Is this the quality of the episode, or is something wrong with my video codec?

This says nothing

It actually says plenty. Never download 1080p TV releases since the original source is actually 720p->Tv studio encodes it again 1080p unscale->Horrible subs rips ans encodes it again.

The only time I ever download 1080p is BD rips
>>
I've always wondered; is it normal if the video gets slightly darker whenever something really fast happens?

No, I don't download HS or 1080p upscales.

A jpg isn't really helpful for us to see what you are seeing.

You have no idea what you're talking about if you think HS encodes anything. They literally just rip the subs and video file and mux it.

Holy shit I thought it was the dynamic contrast setting on my monitor. I know for sure it's switched off but I always notice picture gets dark then bright all of a sudden in Strike the Blood.

It's very disorientating.
