/a/ allows general threads now?
OP can't spend a second without his thread. He'll milk it until next saturday.
Anyone have a link to Mamare's list of classes he's already researching?
>keep it in one thread
>hurr general threads
How many hours do I have left for my last minute lore updates?
Keep it in one thread, unless you have nothing to talk about, then don't make a thread.
The only acceptable reason to make a thread is if you actually have something specific you want to discuss. General threads, and "what does /a/ think about" threads, where the OP simply expects a conversation to form for his benefit, are the lowest form of shit.
ストゥイナウ doesn't really read like Shootnow though.
Well, OP is a faggot
So in volume 6's popularity poll, Soujiro came in 24th place. Rezarick (cleric guy with Naotsugu and co. for those only watching the anime), who is pretty much the Black Sword Knights' caretaker, is ahead of him. Mamare-imouto is higher-ranked than he is.
Yeah, Shootnow is completely wrong. It looks more like Stuinau.
Mamare's imouto is in the poll?
If you're starting a general you don't add the conversation topic to the general's first post.
The artist for the Log Horizon series is higher-ranked than Souji is. Sadly, Mamare himself isn't.
People just submitted whatever they wanted (as in, the selection wasn't limited). Naotsugu's Griffon had a vote.
Is that how it's rendered in the Japanese original?
Maybe it's supposed to be Stuinau? It just sounds weird.
Did she blush?
Soujirou is probably in the top five of many people's character lists, but because you can only submit who your favorite character is he ranks low compared to the main characters.
True. But that still means that William Massachusetts, Rezarick, and Mamare-imouto still had more fans than Souji did in terms of top favorites. And the first two appeared in just about one or two volumes each, and they didn't have their own spinoff mangas.
I guess the people taking this poll really didn't like harem master, Kirito-esque characters.
soujirou a shit
>mfw I just finished the latest episode
Great stuff, can't wait for more.
Way too much emphasis on the first u.
Stienau or something. It almost sounds like Stay-now
>start following nakata jouji on twitter
>100 tweets a minute
holy shit he tweets like a teenage girl
Don't he have a cat to voice?
Any suggestions for categories and organization for my submission? So far I've got
Defensive fortifications(there are ALOT of forts around here to the point they only had to shoot once in over 300 years as everyone else knew better than to even attempt looking at us funny.)
Past events with associated items
A few sample phantasmal items with associated legends to explain them.
Eg a dress with that causes all hate mechanics related to the wearer's hate/threat/etc to be set at max level. This is a tad broken in pvp due to this essentially allowing anchor howl to be ignored without triggering a counterattack but I'm also sure there are abilities and spells in elder tale that for example guardians that deal more damage the higher the threat their target has or berserkers and whatnot so in the end it's balanced thanks to the sheer number of variety in ET.
Notes on poison sources for assassins.
Enemy types migration patterns
Cities/towns and associated lore
NPC groups(aka an Izumo equivalent but weaker thanks to my location not being THAT important although they do have a bane attribute vs certain monster types.)
Notable fight areas and terrain
Eg the south is all beaches
The eastern end has an extensive cave system inhabited by demons and devils due to the general nickname of my country before it got an official name.
Sub tropical environment. The north shore is generally rocky.
It was the best episode yet, Rudy is my favourite character in LH by far now.
I bet he tweets and voices at the same time.
>NPC groups(aka an Izumo equivalent but weaker thanks to my location not being THAT important although they do have a bane attribute vs certain monster types.)
This part could be an issue, each server already has their group of Ancients already, and they're all equivalent in strength. So having something that's their equivalent but weaker just for your specific area would just be weird.
Any replacement suggestions? Maybe a badass group of landers in general that were inspired by their Ancient sempai?
I only came up with the idea since St Georges is an EXTREMELY common town name across many of the nearby countries so the most logical route I could think of for this without having an Izumo equivalent named George is to have them as proteges of his that were inspired by his feats and took up the defense of the general region.
How can you hate this face?
Having something equivalent to Ancients would be kind of hard to justify, seeing as they are the 'heroes' of the lore and were born special.
But there's nothing stopping you from having a group of say.. level 30~60 Landers (although they are pretty rare). Keep in mind that most Landers die before reaching those levels due to old age and monsters. So needless to say they would have to be pretty hardcore all around.
Most important part to remember is that Landers aren't actually weak due to some sort of status penalty, they are weak because they do not level as fast. So if you can set up a situation where they can get around that for example... they have sufficient training (would be even harsher than what a castle guard gets since those only end up being 20~40's) or sufficient funds to keep arming themselves properly.
But doesn't トゥ sounds like "Tu"?
Isn't that towu
I might have a slight workaround. I noticed that every square mile of where I live is haunted in some way so to reference that I had it as a weird place where the souls aren't recycled into demihumans but there's only so many the land/spell can hold so the semi common event(ala the goblin king and the ghost festival) would be the release and subsequent mass culling of these spirits (they immediately form into demihumans when kicked out of the main part of the necropolis area) to keep it at an acceptable level. This knowledge is mostly forgotten so everyone is basically just performing maintenance. The Knights of St George could receive 1/2 the exp of an adventurer due to forgotten magiks?
(The idea was that the mages who are responsible for much of the magic here weren't masters so it's essentially the work of amateurs that tried to hastily patch the damage done by the scrapped princesses. The end result is well some very shoddy work that is good enough to slightly work but not good enough to unlock a solution to the world fractures.)
Or alternatively the sheer variety of stuff here means crafted exp potion spam.
It's a mini-ゥ, not a full size one.
Does anyone have a link to Mamare's Twitter account?
So on the subject of ストゥイナウ, what about Steinau?
>Size of the character affects pronunciation
So, aside from Lugrias/Lugolas and Shootnow/Schienau, are there other translation issues in Volume 6?
Yes, it does. It's like how ` has an actual pronunciation.
Yes, because Japanese doesn't have a "Tu" character, so instead they modify the ト with a ゥ to make "Tu", or テ with a ィ to make "Ti", as ツ and チ are "Tsu" and "Chi"
/a/ has always allowed general threads, they are just frowned upon if they are for a show that is not actively airing
Well, he misspells Rezarick in the Annex. I used Sphaela's translations of the names for the guild organizations, too.
Ah, that makes a bit more sense. I thought it was something more along the lines of pronouncing A differently than a.
So should ストゥイナウ be Steinau?
I'm not really sure. What is this exactly?
From what I've seen with katakana-ized words, sometimes the "o" sound in ト is also sometimes treated as silent, so making it トゥ sort of seems pointless, unless you're supposed to pronounce it.
Is this a class or something? I wasn't in the old thread, so mind explaining?
It's a persons name
That's why I thought Steinau didn't make sense, since he clearly wanted Stu/Sutu to be pronounced.
/a/ sings Database when?
Well, it should be pronounced something like "Stuinau" then. I believe it would sound something like merging "Stewie Now" (Stewie, from Family Guys)
In fact, the ウ is also a substitute for the "w" sounds, sometimes.
Shiroe's going to save her, right? ;_;
>Thank you Shiroe. Now I have no regrets, all my chains are broken.
>Blacklists herself from the Cathedral and jumps off a tower
If labnonymous delivers, then this month
>In fact, the ウ is also a substitute for the "w" sounds, sometimes.
As in ウルフ.
So could it be Stwinaw?
So anons, you got into the game and now you have the choice to go to another region server but only using ground transportation
Which region server would you go?
I think it's going to sound terrible no matter what we go with. Stuinau, Stohnau, Steinau.
So I had mentioned this in a previous thread: With the LH TRPG coming up in April, I was thinking it would be nice to create a website for playing campaigns online. Anyone else familiar with Asp.net MVC development possibly interested in this?
Also: Domain name suggestions? Was thinking maybe something like www.databasewowwow.com
Nordic servers are good 'nuff. Too bad most of the people will speak faggot sounding scandinavian languages.
