Born of the Boobs: Monoblack a shit edition.
Pack Rat a best. If you're not playing monoblack standard, you're playing the game wrong.
Mono-Black is boring. Needs more colors. Esper control reporting in.
bile blight the killer of any triable minotaur deck in standard. Really though someone managed to draft 5 of those in a limited i went to on friday.
Fun Police really is the superior Modern deck.
which block deck should I play?
That's not U.
Izzet-tan is so kawaii
I bet dimir-tan is the biggest qt of them all under those robes
>go up against some reanimator deck
>turn one thoughtseize
>ok imma going to get rid of your Loxodon Smiter
>dude you sure, you really should just glance over it
>guy looks at it and nods yep get rid of it
>the look of oh shit on his face was pretty sad to look at to be honest
>put it on the battlefield and swing for 6 before he doom bladed it.
what is up with people and reanimator decks who don't pay attention to detail man. I mean i saw a vid of someone who discarded his reanimate instead of griselbrand once.
Gotta go fast. Also reading is for faggots.
I know this might not be the best thread for this question, but does magic have Futuristic artwork?
Im not talking about Steampunk, or Retro-Futuristic artwork, I mean the art looks like it could come from the year 2155.
Do they even have any artwork that doesn't look like its from the Medieval times? Something like robots, or Modern day art?
Its just that 90% of the Magic cards I see (To me) have no style because they are set in roughly the same era.
you might want to check out netrunner if you're into futuristic artwork or something like the new phyrexia set might interest you.
nice shitty budget version of a budget deck.
>not mono white
>no kitchen finks
>no Dryad Militant
What the hell are you doing?
>no weiss schwarz at my locals
g-guess ill play modern or something....
>implying this isn't a legit gw bears deck
Kitchen Finks really isn't relevant any more, stop living in 2012.
how the hell is it not relevant?
you can debate some of what I said, but running ONE mindcensor in a hatebear deck is retarded.
Also you don't have a decent finisher.
Pic related. Also 1 mindcensor because I'd rather play a threat-heavier version of the deck.
>Implying aggro decks need to drop a big bomb to seal the deal.
Why would you use restoration angel? At this point Brimaz is a much better option since he can come in a turn earlier, provides more pressure, and can be flashed in with an aether vial with 3 charge counters (along with a majority of the creatures in the deck).
The whole point of this deck is to make it extremely difficult for your opponent to do what they want, and having hard to deal with creatures is a huge part of that. Kitchen Finks keeps your life total afloat while forcing them to figure out how to remove the damn thing twice. It's the same principle as Voice of Resurgence.
Also are you running any Tech edges? If your not that's a huge mistake.
>Death & Taxes
Well, in Legacy.
not a big bomb but a creature that, if not dealt with immediatly, gets out of hand.
Blade, Loxodon Smiter, Voice.
I'll be over here playing a format that isn't as tightly moderated as Ri Sol-Ju's asshole
I agree with Voice, but Brimaz would be infinitely better than the smiter. Also, blade isn't exactly a finisher.
Like >>101842195 said, Smiter needs to be answered. You can actually ignore voice though. Just let it hit you for 2, not that fast of a clock.
Unless you play stack interaction, then you're fucked.
brimaz isn't even close to outclassing smiter in thoughtseize/lilly/iok: the format
What interacts with smiter? Dies to removal isn't an argument for a reature being bad.
Cleaned up the wording on most of the first and second set of the 2hu block that got posted last time, and did some balance testing. Reduced the effect of some of the Jesus Christ What Were You Thinking-Tier cards.
another esper bro reporting! cant wait to wreck mono blue and niggers this coming fnm!
meant to reply to >>101842195
But Smiter is easy to answer if you don't have an answer available that turn or the turn after.
If you don't have an answer to something like Brimaz the tun it's able to attack the board starts getting out of hand quickly.
Stack interaction. You know.
Counters and flash things.
decks that run thoughseize/lilly/iok have a million answers to Smiter.
MonoBlack must die
>lel i accidentally let him drop smiter for free, better use removal!
How is that not a favorable trade for the hatebear player?
I played desecration and pack rat when standard was innistrad/ravnica. Everytime I played a rat my opponent would laugh at me and would go 'why'd you put that in your deck? that's only good in limited.' then I proceed to rat race them all the while duressing their revelations and detention spheres.
Shit was awesome, being hipster and all and building a budget deck back when the rat and the demon was still 'trash rares'.
So why do people play this over YGO? YGO is much cheaper.
playing with rocks is also cheaper, but people prefer both ygo and mtg over that
But YGO and MTG are both card games. It's not like one is that much better than the other, whereas rocks are obviously less fun.
>it feels good to be a hipster!
If you're talking about EDH, enjoy your public masturbation competition
this is some janky stuff, any more?
