In that case the disputed territories north-east of Hokkaidou that Russia has claimed for itself after WWII.

The other territorial conflicts are pretty much clear-cut. Korea has the better case for Takeshima, and Japan has the better case for Senkaku. And frankly said no one in the region should have an interest in playing with that balance.

It entitles you to control the sea around it up to 200km from the coast. That's the primary reason.
Also, South Korea hates Japan and would rather have it gone sooner than later, if that wasn't suicide for themselves.
The latest farce was the Japanese army gifting bullets to the Korean army, because they apparently had a shortage. While going through the proceedings of handing them over, a Korean soldier asked the Japanese to take a photo with them. He held up one of those "Takeshima belongs to Korea" signs (obviously in Korean) during that photo. South Korean nationalists are absolute nutjobs. Not like that was any different for the Japanese type nationalists.
East Asia is kind of weird in that sense. I simply don't understand their mindset.

Kumeta is no nationalist. At least not to an extent that would put him on the right.

The scene in OP goes like (iirc):
Give our territory back -> Russia (Kuril Islands)
Give our technology back -> South Korea/China (Korean products became popular as cheap knock-offs of Japanese products)
Give our people back -> North Korea (abductions; happened in reality and I'm sure you have read THAT doujinshi)
Give our money back -> Japanese parliament

The only nationalistic bit is the territory thing, and that is still an open problem unlike, say, the eastern borders of Germany.

Basically the history behind it is that Japan forcefully occupied and subjugated Korea for few decades in the early 19th/ late 20th centuries.
During this time the Japanese made a habit of torturing raping and killing the Korean people.

The Japanese government still refuses to apologize for it and pretty much pretends the whole thing never happened, all the while being super racist towards anyone with Korean blood. This is why the Koreans are so pissed at them.

The entire thing is a problem of apology and forgiving. That's the only way to create a sustainable friendship and peace.
Frankly said all I'm seeing is Japanese apologies and not a single case of Korean forgiving.
I'm not trying to blame Koreans here or defend a potential Japanese lack in apology. Maybe the apologies aren't sufficient, but in the end you have to start somewhere or you will remain in the status quo forever.
If there is any interest in a betterment of the situation Korea could easily achieve that while showing greatness. So far it hasn't.

As a Korean myself, I can say that anti-Japanese propaganda has been going as long as there has been ever since WW2 was over.
General attitude (not helped by hostilities on both sides) has not helped much.

Also, traditionally, Asian countries put great on the past and the ancestors. The Chinese emphasis and philosophy of "muh past" is alive and well as you can see if you have been exposed to Asian culture in general. I particularly remember this phase from textbook I read as a child that emphasized the long history of Korea that spanned "back to 5000 years" and compared to relatively infant America's 200 years and shit. I personally thought it was ridiculous comparing longevity of a country even when I was a child since its just dick contest on who stayed in plot of land longer. Factoring the importance of past in here, Japan and Korea has not been best of relationship for thousands of years with them wagering war on each other craptons of times along with multiple coastal skirmishes on both sides. Comparing to 1000s of years of hate, a conflict that ended (and occupation to boot) just 50-60 years ago isn't that long in comparison.

Living in America and getting exposed to different ideals and culture do open these general mentality up. Korean Americans are more open and generally accepting for example while fobs I see swarm to "death to Japanese" and cling to it as they were taught that way. When you are in country with no other exposures, its natural that you follow it
>>

Lot of it has a lot to do with their collectivist and homogeneous society. If someone says it's so, than it is so and you better not rock that boat.

Hi there friend. You made me remember a joke.
>Korean the mighty nation
>50 billion years ago, Korea ruled the galaxies
>40 billion years ago, Korea's territory shrinked to the Milky way
>30 billion years ago, retreated to ruled only the solar system
>20 billion years ago, moved out from Mars
>10 billion years ago, the Korea ruled the whol Earth.
>....
>3000 years ago, Korea was the supreme ruler of China
>1000 years ago, just the land of Korea (高丽)
>50 years ago, Korea's territory shrinked to what we see in the world map today
>10 years later, Korea only left Seoul
>20 years from now, only left half acre of land
>30 years from now... do you see that Dog house? That will be Korea.

You'll excuse me if I find the punchline lacking.

Actually we should blame all these territory claims on Iceland. Those mother fuckers make the allowed fishing area by UN standard absurdly high of 200 sea miles from land. Can you believe that? Even if it was a small island the effective area around it is still 200 sea miles, which is why you wanna claim it when it is only a damn fucking rock. I HATE YOU ICELAND FOR MAKING SUCH A BIG PROBLEM FOR US IN THE EAST JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE SELFISH.

Basically there was once the "historians" of Korea claimed that all source of Korean literature pointed out that 5000 years ago Korea ruled the whole Asia and possibly even part of Europe and Africa. Some Chinese pissed off by the absurd claim that they made this joke. By the degree of decrements in Korean lands, we can extrapolate and found out that Korea actually ruled the universe in time immemorial, while in the future Korea will have no land left.

Paradox hasn't made a good game since Vicky 2. Why do you still play those games?

At least you don't give Johan DLC shekels, right? Right?

Meanwhile in Germany

>nobody claims the loss land of the east Germany after WWII
>they don't teach that in textbook
>Germans cannot openly claim that those are their lands because m-muh nazi's coming again
>Nobody mentions that Poles systematically kill the Germans in their country just like what Nazi did to the Jews in the holocaust.

Compare to the queen of not letting go a.k.a. France, I salute the German people.

>Germans

I didn't mention "German" painter, did I?
>>
>>101673178
You want to murder every painter in the entire world every time a German goes Octoberfest?
>>
>>101673042
Pretty much, but all the countries take turn in being the fight monkeys while the rest watch excitedly.
>>
>>101673231
Who does murica fight when they're the monkey?
>>
>>101673254
The rest of the world.
>>
>>101673307
Then who's betting?
>>
>>101673204

I want pointing out that if Germans even go a little bit more nationalistic than before, the whole Europe will be in paranoia, hence the "kill all painters".

It's kinda ironic that you insult others and find the uninformed yet this post of yours shows the blatant lack of knowledge of the German question and the historical development of Germany and Austria.
