Let's talk about manga, any manga.
What are you reading? Are you enjoying it?
Has any manga impacted you so hard emotionally?
I've been reading Kimi no Iru Machi and raged so much that I cried like a bitch.
Now, please excuse me, I need to lie down and read some lighthearted manga to calm down.
I just finished Genshiken.
It's great, but Sasahara x Ogiue pairing seems like it came out of nowhere.
Reading oneshots currently.
If you don't buy manga then you are pure scum.
Show us your collection, anon.
Other than catching up on ongoing stuff, finally got around to reading Angel Densetsu.
It's not bad, but I'm halfway through and it's nowhere near as good as I was lead to believe.
It's not that great, I have about 400-500 volumes. Got maybe 20 more volume in the post and about to make another order.
saged blog, etc
I wanna hear someone's opinion on Sora no Otoshimono. Is the romance aspect of it good?
You should have seen enough threads around here to know enough to stay the fuck away from it.
how did I do?
re-reading Doraemon comics I collected when I was a kid. Fucking hell, the jokes still work.Rest in peace, Fujio-sensei.
Well, I don't know. I never pay attention to the threads of things I don't follow.
Is it that bad?
Is phoenix completely translated?
I know on AB they're doing some scanlation project for it.
Well, they are killing almost every character
Just finished chapter 12 of ZAI X 10. It's by the same author of danshi koukousei no nichijou so I'm lmao pretty much.
I just found about Abnormal-kei Joshi.
Man is that good.
catched up with akame ga kill.
other than that, the usual sunday stuff: kingdom, tog
also new chapter of all you need is kill and nnt
Finished/caught up recently:
- A girl by the Sea
- Prison School
- Akame ga Kill
- Boku wa Mari no Naka
- Yu Yu Hakusho
- Kokou no Hito
Except for Akame ga Kill I recommend everything.
Question to all of you who collect physical manga:
How do you keep your collection in top shape? I'm especially concerned about paper yellowing.
Damn, I didn't expect it to be that brutal.
buy those comic wallets and store your comics in them, they need to be proper wallets since acidic plastic will damage your collection over time.
Regulate the humidity and amount of UV light in your room too.
You use bags and change the bags every 3 years because by then they won't protect your manga from acid corrosion anymore.
I never changed the bags.
you can get anti-acidic wallets you know.
Huh, that's a lot of hassle. Can't I just put my manga on bookshelves and put some dehumidifiers in the room?
I see you're italian.
Do you know if I can buy manga translated in italian if I don't live near Italy?
Don't whine you piece of shit, sure you what you want with your manga.
They will consume and won't protect your manga anymore after sometime.
I think I saw this question in another thread the other day, was that you?
Try every european Amazon store, better the italian one, of course. I find german and french manga/anime on the italian store, should be the same for italian stuff on the other stores.
Anything other than Amazon? That site doesn't deliver shit where I live.
I wish it was easier to find mangs to pick up.
Some of the best series start off slow and get better, but I'm always afraid I'll pick up something and realize that it stays slow and uninteresting after reading 5 volumes.
Just curious, where do you guys get the plastic bags? I'd like to get some too but i'm not sure on what to get.
Try the charts on the wiki.
Really? I live in a third world shithole and they still deliver.
What country do you live in?
Don't worry anon. The ride has finally ended, you can rest now.
For anyone reading Yandere Kanojo, do you remember the chapter or context in which the subject of Tanaka's father's death came up? People were telling me he died in the thread, but I can't find the damn page. All I keep seeing are statements about divorce and remarrying.
Does /a/ know who Jiro Taniguchi is?
Eh, try the publisher sites but I'm don't think they will sell abroad.
These publishers should cover most of the italian market, check their stores.
Need help with the language?
Bought them at con and at my comic store.
Read more manga, make mistakes and gain experience, after some time you'll understand more easily if you'll like something or not.
No, anon, the ride never ends.
>Need help with the language?
No, sono italiano. Mi sono trasferito per colpa del lavoro di mio padre. Volevo comprare un po' di roba perchè l'Italia è piena di esclusive; e leggere in italiano mi aiuta a non dimenticare la lingua.
