Sub or Dub?
a dub dub?
depends how good the dub is.
Thanks for the grub.
The only good dubbed anime is dragon ball Z
if you have to ask this question you probably won't even last 5 episodes
Evangelion dub is very good.
How people come to such retarded conclusions is beyond me.
Dub, for Spike Spencer.
Mostly Subs when most characters are Japanese or the show is set on Japan.
Mostly Dubs when most characters are not Japanese or the show is not set on Japan.
There are notable exceptions like Cromartie though.
Only acceptable dub:
German, Spanish, Cantonese, Norsk.
French, English, Russian.
Gurren Lagann dub was shit
I lub da dub
German Dubs are bad and only watched for nostalgia reasons. But i love the Digimon one. That translated op is too good
that's one godlike op
Dub gets it all right. NGE is one of those rare instances where the dub is better than subs. The only glaring instance is EoE. Since the dubbing was done by a different studio, they couldn't get all of the original cast some some of the voices have terrible replacements.
Doke, doke, DOKE
Requesting gif of this
Every single german Digimon song from the first three seasons is god tier
You made me do this
There's a Norwegian dub of NGE?
Oh my god that is the worst thing ever.
You just destroyed some of my fond memories of watching chinese cartoons on RTL2 after school.
I like it that atleast we got the uncensored version of one-piece and yu-gi-oh
Nei, ikke faen. There are hardly any anime here in Norway and they always have bad dubs. Spanish dubs are hit or miss, I can remember that from when I lived there. They also change dub casts sometimes after tons of episodes, which is annoying. Like in Shin-Chan and Kochikame
Did you say dubs, OP?
/a/ you turned me autistic, I actually got flustered when my brother said that he prefers dubs over subs.
unless it's Ghost Stories, sub
First time with the dub, second with the sub.
Congratulations, you won!
I HATE Spencer's fucking voice. It sounds too damn old. Tiffany is grating. I guess Rei was alright? Ritsuko is the worst thing I've ever heard. And all the screams were all worse than the original.
>Mostly Dubs when most characters are not Japanese or the show is not set on Japan.
The characters being non-japanese does not make the voice actors picked up off the fucking gutter any better at their jobs.
I hate you neo-/a/, I really do.
Evangelion is a different series with dub.
I tried to watch the Eva dub, but I didn't like a lot of the voices compared to the Japanese dub (Like Gendo for example) plus every time I heard the English Shinji I couldn't stop thinking of Rolo Lamperouge
As for dubs that I liked more compared to the original audio:
Dragonball, Dragonball Z, and G Gundam
Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, Death Note, and Code Geass I enjoyed equally with original audio and in dubbed in English.
both at the same time
Shinji sounds like a girl in the subbed version(and his/her scream is comparable to the noise a cat would make if you dropped an anvil on its tail).
you're right about asuka and ritsuko though: they were appalling.
Dub Asuka > Jap Asuka
Eva dub was good for it's time. Some of script is little wonky and the side characters can be a little goofy sounding (Matt Greenfield.. ugh). Honestly though I loved Allison Keith as Misato more than Kotono Mitsuishi. Not that either were bad in fact both I love both, but something about her english voice and scripting just clicked with me more.
Still I'd go with sub just for better consistency overall.
Man I can't her either way
DUBS ARE INFINITELY SUPERIOR TO SUBS. please stop being such fucking sheep
here is proof. compare the subtitles to what yamazaki is actually saying. they dumb down subtitles like fucking hell to make them easier to read
Dubs and subs can both suck, it's all subjective.
the only two dubs I ever liked were bebop and panty+stocking
I recently tried to watch the tenchi gxp dub, and nothing being said made any sense at all
I went back and got the sub, and they had cut out about half the content from the dialogue, plus the characters sounded less goofy and irritating
eh come on there's no need for that elitist attitude. I like my dubs and respect the improvements over the years to them, but there's no need shit over one's preference.
I have precisely the same opinion as this guy, but I would switch subs and dubs
dubs have localization, which means they change things, and even add things
I don't want things changed, im smart enough to grasp the original culture
I dont need ideas translated for me as well, just the words
thats why an accurate subtitle will always be better
just finished episode 26...what?
Yeah a lot Funimation's earlier dubs were like that, and that was one of the few that was outsourced to LA at the time so the results were mixed. I also hate how when Tenchi and friends show up they made no effort to get original dub cast back. I mean Funimation went out of their way to use LA talent pool, but they couldn't get the original cast back for one fucking episode? What was the point?
does End of Evangelion make this make sense? I mean, I understand what happened I think. it's just this feeling that that can't be it, there has to be something more, right?
They ran out of money and they had to finish the series with what they got. So, Anno just jumped to the conclusion of the series without resolving the plot.
Episodes 25/26 are happening inside instrumentality project.
Shinjis voice is spot on in the dub, the rest is kinda meh.
>does EoE make sense
Only acceptable dubs are Español Latino dubs.
I used to like Spike Spencer as Shinji, but over the years I've kinda soured it because of what douchebag he can be. I used to mod on on Behindthevoiceactors and he sent this long ass hateful email to one of the admins blaming us for his career declining because one of the other mods added in his description that he preferred working in non-union dubs. Fuck him seriously I know outside stuff like that shouldn't effect my opinion on his performance, but goddamn it just makes me wanna nitpick his entire career when someone does something like that
Not a spanish speaker but I love the spanish DBZ dub. Laura Torres is the best Gohan
So there are actually people this retarded.
> French dubs
> Cringe-worthiest thing on this gay earth
Pick two. I'm french and I can't stand french dubs.
Maybe we can get him to become a depressed recluse. Then his voice will be spot on for Re-rebuild.
Portuguese DBZ is godtier
all the Euro dubs were already shit from the get go because they were based off the French dub, but at least Portugal had fun with it.