You could just make a group on Roll20 with the Log Horizon rules.
Well, I live on an island. So I'm trapped.
I'm not familiar with the website, but would that even work for custom rulesets? It may not even be D20, and what about the Hate system?
It should. I mean, custom rulesets are still just numbers that are represented by dice rolls and such.
Also: I was thinking of styling the character sheets after the graphics used in the anime/novels.
I'd stay right where I am. Only thing better than New York City is magical New York City.
Are you responding to the Roll20 post?
If so, then yes. Roll20 supports non D&D rulesets, and I think you can incorporate your own house rules into a campaign.
But the Big Apple is a shithole where Adventurers rioted over food and turned the city into Mad Max.
Good thing I'm actually in fucking westchester I guess.
Quints confirm that Nureha gonna live.
How much of that is tracked for everyone to see, though? It seems like it only facilitates chat, dice rolls, and maps. That leaves a lot for people to all track on paper in front of them still, doesn't it?
My faggot cat brought in a mouse and now it's hiding somewhere under my bed.
How do I kill this little fucker?
Oops, wrong tab.
Roll for initiative.
Do people consider Westchester upstate?
Weeks ago people didn't like Rudie for being an aggro-stealing DPSing scrub. After the whole Lander reveal he seem to have gotten a lot of love. With that being said, Rudie is on my top 5 favorite Log Horizon, Minori being number 1.
Yeah, I think it mostly functions as mapping/positioning + dice rolls and chat. you can set attributes for units on the map individually though, so you could probably track Hate per player character and enemy if you needed to. But systems and charts aren't hosted on Roll20.
This is all really premature though since we don't even have the replay book yet.
>liking shitty wannabe shiroe who can't even do anything in combat or make non-retarded calls when it matters
Regardless, 4chan is not your blog.
Also, do you mean kill your cat or kill the mouse? Just let the cat kill the mouse.
Who the fuck are you to tell us what we need to do?
I find it hilarious that all of Shiroe's harem is in the top 10.
That's basically all you need for a campaign. Character sheets are managed individually, and the GM can ask whoever what their stats are if they need to. There's also pdf character sheets for most systems, and it isn't hard to put together a custom one.
Would people be interested in translating the TRPG once it comes out?
I'd give it a shot if there were decent scans.
Are there scans of Volume 7 out yet?
Upstate is always north of where you are.
Yeah, that's what I meant to ask.
I take issue with the webnovel's portrayal of Kazakhstan. Central Asia isn't barren deserts and mountains; it's full of mountain life, even if it's a little hardscrabble.
Which is why that matter is something we should bother Mamare about.
It's weird that Misa is so high. With her background I'm surprised Nureha is that high as well
nureha is love
It's because those areas have less players, development is more focused in the high population areas.
Probably. I could use something practical for coding to put in my portfolio though. So I may still work something up between now and April. Even if its only like an interactive character sheet to supplement Roll20. I'll have to see what difficulties I have with learning Jquery or implementing chat session handling for multiple users.
Nureha is the seductive, proactive love interest of the harem, and that's a popular character archetype.
Misa is the silent kuudere that we know nothing about, making it easy for otaku to fantasize about her.
What's his twitter handle?
Don't ask me what it means. I assume the joke is Mamare sounds like Ma-marreido (marmalade)
do we have the thread in picture archived ?
So, you know how flavor text is starting to be come real and have an actual efffect on the world?
Would this eventually lead to Elias being able to fight at full strength, rather than being unable to defeat enemies?
It's on Foolz. Is there an archive for /a/ that isn't Foolz?
So, is this correct Japanese:
I'm really uncertain about the last sentence.
Uh, except his flavor text is that he's cursed, therefore unable to kill enemies. That's his whole shtick.
Actually, couldn't a scribe make a powerful enough contract to release that sort of curse?
You'd run into the issue of materials, since you'd be changing the history/past of the Ancient. It could also have a side effect you didn't expect, what's to say that isn't part of what makes him 'him'? You could end up nerfing him or changing him completely.
You'd probably need materials similar if not better than the items Shiroe used.
So they just need to put an order out for these materials across the Yamato server?
I'm assuming that Elder Tales only supports a local economy, not some planet-wide market search system like you find in EvE?
>One day, I have this conversation with F-ta chan.
>"Someone wants to animate Log Horizon"
>"That sounds so unreal."
>"Isn't it? I think so too. No way they will animate it."
>"Let's ignore that and work on something else."
>"That's right, don't bother with this, want to eat some meat?"
>And just like this, the news we ignored is fixed half a year later.
I was in stitches reading this, probably because if I were in his shoes, I would have said the exact same thing.
To clarify, that's what I'm going to ask him,.
I don't think they've elaborated on how auction houses are connected. Anyways, you're talking about Phantasmal-tier materials. Not exactly easy to come by.
I would use:
Where does that term come up in the story btw?
Well there aren't that many Ancients, though, right?
It would be plausible to have an Ancient help you get these materials, for the purpose of helping them, right?
I mean, I'm sure it's expensive. I just think there were enough Lvl 90s to undertake the quest that rewards it that the materials would be available for purchase.
I feel like they should be able to perform lesser magics with lower-quality materials though.
So he stalled Log Horizon for half a year in favor of other projects you're saying? Nice.
There's a group of Ancients on every server (like Knights of Izumo on Yamato, who are 'missing'). And I think they have more pressing matters to deal with like half of them in the world already being killed off by the <Genius> monsters
Ah, okay then.
It comes up in Volume 6, it's the name of the Princess of Spring who betrays Lugrias, the guy in the ice sword that controls the Person of the Land wearing the Powered Armor.
Expense is not even the issue, they're super super rare drop from end game raids.
Hohoho, I guess Maoyuu wasn't a big enough success for him to care.
I think it was more because
Yeah but they're Ink and Paper. Just how many people would hold onto them/be using them right now? Even if only 12 people in all Yamato had done the quests, that's still 11 possible sellers. Assuming the population ratio holds true, Akiba would have 5 potential sellers in the city.
I've not read that far. Maybe a reference to this:
Well, the quest in particular, was a 1 time quest. So you would need to find another source.
>Weeks ago people didn't like Rudie for being an aggro-stealing DPSing scrub.
Surprise, people on /a/ are fucking idiots who've never watched an anime in their lives and don't understand character development arcs.
Considering only 500 Phantasmal items are added every expansion per server, and each Phantasmal item is unique. I really really doubt it.
Do you guys realize that Rudy will have to part with Isuzu when things return to normal? ;_;
What do you mean, "return to normal"?
Old world comes back, ET disappears.
So you haven't been paying attention. Got it.
Isuzu is like the blandest girl in LH
the novels are translated somewhere, right? I can't seem to find them, anyone know where to get them?
Does nobody read the OP's anymore? That's what that whole block of text is there for.
>I can't find them
You didn't even look, dipshit.
How did you even manage to find your way into the thread without looking at the OP.
j-jokes on you I was only pretending to n-not have read the OP
Mamare hasn't dealt with the question of the Westlande and Eastal empires having lander spies and saboteurs among the Akiba staff. The Round Table, the production guilds, and the research guilds all make use of landers who have free access to rooms and their documents. In many cases, it's the landers that courier, copy, sort, and handle the mail system. I would have thought Shiroe or one of the other prominent guild members would have brought up the point of intellectual property security by now.
Can you explain the differences between your sentence and the other one? I'm still confused by Japanese grammar.
Maybe? It's an incredibly obscure reference though.
He's probably a proponent of the "Replaced World" theory.
Broadly we have three theories about the events of the Apocalypse.
The Elder Tale world overlayed our world and is slowly taking its place. There is no real world to return to.
>The Future World
The Elder Tale World is the distant future of our Earth, and the Adventurers travelled through time to reach it. Whether you believe they can change the past by going back to their time with foreknowledge or not depends on whether you believe their current world is a product of their actions or not.
