DEATH NOTE NEW PROJECT start in March
>Light is still alive
Edgy anime that pandered to heavy metal black nailed people.
Why would anyone want to revive it?
Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Desu Desu Noto!
Why would anyone want to revive one of the most popular and well received anime/manga of all time? I haven't a clue.
>Time for SAKUJO SAKUJO SAKUJO and swimming lessons
Maybe this time around they'll fix that shit ending and cut it off when L kicks the bucket.
>Edgy anime that pandered to heavy metal black nailed people.
oh fuck off
How cute, Madhouse are trying to revive themselves.
Light is a shinigami
>Why would anyone want to revive it?
How about a reboot where Light agonizes over the decision to kill L and gives up all his plans because he can't do it.
That would triple the number of fujoshits in the fanbase.
I hope we get more silly faces if there's a new anime.
That's when you timeskip forward and show him married to Misa; the rage will be palpable. It would be glorious.
>inb4 Ryuk is bored yet again and drops a new Desu Noto and the same fucking shit happens all over again.
But this time the MC is a girl
>married to Misa
Oh man that would be fucking great
As a side note, I hope they can get Aya Hirano back in business if there's some kind of new anime project.
Death Eraser is coming!!!
Calling it now.
>Death Note 2
You know they can't resist.
wait what the fuck why? this better have to do with the anime. if obata and ohba are going to continue Death note that would be so fucking stupid. they need to make more original shit.
Fingers crossed for an alternate timeline that shows a glimpse into Light's Orwellian dystopia.
The totalitarian society he creates where people are afraid to so much as look askance at people in positions of power. Underground resistance meetings where everyone wears masks to guard against moles. Etc.
>the exact opposite of a death note
>means it's a list of everybody who's died and you can bring 'em back by erasing their name
Why wouldn't they continue Death Note? There are numerous ways and outcomes from people picking the notebook itself.
>anyone whose name your right in the notebook comes back to life
And it ends with the world being fucked up due to overpopulation.
why would they write a story that they have written before.
>new death note series about different people getting the notes and shit happening
>the specter of Kira hangs over the series
We Jojo now.
JUST AS PLANNED
Look at the bottom of that webpage, the copyright is for ohba & the manga publisher. In other words its probably not going to be new anime stuff.
wasn't that shit in the pilot?
>inb4 it's now a SoL about cute death note holders and their shinigamis doing cute things
>implying it won't eventually become new anime stuff
We've seen a guy who became "God" and tried to purge evil.
We might get something like Higurashi or Umineko with mystery shit and two characters outwitting each other.
Why? Hasn't it been too long? Shouldn't there be some kind of moratorium on when you can suddenly decide to revive a dead franchise?
I can't really see how they can play off of how Death Note ended without copy-pasting the story and rearranging some plot devices.
Here's hoping for an independent story with new characters or else this is gonna be a clusterfuck.
>it turns out to be an OVA
Alternate timeline where Light stops using the Note and is filled with remorse, Ryuk fucks off and takes the note to someone else, calling Light boring. He still has pages hidden away in case of emergency. Three way battle of wits between Light, L, and the new note owner, Light trying to keep his secret while still working with L and secretly using the ripped pages to manipulate patients with terminal diseases before their deaths to disrupt the plans of the other Note user.
After the shit that was Bakuman they need something to make money.
Wasn't she already back in business? I thought some company name Grick hired her.
Replace Gr with Descartes and you get what her work entails.
Close enough. Where's my fucking gold star?
Its just gonna be that eraser shit, or an anime adaptation of L - Change The World, even though that's already a novel and a live action program.
>Death Note anime aired 8 years ago
I'd be willing to buy a whole adaptation and the merchandise if this happened.
It'd be like my favorite thing ever even.
>story through ____'s eyes
>RAITO as shinigami
place your bets
So is Madhouse just trying to desperately hang on to whatever glory they might have left?
You're joking right? Bakuman sold millions of copies. Ohba could probably retire on all the money he made from it.
Id be genuinely interested if they somehow brought light back into this somehow, by him being shinigami or some stupid shit. It would be hilarious.
They can only make one Redline
Love to see whatever adaptation end by retconing Light as a shinigami and smiling as he drops a note in the human world and some fag picks it up.
>8 years ago I was talking shit about other people liking death note.
I never read the manga. Is the anime adaption weaker or superior?
>Light comes back
>first thing he does is bitch slap Near
So nothing changed?
Redline may have been pretty nice, but it sold like shit. 7 years wasted on their part.
How? It's fucking shit.
Theme for this thread.
It will be a series of 5-minute shorts, made with flash
WE'VE ALWAYS BEEN THIS TO FREE ALL THIS PAIN
11's have shit taste, this is known.
