>>
not best animu movie, but by far one of the greatests
>>
Mononoke had action. Awesome action.

And love. You just cant beat love.

Did I mention the giant wolves?
>>
No.

It's pretty good though, even for that faggot Miyazaki.

Akira is better, anyhow, if we're going to go into "overrated animu movies".
>>
Miyazaki is a good animator but his character designs and stories are usually subpar. Thus, I'm going to be the first to say n. If I want to watch a Disney movie, I'll watch a Disney movie, but if I want to watch an anime I'm going to watch something much more mature... Maybe something by Satoshi Kon.
>>
I like Nausicaa since it's basically what introduced me to anime but Mononke is a barely distinguishable second.

I don't understand you. If you can see Disney movies as Disney movies, why can't you see Ghibli movies as Ghibli movies? I don't exactly compare the Lion King to the Simpsons, Futurama, Watership Down, or Plague Dogs when I see it.
>>

Ghibli movies are the Japanese equivalent to a Disney movie, so much so that Disney puts them in Western theaters. If you think otherwise you're just deluding yourself. That being said, I did enjoy Plague Dogs... So, I guess there's hope. He'd better stop with the monkey faces though. I'm getting really tired of that.

I am fully aware that Ghibli films have a lot in common with Disney. However, they are both heavily rooted in two very different cultures, so there are bound to be quite a few fundamental differences (and there are). What I was getting at is that Miyazaki films should be judged by different standards than other anime since we can't really compare Laputa or Totoro to, say, Monster and Legend of the Galactic Heroes.

While I can what looks to be a preference towards more mature seinen titles, I don't see why Ghibli should be reprimanded for targeting a more general audience. Of course, I suppose everyone has their own views on things.

I do agree with the character designs, though. It's like every single one of Miyazaki's heroines is a reincarnation of Nausicaa. Gets annoying after a while.

Disney is a multimedia empire, Ghibli is just an animation studio. A studio with artistic freedom at that.

Fixed.

Hahaha, you're right! Now I feel bad for forgetting about Castle of Cagliostro, even if it was just for a moment.
>>
As far as Ghibli goes, the only shot they have at the "best ever" is the Totoro/Fireflies combo. Them I would seriously consider. This? Just the last truely good thing they produced.