>Video Game World
A theory which holds that they're in an alternate universe that was created when the Elder Tale game was made or thatw as the basis for the Elder Tale game, and that there is a way to return to their universe.
like all the other incredibly obscure references?
In casual speech, one wouldn't commonly prefix the sentence with boku. ログホラ is the nickname the author uses to refer to Log Horizon. I assume you meant "question" so you had a typo, its supposed to be shitsumon 質問 and って is like, quoting something. And you would use the で particle, not を for referring to "in English" there.
I mean, it's the name of the house/town that the Brothers Grimm grew up in. That's like, not even on the order of other obscure anime references, like A Baou A Qu being an ancient Malay legend about an invincible beast atop a divine tower.
Bleh, I made so many beginner mistakes. And I know I learned about all those points in school. It's been too long.
I for one strongly support the last theory, especially when you take into account that the expansion name is Homesteading the Noosphere.
Don't beat yourself up too much. I totally intend to review my Genki books in the near future, as I've gotten rather rusty on certain stuff myself.
Had to look up some of the finer points of the に particle recently for some stuff I was translating, and had a facepalm afterwards.
It's what happens when you take classes intermittantly for 6 semesters, then go 5 years past that without putting much effort into practicing it.
But the Noosphere isn't real, Anon.
I prefer a variant on theory three. This entire world is a video game, like the worlds of Star Ocean and Infinite Space being controlled by unseen GMs, and the Adventurers are all pawns in some experiment that will leave their hearts broken when they're finally freed from it.
Was Minori the only one with a 24 hour cooldown spell in the group?
Only thing I find silly in all of this: Why didn't Nyanta or Naotsugu run after them to supervise? He could just sit nearby regening in case something like the Dire Wolves happened, one-shot them, then sit back down.
>he thinks marmalade sensei writes sad endings
Was that a 24-hour cooldown?
Holy motherfucker. And the show made a big deal about a 10 minute cooldown in episode 3
Yeah Mamare loves his world building too much, he wouldn't go for a cop-out like that
Too many Sahuagin at the beach, they were needed there. The goblins were only sending in small hunting parties.
The Noosphere isn't real indeed, Anon, it is their minds.
However, the theory you just mentioned is indeed pretty interesting.
They were holding back the thousand Sahuagin invasion by Chouchi, and Minori's group said it was only going to check out the supposedly small groups by the outer parts.
He'd never, but still.
I know Samurai has a 24 hour cooldown too. Not sure about the others
Minori is alpha as fuck
>inb4 someone calls Minori's role useless
Pisses me off. I want to create an OP that explains why they need Minori in the party
It's like raiding in WoW but in Alt-Z mode (where your UI is completely hidden). And only one person in the party is allowed to have a UI.
I'd like to see the healers healing after THAT
Already done. It was so shit Jebus decided to sing it alone and did a better job than all of the others combined.
marmalade doesnt seem like most of those hack writers that usually go for that kinda stuff for the sake of drama
I mean shit he let rudy live
>and the Adventurers are all pawns in some experiment that will leave their hearts broken when they're finally freed from it.
>implying the adventurers are actually real
If they can create VR like seen in LH they can create characters that think they are real people. There's nothing preventing everything in LH being a lie. At the very least if the players are real their memories have been tampered because otherwise they couldn't have been dragged into the VR.
>LFM> Corridor wather
Well to be fair, the contract thing saving him was a nice introduction extension to the concept of overskill before it blew up into a thing where everyone in akiba wanted learn one.
There was no VR in LH though.
THAT'S WHAT THEY WANT YOU TO THINK!
>Area 51 is a place in Elder Tales
I want this so bad.
It could be a story of a top secret government employee who took a quick break and played Elder Tales in the facility and suddenly got transported.
Now he has to make his journey to the nearest town/city fighting aliens and monsters and shit.
In first person.
their ET bodies are used fighting though, they just needed to sync the memories of body and spirit into one at the beginning
So what you're saying is, our world was a fake that only existed to give these Adventurers created by World Fraction a personality?
There's three paths that explain what could have happened.
They're all just computer simulation, nothing's real.
Adventurers are real people but dragged into virtual simulation and got their memories tampered to prevent them from knowing this for some reason.
Fucking magic. The problem with this theory is which world is the creation of magic or are they both real. Then the issue is also who started this whole fucking mess with Elder Tales with their magic (ET devs or whoever pulled the 2nd world fraction) to cause players to intervene in the world. Honestly the whole mess with this magic theory is why the fuck anyone in our world would do magic like this. And the only real answer would be "it's magic, I don't have to explain shit."
Im going with the third one
maybe they ancient alvs profitized a future catastrophy and with their impending doom they set out a plan and needed the extra mind power of another world
It was all Maou's fault
The main problem is Minori is not shown using her barriers, so it looks like she's just standing there with full mp.
Well, I tweeted Mamare.
>Shiroe ranked 9th in Men
Season 2 confirmed, it's too popular to not get one

I'm guessing that the world is gradually becoming like ours due to the influence of adventurers?
Maybe they're just perceiving the world differently because they're becoming more integrated into it? Like, because it was a game to them before it retained the aspects of the game they played, but the longer they stay there the more their perception alters until they see this world as real and their past world as a fake game?
I phrased that badly.
What I mean is, basically, the propertis of their existence, like the menu systems and the coooking/crafting menu and the world being half-sized, are only like that to the Adventurers themselves.
But, the longer they stay in the world, the more they come to see it as the real world, with rules and properites that would make sense to them in their original world. So NPCs are people now, they can start making things independently of the menus, and the world no longer seems as small.
Not really, they measured distances and found that they're actually expanding in volume 6.
I meant that it would be kinda weird and sad ending if they never returned to their real world families and friends.
>Crusty will never see his cat again
You forgot one:
The idea that the game world already existed in a parallel universe and the videogame is just the link to the real world.
Maybe the spell that created adventurers basically caused a memetic virus to infect the developers of the game. So they were driven by their vision of a world that actually exists.
Did anyone else feel that this exposition on "Seeing thirty seconds in the future" was cringe-worthy bullshit?
It's one of those cases of anime trying to make something sound special.
Extrapolating into the future is an inherent ability of brains. And you wouldn't be able to command your forces if you weren't capable of seeing the flow of battle as well as possible results of all interactions.
Yeah was that actually in the novels?
>And only one person in the party is allowed to have a UI.
Real life feedback is far better than most UIs.
The link that you have to a videogame is generally of extremely low bandwith.
It's just like comparing a racing game to driving a car. Even with a steering wheel with force feedback, a real car is still far easier to handle because of all the kinds of feedback that the game simply can't give you. Like your gearbox protesting when you shift sloppily.
What a shady company -- all they're doing is adding more space between the Points of Interest!
With the exception of swapping Krusty and Rudy's placement, I find this ranking list to be supurb.
Hes just saying Shiroe is mentally acute when it comes to estimating the amount of mana and stamina classes should have at certain intervals or phases of an encounter. Most people can only see whats in front of them, with rough guesstimates of where the tanks, healers, and ranged dps are at 5-10 seconds ahead. This implies Shiroe has studied all classes and their abilities, and that he is able to handle pressure in first person better than any other prospective raid leader in Akihabara.
For example, Shiroe would be able to confidently order someone to battle rez a fallen teammate at a certain time within a 30 second window. Normally, such an order can only be given in a 5-15 second guesstimate when a window of opportunity is about to emerge. That frees up time for him to focus on other aspects of an ongoing battle.
> If i use this powerful ability it will piss off the monster and it will attack me.
I can see into the future!
Yeah. it's pretty cringworthy to anyone who's played an MMO. I think it's mostly a dramatization of mundane aspects for people who dont play an MMO so they'd find it cool. Same thing with all those "factics" that are literally noob level stuff that even the stupidest players have at least SOME inkling of how to do. They might do it badly but rarely does a player fail to fundamentally understand stuff like DD hits monster.
