when did you grow out of anime?
When I switched to amazingly high quality American animation
You don't. Cartoons and video games though? Maybe after the age of 12.
>You don't. Cartoons and video games though
Which one's the mouth?
>tfw Star Wars will only get shitty ugly ass cartoons
>there will never be a Star Wars cartoon like Zeta or Ghost in the Shell
cartoons and anime are completely different things.
anime is for more mature audiences, also has superior and more realistic animation
cartoons are usually for young kids and have terrible, unrealistic animation
Why does little Anakin have a mustache?
the bottom one, the upper one is a moustache
0/10 /co/ try better next time.
gr8 b8 m8. I r8 it an 8.
>tfw Star Wars will only get shitty ugly ass cartoons
Nigga, you best be talking only about the shitty 3D series
But the kid's like 10. I think it's supposed to be the philtrum, but the mouth is a simple curve with no implication of depth.
/co/ pls, Genndy can't draw for shit
You know that what he said isn't actually that far off being pretty true, and that the only reason you're both pulling the 'b8' card is the
>anime is for more mature audiences
Line, which isn't entirely wrong, however admittedly it is not as true nowadays.
Certainly it is true for western audiences, but of course that is because western anime counterpart would be cartoons which is what the younger people watch.
Look at >>101740468 and try to justify having an art style as ugly as that for one of the biggest franchises ever.
Anime does that shit all the time too. If they're going to copy and paste the same four models/poses, the least they can fucking do is not make them physically detailless blobs.
I won't deny it's kind of ugly, but it was only one scene. And Qui-gon doesn't look too bad, honestly.
>want to talk about anime influenced cartoons on /a/
>want to talk about cartoon influenced anime on /a/
Why can't there just be a board for people that like animation and not the whole "waifu" and "loligagging" culture?
>posting an image
>the clones that are closer have less detail than the ones farther away
Fuck off to /co/mblr.
Because although half these people belong on /jp/, the people already there are just plain fucked up.
Go shit on shit boards shitter.
Whether it be anime or cartoons, something that drives me mad to no end is when someone will screencap a scene to point out how bad it looks when it's the kind of detail you'd never notice when the animation is moving. That's the whole point of animation "cheating", you use the fact that we cannot freeze frame things in our mind to create the illusion of movement. Personally I always applaud animation studios that use the minimalist model technique efficiently to portray multiple things on screen at the same time.
/co/ would love this thread, actually, because they're a hugbox that welcomes any dribbling retard with open arms.
>want to post cartoons on an anime board
I see no problem with this.
I'm a 12 years old girl, I have a lot of time in front of me.
I'd totally read a Hellsing comic done in that Hellboy-esque style.
>Maul in Genndy Clone Wars style
That actually looks good besides the face
Easy there mate, I'm just saying not everyone thinks that buying merchandise of a character constitutes a relationship. Not to mention it detracts somewhat from actually discussing anime since it's usually just a thread full of "isn't _____ great?!" without any actual debate on things like plot, styles, music, or settings. It's blatant character worship more suited to the likes of Tumblr or deviantArt than 4chan.
But that's just one probably insecure anon's opinion, so don't let whatever nonsense I say bug you.
>buttblasted /a/utistic /a/bortions
>/a/ and /co/ not being the best of friends
Things have changed
Who are you quoting?
>plain old shitposters from /co/
I didn't say I wanted to post cartoons, just talk about stuff like how X studio made a reference to X series. Many of my favourite series are collaborations between western and eastern animation styles. Especially in the 90's when almost anything amblin put out (tiny Toons, Batman, Animaniacs) was animated in Japan at some point.
I thought /a/ was closer to /k/?
you will never get a decent discussion about animation on 4chan because waifufags will ruin everything
/co/ has always been /a/'s creepy little brother
Like they do the same things we do, like waifu shit, but their waifus are ugly ass shit like this or furry-bait like ponies and dogs
Pic related, it's /co/'s current sex symbol
>I don't say that I want to talk about cartoons on /a/, but I want to talk about cartoons on /a/
I'm sorry, I can understand if you disagree with my views but I hardly think that appropriate punctuation and trying to legitimately create constructive discussion constitutes as a "shitpost"
Although if that's your view I think we might already have witnessed the prowess of your ability to actually engage in debate like a sentient human being.
Anyways, changing gears with this fun factoid: Spider-Man's japan series was the first Super Sentai hero to use a giant robot.
Maybe since Madoka or Upotte.
Or when there's a sword thread.
>alien with giantic eyes, no nose, wide face and enough space between the eyes to fit 100 black dicks
>not ugly ass shit
Well you might wanna take a seat because what I'm about to say will blow your mind and cause anal devastation board-wide.