I haven't been reading much except for reading updates because this season is good and Bravely Default came out. I'm thinking of reading Kimi no Iru Machi so I can add it to the hallowed halls of "Shit I really wish I never started" with TLR and Negima.
What's wrong with Negima?
>Togashi, his wife and their children
Some meta stuff going on in Yu Yu Hakusho.
>the author giving advices to the MC of his manga
Togashi is a fucking genius.
Since he also disliked TLR, the ecchi manga genre is probably not really for him, I guess.
Which means he is gay.
Based Inoue, that's one of my favourite colour pages.
>What are you reading?
a buttload of ongoing manga
> Are you enjoying it?
The majority of it, yes.
>Has any manga impacted you so hard emotionally?
I'd say punpun, ultraheaven, homonculus and eden have impacted me emotionally in some way
Imagine having a physical manga collection in Japan. You'd need a fucking warehouse.
Scans dead at vol3
Do you think this is just me or actually a reference?
It's Biomega and Kandinsky.
>the ecchi manga genre is probably not really for him
Disregarding the fact that I love echii and like 50%+ of what I read is echii, the problem with them both is that their endings where awful compared to the rest of the series. Fuck cancelled series.
I'm currently reading Akumetsu, I'm on volume 6.
Granted that I have only read around 80 manga series, all of which I more or less enjoyed. This is by far the worst manga I have ever read, and I've read Wolf Guy by the same author. Although Wolf Guy was a trainwreck, it was entertaining to read.
Akumetsu doesn't even offer me shallow entertainment. 80% of the manga is about some stupid kid who preaches on about some conspiracy theorist bullshit about politics with huge fallicies backing him, he is just stupid and naive, and his solution to fixing Japan's economy is by killing any one that is rich and "evil". He has bullshit shounen superpowers that basically don't allow him to die, or to stop existing, so to say. The characters are all one dimensional and I don't care about anyone. The comedy falls flat.
5/10 manga. I only read it for the art, which isn't too great.
I like Aku no Hana quite a bit. Waiting for chapter 54 to be translated.
You sound like a masochist, anon.
Togashi art often resembles western art and paintings.
I am. I have never dropped a manga before unless it was terrifucking bad and I was sure of it. This is because I always hope to see that a manga will improve later on in the series. If it does and I drop it then I'll have missed out on something good and I can't judge it for what it really is.
I read Kokou no Hito in December and almost dropped it after the first volume, but decided to push on anyway, and I enjoyed it immensely after around volume 3.
>suddenly a vegetal vagina
I love you Togashi.
I'm finishing Kokou no Hito now, still have to read the last 4 volumes. I'm so hyped. It was definitely worth to buy it all.
This one reminds me of a rinascimental painting but can't remember which one now.
>dicks and pussies
Is this thread just me dumping Yu Yu Hakusho?
Why don't I have enough money to buy the new deluxe edition of Blame? Why?
Just finished reading this.
I recommend this manga if you like scifi mixed with wacky jokes. And the MC is a 40 years old homeless bum, a nice change if you're bored with all those highschool MCs. Oh, and the MC had a pseudo-incest relationship with his stepdaughter.
TONS of references, though. Most of the jokes will probably go over your head.
Too bad this manga is so short. I really wanted to see the characters and their relationships developed more.
They're making efforts to scan it (Silica Scans), but the guy over at Silica seems to be taking a long time, so he probably doesn't have that much free time.
Where did you read it?
MU says that there's only one chapter out.
Started reading/caught up with Denki-Gai no Honya-San last night.
Caught up with girl by the sea, pupa, horimiya, and mahou shoujo of the end
Physical manga. Luckily they published this manga in my country.
From where are you?
Tower of God. 10/10
Get out with your shitty deviantart corea shit. This thread is for manga. You know, actual comics.
Tower of god was 10/10 till the protagonist got sasuke'd.
The publishers in my country are awesome in term of localizing obscure manga. They held regular polls asking the readers to pick which manga they should localize next.
Too bad the actual releases are slow and the quality of the books is way below the original.
>find a list of obscure works by my favorite artist
>message the guy who made the list, thanking him and saying that I can now buy the stuff that I missed
>he says that I'm "sinful"
I don't understand.
