I'm watching this for the first time. What should I expect?
Family pandering crap as expected of Miyazaki
>I'm watching this for the first time. What should I expect?
Why do people make these threads?
Are they desperate for attention and burned out on ideas for good threads?
A dick in your ass.
if it weren't for this films incredible score it wouldn't have been half the movie it became
Watch Whisper of the Hearts over this.
People who make these sorts of threads have never made good threads.
>What should I expect?
an anime film
>What should I expect?
I hate those pointless threads. It's 2 fucking hour long. Jusr watch it and come back, then maybe we can discuss it.
The train scene was the best part of spirited away. The music and scenery was 10/10, watched it numerous times.
ending that rips your heart out.
An environmental message is likely
She sleeps with more pigs than Old McDonald.
Yeah, I never got the point of this sort of thread. If you want to watch something, why does it matter what we tell you?
My afroamerican friend
tried watching it as a kid
didnt really catch to it
might try it again sometime but idk, probably not worth the effort
Too much Japanese culture in it such that non-Japs won't get it.
The train scene is beautiful though.
I'm guessing but they prolly got that from a scenic view in Copenhagen.
And the hotel is from Dougu onsen in Shikoku.
Worth a visit if you like that kinda shit.
>Yeah, so I'm a weaboo that travels a lot.
Go watch Porco Rosso instead.
You're late to the party
Is the dub good for this? Ghibli usually hires good actors for their dubs.
Really? Wasn't the dub for Porco Rosso absolutely terrible?
I think it's a little too slow paced at times for little kids. Actually, I think all ghibli films are. I'm surprised Totoro was as popular as it was, considering very little of the movie actually has the kids playing around with Totoro. Then again, maybe I'm underestimating the attention span of children.
I haven't seen that one but the english VAs he gets are usually actual actors instead of just voice actors. Howl's Moving Castle had Christian Bale, Lauren Bacall, Billy Crystal, and Crispin Freeman.
I like the dub better just by virtue of nostalgia, since it doesn't sound right to me unless it's in English since that's how I watched it all the time as a kid. If you're just watching it for the first time go with sub though. I think the only dub that is actually better than the sub is Howl's.
All I know is that I saw it on or near release when I was eight or nine and I loved it, still probably in my top 5 films. I don't know about other kids though.
Pigs in human clothing
It's a masterpiece of course, it was a gook cartoon that won an oscar, do the fucking math. What's the point of asking such a question anyway?
I would laugh but that wordplay is so good it's not funny anymore, just awe-inspiring.
Really? I thought it was quite fast paced when I was a kid. The beginning is a bit slow maybe, but after that it gets interesting. I mean, it's not suitable for the smallest children anyway; elementary school kids should have an attention span long enough for Spirited Away.
Not Porco Rosso, that's for sure.
Like Inuyasha/Touhou/etc., it's retread of Japanese mythology. Only instead of TV or manga, this one's done as a movie and with better art.
Yes you'll love it, everybody does.
I passed out while watching it. I was very tried.
The title pretty much explains the movie.
If it doesn't make sense then that just means you don't know shit about Japanese mythos.
gives me a heartgasm
Please make me your slave
Shit plot and down right amazing animation.
I just love the way this movie is misunderstood by people who are ignorant of Japanese culture.
It's about SEX. Growing up, puberty, first love and SEX. The bathhouse is a fucking brothel. Chihiro has been sold into prostitution. The daikon creature in the elevator scene is a fertility god, you even hear the orgy going on when the elevator stops.