Anime are cartoons
Actually I think husbandos are more common on /co/
FUCK YOU MOTHERFUCKER
Calm down mate, he is trying to use that to force /co/shit down to your throat.
The only major difference I note between anime and western cartoons is that western cartoons tend to exhibit much more world-wide cultural influences while Anime seems to keep to it's own Japanese culture more often than not.
Probably why the go to reference when you want to mock anime in a cartoon is a schoolgirl being violated by tentacles. Even today the majority of animation from Japan demonstrates the laid-back attitudes of Japanese sexual standards and their obsession with the high-school age protagonist.
Do you just dislike video games because of /v/? Be honest.
>western cartoons tend to exhibit much more world-wide cultural influences
>all western animation does is ape the shit out of anime
Sup avatard would you kindly fuck off to >>>/co/
Japanese sexual standards are completely fucked up. Something like cheap sexualization and weird fetishes are perfectly fine, but two people falling in love and kissing is too for them.
a style of Japanese film and television animation, typically aimed at adults as well as children. Compare with manga.
1980s: Japanese, shortened from animēshon, based on English animation.
maybe the modern ones because they want to appeal to waifufags and narutoshiteaters
>you will never get a decent discussion about animation
That's because barely anyone knows shit about animation, myself included. Just look at the QUALITY threads, most people can't tell bad animation and animation techniques apart.
FUCK YOU YOU SON OF A FUCKER
It's not fucked up. It's the result of Americanized attitudes about sexuality being the norm for most of the mainstream society, but almost any Asian culture has a long history of kinky sexy stuff. India's worse than Japan when you consider they produced the Kama Sutra.
What? Except kisses and people in love are common in American entertainment. Now compare it to anime. You'll find more fucked up fetishized fantasies than two adults falling in love.
The hell are you talking about? I dare you to find anything from Archer that's appealing to waifufags and narutoshit.
I think I've read that one.
Yes but the average Japanese citizen is either impartial or disapproving of them. Behind closed doors Japan's attitude on sexuality is generally "whatever", but out in public it's incredibly conservative. Hell, America is the country that invented BD/SM's most essential element: leather costumes.
That list is missing purposeful smear animation as not counting
>if one of them isn't pandering to narutufags and waifufags, that means all of them aren't!!!!!
You serious? Cartoons are made for children. Save for a few exceptions like family guy, which is for 14 year olds who still think fart jokes are funny. Anime generally is more diverse and there's a lot to see, it's less restrictive too since nips don't treat it as a children's medium and aren't afraid of diving into controversial territories.
Really helping that low birth rate, Japan.
>Why can't there just be a board for people that like animation and not the whole "waifu" and "loligagging" culture?
Because someone already made ANN, Kotaku, and Japanator.
>cartoons are made for children
Anon, you're being silly.
Although it's 90's edgyness is a bit stale by modern terms I think it still holds up as a mature animation.
>discussing shit on ANN
Fuck off liberal feminist piece of shit.
>Cartoons are made for children
Well, like anime.
>Anime generally is more diverse
Sure. It's either about teenagers in high school, teenagers with super powers or teenagers with big robots.
>since nips don't treat it as a children's medium
Yes, they treat it as a medium for manchildren/teenagers.
ANN has forums where normalfag scum like yourself can converse with fuckwits like Zac about how dead anime is because you saw some tits.
Typical of a legit LGBT board.
I don't mind that art style. Mainly due to this guy though.
Oh please, we have animation threads frequently. You just browse one hour a day and you miss them.
Personally, my thing against ANN is the critics.
I can't stomach being on the same site as them.
/a/ hangs with /k/ whenever a show with military stuff comes around.
/pol/ watches over and protects /a/ from the shadows, keeping us safe from the scourge of tumblr/reddit cancer from LGBTs and feminists, only because we post cute nazis sometimes.
I watch anime for the social aspect.
If /a/ didn't exist I wouldn't watch anime, it's like being part of something, especially if you have no friends in real life. You get a sense of belonging from sharing the laughs or the tears or the rage with other people on 4chan
90% of the enjoyment derived from anime comes from discussing it with other people, by itself it's kind of shitty.
So until I get friends I'll keep watching anime.
>those flying clones
Reminds me of MOU IKKAI
ANN critics and the community that circlejerks around them pretty much invented the "everything you don't like about anime is new and totally killing anime" mentality that makes most anime fans outside of /a/ ignorant, self-entitled, whiny manchildren.
>If /a/ didn't exist I wouldn't watch anime, it's like being part of something
This is the worst kind of tryhard faggotry. Don't try this at home, kids.
>/a/ - Anime & Manga
>1. All images and resulting discussion should pertain to anime or manga
>/a/ hangs with /k/ whenever a show with military stuff comes around.
Or Spice and Wolf.
About a few years ago? Last Anime i seriously watched was Kaiji
Still reading Manga tough