Anime is fine. Light goes out like a little bitch though, but we do get this for the ending scene.
Which really ramps up the emotional impact.
>anywhere near shit
Even if it was shit, that hasn't stopped stuff like Naruto from selling amazingly well
What? ANOTHER? They made the anime and the live action movie already. And it was not a lot of years ago. They still have to learn a lot from the master, Mr. Anno.
Oh come on it was fucking awful after the first few arcs.
Well, that wasn't a very hard question...
Strongly disagree. Sure, it wasn't as good, but it was by no means bad. You're an idiot.
No it was bad. Really fucking bad. The second they introduced that rich kid with his team of anonymous writers shit nosedived hard and never recovered.
I just want a dead Light and L SoL
oh shit, it's manga? sorry, I'll take this thread over to the manga board.
I could go as far to say its one of the worst things I have ever read. It was clear they had no idea how to extend the story past 50 chapters, so they kept doing evil mangaka of the month for 100 more chapters. They had like 5 "rivals" whom after their arc was over appeared for only brief snippets of them working o a weekly basis. Seriously, every chapter had a working montage type this where they'd show them working and that's all they remained relevant to the story.
That's already better than the original.
Never forget, Light was Right.
I thought that was obvious, if it starts in march, there's no way they could announce it now and be ready.
Nah, your mom was right.
Suddenly, some yo mama joke gone wrong with intriguing results.
Light was an insane degenerate who deserved to die.
/pol/ are degenerates too.
They use that term without comprehending that the real enemy is themselves.
>Light is now a shinigami
But...anon, it was popular for all the wrong reasons.
Damn you though, I would watch that.
Im sorry it was actually pretty decent and semi-enjoyable for most of it.
>The police are responsible for wars and crimes being committed again.
>implying keeping people from committing crimes using fear is wrong.
Light/Superman/etc was right.
>might makes right
How's the weather back there in the 15th century?
Pretty good. No social justice bullshit. No media or celebrity bullshit. Survival of the fittest.
Senator Armstrong, you're drunk.
The Church was the media of the middle ages. They just gossiped about much older celebrities. Humans haven't changed as much as you might like to think.
I'd watch it.
I promise you that the feudal overlords of medieval Europe were far from the genetically fittest. They were a bunch of fey, frail, inbred pantywaists who rigged the system to grant them unearned power.
What about a fucking remake of 36 episodes where L dies in the last one?
Light is a shinigami all along
would you anons rather see Light as the main character, or as the Shinigami of the main character?
if it weren't for social progress, you would have spent your childhood in serfdom and wound up dead in a ditch before age 20.
>Light goes back on time with some shinigami power and helps human him avoid all of the mistakes he made.
>also L dies at the end
It could be so beautiful.
>Sends anyone's name written on it to the date and time next to their name
>Suddenly Light with the power to control Death and Time
OVA with Light as a Shinigami
>Movie with Light as a Shinigami
Probably just a BD release.
This is awful news. Only the first half of Death Note was even good.
Maybe some action figures too.
Reminder that /pol/ breeds these retards.
You are just as bad as the social justice shitters and would have died of black death among the masses.
Second half was cool just to see what happened under Kira's ruling. Lights fall was really cool as well. Near and Mellow were fucking lame though.
>Second half was cool
unless it's a version where L wins or a high budget remake that ends post ep 25 I'm not going to be too excited
Alternate ending with Light winning please, please and please again.
You know, Light becoming a shinigami isn't that bad an idea. Think about it, the shinigami realm is in neither heaven or hell and is a totally valid place to go after death for those who have used the death note. I imagine that's how all Shinigami come into being.
However, it's been so goddamn long since the last DN user died that nobody remembers it. The shinigami that saved that one girl's life could have been one such former DN user as it "loved" the girl enough to die for her, something the other shinigami sans what's her name that followed Misha around laughed it. Even Ryuk doesn't give a fuck about Light in the end.
I think the hate for Deathnote is a great example of a fanbase ruining something good.
I liked the concept of a darker, psychological thriller becoming a hit shonen series (as opposed to the top spots being dominated by battle series). It certainly made missteps in the second half, but I think the hate it gets stems more from the Hot Topic crowd adopting it as the best thing ever...
>takes place after Death Note, Near is older, most people have forgotten about Kira
>MC is a kid who still believes in Kira's idealism, but isn't some crazy fanatic; just believes that Kira was right in ridding the world of criminals
>mysterious shikigami drops a death note to this kid, kid begins his quest to recreate the world like kira
plot twist: the shikigami is light
I need more Mello____
Too bad he's kill. ;_;
>most people have forgotten about Kira
Kira would be something kids hundreds of years later would have to know about for their history classes. The world would not so easily forget it.