Just remove the silly time estimates and percentages and all is well. It's still kinda silly, but not in the "Holy shit that piece of metal is a full 30 degrees warm!" way. Those time estimates mean jack shit and will vary depending on the situation.
If I'm playing a match in Dust, I can predict the outcome of the game fifteen minutes ahead by looking at the leaderboard and seeing that the enemy team has twelve corp-aligned players while I'm running with randoms.
Except in Shiroe and Minori's case they predicting and tracking hp/mp %'s while people are actively using their skills and getting hit. They're also redirecting the skills and movement of their forces based on the future actions of the enemy. It's pretty impressive. And don't say most MMO players can do this because you'd be full of shit. Most people knly mnow how to mash keys and not stand in AoE, in ild and new MMO's alike.
Still seems like basic stuff to me but maybe I just wasn't in groups that suck? A bit too much micromanaging for my taste since with most enemies the strategy is already known and.or fits into already established tactics in some form or another.
NEEDING a strategist equivalent only occurs vs monsters that do specific actions at certain hp% , abilities set on timers, attack patterns changes/forms in general, or other similar things to remind people that X event is about to happen soon. It's basically just a guy who does some basic notifications for timing. Otherwise everyone should already know what to do or improvise as a reaction to what a monster does.
This is not some mash button because new games are sooo easy thing. This is because that role being held by a single person is not NEEDED. Sure there's a basic level where keeping track of MP is needed but on that end everyone halfway decent can do that. At minimum the designated puller can keep track since the best parties actually have multiple monsters brought in so that the dps never stop attacking. The skill is not impressive and doesn't matter until you do something stupid like bring a monster with no mp.
After some thought I guess Eve online probably requires a strategist since humans are more intelligent than AI but otherwise shiroe type tracking is not needed nor does it have any effect in fights.
It makes sense for huge battles with multiple squads, but in that situation it was really overkill.
It's kind of hypocritical - First they shout about how adventurers are free and then they need to be babysitted.
Normally, you'd run on the assumption that everyone knows what they need to do. That's why people have classes to focus on.
Only really tough encounters with many players need a control role.
As for EVE, Wired just made an article about the latest clusterfuck. I dream of the day when stuff like that actually affects Dust.
It actually has a lot of effects, but yes, you probably can't see that because you played in groups that knew what they're doing. Playing with a PuG or training up beginners makes it so that you gotta know some shit and have sufficient management skills to not get everyone wrecked.
Still, it's pretty impressive that Shiroe can see 30 seconds ahead. As stated previously in-thread (this or a previous one, I might be mixing them up), it's hard to keep focus of your own HP and the battle while in first person, especially with a much more realistic combat. Shiroe can't just handle regular combat or raids, but also PvP, which sometimes isn't as neat and predictable as you'd expect.
From what can be gathered, the dungeons have bosses that do specific things at certain percentages, and have special moves as well. A strategist in parties doesn't only make sense, but is also be a requirement if you want to clear a dungeon with minimal or no losses. Raids would be on a whole different level then, much harder, so kudos to Krusty too.
Large scale battles like these? With thousands of players at the same time, all communicating through a telepathy network? It's a good network, but it's not as fast as when you're in a raid behind a monitor, talking to everyone through a voice chat. Granted, Shiroe laid down the plan hours beforehand, and the field officers/Krusty were the ones making the calls, but even so, having someone who can still see half a minute ahead in real situations is very handy.
Then again, it's just my opinion that Shiroe and Krusty are essential to such battles, and that their hindsight is quite impressive.
You are free to disagree in any way, shape, or form, as our points of view do vary.
>After some thought I guess Eve online probably requires a strategist since humans are more intelligent than AI but otherwise shiroe type tracking is not needed nor does it have any effect in fights.
Funnily enough, I just read this:
>By now, time dilation—which allows Eve’s servers to cope with huge loads—was slowing the game to 10 percent of normal speed. This has tactical implications, because it determines how often Doomsday cannons are used. The massive weapons require 10 minutes in real time to cool between blasts; time dilation expands that to nearly two hours.
>“It becomes a game of managing Doomsdays,” Murph said. “Each individual fleet commander is relaying to me who has available Doomsdays, and I coordinate who should shoot at what target.”
>players in MMOs know how to not stand in fire
lel good one
>it's hard to keep focus of your own HP and the battle while in first person, especially with a much more realistic combat
That depends a *lot* on HUD design.
Centered HUDs, even in twitch shooters, allow you to keep awareness of your HP.
I'm personally of the opinion that every player in a group needs to have the same pull. If you have a scrub with no skill whatsoever, you'll want him to train in solo battles first.
Then again, I come from RTS/FPS background, where group battles made it very tempting to play badly in the knowledge that the rest of the team will offset your shit play. For RTS, with groups ranging from two to five players, (So similar size to team scrub) you lay out plans beforehand and then excecute them. Communication is done to notify of team progress as well as unexpected changes in the situation. Both things that a battlefield overseer would be useful for, but at those small team sizes it's an insane opportunity cost to occupy a player entirely with watching the battlefield.
Then again, if a player dies, he'll be able to focus on giving tactical insight, which can sometimes allow for comebacks even when you are one player short.
>but at those small team sizes it's an insane opportunity cost to occupy a player entirely with watching the battlefield.
In the situation you're describing, sure, but for team scrub it's not much of a difference because not only is she still using her barriers, which is what she would mostly be doing anyway, even if she was focused completely on healing, but having a better idea of how the fight is going allows her to use them more effectively.
In GW2, there are no tactics. All WvW comes down to is blob vs blob.
Wasn't she also managing their MP, if they run out of MP they are fucked as it takes forever to get it back.
Hey, I'm all for shitting on GW2 because it's a horrid game, but that's not true at all. A well-organized WvW group can take down unorganized zergs twice their size, and that's saying nothing of siege weapons.
I understand the idea of a central HUD, especially since you come from RTS/FPS, but in Elder Tale it's an organized clusterfuck, so to speak.
shows that the status screens are a bit big, and in episode one you can see Naotsugu struggles with the UI at first. You need someone who can calmly put all the HP/MP screens around them and check on the battle.
In the LN, if memory serves, Minori helped with some spells too to mitigate damage, so she wasn't just sitting around. Shiroe does the same, he helps with buffs/stuns/debuffs while keeping an eye on everyone.
One could argue that it's the healer's job to do that, but not all have that sort of organization and hindsight, as I've said. Besides, beginner/intermediate healers would feel the need to heal whoever needs it the most right away, usually not caring about percentages. I've lost count of how many times I've been spike-healed as a tank when I could've taken ~20% more damage so no over-healing occurred.
Shiroe and Krusty (and even Minori to a scrub-extent) (she was still pretty alpha) not only monitor the field, but also perform their duties as expected.
Yes, she was, I believe there's a time where she tells Rudy to lay off a little, that's probably so he doesn't run out of MP so soon. It does take forever to be replenished.
That's also true. In the latest episode, for example, she told Serera when to heal Tohya, not because she didn't know he was taking damage, but because it would be a waste of MP to heal him when he had lost less HP than the spell heals.
Why does this guy always get the best girls?
Oh, yeah. I had forgotten that there used to be well-organized WvW groups. It's honestly been so long.
They still exist. Just on the T1 servers, though.
But he doesn't have Serara.
He already had Raynaesia to bully, he doesn't need Serara.
>He doesn't need Serara
>Anyone not needing Serara in their lives.
I'm sorry, I don't understand what you are saying.
Serara a irrelevant and boring
That's kind of a basic thing for a healer to do in the first place.. I do that to begin with unless there's insane MP regen at the time or it's vs a boss level monster where I don't feel like hearing the tank's bitching because i didn't top them off before they died from a crit or turn of bad luck(usually them running out of range) when I had near full MP.