Have you ever read anything by Jiro Taniguchi?
I could rebuy the italian edition of Hotel Harbour View, scan it and translate it. Maybe.
It's very good Noir/Hard Boiled.
Fuck I forgot to upload the pic.
What do you mean? What list are you talking about?
That would be nice. I've been looking forever for a good noir.
>Hotel Harbour View
Somebody scanned the English Viz version years ago. Same with Benkei in New York. Both are very good.
Benkei in New York if anyone is interested. It's an older Viz release, so it's read left-to-right.
I have read A Distant Neighborhood and The Summit of the Gods. Two masterpices for sure!
Oh. I tried to look at Manga Traders but it's down right now so I wasn't sure if was scanlated or not.
Thanks. Will definitely read it.
Do you guys know Vittorio Giardino?
>blazer over bare chest
You just know bitches go moist for this guy wherever he goes.
Been reading Nana to Kaoru, and never has a manga changed my life more. Seriously. Great art, love the expressions especially, the story manages to find new ways to not only keep me interested, but also tugging at my heartstrings AND turn me on at the same time. Love it. Made me get into this stuff in real life, no manga has managed anything close to that.
Going on a Fukumoto binge now. Just finished some of his short series, and started on Ten. It's pretty good even though I still don't know much about mahjong. The early chapters had some very Kurosawa-esque moments, so I hope there's more later.
Speaking of which, I bought some Fukumoto raws, including the first volume of Shin Kurosawa. The fact that nobody's even scanned any of it yet after all these months is insane. I know Hox is focusing on Joe right now, but maybe FKMTKrazy has some spare time to work on it.
>Does /a/ know who Jiro Taniguchi is?
Read Haruka no Machi E, A Zoo in Winter, Quest for the Missing Girl, Summit of the Gods, Hotel Harbor View, Benkei in New York and Aruku Hito.
Recently finished Captain Harlock. What the fuck was with that ending? It didn't even have an ending. It just ended.
Because the God is dead and the world is cold, cruel place?
What are some other good food manga like Yakitate Japan?
So why is it that manga get's discussed so much less here when it's often so much better than anime? Is it because reading is hard or something? Also: pic related made me appreciate my life a lot more.
Don't forget they're probably in Thailand or some other South-east asiatic place.
But I prefer your explanation.
Thanks for the suggestions.
I'm with you for Captain Harlock.
Well, I still have the old edition. Maybe it's time to sell my boypussy.
Is there any intelligent shonen. I like shonen but they are mostly pretty dull/childish. Is there any good shonen that has some kind of depth?
Try Yu Yu Hakusho. >>101802179
Bakuman. Aku no Hana. Surprisingly, Aria. Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad. That's all I can think of.
Try some Tezuka. Buddha, The Crater.
Every time I go to Barnes and Nobles and I pass the manga aisle I always see a 13-15 year old skimming through manga. I always assume that kid is looking for the ecchi scenes.
Jojo, HxH, One Piece (inb4 lol), Onepunch Man, Claymore, Death Note, Ares, Devilman
I think that it's because a majority of the people on /a/ only watch and discuss whatever's new and popular. It's a lot harder to do this for manga, because a lot less content is released per chapter compared to an episode of anime, and there aren't too many scan groups that translate things right when they come out. Also I can't help but wonder if there are people who don't read manga because they think that all good manga get anime adaptations. I've seen a lot of stupider opinions on this site before.
Also, Ressentiment was pretty good. It's too bad that it got canned, because it had a strong start. The author did a surprisingly good job of wrapping it up though, given the circumstances.
Speaking of good stuff that got the axe...
You should definitely read Mohiro Kitoh's Narutaru and Bokurano.
All this makes me sad.
Gambling Emperor Legend Zero is as intelligent as it is shonen. It's good stuff.
Releases really aren't very regular. And they can drop off at the drop of a hat.
I really don't need this kind of depression so early in the day.
Well, at least we got Prison School.
Nobody ever needs this kind of depression. Me and the Cancellation Blues...
