I saw a thread last night, and it piqued my interest. I watched all 17 episodes last night. It's a really great show, personally. Now, since I rushed through the episodes, I've been debating reading the manga. Should I start over, or will I miss much if I read from the latest episode?
>It's a really great show, personally.
Jesus Christ where did the time go.
Is there some sort of consensus you follow?
I couldn't stop after I started. I'm glad I found out about the show though.
>Is there some sort of consensus you follow?
It's just badly phrased.
10/10 show, made me buy a bike.
Sorry about that.
Really thinking of buying a bike myself.
The manga art may bother you at the beginning but it doesn't really matter because the story is so good. You won't miss too much if you start from the latest episode, but the manga is really fun (and it goes by fast anyway).
Also episode 18 airs in an hour or so, but live threads are usually dead as fuck until subs come out.
It's on in 10 mins at cc0721xy.
I want a bike too but not really because of the show. I would of been fine with a crappy bike but now that I've watched this I want one with all the bells and whistles.
I still enjoy the show but I don't like Onoda.
He's too good at everything so far, literally achieving success on his first try while a bunch of dudes chant CADENCE over and over.
>on his first try
It's not his first try, they keep going over how he basically trainned by going up the steep hill and going to akiba on his harder-to-cicle-in mommy bike.
I mean, he's still a bit special but not that special
I don't understand what's going on right now. Is this the last day? Why would the winner of this race go to the Interhigh? I mean, they're not going to ride all through the night to reach 1000 miles so what does it matter what order they're in when the sign goes down? Isn't Teshima a lap ahead of all of them anyhow?
Exactly. If I were in the shoes of those two >>101852704, I'd probably have just rolled with it, and saved my energy. Then very early in the morning I'd have started again and put some 20 to 50 rounds between us.
teshima is a lap ahead, but he won't go to the interhigh without his partner so both of them have to win.
Not sure about why the winner goes. i assume it's because the seniors decided whoever is fastest gets to go.
At first I htought that it was because after this lap overtaking will be prohibited due to being too dark for that, whoever completes the lap first will start the last day with an advantage and will probably manage to complete the 1000km (or miles, not sure which) first. But then i saw the manga and realized that wouldn't make sense as onoda is the last to reach the goal of 1000 km
Haha this fucking CM.
This show actually made me buy cleats. They'll arrive in 1 or 2 days.
The manga is getting translated really fast now. How the fuck is the rating in the Inter Highs done?
Do they teams get points if their guys reach the checkpoint first?
If this had Eurobeat soundtrack it would be perfect.
He's still successfully competing with or overcoming guys who have ACTUALLY been training for longer or the same and have years of experience in bike racing.
Like he beat Imaizumi in the hill race, despite Imaizumi training harder and having more experience, literally on Onoda's first try. How? Cadence.
In the recent episodes the captain goes out of his way to make it MUCH harder for Onoda, even more so than Imaizumi and Naruko, and still he passes perm-senpai. How? Cadence.
I guess it's just not very believable to me. It'd be like if Sakuragi beat Rukawa in the first two chapters of Slam Dunk, just because. But that never happens, even by the end Sakuragi is still not as good as the core of the team, but he BECOMES good, that's basically the point.
Onoda is literally just as good as the guys who have been working much harder and training longer, already. It's just strange.
Like I said, I still like the show, it's just very strange for SPORTSU.
Same here. But then i saw how much a decent road racer actually worth.
I suppose you have a pojnt. It's just that between the last sports manga I read being KnB and seeing how some of the other characters are in the raws, Onoda seems not that special in how good he became
What is the problem with the art? I'll get around to reading it tonight though. In terms of it going "fast"... is that the content of the manga, or it's just a good read?
>It'd be like if Sakuragi beat Rukawa in the first two chapters of Slam Dunk, just because.
No, I think it'd be more like if he managed to get a point against the gorilla in a heavily biased game.
Onoda never beat anybody of the racing team in a fair competition. He was allowed to start 10 minutes earlier or he only needed to finish half the race.
>What is the problem with the art?
Nothing really. It's different and less...clean and bishie looking i suppose and try not to bother about correct anatomy porportions.
>In terms of it going "fast"... is that the content of the manga, or it's just a good read?
A bit of both for me at least. The manga has few lines sometimes and 'wastes' a lot of pages on double spread and reaction faces so you can go through volumes fast
Finally it's over.
Interhigh soon right?
He has one more advantage. He doesn't know he shouldn't be able to keep up. His mental limits are just plain different.
All of his greatest feats have involved a situation where his type of mental limit is not in play. AKA when he has a clear goal of "catching up" to someone. He is at his weakest when he lacks a clear goal.
