ITS OUT ON BATOTO. ITS BEEN 2 LONG YEARS AND ITS FINALLY FUCKING OUT
Good news, they found a japanese translator.
How is Asuka still working? Didn't her fiancé get killed like days ago?
You have to be tough as nails in this cuoco business.
I´m just glad that for now(?) they didn´t shoehorn a romance between Ban and her, specially right after that death.
I work in a cucina too so I sort of understand but days after the dude you're about to marry dies? Too heavy man.
I'm with you with the lack of shoehorned romance but it's bound to happen unless Ban finds himself some new bitches
Reading ALL THEIR DIALOGUE with an Italian accent mentally is the only way of reading this.
I love you anon.
Well it's not just any day, it's the grand opening of a risky new restaurant. The first few days, or even the first month or so, can make or break the entire shabang, and it's not like Asuka is just a dishwasher or something. I mean yeah ideally you'd give her some time to recover, but it's better for her and everyone else in the long term to go to work.
that order is not written in some fucked up italian, I am impressed, (I never read this series)
Kind of related tip (at least according to german laws): You have the right to ask for 1 day free at work as a chance to mentally recover and mourn if a related one dies.
Ban´s best hook-up so far has been his ex-girlfriend and I´m prety sure it´s going to be difficult to throw her out of that waifu pedestal.
One night stands like with that officelady are ok, but it won´t mean happyness for the long run (specially if she´s married and has a kid).
That arc and the one with the rich fatso organizing the wedding party for his college crush were pretty great
The Mafia arc? Kind of jumping the shark a bit ..
If it's anything like the first series, the Italian is horrendously fucked up to the point you need to take Sekiya's Japanese translation for the Italian and translate that into English, then have someone fluent in English and Italian translate that into Italian.
Yeah when I first read it I had no idea what the fuck they were saying but I still liked it because its a manga about the bullshit and tribulations of the kitchen and I'm about that. After I studied abroad in Italy and got a hold of the language a bit, it made rereading it so much better
so is all in the hands of the translator? It seemed too good.
Doesnt the author ever included a translated note?
I'm with you on the mafia arc. I thought it was the weakest arc in the entire manga. I think the realism of the arcs help pull me in and catering for mafiosos in New York was much2much
They did but I couldn't remember every term they threw out as the story went on
I guess? I'm not Italian so I wouldn't know, but the difference between the scanlations and raws is always pretty big so I assume there's some shenanigans involved.
Jesus christ that chicken scratch handwriting. Props for accuracy though, its like I'm really reading an order at work
Translating Sekiya's Italian is a pain in the ass because he writes most of it in katakana so you have to look it up/approximate it based on sound and romance languages aren't phonetic. THEN you have to give that to a dude who knows Italian and trust that your transliterations were accurate.
Man, fuck Sekiya Tetsuji.
That sounds absolutely horrifying but I appreciate your hard work honorable translator-sama. Is this why secondo took so long to get picked up?
>fegato di vitello
and only now I notice a lack of barfing images.
That's a cow liver, fucking Venetians.
And that first one is so small that I cant even read it.
Props to you for going through such a pain.
The Italian isn't why I stopped if that's what you're asking. It might have been why it took so long for anyone else to bother though. Given most fan translators' Japanese literacy levels, I can't help but imagine that Ban's accent might have been a reason as well.
>that chapter when Ban tries Cazzu Marzu
>that chapter when Ban cooks for the Cicciolina and is trapped in a wine cellar with her
>that chapter when the "Polentone Club" and the "Terrona Organization" booked up the restaurant the same day by mistake
Your body is not READY for Secondo.
So if you don't mind me asking, why did you stop? Other projects or something?
I agree with you two, but I think it could have worked if it turned out they just wanted someone to cook and he had to prove that his food was good even though he was not Italian. Or they call him out to say GRAZIE for the food and are surprised it is a nip and spic who just cooked that dank food for them.
Without the cooking contest battle where losing means death and mafia revolution or something. Yes, that was so horrible.
Manga took itself too seriously in some of the arcs like the aforementioned.
I want Ban to have some casual sex with the manager where maybe he ends up wanting something more meaningful and it could lead to another woman. Cliche, I know. I am not a writer, but that manager needs to take her clothes off for me to be satisfied.
Romance arc seems like it will be at least 5 chapters away though as this "Ban needs to prove his skills to veteran chef" arc is ongoing and the author has shown poor skill in integrating multiple plot arcs together.
Well, I said I was busy and didn't want to take on a weekly series which at that point was still going, which is definitely true and still is, but that's only part of the reason. I also didn't like the way the art evolved, I felt the story was sort of mined out in terms of ways to go so Sekiya had to resort to increasingly outlandish things to keep it moving (stuff like the Mafia arc in the original, to give you an idea), it felt at points like Sekiya was using the characters/scenarios as soapboxes for his own views on regional politics/race, and holy shit Tsuchiya is a terrible antagonist who only made a good "rival" to Ban because Sekiya decided everyone around him would suddenly become spontaneously retarded.
I didn't mention that in my closing statement for Bambino because shit, man. Who wants to finish reading a story they enjoyed and see someone say "Oh and there's a sequel you're not gonna be able to read but I think it's shit."?
Doesn´t matter Spore, we still love ya.
Now that you mention Tsukiya´s soapboxing, I can only think of Nogami´s rambling as "how the industry has change and her people help build up Japan while you young whippersnappers only think in degeneracy and having a good time".
It´s been a long time since I re-read Bambino, but I can´t really think of any other example.
I see I don't quite agree with you but I really appreciate the work you did translating the original nonetheless
mined out in terms of ways to go
I agree with you about this part. I do not think it would have been that bad to have cooking still be a core part of the manga but the main plot could have generic SoL stuff with Ban and his coworkers as the drive behind it.
I liked the part where the hispanics made fun of Ban for not knowing English.
Hell yeah, I still have that fanart on my hard drive.
Oh, it's definitely my own subjective opinion, which is why I didn't go shouting it out for all and sundry.
I liked the part where Ban and Asuka got swindled by the NY taxi driver. It was great.
I think this one of the most shitpost-free threads I've been on in a while but its like 5 in the morn so I'm out. Thanks anons
Bit late the party, but I'm also happy.
You have to admmit that Ban´s relationships with his co-workers allways start on a wrong foot. And they don´t have almost any LIVES, since they´re trapped 80% of their time behind a fucking stove.
Slice of Life Bambino so far has showed us:
>Ban buying a Gunpla in his birthday, all alone
>Ban helping that other faggot on a date with the cute short haired waitress
>They cook in their free time?
Was Tsuchiya the guy with a bandana? Because if so, he was the Tsukasa of Italian cooking
Shit, a Bambino thread since a while and I have to go to work. Have fun, pastabros!
Waiterbros seem to be able to have active lives. I think Ban struggled to have time to go out for most of the manga because he was not used to it so he was so tired and just went straight to bed. Ban had plenty of free time when he was trying to create that Autumn themed food. He just uses his time poorly I feel.
>Posting in 4chan = Making spaghetti
Remember that he´s now the main cook of a restaurant. The little time he had free is now pretty much booked.
No, Tsuchiya is the new dude who shows up in the last volume of the original. You're talking about Katori, who was decent.