Already read Bokurano and currently reading Narutaru. I really liked Bokurano, will Narutaru get as good (currently at chapter 3)?
Still haven't read it, sorry.
I dropped it months ago. It had its moments, but it really has little appeal for me. It almost feels like an insult, regardless of the intent.
Don't remind me... I wish that he would do even one more work like that. Historical series can be really good because they show how much the author cares about the subject matter. Especially in a relatively uncommon setting like the American South.
And it's delicious lewdness.
Not at all, here's a discussion from the last thread
Holy shit, you are literally *THIS* autistic. I bet you are either finnish or some other northern european subhuman. Go back to reddit with your 2deep4u edgy historishit mangas
What the fuck?
Uh, what? I'm reading both comments and clearly you're the autistic one.
What the fuck? There's nothing 2deep4u about any of these series, what's wrong with you?
Anything else like Yasashii Sekai no Tsukurikata?
best new series on Jump
I want to buy some Shigeru Mizuki manga...
>shitting on Kaoru Mori
>shitting on Vinland Saga
go fuck yourself with a baseball bat
Oh shit, I didn't even realize that I'd put everything historical together. Thanks for telling me. Also I'm not even Finnish but
>hating on nordic master race
I like The Walking Man and I pre-ordered the anniversary edition a few months ago
I love Biomega so much. Chapter 35 is a scifi version of the classic medieval tale about a wondering knight saving a land and its princess from an evil dragon. I love you Nihei.
Wut. Get your head checked by a good specialist.
Is Mangatraders down? Why?
Finfag here, add Ravages of Time and Rose of Versailles on that shelf, it'll be the best shelf ever.
You cannot deceive me, Pekka. I am fucking fed up with your shit taste and constant edgy circlejerk.
>MUH MEANINGFUL AND PHILOSOPHICAL WORKS
>MUH BASED PAGAN
Get fucked by muslims, kid.
Mt has had some issues for a while, they almost lost everything uploaded on the site.
Ah. You're filled with hate for some reason. Also, calling someone Pekka is totally racist, I don't even know any in real life, it's such a lame name no parent would give it to their child in this day and age. Please tell us what manga you like, then?
Do you understand post cooldown time
Learn mahjong idiot. You won't enjoy it otherwise, at least until you reach the final volumes.
This nigga knows what's up.
The Axe is strong in this one
>bookdepository have 10% off sale
>notice things I had on my wishlist are more expensive than last time I looked
You still haven't told us about your superior taste, I'm waiting.
I think it's time to stop replying.
Looks pretty cool.
it's funny as hell it's not going anywhere
It's actually doing surprisingly well. It's had it's low ranks, but it's only breached the bottom 5 once. It's gotten a few color pages, and it even beat Shokugeki no Souma for an issue. Too bad that it's still a prime candidate for the axe since those four new series are coming all at once.
I'm a little surprised to see that it received a tremendous amount of positive feedback apparently. But yes, I would be thinking that the axe is strong in this one normally.
I read all 24 chapters of Koe no Katachi because of all the hype here on /a/. That was the cutest shit ever and I want more. Ueno a shit.
Anyone else read this????
THIS SHIT IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, I just recently got out of exclusively watching anime and started getting into manga. I'm currently reading DMC and Rosario + Vampire, but I'm tempted to get the whole set for Bakuman since the first four volumes were so good. It's a good thing I didn't watch too much of the anime and spoil the manga for myself. The artwork is just so good.
One question mark and one exclamation mark are all that is necessary.
Yes. But, with the new set of witches, it's less interesting to be honest.
Care to be more specific?
Don't get over excited, it gets less detailed.
It's alright. And you're a fag.
What is /a/'s opinion on Junji Ito, /x/ seems to love him?
I loved Uzumaki and his version of Frankenstein.
Everyone loves Ito, even /v/ has threads.
Why'd you post a picture by Masaaki Nakayama as you asked that though
I like his stories.
Wasn't sure of the source, thought it was something from Ito.
Why is Ryoichi Ikegami so based?
I know that. Let's hope for the best.
What are some good beginner horror manga besides Junji Ito?
Fuan no Tane
I Am A Hero
>captcha: figures paraste
What do you mean by beginner?
