How much anime have you seen /a/?
Because these threads always go fucking fantastic.
i've seen about 33 or 34
Anyone whose finished more than 1000 anime must have a high tolerance level for watching garbage.
I don't get how you can be elitist over watching a LOT of anime, but how the fuck can you be elitist of watching a small amount of anime?
According to MAL I've watched 233 different series.
I really doubt everyone who answered more than 1000 is telling the truth, but you never know
I only read manga. You have shit respect for the artists.
Because I won't bother sifting through my list for individual series and not seasons/ovas/specials/etc., the number is 361 completed with about 25 currently airing shows.
Since it 404d for some reason, here's the new one
>no blinking eyes ending
no, YOU should kill yourself
>No "Literally almost 20 titles"
I'm not sure what you're trying to imply anon.
Of course I've seen less than 100 shows.
How much trash do you all watch?
Or are your standards just that low?
If you haven't even seen 100 anime you have zero critical basis for having an opinion on /a/, get out.
Honestly I feel like after 500 most things would start to just blur together.
What do you even discuss on /a/ with such a low number.
Why are you acting like discussion on this board ever goes beyond I want to fuck her?
I've seen almost 50 days worth of anime. No long running shounen shows other than Inuyasha.
Step up kids
You only have 60 days of anime without Pokemon/Yugioh. That's not much higher.
That isn't a ton.
Watching every anime on a rec chart doesn't count.
Did I sound like I thought that was a lot. I personally think it's average.
But I don't do that
Get good kid
I assume you're the Inuyasha dude? That's still 13 more days than you if you take away the long running show.
It's surprising how many people have seen less than 100
404 not found?
>That's still 13 more days than you if you take away the long running show.
That's pretty much what I just said, are you retarded.
Are you serious?
/a/ has an immensely low barrier to entry because all the board talks about is currently airing stuff. Even if you have a rich log of older shows you've watched, all that will help you with here is circlejerky 3x3 and "AOTYs of the past decade" argument threads.
All you have to do is follow along with a single season's shows and amass a folder of /a/-appropriate reaction images and you're already entrenched in the culture.
I obviously implied that is a decent amount more. And I have 24 days more than you in total, it doesn't matter what you count.
I-I kind of wanted to vote in the <5 poll option
Fuck you, OP, your poll sucks.
502 different anime
It's not a dick waving contest about how many anime you've seen, it's about how many anime you have enjoyed. Watching anime and reading manga is a hobby that you do for your own enjoyment. Why watch something just so you can tick it off on a chart or online catalogue? Are you that insecure in yourself that you need to fit in with an anonymous internet community? I don't get it.
It honestly doesn't make a difference after a certain point.
He uses a trip, so obviously.
One thing I like about having seen a fair amount of shows is catching references in threads and shows. During a season a fair amount of the board is dedicated to currently airing shows, but there are other threads around.
As for a more on-topic point, I've seen around 200 shows, and counting shows I've dropped or never finished, closer to 300.
225, I started watching anime the summer that Kokoro Connect, Tari Tari, and SAO aired. They were my first airing series though I dropped SAO when they moved into a fucking cottage.
Bear has got to be one of the worst tripfags to sprout out in recent years. I've currently shortlisted Bear and Vert in my mind.
Bear has the most entry level 3x3 on the board, if he was just an anon I would assume it was people throwing around a troll chart.
Because he uses a trip I know he just has horrible taste.
>Cual adc? (Pick one)
I started watching airing shows that summer also, but I started getting back into anime with entry level shit that spring.
I'd filter him if it didn't absolutely murder 3x3 threads, which I enjoy participating in.
Read the thread, original strawpoll 404'd. Apparently the site reuses the numbers.
No idea, it's League of Legends related. /v/ermin teir vidya game.
>participating in 3x3 threads
That's pretty retarded in itself anon.
The people who clicked <100 should have just heeded the message instead and removed themselves, unless they are humble lurkers.
If you actually followed all the relevant shows every season you'd easily pass 100 series in no time. The only way you can stay at a low number is if you only watch a couple shows each season and have no prior anime experience. People with fewer than 100 series generally don't know very much about anime because they aren't interested enough to actually watch more than a handful of shows.
I've only seen five.
