusing it to the soul, but Chao's tattoos enhanced offensive magic by carving away at her soul.
>but UQ Holder still hasn't given me a compelling reason to keep reading
for me, it is all about the bromance between Touta and his genderless friend.
Did you read Negima?
No but I am now.
>After that betrayal Akamatsu pulled with Negima
Its like retards intentionally try not to learn why Negima was ended early.
That's like saying we shouldn't be mad at the Oriemo author because his publisher censored him.
Yeah. That sounds perfectly rational.
>comparing censoring with losing ownership of your lifes work
I will be so mad if Touta doesn't tap that ass by the end of the series. Ken has a chance to redeem himself after not giving a conclusive end to Negima, he better not screw it up.
>series about immortal people doing immortal things
The best we can hope for is for Ken to finally make the full chain from Negi to Chao.
It's funny too, since if I remember right Rakan mentioned that Negi much more resembled Eva, who became his master, than he did his father or his father's companions.
Chao is Touta's mom[/spoiler
Rakan did mention that, and Eva also said that he didn't resemble his father.
I think the strongest character arc in Negima is how Negi gradually resolves his insecurities about being neither as intuitively gifted or as charismatic as his father.
so, does he have already one or would it grow later?
there is nothing down there at the moment, neither a slit nor a wiener.
how does he piss?
There's nothing down there at all. It doesn't get a gender until it turns 16 which makes no sense considering it's immortal.
>implying Touta didn't cup a feel, and sneak a peek.
>all forms of immortality work the same
shit-tier immortality if you can just die from old age
How does it dispose of excess fluid and nitrogenous waste?
>She's Negis great-grandaughter
Touta is Negis grandson
Touta confirmed for banging a chink
Chao is from a different timeline
well he could have a pisshole.
You don't stop having birthdays because you're immortal.
Negi could, and probably did bang more than one woman
that's what she said in Negima herself
>British gentleman not being faithful to his wife
>from a race of bird demon gods
He clearly has a cloaca. Is that obvious?
Multiple timelines with multiple Chaos.
maybe Akamatsu will show us, different kids from different timelines, showing their backstories would redeem everything that went wrong with Negima.
What is Joseph Joestar
He's a welsh sheepfucker.
that makes more sense than I wanted
I think she implied she didn't exist in the one we saw at the end of Negima - though it that's the same as UQ Holder is a different question
obviously not like Negi
Magia Erebea only works with Vampires. Remember when Rakan tried it?
So, to gain access to it, he needed to be turned into a vampire first.
Negi wasn´t a vampire, he became something like a vampire because of magia erebea though.
Magia Erebea only works with people with compatible dispositions. It didn't work with Rakan because he's a cheery upbeat motherfucker.
Negi wasn't a vampire either.
Of course most normal people would end up just getting consumed by the darkness but Negi lucked out because he was a descendant of the Lifemaker so he managed to evolve into a higher lifeform instead.
The point is whether or not she's from Toutas timeline.
the space bridge was Negis idea and I don´t think, anyone could pull this through without knowing what negi knew and without Negis influence, well rather Ayakas and Asunas influence but yeah, they would do anything for him
Multiple Negis in multiple timelines.
He had his blood sucked by Eva though. He could've had a low form of vampirism.
So will Touta's superior Aryan genes allow him to escape teh encroachment, considering his upbeat, non-dark personality?
That would mean that half of the 3-A girls are also vampires.
Who knows? Unlike Negi, who was a human who was fighting to maintain himself while slowly being transformed into an immortal monster, Touta might've inherited ME already completed via Negi's blood. And then became a vampire on top of that.
Somehow I doubt he's going to have the same problems with it.
Probably, he got the genes of Negi and Konoka probably the most potent one of the class besides eva, zazie and asuna
But they were for at least a period of time. Magic is like radiation; it doesn't just go away.
Does anyone else feel like Touta being a Konoe wasn't due to any feelings of love, but because Ala Alba decided that they couldn't keep the world from going to shit and decided to combine the best genes they could get together to create a saviour of the world in the same vein as Chao?
I am pretty sure Touta got a good look at her genitalia when she is regenerating her pelvis but not her pants
Except they weren't. They were controlled as familiars, but they weren't vampyric.
No. That's not really Akamatsu's style.
But this whole UQ world is pretty dark.
I can see Konoka and Setsuna being ok with it(Setsuna at first with reluctance but then she is all like, threesome is actually not a bad idea) but Asuna and many others would never allow it, I think Touta was adopted by the Konoes because reasons.
but Negi and Asuna are related anyway
gonna keep that pure blood up brah
What could this be?
chapters 1 & 2
Eva is just a vampire, probably the first one ever.