It's most likely another live action movie.
Mind you, I liked the Death Note manga back in the day, but I wouldn't care about a sequel if it isn't made by the original authors.
>Moe high school girls with the power to kill anyone they wish
Its going to be something incredibly underwhelming like a rerelease and some merchandise.
Mello was the biggest cunt in the entire show. I don't think anyone liked him.
Don't you mean Might makes Light
>I don't think anyone liked him.
That nigga had a fucking HORDE of fangirls.
How's being 15?
Any"one" implies human beings. I've met death note fangirls, applying "human being" to them is a stretch.
THE UNENLIGHTENED MASSES
THEY CANNOT MAKE THE JUDGMENT CALL
GIVE UP FREE WILL FOREVER THEIR VOICES WON'T BE HEARD AT ALL
we've always built this too free up this pain
we've always built this to free up this pain
That OP was so hilariously bad.
Can't say I sympathize with you. I never pay attention to fanbases, so I really don't know other people champion it.
pretty sure they'll animate the LN with Beyond Birthday and L
I kind of feel the same way. I enjoyed the second part of the series in spite of it's goofy, over-the-top antics. DN was always 'out there', but it was such a change from the norm that even today I find myself reading volumes of the stuff.
The anime adaptation was great but was way too fucking heavy-handed with some shit. The feet washing scene comes to mind, as does adding Light running away in the end.
I liked it better when Light just died pitifully in front of everyone.
Well the 1st OP and ED is godlike anyway. Perfect mood for the anime.
I was rooting for him after L died
Near is the biggest faggot of the show. I wish that fag died
it's one of the best OPs ever, even after all these years
>Forgotten about Kira
Have you forgotten about Hitler?
No one is going to forget Kira
Certainly not in less than a life time
Forgive me it was awhile ago, but what about that ending where light is taking the pain of every person he killed in the afterlife, and he decides to go to the shinigami king or something
If they actually remake Death Note they better animate the manga ending.
The manga ending of Light suffering is 10000 times better
Its probably another live action adaptation.I rarely get my hopes up when these announcements come about anymore.
That ending it stupid because it panders to justicefag who think that Light was wrong.
Agreed. I actually found that ending sadder than the shit we wound up getting in the anime. Light's initial motive was noble, if puerile. But over time he just became an asshole and a monster, consumed by the prospect of becoming a 'god' and the power that permitted him.
His dying in such a pathetic way really drove home how far he fell.
So you're still in high school right?
Light begging Ryuk to kill everyone, and begging for his life better than what the anime did.
It's implied that Near may have done some dirty shit to defeat Light.
>I will never be back in highschool watching deathnote for the first time thinking it was the greatest thing ever
>it airs on tv
>kid tells me to watch it subbed
>stream it on stage 6
>tell kid its a pretty cool show
>tells me L dies and it gets shit after that
Aww you care about us too :)
Wasn't that heavily implied in one of the specials?
in b4 light is a shinigami and the series is about some poor sap that he gets to keep extending his own life while he keeps hunting around for a way to come back to life in the human world to continue his work of killing the ever living shit out of criminals and whatnot.
It's going to be an OVA adaptation of Debu Note
along with this Near and his faggot buddy proceed to continue autisming about trying to figure out how in the fuck kira is back doing kira shit.
then they find out about light doing his shit.
then we get into clusterfucks about kekiku doori's from the lot trying to go back to killing each other off because they know the rule he can't simply interfere with shit but light keeps trying to indirectly get the two of them killed.
...Huh. I knew Death Note was popular, but I didn't think it was popular enough for an anniversary celebration. I mean, you don't really see anyone talk about it much these days. It's not exactly Evangelion or Dragonball.
always listen to yo momma, anon
by that you mean he helps him kill L and Mello and Near asap.
that would be nice
>Evangelion or Dragonball.
No one would still talk about those either if the milking stopped.
They could easily continue the series, since even though light died, the world was changed forever. They could get some character (new or old) to find out that light was kira and they would try to start kira's work again. Only this time, most people would already know how death note works, so he would need more next level mind games to trick people to show their faces and names.
Well that's the fault of the parents then for giving birth to a child in a poor and unsafe environment, and last I check that would be child endangerment which is against the law.
this could be really good
it would be hilarious if light was the shinigami that gave him one but he doesn't realize it worth shit.
I would go for a KIRA End, but only if it were a one-shot and no "Rebellion by the Chosen One" crap is played.
At beat make Light finish his story like Ceberus from David Sim. In the peak of everything, yet lost in a void of Nothingness.
