How can Miyata be so cool?
I gave that bitch a counter
Bitches loves counters
By nearly killing a loving father who just wants to save his sick daughter?
Sure is cool, if you're Ippo and are gay for Miyata.
This guy is a dick.
He's just one of those cool/silent types.
It's not supposed to kill, just to stop them dead in their tracks. Notice how the blow forced him towards the ground instead of trying to blow him backwards, snapping his neck.
HAHA TIME FOR TAKAMURA
His big fight won't happen until season 4
How the fuck was Miyata supposed to know the guy was a father? He had zero info on him, that's what he was talking about with his father before the fight. He didn't even know he used to do muay thai which explained his toughness.
That was such a shitty fight.
I gave zero fucks about the other guy because Morikawa was trying too hard to make people care and give him a reason to fight. It would have been better if the guy was just a plain old greedy bastard that was only in boxing for the money.
It wasn't a fight until the last few moments, the guy was paid to be a sandbag. Whether he wins or loses at least his daughter has recovered.
So? You don't seem to get that this wasn't supposed to be a fight. Sakaguchi paid the guy simply so he could watch Miyata and figure out his weakness, then find the perfect guy for the job to take him out.
How does that stop it from being shitty?
Because again, you fail to understand that this wasn't mean to be a fight, so whether it was shitty or not doesn't matter. Time for Takamura.
Why is the coach so GODLIKE?
>Because again, you fail to understand that this wasn't mean to be a fight, so whether it was shitty or not doesn't matter.
I do understand. That doesn't make it any less shitty. Stop making excuses for Morikawa.
What makes a good fight? What makes a shitty fight?
For me the fight is good if my heart is swayed, but I think everyone have their own answers.
Let's just enjoy this without fighting. Unless it's a good fight we're having.
I'm currently at volume 79.
Why the hell did the manga stop being about Ippo ?
Because Miyata and Miyata-lite (Itagaki).
>Stop making excuses for Morikawa.
I don't see the guy making excuses for Morikawa. The point of the Dachboy fight was never about if he could put up a good fight against Ichiro, but if he would man up and not just be a fucking punching bag.
The subplot with his daughter was there to give you a reason for this guy going all the way to Japan and piss away a grand opportunity for OPBF champion match, simply for a quick payday.
>It would have been better if the guy was just a plain old greedy bastard that was only in boxing for the money.
... that's exactly why he was fighting and throwing his pride away.
Easily the shittiest fight in Hajime no Ippo, bar none.
At least the Wally fight, at it's worst, had the narrative of hard work vs natural talent. This shitfest was literally Miyata doing a bunch of shit, shrugging off a shitload of damage, broken bones and fucked up limbs and pulling a new move out of his ass to win, when him losing and fucking off to a higher weightclass would have been better for everyone at featherweight, Ippo included.
>when him losing and fucking off to a higher weightclass would have been better for everyone at featherweight, Ippo included.
yep. especially when you consider the fact that not only miyata didn't do anything but spin his wheels after winning, it completely killed makunouchi's momentum, on the oriental-pacific level, since technically he was STILL the first seed, but couldn't challenge for the title after being stood up by miyata.
the worst thing about the rbj match would be the complete waste of a good character in randy boy junior. when push came to shove, it turned it they guy didn't even give a shit about the sorted past between their fathers and just wanted to avenge the death of his own father by going on to challenge ricardo martinez.
lastly, fuck morikawa for not giving us ippo vs rbj, even as a spar.
I forgot how many volumes I have read. Maybe 30
Where are we now? Did he get to rematch Ippo yet?
>I forgot how many volumes I have read.
from where? the beginning? if so, you're no where near the volumes rising is currently covering, since its at 59-60. ippo vs miyata won't be dealt with until another 20 volumes.
Woli > RBJ > MALCOLM GEDOH
This is the truest statement in the entire thread, maybe in all of /a/.
As much as I loved the ippo manga, the fights started to fucking suck. The SoL components were as based as ever though.
Well the manga seems to have gotten better again ever since that awful pacific bullshit arc has ended
>Volg vs Mike
>Itagaki getting raped by Ippo2.0
>Ippo vs Alf
All pretty good
Yea I stopped reading as soon as the alf figth started. I'd rather just marathon through it once it is done. Im guessing it is no where near finished yet?
Volg vs Mike is a god tier fight, holy fuck have I reread it many times.
It's my favorite fight in the manga this far.
It's dragging out extremely, like, EXTREMELY but at the same time it's not that bad
I mean, Ippo is actually being competent instead of the typical "get raped and do comeback" routine
Waiting until it's finished is definitely the best idea, some of the chapters are just ridiculous in the lack of anything happening.