I guess that's fair, it still doesn't seem equal. Getting a single shot in basketball is the kind of thing that could still happen through a fluke though. Give you or I ten thousand chances against an NBA player and you could probably do it once or twice.
Give you or I 10,000 chances against a Tour de France winner in their prime and it's just not something that would happen. There is no room in bike racing for that kind of thing IMO.
Well, KnB is more like Eyeshield or something than a "standard" sports manga. Once superpowers get introduced all odds are out the window.
Why is he so creepy?
Also how is he going to win the race? He's far behind (just past Onoda) and even though I don't think he can beat the two other aces, the author must be doing this with a close finish in mind.
The interhigh goes on until volume 27 so don't worry, plenty of time for him to do something
The art is great. What's wrong with the art?
But isn't he the person that just Rushed past Onoda? Why rush at this point? He's not gonna catch up.
>been reading the raws
>holy shit Interhigh was a fucking blast, loved every second of it
I need to finish the last few volumes and get caught up.
I don't understand moon but apparently there is more than one day of interhigh, or at least more than one race
They're in 3rd year and must graduate.
Same as Hakogaku senpais. But Kinjou and Arakita attend the same university and join the cycling club there.
His bike is so small. How is he getting anywhere with that? It makes no sense.
The answer is always CADENCE.
Well I really like the show, and I want to continue the story now, rather than wait.
And the anime scales Tadokoro very largely in some scenes anyway, but I like that concept.
But he doesn't fully stretch his legs. His form must be horrible. It must be hell to even have a decent cadence like that.
Is weight really that worth it?
What happened to ABS? Is he still in the race?
What happened to the 2chan screencapper?
Will Onoda's climb be baptized the singing climb?
Hime Dancing someone said.
But he stopped singing. I wish he'd sing more. I love the hime hime song.
He sand while passing 100 people.
Then he stopped once he got back to his group.
But to all those people he was singing while climbing and passing them all and doing some parkour shit on the gutter.
All that from the kid who was dead last in the race.
>Should I start over.
The answer is always yes. Why miss out on something like that? It takes not time; you can read it all in under an hour.
When you see it.
>[HorribleSubs] Yowamushi Pedal - 18 [720p].mkv
Has the character song vol.4 been uploaded anywhere? I still can't seem to find it on the usual site.
Also, it seems Hakogaku characters are also going to get character song albums, hopefully they don't meet same fate like this one.
Damn anon, you've been looking for this album for months.
I guess that album sold really poorly so only really few people has it.
On the other hand, Hakogaku characters seems to be more popular so their character song albums are more likely to be selling higher.
Onoda a best
Yeah but since he's only a second year on a team of third years he doesn't do much more besides teamwork/assisting his senpai.
but there is more to this after the inter-high as well
And then he never won again
Didn't in the manga one of the second years give up his spot for Onoda?
He lost to Onoda and gave him his shoes.
Have you ever cycled so fast you came?
To my destination?
I usually go where I'm trying to go, though there have been exceptions.
I just realised how much OP2 gets me hyped.
Imaizumi does it again.
I think they cut out a scene with Aoyagi monologuing about losing the race though.
Dammit why, I liked listening to him talk. What did he say in the manga?
These despair faces are Shinji tier.
It's three pages, he just kind of elaborates on the results and feels bad about it.
This was cut too.

Is this the show with CG bikes, or are they drawn?
I only started to get into sport shows with Diamond no Ace, Now I have a huge back log of them, I should have picked this up too.
Hopefully /a/ will discuss it when ever I get around to it .
It's a mix of both.
Didn't meant to quote
Why does Kinjou wear that sun visor at night?
I hope it stays popular enough to be discussed even after it finishes airing. You have 20 weeks left.
You may as well pick it up while it's airing. We've only just passed the halfway mark.
We can always have a thread when the manga group releases a whole volume. And there's a lot of volumes to go before we catch up.
We're not even halfway yet, we're at 18/39.
My mistake, thought the last episode was 19 for some reason. Also it's 38 episodes.
Oh, it's only 38. I heard 39 way back based on Amazon listing 13 volumes and the first few all containing 3 eps each. I guess the last one will be 2 episodes only or something.
There's an OVA. Maybe that's it?
Didn't the OVA already air?
The OVA was a bonus with a limited edition volume of the manga. It even has subs now.
>It even has subs now.
Wasn't aware of that. Thanks for the heads up.
I meant to say maybe the OVA was included in the volume list he found on Amazon?
Also I know it has subs but are they any good? Can you confirm? They were by a group I'd never heard of if I remember correctly.
They're by the group doing the manga. They were perfectly servicable subtitles, the only real problem was the bloated XviD encode in an avi file.
The same person who's translating the manga solo did it.
The video quality isn't very good and they're hard subs but that's what they had to work with.