Negi has immortality due to the side effects of magia erebea which ate away at his mortal body and replaced it with magic flesh of some kind. This didn't happen to Eva because she didn't have a mortal body during the time she was using it.
It's likely that whatever Chao had on her body at the end of the festival arc in Negima was a result of Negi's non human genes, and that Touta has something similar going on. It's interesting to note that for some reason neither of them are capable of using magic at all.
Magia Erebia has two parts: Taking magic into your body/soul for other effects, and then eroding your body (soul?) and replacing it with something else. It's very likely that Touta has the some of the second part and none of the first.
More then likely he just had multiple children with one woman, so Chao could end up being his yet to be born cousin. I'm hoping for a loli Chao on Mars later in the story.
Then use a comma or something for Christ's sake!
I thought we were getting a UQ One Half for a second there.
Chao is a mage, where comes that stupid idea she can't use magic come from?
Reading her final fight after UQ Holder makes it seem like she is using very high powered magical apps and ME. I'll admit it's a bit of a leap, but it explains the bar code invocations and her bodies spell array. It also explains why she doesn't use magic until that moment.
Chao was a mage, but she also used magitek and invented a new form of magic that combined magical spells with scientific interface. Her Magia Erebea was like a barcode written all over her body that would activate certain spells when parts of it were "read," not something that turned her into a non-human entity.
Is Evangeline still in her boring, nondescript adult form, or are there hints of her turning back to the Evangeline we know and love?
She hasn't been seen since she gave Touta the slum mission, she's still in that form and the member still call her Yukihime
I don't see why she should. She's wanted as loli Eva, seems to have used an adult form most of her life all the way up to Nagi smushing her into the school.
When Negi shows up.
Do you think she ever got over Nagi and decided she craved the Negi dick instead?
I'm pretty sure she was after Negi's dick before she got over Nagi. Are there an doujin where she fucks them both? There should be.
If Negi is still alive will he be a shota?
No: taller then Nagi. ( Probably )
Also he's dead, Jim.
Just like Nagi was dead.
Hasn't it been about a hundred years since Negima now then. That'd make Negi famous. You'd think Touta would know if his goddam grandfather was a famous MAGISTER MAGI. What the fuck Ken.
negi is alive. why? because he's in that pic.
Negi even designed the space tower. Isn't the space tower Touta's goal?
>That'd make Negi famous.
More like infamous. Al's house was, after all, a hideout for the 'highest level of villains.'
Touta knows shit. Literally only a few years of knowledge.
I want to know about what's going in this manga, but that ending is making it hard for me to care.
Touta has amnesia.
I...forgot he has amnesia. Well shit. You'd still think there'd be more mention of Negi though considering how integral he is to their modern society.
If you really think Negi is dead you could not be more wrong but it will probably be 3 years or more before we even see him if not more.
also certain members of UQ holder itself are negi's other descendants
Like how every time we get into cars we thank Henry Ford.
>tripping for no reason
Cite your evidence.
But no one ever said Nagi was dead.
Ford didn't invent cars.
I'm pretty sure they did but it's been awhile since I read Negima so there is a possibility of me being wrong. It may have just been speculation that he was dead but never directly stated.
Negi didn't invent magic.
Obviously that guy is the son of Tertium and Homura (the flamekin of his squad)
Space Olympics when?
Maybe we'll get to know more about Negi when Touta arrives to the Tower knowing from who was the idea to build it
>knowing from who was the idea to build it
You don't? What kinda of ungrateful piece of shit are you?
I meant volumes 1 and 2, jesus Christ /a/.
How did an explanation saying someone was going to buy two chapters of a manga actually sound like a good explanation to you?
Do I need to read Negima before reading UQ?
In its current state?
Not really, but you lose a fair deal of background information about the characters. There have been a good number of references to negima already, all of which will go straight over your head unless you read it. But it is still enjoyable regardless.
Later on, it has a good possibility of basically becoming a true continuation of negima, at which point you are fucked if you didn't read negima.
Just read negima, if you enjoy UQ holder you will likely enjoy negima, and the same can be said in reverse. There is no reason to skip it when you can read it all online for free.
My interest is almost piqued but I'll wait until he re-introduces pactios.
So, is UQ Holder worth reading yet? I read it for the two months, but nothing really of note happened, so i'm waiting for it to hit it's groove, like Negima did after Vol 3.
Are the characters as good as Negima? Who really gives a shit about ME? It only was the beginning of the end off all the good stuff in Negima.
>Is it worth reading yet?
No. Give it more time.
