I know I'm asking for handholding out the ass, but what do you usually use for viewing movies/shows/animu and why?
>>
Notepad, because it's flexible, has the best performance, and doesn't hold your hand.
>>

t-thanks
>>
MPC-HC et al is the only correct answer. If you don't know how to set it up, CCCP or KCP will provide all the handholding you need.

mpv is objectively best

I don't even know what I'm looking at.
Is this it?
I guess I'll look around on their website forums on how to use this thing.
>>
>>101782981
Just go to the website and install.

Unless you're not using windows.
>>

Daum Potplayer
Korean video player that needs no codecs installed.
>>
>>101782981
How fucking retarded can you be?

Either get a codec pack with it set up or just you know, read the fucking settings
>>
>>101783104
It's good, but it's proprietary.
Seconding >>101782711's recommendation for MPC-HC.
Try SVP while you're at it too.

By the way please try searching the /a/ or /g/ archives before making a new thread. Remember that every new thread made is an old thread deleted.

both scaled to 75%

not sure if anti-placebo, but they appear to be the same.
I'll give it a run through of a few episodes to see if that blurry shit and random blocks fuck off.

K-lite, in years i trowed every kind of file at it and it always worked perfectly.

Only time I ever experienced a difference was with R.O.D the TV, where MPC would cause spots of sudden lime green where VLC wouldn't.

VLC is not using Lanczos for scaling by default. Beyond that its colors filters thats a little different, but its minor. Filter support for 10p, such as sharpen and contrast adjust was also gotten later than other codec packs.
But its minor.

Still using lachs0r's defunct mplayer2 and SMPlayer2 builds, because they let me watch 720p on my toaster and I've been feeling too lazy to try anything else ever since they died.
Also thank you Deadfish for saving me from Daiz.

well, after watching bits and pieces from a few shows and playing around with all the options and shit, I love it.
It's going to take getting used to seeing that horrid icon instead of the ol' orange parking cone.

If there's anything I can complain about, it's this.
While watching shit, it goes through a green bar as if it were downloading something, which is annoying as shit.
Since it's something so minor, I haven't been able to find a way with my Googlefu to turn it off.

Other than that, thanks a ton guys.

Add xySubFilter if you want HD sub rendering even when upscaling