Typical authors: Hideshi Hino, Kazuo Umezu, Shintaro Kago and Suehiro Maruo. Some by Usamaru Furuya maybe.
GeGeGe no Kitaro
The Laughing Vampire
Maybe he wants a manga that isn't going to rape his mind in the first chapter?
What do you guys get on Hox's quiz?
I only get 10/140
I'd post a link but 4chan won't let me.
Is it on his site?
Is this Shosen in akiba?
I hated that place. It made me feel totally inferior, like I didn't know anything about anything. There were millions of books and I could only pick out a few that I knew.
Yeah, in the links on the right

Some Thoughts About Good Manga
Based on picture what should I read/buy next? If anyone is wondering; Bottem right blue/green-ish volumes are dutch Dragonball volumse (85 though I have some double) from Glenat.
I'm trying to remember this manga I read about this guy that would go around have sex with a lot of girls but in one arc a teenage fell in love with him but he didn't really love her.
47. Not too bad.
I get 26
Fuck, I did it wrong, I gave myself one point even if I knew the author's name.
Isn't manga, like almost all books now, not made of alkaline paper? They will probably disintegrate over the years, no matter what you do.
Besides, handling them will cause damage. You either have spares or enclose them in perspex. Any alternative is stupid.
Why is Blame Vol.6 $300?
Th-th-that's pretty cool anon I wouldn't mind seeing that
This is some anon's collection not mine, but I like it.
I don't know what it is with books, but the prospect of owning so many and just being able to take out anyone I want, the texture, even the smell...god damn.
You have no idea how insulted I was when my parents asked if I wanted an e-reader.
He actually wanted to end Yu Yu Hakusho in a way that everyone was acting for a show, but didn't get the approve from the editors, he did publish a doujin about it though.
I really hope this is like rotational velocidency.
Otherwise I'd just kill myself.
I have the same printer model.
Honestly that would have been really shitty. It had a pretty good ending considering how it jumped the shark pretty hard.
It's all WonFes in the buyfag thread. Bought pic related.
Currently reading Vagabond since I bought all the volume in one go.
I'm really enjoying so far it has been such a great ride and I'm only at the middle of it.
Not bad, I wish I had enough space to show my manga like that maybe one day.
what's that white thing labelled "Full metal alchemist"?
si ce n'est pas un problème
I don't know, Togashi could have made that a great ending.
Eh, I'm >>101800059 >>101800126
I have manga inside drawers.
I was surprised to see I still had this on my follows, and then mildly amused at how casually the bath scene was played, with no punches, kicks nor the kind whatsoever.
Tora Kiss or something like that.
It's a collector box for Full Metal alchemist Brotherhood made by Dybex a french company.
Yeah but I prefer a huge library like >>101815760
It's just my personal preference.
Well I mucked up my post because of the captcha, and it became a new thread, but OP, keep up these threads, because my general manga threads end in 5 posts.
Been reading High Score Girl and have read up to volume 4 so far. Like the story, love triangle, and small but likable cast. The old video game appearances also triggers some nostalgia for me as a kid growing up with the vidya, so I might be a little biased in that regard.
A friend says he's turned off by the art style, but I actually find it charming and fitting.
>Look, she doesn't turn me on at all, just look at my dick and you'll understand.
>Imouto can't resist seeing the dick
>Alkaline paper has a life expectancy of over 1,000 years for the best paper and 500 years for average grades
What is this nigger >>101815263 saying then? I don't get it.
I was just saying that I've more chaos than you, of course I'd prefer proper furniture.
Fucking excellent. Did you see anything from Celebi's latest project yet?
And what's the one with the blurred title, 3rd from the right, bottom row, right below 麻宮さんの妹?
>And what's the one with the blurred title
He's confusing alkaline paper with acidic paper, which is that way because they use acid to pulp the wood grain. He probably doesn't know what Alkaline means.
And what are you saying? That the paper used for manga is acid-free?
What are your favorite romance manga?
Just tried it out, I was able to name 26 mangaka and with the titles got up to 45...much weaker at my manga game than I thought.
Reading Freesia right now, curious where it's headed. Really interesting MC.
