Agreed, most often they just repeated something that was said in the image already, other times they made it less funny by stating the obvious. The original idea was of course to make them in the same vein as the motivational posters from offices and shit, but that idea was forgotten a long time ago.

Did you even understand my post? I'm saying it's an old and busted practice to make de/motivationals, especially if it's just useless text around an image. All you're really doing is making people who are interested in the actual image in the frame having to crop it out for usage.