I bet you're a filthy netdecker.
No, I like interesting brews, but bragging that the meta's 100 years too early to meet you is just obnoxious.
If you think that's already obnoxious, then how fucking sensitive can you be?
The meta in magic is fucking stupid, everyone would follow the hottest decks, that's why it was so fun wrecking them with a different deck, more so when the deck you wrecked them with becomes the most popular. How can you not (secretly) gloat about that
Holy shit, the things you find on pixiv.
>tfw your BUG homicidal goats control deck never took off.
The fuck is that?
BUG control back in 2013, except using keyrunes for manaramp and synergizing with Homicidal Seclusion and Demonic Rising. Activate the hexproof one to hit for 5 lifelink damage, or to spawn a 5/5 flying demon at the end of each turn. Shit was pretty cash.
Now it was kinda nice when you did it just for the prerelease, but if you're going to do these threads this often it's annoying.
You have your own board, go back to it.
This is worded slightly wrong, it's copy target instant or sorcery spell, you may choose new targets for THE COPY.
The way it's worded now implies you change the target of the original spell but the target of the copy remains the same.
Which is a bit stupid.
More than a bit overpowered.
Smiter is better in modern because it's resistant to discard. Brimaz can be played in modern as it's own threat but it shouldn't replace smiter.
Possibly sideboard either but that seems a bit too much like wasting slots.
Brimaz feels outclassed by Hero of Bladehold.
Brimaz is less powerful but cheaper.
That one mana is important.
Compared to other 4 drops hero is outclassed by other options, Brimaz however has much less competition.
I really hate it that the price of AEther vial went up SEVEN FUCKING DOLLARS due to some shitty white rare hype from BotG which probably won't see any play except in Legacy Death and Taxes.
I can't think of any white 4 drops that can do Bladehold's job better in modern.
>Monoblack a shit
You talking shit about Mai Waifu?
I actually run her in my Dimir Mill deck. All the mad that spews forth when I table her. Same with Geth, Lord of the Vault. Feels good man
Of those who use them, how many of you guys would recommend investing in a custom playmat? I already have the art lined up to go, but they seem pretty expensive. Is it worth the expense?
It's completely subjective.
If you think you want one fine.
Just don't go not eating for a week because you can't afford it or anything stupid.
If you have the money to burn on magic you can probably splurge.
Because this is a much more balanced and fun game, with actual variance and is not just "OOPS I DREW A BETTER 5 THEN YOU GUESS I WIN LOLOLOLOL".
Not just talking out my ass, was a competitive YGO player for a few years before switching over to Magic.
>Implying certain cards are not just objectively better in any given standard format
>Implying more than 10% of any given set is actually playable in standard
>Implying having to grind out wins using sub-optimal cards makes you a better player
Bro, I am on a warpath to own all the major modern staples, and you know what hurts more than $25 Vials?
And now I have 3 of my 4.
I don't even want to think about the impending grab for my remaining Fetches and Goyf's/Bob's.
>Implying copying decks built for versatile environments such as gp's will always be better
>Implying having the skill to build a deck that matches your local metagame advantageously makes you a bad player
Go ahead and net deck if you're going to be playing at a GP, but building a deck yourself that's custom made to demolish your metagame is not only one of the most fun things in the game but also lets you win a lot more than a random scrub that copied the highest ranked devotion list at the last GP.
No, we're talking about relevant cards.
Guess you wouldn't be familiar with those, then.
What can I do to improve my chances against mono B and Orzhov? Those are the only two decks I really lose against
Standard deck? Doesn't sound very Modern
Well, hopefully this keeps tons of players from playing decks with it.
Why is Yawgmoth's Will so hard to find? Everyone I know has Bargains, Bargains, and more Bargains.
Thanks for reminding me why I don't play standard anymore.
Basic lands aren't rare, man
I'm (partly) joking. I do like the look of the deck, but standard just seems less and less interesting year after year. Expecially with modern, where I can put together a decent living end deck off of mostly jank commons and a few random duals.
Yep, added trading posts soon after realizing they were good against aggro and could spawn goats to activate seclusion and demonic rising, thus the name.
Aside from Sarpadian Empires Swimsuit Edition what things can produce red creatures without even using red mana?
KOBOLDS OF FUCKING KHER KEEP
or any token producer with painter's servant really.
Kobolds of Kher Keep's color identity is red and I want something to put in an Erebos deck to pair with Kederekt Parasite.
Have you considered not using Parasite in a fucking mono black deck?
Or better yet, try not playing EDH, because it's shit.
>Or better yet, try not playing EDH, because it's shit.
Thanks for your unsolicited input.
Try deciding whether you want to be a midrange or aggro deck first.
Threadly reminder that Yuuya is literally our guy in the pro tour.