According to cdjapan, the last volume contains the last two eps (37 & 38): http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=TBR-23473D
>Labelled the guy's tits
Did you miss that part?
It sucks for the kids who have to walk up that hill to get to class.
I know, but I didn't expect a magazine to do it again.
they have a gradual incline on the side the people walk on.
So you don't forget.
That part is so glorious.
I guess it makes sense that Midosuji almost never sits on his bicycle seat.
>tfw you discover your rival is a closet otaku
Imaizumi is probably listening to the Hime OST right there.
Man, I know this feel. If I had the money, or guts to talk to one of my old high school best friends again, I'd be over at his house asking him everything from cost to frame supports and everything since I'm fat.
It seems like a really fun hobby now.
Onoda x Manami OTP.
Also, the new OP took a while to get me at hyped at the first one, but just like last season, this shows OP is in my top 3 of the season.
I just realized all these characters will get figs.
I just don't get why his abs are named after the Schleck brothers.
They aren't sprinters.
he was maximum cuteness in the ova
Anyone catch a deadly Japanese cold afterwards?
If I liked oofuri, will I like this? The MC's seem similar?
this shit hurts
Pedaling makes you STRONK.
Those poor second years, too. Now they have to endure 20 volumes of being background characters
For dramatic effect.
Is it wrong to be aroused?
I was too
Them booty short boxers man
/r/ing someone to write "MOTHER OF GOD" on this after he takes his glasses off.
Great episode. Nice to see Onoda using cleats
Also, the OVA was pretty fun too
It shouldn't have taken this long to get that boy some proper equipment
Would you accept Onoda's choco?
Wait a minute, who the fuck is this guy?
interhigh is 3 days
>Makishima goes to study in England
>everyone is depressed
Best girl incoming next episode
That's a lot of edge.
does she ride as well?
He's a second year that usually handles equipment, his name is Koga or something. They replaced him with Aoyagi during the first handicap practice, he might become more relevant way later I the series.
Finally found this buried in the archive.
That style evolution.
he also raced colnago guy when the rookies are paired with veterans
All that baggy
Perm-senpai and Fukutomi practically look like different characters
That really explains all the pixiv jokes about Imaizumi's chin.
It explains so many things.
>That prettyboy Imaizumi
And then he became a dorito.
I hope the figma comes with those faces.
I wonder which characters they're going to do compared to the other company. Max Factory usually does around three or so per series?
If three then probably Imaizumi and Naruko (I hope).
I heard that it was going to be Imaizumi and Naruko too.
I hope the figma comes with bikes.
It'd be really nice if it's those three since the other company is doing a lot of Hakogakus. Plus the trio would make a good set for a small line if they decide not to do any more.
>road racers cost $1k+
Cervelo are around $5000+
De Rosa and Bianchi seem to be incredibly expensive as well, these kids have loaded families
It's just one of those sports. I think that sports and hobbies that are deeply integrated with technology can be very expensive depending on how much "performance" you want.
>automobiles (cars, bikes, gokarts, etc.)
While all of these are able to be done well with skill, adding more advanced technology undoubtedly helps.
>Aoyagi and Teshima didn't win the sprint
No, fuck this shit.
Deleted the episode, dropped the show, shut down my computer, burned the hard drive, called in an aerial strike on Japan.
Fuck. This. Shit.
hard work will never win
hard work will never beat natural talent
why are you assuming they did hard work
they only worked hard for 1 year while the red guy and blue did it their whole lives
Green haired seemed to be loaded judging by his house and the same goes for Iwaizumi
Naruko's siblings also have bikes right?
I really like the art in the manga
I just got a Giant Defy for retail at $700 from my local bike shop. There are definitely cheaper entry level bikes, but any less than that is probably crap, plus I get a lifetime discount on upgrades and a year of free tune ups from the shop. Also, they assemble it and fit you to it if you buy from a shop directly.
Can someone edit this gif like the Jurassic Park one so it keeps his glasses on even as he takes them off?
Naruko's Pinarello Dogma?
Frame alone goes for over 5000 euros.
damn these privileged high school jap kids
just go on craigslist or local equivalent and pick up an old 10 speed for cheap.
>tfw I don't know how to ride a bike
Is it too late pedalbros?
never too late. get a cheap bike and do it
Look at it this way:
That's their lives.
Back then I had spent some 2k on playmobil + another 2k on my computer and yet another 1k on a bike. If I had put all of that into one bike, then that'd have been the same thing.
These people know what they want.
Fetishes I never knew I had. Fetishes I never knew I wanted.
Onoda a cute. Cute enough to have tons of adoring friends despite his rampant waifufaggotry
I bought one too! Specialized Allez 2014!
Road bikes really are completely different
The anime is slowly increasing in sales right? I bet the manga's doing well too.
