I don't know what this means for Takamura vs Eagle, in Rising, since it appears it's going to be a separate project, but will be released as the final four episode(s); but I can't think of a better tribute and send off for the late Kenji Utsumi and now IchirĂ´ Nagai than this.

Also, good on them for getting Satoshi Nishimura, from the original Hajime no Ippo anime, to direct this, given Jun Shishido's rather questionable run with New Challenger and Rising.

They'll either release the match as a straight to video release, like Mashiba vs. Kimura and the Champion's Road TV film or they'll just save it for the Blu-ray release for Rising, since that article also mentions the series getting a blu-ray release starting in March.

As atrocious as Rising's pacing has been, I consider them skipping Takamura vs. Eagle a blessing, since they'll just take the fucking chain-saw to it like they've did to all the fights in Rising.

While I didn't enjoy it as much as the Battle of the Hawk, Takamura's matches should be released as OVAs. They sure as hell don't deserve the shitty b-list animators that they've been using for New Challenger and Rising.

I wonder who they're going to get to voice Ralph Anderson?

I don't think the nips can handle all dat PATRIOTISM, so I expect they'll tone it down some.

As much as Japanese loves to harp on making themselves the victim, you can bet your ass they're going to turn Anderson's patriotism up to fuckin' eleven, complete with speaking random English gibberish, like Bryan Hawk did in the Hajime no Ippo manga.

I can't believe I almost missed this thread. Been waiting for news on this for a while, hearing the old director coming back makes me excite. 4 episodes, fucking great. We can finally expect a faithful adaptation without cutting all corners.

It makes me wonder though if Ichirou Nagai made it in voicing this, since the article didn't mention anything.

It's likely they have his lines for older Nekota, since Rising went into production during summer time last year, with them making a point to dedicate this season to Kenji Utsumi even before an episode count was announced.

And thankfully they had the sense to end Rising here, because there was no way in hell they could have stuffed Takamura's championship match within the 5 or so episodes they would have left after Miyata's match.

Well, this certainly explains why there's that Ippo/Kamogawa imagery in Rising's opening. I don't even mind them skipping Takamura vs. Eagle for the Post-War Arc, since its something that should have capped off New Challenger.

I doubt they'll be skipping the championship match. It's likely they'll end the dachboy match in one episode, have the following 3 for Takamura's bout and finally the last 4 episodes for the Kamogawa arc special.

>It's likely they'll end the dachboy match in one episode, have the following 3 for Takamura's bout and finally the last 4 episodes for the Kamogawa arc special.

Nah. Even condensed, the Dachboy match will take at least two episodes, since it also marks the return of that douchebag manager, along with Miyata issuing an indirect challenge to Ippo. There's also a bit of drama with Dachboy not wanting to be a piece of shit and have a far match against Miyata vs being a piece of shit so the aforementioned douchebag manager will give him some money to support his family.

Even at two episode (18 & 19), there's no way they would be able to fit Takamura vs Eagle in there, since that fight is literally 3 volumes long and would need at least 6 episodes even condensed. They're either going to skip the fight or have Takamura vs. Eagle released concurrently with the Post-War Arc.

Since the Post-War Arc is airing next month, in Rising's time-slot it's likely the championship match will get pushed back or they'll just bump up the projected 25 episode count to 30.

Not happening. Takamura vs Eagle is 5+ episodes easily and that's being generous.

Well, from the sounds of it, the Post-War Arc will start with Nekota glancing at an old picture of Yuki before setting out to go see the Takamura championship match. Placing it before Takamura vs. Eagle is a good spot, since that would come right after Miyata wins his match and challenges Ippo.

Within that time Morikawa has released two extra short chapters and skipped a couple of weeks due to illness, yet 1040-1046 still have haven't been translated by Mangastream.

It's just as well, since it's in the middle of a match.

>>101672955
>It's likely they'll end the dachboy match in one episode

Nope. The match itself is 5 rounds, even if they skip ahead, they still have to re-establish the subplot with NotDonKing, Dachboy needing money from him and purposely being a punching bag so NotDonKing can study Ichiro. That's two episodes easily. There's also a bit of post-match chatter with Miyata and Ippo, then Takamura, Date and the others and shenanigans with Nekota before the match starts.
>>
Thank god they got Nishimura back. Rising and New Challenger have suffered from a boring adaptation and far too much questionable shut so I'm glad to hear one of Ippo's more emotional arcs get the treatment it deserves
