Was the Colonel actually a good guy? I'm reading through the manga right now and many of the things he's said and done seem to have no ill will. He even treats the kids kindly when he's searching for Akira. I'm strictly talking the manga here.
Fuck the movie.
When was he a bad guy? I recall him being good in the movie as well.
What? He's always the good guy. Like, the best.
The hero Japan needed but never deserved
Ok so what's his deal here? He's threatening Kaneda. What are his intentions, exactly?
> Fuck the movie.

Not many adaptions to choose from anon.
Tetsuo was the antagonist
give up without resisting?
What the fuck? I swear people's reading comprehension on /a/ is close to 0. I've read the manga ages ago and I still remember that he was trying to stop Akira from awakening or trying to kill him. So he used all the resources available for that.
Hardly. More like the main character really. He's the one that got fucked, so he's taking his revenge on the world.
Truly the first edge master.
For such a threatening name and all the time they spent searching for him, he certainly is a cute little kid.
he was the villain of the series and the main character. Kaneda is more like the heroic antagonist here.
i'm a movie watcher and wat is this
Did OP just ask about a characters' motivations throughout the story without having read even half of the manga in the first place? As expected. The new age of morons
that page would of gone better if that 'bang' onomatopoeia was drawn on the above gun panel and the bottom panel with blank background.
yeah, the BANG kinda takes away the seriousness of the situation
also am i supposed to be reading this shit left to right? because it makes more sense that way...
Call the cops, I don't give a fuck. I like to research characters and plot even as I read a story.
Gee, I dunno, the manga?
Perhaps characters can have objectives that conflict with those of the protagonist without being mustache-twirling villains that enjoy kicking puppies.
Colonel is best Akira.
Tetsuo is a bitch.
He's tsun, he wants the D.
In the mogo he was just another mustache twirling villain who basically caused everything that went wrong in his life.
Fuck the Manga
Of course he was a bad guy. Don't you remember the part where he shaves his head and teams up with Vegeta to try and destroy the Earth?
I need to get around to the manga, but the colonel was by far my favourite character in the movie.
>Isn't a dick
>Cares about his men
>Doesn't want senseless bloodshed
He's a great example of a character defying the stereotype, you'd expect the colonel to be a hardass badguy who fucks up at every turn, and yet he's just a bro.
Need to get onto that manga.
So what did the ending of the manga try to convey?
Yes. The movie introduces him as the villain, and Tetsuo as a hero, but then there is a role reversal when Tetsuo goes mad with power. It was really well done.
The colonel was never bad guy in the first place. He was just a normal officer, manning the position assigned to him. There were no ulterior motives in his mind. He was to research the subjects, but not at the price of his men or the safety of the city. When all shit broke loose he broke the chain of command in order to try and save everybody.