I hate Death Note as much as anyone, but this shit would have been so much better if it ended when it was supposed to.
When was it supposed to end?
When boku used bible black.
>Light drops his Notebook in the human world to get someone to continue 'gods' work in his name
>The guy who picks it up is a complete moralfag who refuses to kill anyone no matter what
>The years pass by, and since Shinigami need to kill in order to live, and the MC isn't killing anyone Light tries to manipulate him through more and more desperate means
>In the conclusion, when Light corners the MC into what he believes to be a situation where he has no choice but to sacrifice somoeone, he uses the note to kill himself instead
>Another live action movie
just one question
why wouldn't light just do it? if he's a shinigami he has nothing else to do anyway, and he has the eyes... also spending time in human world is nice, especially cause of all the apples
Hes not Lulu.
Are Shinigami allowed to do something like that?
I got a couple of ideas on how that could work out, but the most aparent want would probably be this:
Because he secretly craves affirmation. He wants to believe that other people would have done the same thing he did.
I'm with you.
This board is mostly homosexual libs with the mindset of a child. Reddit has truly invaded.
they're fucking gods of death. their life span increases by the remaining life span of people they killed. it was all explained in animu
Their job is to kill people. King of the Shinigami doesn't give a shit about who or why.
>trying to link the concept of morality with underage redditors in order to make it look bad
Quite the rethoric shenenigans, would you?
I never knew I wanted this so much until now.
Of course killing is allowed; that is the shinigami's purpose. But is a shinigami allowed to kill indiscriminately in a way that would impact the world they depend upon?
So, it's basically a Faust-spinoff with Light as Mephisto?
from animu we know they just can't kill to prolong somebody's life...
so i guess, if light were to do his thing, he would be prolonging quite a number of lives (thought not sure if anyone has the balls to be a killer in the world of kira ...)
There's no rule in the notebook against it. No real need for one since Shinigami really can't be bothered to kill anyone until they realize they're running out of years to live.
The king might intervene if they were in danger of wiping out the humans or some junk, but taking out some criminals? I doubt he'd care.
Light being a decent human being? Not happen.
While I don't personally hate homosexuals, I hate constant degeneracy(in general)in this board. I am no judge to whoever perpetrates, but every time I see it, I cringe.
Either this board is 80% female, or just fucking gay.
Get out, you really don't belong here if it bothers you.
>for trying to save the world
The Live-Action made the most money. So its gonna be that
>Dis b8 again
>Get out, you really don't belong here if it bothers you.
So just because I hate degeneracy, I have to leave an anime board? That makes no sense.
Joseph looks terrible. What the fuck.
Was there an actual reason why it couldn't be shown Light winning in the end? I mean, is it such a hard concept that the actions of Light actually does save humanity and bring a new era?
I see this a lot in works of JRPG and movies that authoritarian is always bad and the only piece I've seen that authoritarian is good is Logh.
back to reddit with you
You meant: Keikaku
(translation note: keikaku means plan)
Oh god, no. Just stop. It already went from being a decent short story to being prolonged garbage with the same things happening twice. Now it's just gonna be shit.
Because the artist was getting sick of the series and extended it past what he wanted, he has hinted at this within his Bakumen series when talking about series "that go longer than they should".
That being said, we'll see what happens with the anniversary.
Got Damn I hate /a/'s userbase fucking anime fags
A BD version of Death Note would actually look beautiful if done correctly.
I swear here and now, I'll never use the word edgy again, you look so stupid.
People really believe this shit?
Mello was the best character after Light, idiot. That gay was the only one who got some balls among the "good" guys, Near is a faggot.
But it's still the best thing ever. Let some time pass and then rewatch it, it will still hit the spot.
>I hate Death Note as much as anyone
Hahahahaha. Nah, it's just you and some other repressed people. Sorry to break your illusion.
Anime sequel by studio MAPPA
I liked the way mello did things, biting his chocolate and his crew of homies.
>implying that manga is bad and doesn't belong
get out you fucking pleb
what if it's about lelouch with a death note
What if it's a series about the Wami House? I could see that working, just have Watari as the main character and each episode is him writing in his diary detailing the everyday exploits.
>doing anything that doesn't have fanservice left and right
Zetsubou Sensei is dead.
So they are trying to ride the Free! train?
>Aku no Rotoscoped.
probably an anime adaptation of the Death Note LN
It's a prequel with L and that female Agent Light killed early on in the series, as the protagonists. They are after some dude who looks just like L, called Beyond Birthday who has the shinigami eyes and kills people to challenge L.
I'm putting my money on a remake.
Or rather, hopes. Since anything else will be shit.