>welcome to nhk
This is exactly why these kinds of polls don't work
>If you actually followed all the relevant shows every season you'd easily pass 100 series in no time.
It'd take at least three years, assuming you're not cheating by doing the MAL thing and counting things that aren't series as series.
How very interesting
thank you for being interested.
Personally I think counting by days is much better, though I don't know where you would set the thresholds
It shows in every thread.
>counting by days
How would that work? Counting up the minutes and converting the total watched into days?
Yes, exactly. MAL does it automatically for you.
Uh huh. Most people who exceed a hundred series/movies/OVAs/etc already use some form of database service to track this, and there is often an integrated function for keeping track of the time based on length of individual episodes.
>almost 10 years watching anime
>less than 200 TV show
>less than 400 overall
I think DotA/HoN/ASSFAGGOTS really fucked up me on that.
At least you weren't playing shitty casual league of legends.
Then again, you'd gain a pretty big number just by watching long running shonenshit.
We should introduce some kind of anime quota, to perfectly represent one's experience in anime that balances in all relevant factors.
Sounds great. Here, I already made us a website: http://animu-mango.wikia.com/wiki/Anime_Recommendations
Is it fair to say that 100 really is alot?
I mean in 10 years you would have to watch 10 a series and that average required would go up as you decrease in the years of viewing time/
The thing about "anime essentials" is that they're not really necessary to talk anime on this board. Of course watching them helps a lot and lets you understand the medium much better.
No, it's not fair to say that 100 is a lot. You can barely scratch the surface of the medium with that number, and anime is a pretty insignificant medium to begin with.
>is it fair to say that 100 really is a lot?
>I mean in 10 years you would have to watch 10 a series
If you watch one episode, a more or less 24 minutes, a day you can knock off AT LEAST 30 series a year.
>Of course watching them helps a lot and lets you understand the medium much better.
Which makes them "essential". /a/ isn't for casual talk. While there are a number of fairly shallow discussions that occur here, the users here should already have experience with the medium so we don't get a bunch of newfags asking the same simple questions about Japan and anime all the time.
TV: 211, OVA: 65, Movies: 71, Spcl.: 45, Eps: 4,326, DL Eps: 0, Days: 70.18
Oh god what have I done...
Can I game the system with short anime?
If we don't count ONAs you're pretty fucked m8
>which makes them "essential"
Not necessarily. I'm not saying that a casual who watched less than 10 shows can waltz into /a/ and expect to keep up in the interaction. Someone who has watched a good number, around 60 or 70, of recently aired/airing series is enough experience.
>while there are a number of fairly shallow discussions that occur here
Almost all of the threads on this board can be boiled down to "wich grill wud u fug" and resulting arguments.
Here's the original.
Says a lot about /a/
I only play ARAM so I'm gonna go with Varius.
So you're basically saying you wouldn't count Hellsing Ultimate as a series?
It does say that about 65% has watched more than 100 shows, which are better statistics then I would've predicted.
Not nearly enough
Counting how many anime you watch is stupid.
How do you 'count' it; do OVAs/ONAs count; Do multiple seasons count as multiple anime?
Does a series that literally has hundreds of episodes count as the same as a standard 1 cour anime?
And the most important question:
Who the fuck cares?
MAL says I have 310 completed titles.
How the fuck do you care enough to keep track?
Because it's a hobby that you immerse yourself in everyday, and one day you decide to make a list to keep track of things you've watched, then continue to add entries as you watch more, until years later you're at 500+ shows watched.
It's not like it's a lot of work.
Basically all completed titles count.
It not the actual 'counting' I was trying to highlight, it's just how broken it is.
Spending weeks watching LOGH counts the same as spending 22 minutes watching some shitty fan service OVA.
Well here's mine.
Are you serious? I'm keeping up with 25 anime this season, and there are 4 seasons per year. How would getting 100 series take 3 years, what the fuck?
>I really doubt everyone who answered more than 1000 is telling the truth, but you never know
I wouldn't be surprised, but you must have really low standards and watch any kind of shit comes out of Japan to reach a similar number.
The definition of casual
Around 100 or so, and it doesn't really feel like much at all.
There are a bunch of people from /a/ that hve reached a 1000.