I get that they're noobs but running around in a dungeon all week didn't teach them mp management?
Rudy's years on end of grinding didn't teach him mp management despite the fact that he specifically favors orb of lava thanks to it's mp efficient properties?
>Minori helped with some spells too to mitigate damage, so she wasn't just sitting around. Shiroe does the same, he helps with buffs/stuns/debuffs while keeping an eye on everyone.
That makes far more sense to me.
So her role isn't "overseer", which is insane at such a small scale, but actually "pure support" who can add tactical insight due to her placement and the comparable ease of using her abilities.
>Rudy's years on end of grinding didn't teach him mp management despite the fact that he specifically favors orb of lava thanks to it's mp efficient properties?
Not to mention - Does he even have the same HUD overlay as the adventurers?
I mean, he seems to be compatible with that stuff, but wouldn't a natural born person have some other way of measuring MP? Gut feeling or something?
Why the fuck is Jesus Yamato there?
BD 1 is uploaded.
Will he ever stop adjusting his glasses?
I dont think he has a hud overlay
remember MP is tied to mental state, Rudy got really tired after being low on mana
He does have a HUD overlay but it isn't as detailed as of the adventurers.
Mana is basically soul power so yeah you can feel it. Marielle for example nearly collapsed and generally just felt like sleeping whenever she ran out of mp due to the strain. Keeping track of M is probably about as simple as how you can tell how tired you are after exercising only the fatigue is mental instead.
so mana pots are basically energy drinks that taste like water?
I can't wait for Season 2 where we'll have BLACK BOSS lookalikes as the energy drink to restore MP.
>Adventurers invent television
>Advertisements for it everywhere
>"Long fight got you down? Drink new BLACK BOSS MP potion!"
Anyone want torrent of NCOP from BD? It's telecined though because
I want it
I would drink the shit out of that MP potion, to be honest.
About that Drama CD in the opening post.
Is there a download or torrent for it anywhere? I can only find the opening and ending singles on nyaa.
>固有名詞ですから「sutu inaw」でしょう。Religion tool of willowでもあります。
People still use that?
It's still legitimately used for anime on BDs when the OP or ED is different framerate from main show (Precure, other kids shows) but this is telecined solely because Japan is incompetent
(the episodes themselves are not telecined)
Chances for BDs having blood instead of bubbles?
I would guess 0.
I knew it was a fucking two-parter name! >>101828110
W-What about Marielle cleavage?
What is Religion tool of willow? Her title?
Forget Maryelle, what about Nazuna ;_;
Will Nazuna ever look remotely cute in the anime?
That is what she is named after I guess.
Only relevant result I got from google.
Also her title is 春楡の娘, which is either Daughter of the Japanese Elm or Spring Elm.
Nope. She's way too much of a side-character.
Anime only up to book 5 is suffering.
So, what he's saying is
>It's a proper noun, so it should be "Sutu Inaw." It should also be Religion Tool of Willow
I'm not sure. She already has the title of Lady of Spring, after all.
Well, he probably wrote out her title in Japanese and ran it through Google Translate, and that popped out Religion Tool of Willow.
So she's the Princess of Spring and the Daughter of the Spring Elm?
Judging by >>101866337 Mamare's probably saying that's what she was named after. Also I'm not the Anon who tweeted him.
Oh wow, that result. Makes so much more sense than the town of Steinau, though I applaud the anon who found that one as well for trying.
That sounds kind of cool.
Where does Princess of Spring ceom up from? JPwiki says nothing about that. Or is that some jap->chinese thing
> It depicts two Ainu men making sacred prayer stick called "Inaw" in the Ainu language, a type of sacred prayer stick for ceremony as a woman and children sit and look on their activities.
>Inaw which is usually made of willow sticks, are sacred shaved sticks that symbolize birds, which act as messengers to carry the host's prayers to the Gods. Inaw take different forms depending on the God being addressed, and each individual God has a specific type of Inaw associated with it.
>Men who had responsibility for communicating with these Gods, had to learn to carve Inaw correctly, with precision and beauty as well as all the necessary proper conducts of the prescribed rituals and ceremonies.
It's in Volume 6, when the Murderer is revealing the backstory behind Lugrias.
It's Ainu language, by the way. Part of Ainu shamanism. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inau
Sorry, I'm just passing through and too lazy to read the rest of the thread (or that far into LH) to see if anybody mentioned that or if it were common knowledge already or what
They dont really need to invent TV. They can just Hijack the crystal Ball network and put stuff on there.
Beat me to it, I'm not a big social media guy and I live in a stupid time zone.
>It's a proper name, so it should be "Sutu Inaw." It's also a "Religion Tool of the Willow."
Which we can assume was run through Google Translate and is the Inaw prayer stick brought up by other anons.
Which is interesting because the Ainu are the native people of northern Japan/Hokkaido/Susukino.
Which fits, since that's where she and Lugrius was supposed to be.
I imagine that this is a Digimom S1 type deal
Anyway, I'm gonna put that on the guidelines page on BT.
I have that picture as a poster in my room, want me to take a pic ?
Does it say 春楡の娘 on the page where Lugolas is talking about her?
Also it's Lugrius, stop using Lugolas, it sounds retarded and not remotely right.
Add it to the guidelines and change it in the chapters.
I would but I don't want to go on BT. You can do it.
I'll do it after work.
By the way, I wonder if Pipeline-anon finished his stuff for Shiroe.
Whoever does the glasses adjust image compilation, you missed grey scrub.

>The girls of Cocoa brown guild
they sound delicious
Why is it that no one has glasses that fit in this game?
I think this is the important issue, here.
>The summoners from black sword knights who visited the new home of Log horizon
This better be from before giraffe-tan
Are you talking about eyeframes that look out of place? There are worn down executive office buildings and rusted out cars. The original designs were probably salvaged from early age looters who broke into abandoned stores.
Even glass that fit slide down your face at times, especially after physical exertion.
>Akatsuki who only wanted to maintain her relationship with Shiroe so far is probably at her limit? In this situation, she has to face the people around her.
Akatsuki confirmed for losing. Too introverted and shy, not aggressive enough.
She's still main girl
Are the Guard magic suits supposed to be translated as "Mobile Suits?" Because I keep thinking of Gundam when I read that.
Wouldn't Enchanted Arms or Powered Armor be a better term?
There are series where the main girl hasn't won. Look at Kimi no Iru Machi and Cowboy Bebop.
>Kimi no Iru Machi
But they got married.
Is Lugrias the "Ice Cliff Hero" or is that supposed to be rendered differently?
Hero of Ice Wall would be the literal translation
Are you retarded with you comparisons out of ass?
Rage machine is fucking trainwreck from what I heard, don't give shit who won, but I'm sure is main girl.
And Faye was never serious love interest.
Regardless romance in LH isn't important plot point. I would say there is big chance that Shiroe won't end up with any of girls.
Watch him end with the only girl that matters.
Delusional pls go. Too late introduced character that's villain-in-making
>Shiroe ends with Nureha and Akatsuki gets with Touya because it's the only thing left.
>introduced in 5 of the 15 planned books
Nanami was the main girl of Kimi no Iru Machi and she lost. Cowboy Bebop, main girl of the series was Faye. She had a crush on Spike, but the feelings weren't requited at all.
Hahahaha you're killing me.
All hail Giraffe-tan.
I never watched nor read that shit and I know that Yuzuki was main girl
It's just like how Tiffania won Zero no Tsukaima!
>I love Giraffes!
>The second I
>I pestered Boss about this.
>Y'know, persuading him is difficult
Why don't the Adventurers just drill their way to the DATABASE?
They don't have a drill.
Nureha is love.
You can't deny that there is a great charm to her.
Or maybe you can, in which case I lament for your blindness.