I wish I could get my friend who's a comic book illustrator to read manga. But he dismisses it all. When I ask him for comic book recs, he never supplies.
Solanin, were all enjoyable. I should probably read more romance manga though.
Coponicus no Kokyuu
Lonely Wolf, Lonely Sheep
Angel Mimicry by Hagio Moto
Watashi-tachi no Shiawase na Jikan
Just finished Hox's manga quiz.
Got 59/280. Pretty good, I'm happy.
Friendly reminder that you should read this manga if you like school comedy ala School Rumble.
Thanks a lot for posting this. It's been on my backlog for a while now and that gave me the initiative to read.
Just got done the first chapter and I like the way it made me feel.
Music of Marie. Apollo no Uta.
Koharu no Hibi
Shitty pic but I got these recently. Hoping to pick up the rest of Ooku and Thermae Romae soon.
Also started reading Tsumi to Batsu and Prison School.
this display is not mine, but it's what I have always strived for. Sir, I commend you.
I'll be liquidating my collection at the
Great Lakes ComicCon 2/28-3/1.
stop by, co/, a/, and all the rest.
Do you have any pictures of what you're getting rid of?
Is Solanin an appropriate gift to an entry-level reader? I don't want to cast anyone into depression.
Any other good entry-level manga that are short (1-2 volumes) for gifting?
Is the person you're giving to a guy or girl? Dark Horse has a couple good CLAMP omnibuses and they're a pretty good intro group. I think Solanin would be okay too, there's also a couple great Hagio Moto books but I don't know how a guy would feel about those.
A girl. She's only read a bit of Vampire Knight years ago. I'll look into Hagio Moto and maybe CLAMP, though I don't care much for CLAMP's work myself. Thanks for the reply.
I decided to order Solanin anyhow, if I find something else before then I'll just keep it myself.
Heart of Thomas has an awesome English release but I don't know if that would fly over their head, it's also kinda homo.
Why is Yu Yu Hakusho so highly praised? It's like an inferior version of Hunter x Hunter with really odd pacing (especially at the end).
The italian edition of Hotel Harbour View, which is called Tokyo Killers, has a story which is not in the Viz edition I just checked.
Doesn't seem to be scanned either.
It was just me posting pics. Wouldn't say it's highly praised by everyone, reasonably.
By me for sure.
Nostalgia and trend setting
It's mostly nostalgia. The begining is crap, the first few serious battle arcs are mediocre, the DT arc is great, the CB arc is good but suffers a lot because Togashi was experimenting too much and at the end it jumped the shark with the demon world. At least the last arc didn't go full retarded in the end and it had a nice conclusion.
I see all those collections and as impressive as they are I'd rather take a few years to learn Japanese and buy that in original language, feels like a waste to spend so much of stuff that is not in original format.
That's the reason I haven't bought a lot. I still have around 20-30 books, but I haven't bought for years now.
Well Yu Yu Hakusho aired when I was young and I didn't like it and watched only some episodes so it's not nostalgia for me.
I've almost finished it now, have a volume to read, and I must say that I love how Togashi decided to experiment with the art and with the story.
It's in a completly different league than most other shonen.
I have had a lot laughs with it.
It can cause nostalgia even if you didn't watch it when you were young. It may be similar to other things you liked.
But well, I'm not saying it's 100% nostalgia, it's not like it's bad
Getting old sucks
>Pass anime expiration date
>Start to be too old to relate to kids these days
>Tastes in entertainment growing too far from kids these days
>Can't relate to shitty tastes and sensibilities of younger fans
>Scanlators don't translate mange targeting older men
>Realize there is no mange out there for me anymore
Does anyone have recommendations for manga (actively being scanlated or sold) that an older person (in their 30s) might enjoy? Too many manga these days filled with pointless tits&ass and fan-service for me to really get excited.
Nothing I've read is worthy of being bought, I disagree with pirating games and realize I'm being hypocritical. But I don't give a fuck
How about learning Japanese?
>not recommending akame ga kill
Fukumoto stuff and Seinen in general really should do.
All of this, it's all scanlated.
