Lupin 2012 was so good, man. Easily the best anime of the decade so far.
Nah. But it wasn't nearly as bad as people say it was.
I enjoyed it for what it was.
too much Fujiko
not enough Lupin
I forgot this anime even existed.
I just kind of stopped watching around episode 5, did it end up being good?
It's actually very acclaimed though.
man 2012 was a year of disappointments
Fujiko isn't a likable character, the whole owl storyline sucked dicks. The only enjoyable episode was the one where it was mostly about Lupin and Jigen.
It's by far my least favorite Lupin related thing I've seen.
>Fujiko centered series
>Expected more lupin
The owl brainwashing crap was a stupid twist and ruins Fujino's character.
>Oh no I'm going to kill that mute tattoo girl because she reminds me of my own plight
>lol wait, it's fake not real memories, it's fine.
I'm ok with a series that spends more focus on characters other than Lupin but at least do it properly. I really wanted to like this series more, it's got nice visuals which reminds me a mix of noir fiction and those french tragedy drama but the storyline/twist at the end was just stupid.
>part of the Lupin franchise
>most recent series in the franchise after years
>not expecting more Lupin
I will never forgive Mari Okada.
>Fujiko gets her own show
>Best episodes are about Lupin and the old gang
I actually didn't mind the artstyle used.
>Liking Green suit over red suit
Had they not gone with the coup out ending and stuck with the lunacy that was her presented past, maybe it could have been in the running for one of the best of the year. However, that ending really ruins everything. If you are going to alienate the old crowd, don't back down at the last minute, because you've already lost them and are now also pissing off the new crowd. When taking a long-established franchise and taking it down different paths, one has to go balls-to-the-walls with it and stay committed to their vision for it to have a chance at working out.
Still really pretty with some really interesting visuals. The best episode was Lupin investigation episode. Man, those were some great horror-esque trip-out scenes.
It's not the art style that people minded.
Now that I look closer, I guess you're right.
Back when I watched the original series I was like "damn, this is kinda cool stuff, but not as cool as I expected it to be, I guess this thing is just not that well suited for me". But after watching the 2012 adaptation, I started to appreciate more the orignal show and the movie, rewatching them last year was an amazing experience, I guess I like this show because of that.
Wow, shit taste detected.
I really wish this were directed by Ikuhara.