Can't they just invent one? I mean they did make a train....
>people don't like a Gary Stu
What a surprise.
Nureha is slut
How old is Log Horizon's writer? The fact that he's dropped by /a/ is seriously inspiring me to finish my novel.
The faster you deal with it, your life will be easier
I can't, she's so good...
Genuinely curious, how is he a gary stu?
Thanks. I'll get to it.
Coelho's books are the literal definition of garbage. You can pretty much only buy them in supermarkets next to Cosmopolitan and Reader's Digest. The fact that you quote him just makes you look all the more retarded
>one of the Druids skills are called Fierce Mold
Well, he is Brazilian.
Even if he makes shit, what the other dude quoted makes a lot of sense.
Is there a pdf of each book?
There's a metric fuckton of quotes out there about procratination, most far more insightful and inspirational. If you're going to bother quoting someone on the matter, at least make it a better quote or from someone worth quoting.
"You will never do what you really want to do" - Anonymous.
Effort spent disparaging someone else could be used to build up one's own self.
Let go of your hate and disdain, if only for your own sake.
Pulling a quote off the internet doesn't reflect very much on his person. Your insecurities are showing, anon.
So what's your opinion of constructive criticism?
I think it's unrelated to what's going on in this thread. The criticism towards Mr. BR was neither constructive, nor was it actually directed at the individual in question. It only served to inflate the poster's own sense of ego.
It's useful. That was not an example of it. That post was just a glorified "Yeah, well you're dumb!".
And that answer is unrelated to the question I asked.
>Effort spent disparaging someone else could be used to build up one's own self.
So, what, we should never correct others? Be completely self-centered?
He's just good at fighting and getting bitches wet, that's not enough to make a Gary Stu. If there's a Stu in Log Horizon it's Krusty or maybe Shiroe
To address your question more directly:
>effort spent disparaging
>adj. expressing the opinion that something is of little worth; derogatory.
>adj. showing a critical or disrespectful attitude.
Constructive criticism is not derogatory. It is a respectful attempt to improve others by detailing the problems associated with a work while offering useful advice for doing better next time.
>So, what, we should never correct others?
Post >>101879313 was constructive criticism itself. It was an attempt at addressing another poster's crass behavior while communicating the need for compassion and empathy, which, I am beginning to fear, may have fallen on deaf ears.
On a note more related to the topic of the thread:
How are everyone's pieces of derivative fiction coming along? I'm working on a Texan themed piece, which is both patriotic and critical of the Lone Star State's coming into being.
>adj. expressing the opinion that something is of little worth
That's exactly what >>101879313 is doing.
>Krusty dies and is constantly shackled by administrative duties
>Shiroe is Michael Corleone
nope no stus here
God damn it anon.
Very helpful, thanks anon.
Why are you torturing yourself by playing that shit?
Well, there's the well-known quote "DO IT FAGGOT" by Anonymous.
And I've been enjoying it so far
So when does Mamare announce results?
What? When did this happen
Look at the wiki in the OP. It's happened twice.
it's a steamboat you jackass.
Though they're going to make a train system soon hopefully.
Didn't Mamare say that while that would be a good idea, the resources required to restore all the tracks would be ridiculous?
>>my only question i would like answered is are the train tracks from japan still there in the half gaia project? fixing them up would create a great and safe pathway between cities and it would be exciting to see the people in akiba make a steam train.
>Many of them have rusted away, and it would take an enormous sum of money to restore them all.
>But it's a wonderful idea.
What about the infinite amount of gold Shiroe gets?
Anybody got that /glassesadjust compilation?
You mean?: >>101879080
So I can find half rimmed double bridged glasses but not ones where the rims are on the bottom. Anyone have better luck than me?
Well, time to make a gif.
Someone should ask Mamare if a mixed child would be either a Lander or Adventurer.
He already said it would be touched upon later
time to wait forever
Henrietta needs better art.
I'd rather her win then chuuni ninja
but then agian shiroe really doesnt feel like wanting anyone for a loooooooooooong ass time himself
Well he definitely feels stuff for Nureha, and he was already attracted to Henrietta from the first chapter, though he felt outclassed by her.
>The view from Nureha's stalking familiar
Would you an Akatsuki?
>Tohya would be legless if he returned to the real world
>Demikas would lose his wife
>Isuzu would lose her pet dog
>Akatsuki would return to a world where she would always be judged by her height
>Tetra would be a boy again
>Nureha would be forced into her horrible life again
>Soujirou would be denied to all the girls in WWB because they're scattered all over Japan
>Shiroe would be stuck messing with CAD for the rest of his life
The ending will be suffering.
At least Naotsugu and Maryelle would be able to meet up ;_;
jokes on you sir. if anything, the story will end with them accepting their new lives in the database because it's a vast improvement over almost everyone's real life. it'll illustrate that change can be a good thing, and that one shouldn't cling needlessly to the past when your present could be a blessing in disguise, etc etc.
Their first IRL meeting
>Accepting their new lives
Yeah, let's forget about all their families in the past, their friends who weren't logged in, their jobs that they loved or spent their lives preparing for, and their hobbies like buying figma or watching anime that they can no longer enjoy.
>NHK-E having any say in what marmalade puts in his novels
you think video gamers like these would be used to updates in their lives
also all the new flavors of the world make it better
how about you learn the characters back stories before posting something that makes you look ignorant. If you had lived a life like Tohya, or Akatsuki, or Nureha, or even Isuzu, would you wanna go back?
Hint: FUCK NO you wouldn't.
Bah, forgot my pic.
>Normal-looking high school girl with normal high school girl fears
>Not ever wanting to see her younger sister ever again
>Okay with his parents being effectively dead to him at only 13 years old.
Maybe you wouldn't.
damn straight i wouldn't. RL blows dicks when I could be an adventurer and connect with other adventurers to go adventuring with. not to mention all the shenanigans we could get up to with the people of the land.
Which scene is this from, anyway?
Except people with sad stories aren't the only people in Log Horizon. Most people are normal.
And even then, these people have (maybe not Nureha) reasons to go back.
>The way of returning home is some kind of portal so they can choose if they want to go back.
>There are tearful goodbyes when Isuzu chooses to stay with Rudy.
This episode felt pretty horribly directed
How much does gear impact player strength?
Can you twink lowbies?
Considering they equipped Valkyrie Mail on Raynesia, I haven't got a damn clue.
And there in lies the delicious character struggles.
I will be most interested in seeing how Mamare deals with their dilemma of wanting to return home vs. sacrificing everything they've gained inside the database.
Should prove to be powerful stuff.
level requirements still exist.
look at the episode where they gave Rudy his gauntlets. he was the only person in the noob group high enough level to equip them.
No he was the only magic dealing class among them so they gave him the gauntlets.
The Valkyrie Mail is for decoration. It's not actually very good.
What? I thought they gave it to him because it was a gauntlet suited for Magic classes and he was the only Sorcerer.
>Isuzu says goodbye to her family, her IRL friends, and her home to stay with ehr dog
I really don't think that's going to happen. She's only 15; she wouldn't want to say goodbye to her parents for the rest of her life.
Just as a note, it can be written as "Ruglius" or "Lugrius" in English.
I'd say the latter sounds much better.
your wrong. go watch ep. 17 again dude. the gauntlets require you to be lvl 25 to equip.
I swear, some people just don't pay attention.
The whole series has had weird pacing issues.
No, they do require level 25 to equip but they are made for magic damage classes.
Samurai boy would be the highest level among the group atm.
doesn't change the fact that there was a level requirement on the item that restricts it to characters of a higher level, which was the whole point.
Except, that's completely fucking wrong.
He was level 25, and barely got there. He was lower level than everyone else. But he was the only one among them who's class dealt primarily magic damage, so they gave him the gauntlets. You wouldn't give a +5 Holy Longsword to a Wizard, and you wouldn't give those gauntlets to any one else in the scrub party.