>It can cause nostalgia even if you didn't watch it when you were young
I feel generous.
Read the fucking thread, at least.
It has its moments but it's mostly for angry teenagers.
Just read the wiki for it, 250+ chapters of disappointment, I already got that from pun pun. No thank you
Are you seriously gonna throw the edgy card on this series. Just because it's dark and gory does not make it edgy
No, but being edgy does make it edgy.
I've seen plenty of dark gory manga that isn't garbage like AkG.
Kimi Machi is overhated. It's one of my favorite manga, and it unfortunately is victim of the hivemind mentality.
You want me to dump all the ridiculous stuff present in the manga?
I'll gladly do it.
You can't deny it's edgy as fuck.
this is the exact spot where I dropped the manga
I can understand liking it despite all the hate, but one of your favorite? Come on man.
I meant the anime
But that it's fucking great.
That special chapter was an extenuating circumstance, the rest hasn't been that terrible. Nearly on par with berserk if anything and nobody calls that edgy
I liked it. It focused on the romance unlike so many other "romances" I've read, time actually passed, and I liked the characters. It hit all my weak points and it was a rollercoaster of feelings.
Can anyone recommend a manga with a good sense of exploration and adventure?
I'm halfway through Color of Rage. For a Kazuo Koike manga about a black guy, it's not pulpy at all.
And this is getting a TV anime? How's that gonna work
Hunter x Hunter
7 seeds, it's a post apocalyptic manga where 5 groups of 8 wake up in the future after a meteor crashed and blocked out the sun for several decades. The story is mostly about each of the groups exploring the new land, running into each other and trying to survive. The point where it stands out the most is the characters themselves, each and everyone of them has some sort of background and a couple character flaws. It's one of the few manga series I've honestly been willing to buy, but it's not out in america
Hahaha, not at all.
Berserk doesn't try too hard to be serious ending to be ridiculous as Akame ga Kill.
Look at this page, it makes me burst into laughter.
Censoring, skipping the torture and gore scenes, and late slot. I wouldn't be surprised if they skipped big chunks or changed them.
I'll check them out. Thanks
Come on, Berserk is edgy too, but on a lower scale.
Whatever, to each his own opinion, I find the over the top gore and edginess to be on a down slope where they're at currently, pardoning the latest chapter. The action itself and the characters are interesting enough to keep me reading. You're literally a small majority that doesn't like this series.
But Berserk is not pitifully ridiculous.
Calling it edgy doesn't mean disliking it. I wasn't that anon, but it's very edgy.
Your post was fine until the last sentence, now you just sound like a retard who doesn't know anything.
That anon WAS calling it edgy and WAS disliking it
Where did I say that I don't like it?
I actually stated that it has its moments.
Also, I never used the word edgy.
No, prove it.
Anyway daily reminder.
Go back the start of that argument, "It has it's moments" implies he enjoys it somewhat.
I didn't even like her. And her death had the least impact of all the deaths so far.
>denying the amount of people who dislike AgK isn't minimal
That series is one of the top posted threads on /a/ when it gets a new chapter.
It's not widely known. SnK threads were very peaceful before the anime, and there was barely any vocal hate, because most mangafags aren't vocal idiots. Just wait for the anime.
>recommending everything but akame ga kiru
If you like it then why wouldn't you recommend it? That statement gives off the air that you read it just to read it, to suffer through to series to see if it gets better, like fairy tail fans. Ergo that you don't like it
Most people on /a/ don't even read manga, do you realize that? You don't see threads like "Let's hate on manga because I don't like reading"
So you won't see "AkG sucks who's with me" but of course you'll see threads about praising it and discussing new chapters.
I don't think you know how 4chan works.
You know what else had some of the top posted threads on /a/ when new chapters came out? SnK just before the anime
BS, off of 4chan it's one of the top most viewed mangas on any mangareader site. inb4 autists
It's not really. Big shonen manga and shoujo are there, AgK isn't even in the visible rankings.
I will never walk in to a huge manga store full of cool shit, look for any work ever made and find it, and pay less than 14 bucks for it.
Because I recommend what I think it's good, not what I like.
It's funny that you cited Fairy Tail because it's one of the rare manga I stopped buying because of how much bad it was.