It was low-level armor, and was mainly to look good. But armor and equipment does boost stats and abilities.
That sounds impressive in my head, but I have no idea if this is actually true or not.
I think most people got confused because you said he was the only one with high enough level to equip them. Everyone could wear them by that point, even Serara was already 25 when they started the party.
Yeah, but even before they got the gauntlets Samurai boy would of been able to equip them.
Rudy got them because they were made for mage classes and since he was the only mage class in the party he GOT THEM.
More like he derailed his own point with an irrelevant (and wrong) example
i was incorrect in stating that he was the only one high enough level to equip them, but the original point that was raised by >>101891759 was completely answered. so jackasses like >>101892270 saying I'm 'completely fucking wrong' are being retarded and missed the entire ORIGINAL POINT because of their hyperautism.
My apologies if I forgot everyone else's level at that particular point in their scrubby adventures, but again, YES, level requirements ARE A THING IN THE GAME, and NO, you can't twink lowbies.
You did say something completely fucking wrong though and then tried to say you were right when you got called out for being retarded
And I now stand corrected. Moving on.
Checking the wiki on Raynessia's page doesn't provide any info for the Valkyrie Mail that she wore in her address to Akiba. Does anyone have any info on the items level or, if any, requirements?
I don't think there's any info on it.
This is the only info on here gear.
>"Yeah, no problem. From the overall viewpoint, it will be good if we push it to this level. Please prepare a set, I have the cape so you don't need to prepare that. Can you choose a suitable weapon? A 1-handed sword with a beautiful design, any equipment below level 4 will do... Akatsuki, can you rent a room for an hour, it will be fine even if it is small... No, the attack power doesn't matter, it just needs to look good."
So then it stands to reason that the Valkyrie Mail was probably a cosmetic item with no real stats.
No, it was probably just really low-level gear. I mean, her sword was a level 4 sword; Valkyrie Mail was probably comparable.
Costumes got their own slot?
>Shiroe used up his only adventurer contract for Rudy
>NEET princess will forever stay a level 14 Lander scrub
>She'll never tag along with Crusty's hunts and get powerleveled to 90
>She'll never wear armor again
>She's very mortal and might be a target for political assassinations
>She'll never get the D.D.D
She'll just grind on Krusty. She already gained two levels from it
She's lazy. She doesn't want to fight.
If Krusty just stood in front of her with only 1 HP and let her punch him would she get shitloads of EXP?
>within 5 levels
It wouldn't make sense to not get experience from things more than 5 levels above you.
Adventurers don't give EXP. It wouldn't make sense for bosses to get stronger by killing scrubs.
>exp from PvP
It's probably better to have that cursed hero bring every monster in the field's HP down to 30%, have a lower level person bring down their HP even lower to 1% via AoE, then have the princess show up and poke them all with a sword to get all the EXP.
Isn't EXP the crystallized psyche of both the demi-humans and the Adventurers? So whenever you gain EXP you're consuming the memories of defeated/reviving enemies? Thus, the Adventurers should drop EXP and allow bosses and demihumans to get stronger the more they kill them?
Slightly impressed by this deduction.
>Elder Tale v.Novasphere
I wouldn't put it past the tweests expected
inb4 death-leveling a spider to level 90
Level 100 Grand Frost Spider : has a special finisher skill that embeds a multitude of frost spider eggs inside a player's body. When the player dies, the eggs hatch and form a new batch of frost spider mobs with stat boosts they absorb from the player.
But you're ignoring how the system tracks the levels in the first place, yeah you might get the experience of defeating the player, but the system of actually giving you experience points towards leveling never existed in the first place.
Expanding on this, just like how eventually everyone can 'cook' basic thing like salads even without being chef or raising the level, their base chef level is still 1, because the system doesn't actually aknowlege the advancement and will not improve
But isn't that tied to everything starting to change and become more real in Volume 6? Prior to that, if you weren't a Chef then all you could do was add condiments. Even basic salads were beyond you.
>it made you forget your life and you become its servant/mad worshipper
Yes, but the point was even making salad then wouldn't give you any progress towards leveling up chef. Actually, making or doing anything outside of the old system wouldn't give you any progress at all since it wouldn't know. Which is why even with the world becoming more real killing players wouldn't grant experience points that goes towards a level, even for monsters, though they might learn and get better at it if they're semi-intelligent.
But there has to be a levelling system because monsters have actual levels, same as with the People of the Land. The only question would be whether Adventurers grant EXP after defeat, which I would be inclined to doubt.
Landers gain levels by going about their job. A farmers farm, guards train, hunters are out fighting monsters to protect their village. Hell Rayneshia got 2 levels over the course of a novel with no combat, she just did things as befitting of her position.
I'm not sure if monsters 'gain' levels at all, it might just be a number that represents their strength as determined by the system.
But the Goblin King becomes the Goblin King from being the strongest Gobbo. They explain that in Volume 4. He doesn't just get generated by the system.
The catch there is that's part of the systems event, it's not something that happened as a 'natural' occurance where he goes around slaughtering things. He just 'gain' levels, without even doing anything.
I figured there was some sort of gobbo-gobbo minor civil war that resulted in the strongest gobbo defeating and killing all other contenders, and thus gaining the EXP to become the Goblin King.
One does not simply go from a random strong gob to a raid level gob with a castle, unified tribes, summoned demons, creatures and everything in a few months without there being some sort of system assist
Let me pose a question for you ladies and gentlemen of /lhg/: what do you think are the limits of building/enchanting from scratch?
Would it be possible to make equipment that is better than the rare ones found in raids? Some RPGs allow you to fabricate items/gear that is miles superior to the dropped ones, so that got me curious.
Lastly, what would you equip? It's been discussed what classes we'd be, and our guilds/playstyle, but not our preferred weaponry or skills.
Nope, manufactured weapons are always inferior to Phantasmal weapons that drop from high-level raids.
What I'd equip would depend on my class. I'd be torn between Bard and Summoner.
It's been stated that phantasmals are pretty mich the top-tier, however you can produce things that match phantasmals in terms of strength, like Nao's new armor which apparently was newly developed by crafters in Akiba and matches up to phantasmal armor. Son't know about enchanting though.
And the magic armor of the guards are above Phantasmal in quality as well.
Not sure if that counts simce Alvs made them and no one knows how to anymore
Summoning seems more fun, and while Phantasmal equipment is the standard top-tier, I still wonder if there won't be a Blacksmith with an Overskill to manufacture items of similar or superior level.
I suppose only time will tell.
And I can't wait to see everyone's new items in the anime by Season 2.
Only in ~2015. ;_;
Either way, I'd wager those have broken stats and are incredibly superior, since there's no proof anyone stood their ground against the guards and survived/won.
... Is there?
>Eventually crafters become skilled enough to make powered robotic exoskeleton armor
>We mecha anime now
Well, not won per se...
>They make computers
>program an MMO for these computers
>people get sucked into it again
Giant mechs powered by treadmills run by enslaved gobbos coming soon.
Are there pdf downloads for the translated novels?
>Somebody makes Minecraft using Summoners and Enchanters
>Whole cities of Adventurers get hooked
>The world falls apart because Adventurers would rather play Minecraft than quest
Just as planned
Disregard that post, the download button is on baka-tsuki
Anyone going to celebrate Valentine's Day with their LH waifus?
Fucking episode 19 mang.
Also are they going to change some things for the anime?
It sounds somewhat like WH40k chaos stuff. Imagine genius boss monster destroying small noob town and repeatedly killing all players on respawn until they will be his mindless slaves. And then moving on with his new army.
Guys, why don't they have bicycles yet?
Just hammer the frame out of steel tubes and use hard leather instead of rubber for the wheels. The hardest part would probably be the chain and the brakes but they should be able to make the it with enough careful blacksmithing and who needs brakes?