I thought she was Fujiyoshi? Fujiyoshi Harumi.
Really? How many series is Kouji going to do at one time?
Well he just ended one and then started one, so there's no change there.
Where do you normally go? Book-Off can be reasonably priced.
Yeah, I just now realized that the last chapter of Iru Machi is out. I'm reading it now. Rushed ass ending
I am going to whine in every single manga thread that Kinnikuman Nisei is barely translated until I get someone interested in translating it. I know its never gonna happen but it helps to lie to myself so I don't have to cry myself to sleep every night...
Try reading some gekiga, like Onward Toward Our Noble Deaths by Shigeru Mizuki
Never say never, what if this happened tomorrow
>v.5 c.37 by Crossbone-Pirates (2203d ago)
Thats why. Its also made worse by the anime not being subbed.
I honestly feel sorry for you. Might as well have learned moon in those 6 years.
I've seen some shit happen.
Look at that time gap
Is the manga any better than that piece of shit movie?
Unfortunately I am learning a different language for my third and don't have the time to learn moon
Yeah but Kinnikuman Nisei has a total of 61 volumes so fucking no one is going to pick it up EVER. My only hope at all for the series is that there is a sub group doing all the subs for the classic Kinnikuman anime and maybe when they finish that they will do Nisei and I can at least watch the anime.
Can someone tell me the name of that one trap manga where the artist just drew a girl and called it a guy? I know I'm being really ambiguous.
Also I really liked Oyasumi Pun Pun, but not a lot of people don't.
Who doesn't like Punpun?
>a manga isn't good, but I like it
So, acknowledge that a series is not good, yet you continue to like it? That's completely contradictory, that's like knowing a particular food tastes terrible, yet continuing to eat it, just because.
No, it's not.
>8 years for 20 chapters
Good and bad isn't so fucking black and white, he likes some parts and not others, he reads hoping for more of the good. How much of a douche can you be
Entertainment isn't like food. Some things are so bad they're good or only good in certain aspects.
Besides what the others who replied to you have said, I must say liking something and thinking it's bad are not entirely contradictory.
- Lolicon Phoenix: I love Hentai Kamen, and it was basically an even more stupid Hentai Kamen, so I loved it
- Kamiyadori: only read it for the delicious little brown girl. It's typical Kei Sanbe grimdark nonsensical plot.
- Renai Shimasen ka?: short and cute romance manga. I don't usualy like stories with otaku characters, but it didn't lose itself with nerd jokes and the backstory was nice (with the fake confession).
- Gamble Fish: stupid and hilarious. There's an arc where the hero battles a rich American girl in a capture-the-flag survival game. His team is made-up of a magician girl (the only thing she actually does is card tricks and getting naked), a yankee who "studied" in America to become the better delinquant (he's got FUCK written on his belt), a teenage prostitute (and a genius at maths, obviously), an ojousama, a fat middle-aged pool hustler, and the useless bubbly comic-relief girl. The other team is made-up of US Green Berets with live ammo. They eventualy all end-up fighting a tengu (?). And of course the whole thing is orchestrated by the big bad who looks like Nosferatu wearing tight leather and using a pimp cane.
- Kyuusen no Shima: nice asses. Don't really care about the plot, and I don't think the author did either.
- Jisatsutou: so good. I wish they had killed Sawada (and Kai) when they had the occasion. This is not going to end well.
You can like eating fast food despite knowing it's absolute crap and it's killing you.
Scan it for justice.
There's a whole load already translated. Certain lots of interesting stuff from the 70s and 80s, that you can buy physically (or rather have to buy physically). You need stuff like Tezuka, Tatsumi, Tsuge, Susumu Katsumata. Nishioka Kyoudai, Usamaru Furuya, Toyoda Tetsuya, Igarashi Daisuke, Taiyou Matsumoto.
Catching up on Buyuden. It ended recently, so only 12 more chapters to go.
I need to finish this. Too bad about the cancellation, I think everyone hoped the manga would follow the main character to his thirties.
I actually really enjoyed reading it. It really is a shame. I suppose I should eventually get to reading Major.