Especially since adventurers seem to have infinite stamina wouldn't it be the perfect transportation device?
>You are now imagining Rudy and Lenessia being taught how to ride bikes like little children by Isuzu and Krusty
He is outside of the fact that he's not the protagonist.
Larger fan club
Super special uniquely skilled group that can defeat stuff that takes much more people normally and was part of the super ultimate team of ultimate destruction in the past.(not hard to do in my experience but it's there for later context since everything combined together is the part that makes it a gary stu thing)
immune to anything negative like the cake scene. he defeated it via summoning an even larger harem.
Even him being the first death was some grand act of chivalry and heroism plus he somehow avoided being one shotted like he should have been.
Stops a fight between two of the most powerful characters on the server instantly.
Ridiculously overpowered overskill that let him tank that city guard when it was getting bonus stats for each person in the city when said city had a population of over 30k. In the very same novel people had to actually evacuate the city AND turn off the magic circle to limit the guard's power.
The man is a gary stu. it's just that gary stus are much more fun when they aren't the main character like Jack Rakan.
I think I'm in love.
She's so sweet and cute.
>noone would mistake you for a bumpkin.jpg
>hard leather wheels
How about no. They could probably magic/alchemy up a better solution.
Learning to ride a bike episodes are generally fun, though.
There's no metal where I live but a few rubber trees are hanging about. I could totally see my country making some bike in the database via trading with other nearby countries.
Or just vulacnize some rubber. The Philippines and Malaysia should have enough rubber products if they ever start trading.
Shiroe will make a marriage contract for Krusty that will give Raynessia the Adventurer subclass right?
>implying Raynessia won't be forced to marry some old fat noble for political reasons
>Trying to NTR Krusty
I'm sure that will go over well.
I've heard resources are actually different then the real world
its why okapette or whatever is a steel ship
>Krusty opens the cathedral's doors
>Instead of saying "I oppose" like a normal person, he swings his axe and motions it to makes a crater between her and the old fat noble
>Wasn't a battle, no one got damaged
>"If you marry her, this place will be the last one you'll ever see."
Did he adjust his glasses afterwards?
Obviously, anon-san. Obviously.
>Implying that marrying Krusty couldn't be considered a political marriage.
I mean he is one of the primary leaders of the adventurers in Akiba
Somewhat but they do seem to at least spread them out a tad based on RL. Like the sugar for example was to the south apparently because the climate around the Akiba region in RL wasn't good for sugar.
It's not ironclad since they need to not have a server shortage of X thing but it seems to steer towards that if possible.
Some of the rubber trees are local landmarks here so I could see at least one existing as a source for me at least although alot of servers are going to have trouble if they have server exclusive resources.
Is there a way to ask mamare if the submission thing is still going on because the submission page is still up? I'd love to sprinkle some random trivia for world building from time to time.
Also is there a way to ask if any links to images or videos didn't get mangled by google translate? My own descriptions needed alot of visual help.
You forgot the run away with griffons
editions? Links? Pastebins? This isn't /a/ anymore, this is some kind of horrible proto-/ag/
Does Misa have wolf ears?
We don't see it yet
They could build and airship has well they already got a heat source that dont run out at all
I'm the type of guy that prefers to look at female sprites' butts, which is why I'd likely get sent into the Elder Tale world as a girl if I log in before the catastrophe.
Now, what would /a/ do if the same happened to them?
I'd likely not speak at all until my voice turns into a girl's too, and then flirt my way into getting free shit just like I used to do in my Ragnarok Online days.
>Now, what would /a/ do if the same happened to them?
I once leveled and helped a fat nerd who was playing as a female cleric without realizing it before.
If that happened, I'd probably get a potion to change or, unable to, I'd do the same, and not speak until my voice turns into a girl's.
Political marriages, son. Flirting your way for free things is the start, you gotta flirt your way into the high echelons of power.
It doesnt seem higher ups of the round table seem that way to be easily seduced
one more thing, I think the game has enough to attract actual females to play the game
things like feminine crafting considering they have alot of content for fashion and furniture
chicks dig that stuff
Ah yes, should've expected that.
What >>101908447 said. In my case though, I'd likely just try to gain a strong enough following so that I can create my own faction, then join in on the politics. The good thing is that I'm actually quite skilled at being a ranged DPS/support and have done quite a bit of archery back in school, so I can actually survive high-level fights at least. Still, my faction would probably turn into something like Marielle's, because I actually like teaching people the basics, the lore, tactics etc.
That they do. Most of the MMOs I played had costumes and girls that spent actual hundreds of dollars just rolling on the random costume chests or buying all the cute outfits.
They're like 70% of the profit for free MMOs right now.
to have your faction you'd either need something OP like nureha's overlay
or just be good
you also forget adventurer's probably had to sync with their spirit to their new bodies, meaning overtime people who where high level bards who may have not had good musical skill in the old world now have good musical talent in ET world
>things like feminine crafting considering they have alot of content for fashion and furniture
Pinterest the MMO
I'd play the shit out of that, now that you bring it up
I wonder how good ET's costume creation was pre apocalypse
if its like anything like the freedom that SCV gives you then holy shit
That's no problem then, because I've actually trained in martial arts and archery anyway. It was a few years back, but still, it should still count. I've also managed a few guilds over the years of playing MMOs, so I should be ok at least.
For a second there, I thought you were talking about Starcraft.
why would anyone talk about starcraft anymore
all the koreans already moved on to league
I think you're forgetting that this is their real world now, and you wont just be able to reroll or log out if someone calls you on it. Sure it may work for a while, but eventually one of your boyfriends, or even one of their friends will catch on, and then you'll end up with a completely destroyed reputation, or locked in a rape dungeon somewhere after getting ambushed.
Oh, Starcraft's still alive. Flash has gone down terribly, but Jaedong's still doing well, and Stork's picking up quite a bit of steam. Plus there's some non-bonjwa-but-on-their-level great talent like CJ's herO, Innovation, Soulkey and so on.
A few teams from Kespa died, and the eSF died off too, but Kespa got Prime, MVP and IM, and will likely bring Startale into the fray too.
Starcraft is still the premiere realtime strategy game, and it still has quite a bit of stars left, so they won't completely abandon it.
Which is why I wouldn't make it escalate to the point of relationships in the first place. Just being all cute and saying kind or heart-racing words is usually enough to get other guys to do what you want anyway.
Of course I'll be stuck with the character I chose on that particular night, but there's still appearance-changing potions if shit goes wrong, which is what I'd use as a last resort if everything collapses.
If the latter does happen, then I'll just work my way back up by joining some well known strong guild and making a name for myself.
Also the thread's gone over the limit, so making another thread might be a good idea.
appearance changing potions are really rare and not really common
To top it off it won't change your name, nor would it help you join a guild if you become known as a possible scammer.
Don't get me wrong it would still be possible, but you'd be playing a much more dangerous game.
Oh, I can work around that. I'm really good at getting names registered for characters that sound terribly common that there's a likelihood of other people having just about the same name.
"Oh, you have the wrong girl." etc.
This whole thing sounds much better than just grinding it out like the rest of them. Plus, fighting against the genius monsters will get rid of any bad rep anyway.
I pulled this in Runescape, and never had to worry about paying for things again. The free armor and weapons just rolled in.
I'm pretty sure I would have joined an all loli guild led by a loli vampire, there probably would be a massive loli orgy after the apocalypse happened.
Yeah, it's always worked in every MMO I've played on too. Taking advantage of the weaknesses of my own sex is something I find funny too.
That would sound quite terrible if you all did that when you just got transported into Elder Tale. The whole "tiny girls in an orgy all moaning like nerdy guys and grown men" thing sounds hilarious actually.
>or locked in a rape dungeon somewhere after getting ambushed.
well, maybe you should kill urself?
Implying a loli with a manly voice isn't sexy.
