Anyone else reading this? The premise is good and the designs are nice so it's a pretty good read so far.
I haven't gotten around to reading the novel yet, but I want to before the movie comes out just to see how bad Hollywood can fuck up.
>Anyone else reading this?
Horrible way to start a thread.
Are you for real, retard? It's a polite way of saying "if you are reading it, come discuss it."
>credit page is 20 pages.
But you called him a retard.
The book was a great read and I would give you the mediafire link I got it from but I forgot which one it was. Everyone has read it here, anon.
It should be fairly obvious that they changed Rita's axe to a long machete and cut out the power armor because "muh realistic to modern times" exoskeleton was wanted instead.
Also do yourself a favor and read the viz scans instead of that KMS horseshit.
Rita a cute in manga, but I liked her novel illustration better.
I wish all the retards making these exact AYNIK threads every fucking hour with the same god damn image would just die already.
Because he is in the thread now, I don't need to be polite any more.
Why read it?
Just watch the hollywood movie adaption.
Slow down, tiger. I just got on /a/ for the day and there wasn't anything in the catalog.
>The premise is good
No it isn't
They cut down on that, fortunately, after they got a bunch of backlash.
Still retareded though.
What's not good about aliens invading Ground Hog day?
The writing (translation, whatever) of the LN was so awful. I take it this is supposed to be one of the better ones out there?
Rita is the cutest, but yeah, I probably should get better scans.
I uploaded it the pdf of the book for the people who haven't read in zippy.
Don't say no one ever gave you a chance to read it.
Wow it's like every modern company's PR principles condensed into fifteen words.
(MTO scans are not bad.)
Do not think the novel is technically a LN, but is sure is short enough. I felt it was written poorly but that could have been the translation, it was enjoyable enough to read it in one sitting though. Main problem is that the author never expanded on anything introduced and after a few hours I was on the last page. The MC goes restarts so many times but we only see a a sliver of the day in a handful of his lives.
I was also upset he did not just woo random women like chef. Or be an asshole and do whatever he wanted because he could reset anything he did. Stupid beta japanese herbivores.
Novel is on /rs/: http://www.mediafire.com/download/ea5shh2mh60yoem/All+You+Need+Is+Kill+%28225%29.rar
OK, I messed up that spoiler. Last line was highlighted when I ctrl+s'd
and for some reason
So who put a leash on Obata to draw this? No exaggerated designs whatsoever, everyone looks normal.
Only 3 chapters... I need at least 10 chapters to evaluate.
Reminds me of ground hog day + Battle Royale.
Man, Obata knows how to draw some visceral stuff, I'm impressed, for him draw this after finishing such a light hearted series only a year and half ago
looks like halo
I don't really see the Battle Royale in it.
Light novel reads like a cheap action flick and its another groundhog day scenario not too dissimilar to mubrub
I like cheap action flicks
>AYNIK threads every fucking hour
I wish this was the case. I barely get to talk about it.
KMS are fucking hilarious. Every chapter they put out gets, rightfully, backlashed. And then they re-upload a better version only to fuck the next chapter.
I'll go with MTO.
3DPD Rita just cannot compete with this.
I read this the other day and guns don't work on the rock aliens, but fucking axes do?
Really? Are you fucking shitting me? It's like manga authors have never held a real gun in their life, but what can you do. I still think it is retarded as hell that guns are ineffective but troops still use them cause that is all they have, besides axes and swords that is. It's a good thing they changed that for the movie.
I'm guesing they heal small wounds but not big wounds, maybe? I dunno.
>I read this the other day and guns don't work on the rock aliens, but fucking axes do?
I don't see the fucking problem. The Jackets give massive strenght to your swings.
>it is retarded as hell that guns are ineffective but troops still use them cause that is all they have
Troops on the ground are only there to buy time for the real firepower to take out the aliens. Nobody fucking expects them to do shit other than survive as much as possible at this point.
hollow point bullets?
You know, one day Hollywood will make a good design choice.
Well at least it's not CGI, gotta give that to them.
I'm so fucking scared about Yukikaze.
I must have missed this. What's happening?
FFR-31 looks like total AIDs, but the rest look cool.
After All You Need Is Kill they are gonna make Yukikaze into a movie aswell.
If you didn't know, it is a trilogy of novels that had an anime adaption.
Well that can only end badly.
Muv Luv with powerarmors: Death Note/Bakuman edition the manga.
Yeah, there are at least 1000 things they might fuck up. It's a much harder adaption than AYNISK.
>all these TL notes
I want to see the aliums' kamikaze attack on the navy ships in 3DPD.
I can already see the audience leaving the cinema when Yukikaze turns 180°.
so is this the story meguca and mub rub got their ideas from?
but yukikaze is just science fiction top gun. they've already got half of it down.
>but yukikaze is just science fiction top gun
Okay, I have to ask: is this even remotely as homoerotic as all its promo art suggested? 'Cause damn.
Gay science fiction top gun?
Novels had zero gayness.
The anime, for some reason, had some weird scenes that made you wonder if the MC and his friend were more than just that.
I mean, in your mind you are going to logically assume that it wasn't the intention of those who made it but then you witness the thing yourself adn can't help but feel doubt.
Still, it doesn't detract anything, in my opinion, so if you are interested just go ahead and give it a watch. It is only 5 OVAs.
No, the dude wants to fuck his sentient AI plane.
it took me this long to realize who was the artist
All You Need is Kill Rita
>The Jackets give massive strenght to your swings.
My beef isn't with the axes, it is that guns are mostly ineffective. Humans have invented long heated pikes that can go through inches of steel right now, in use as I type this and have been since the 80's. We have rockets that when near their target, explode and direct tungsten darts with a huge amount of force and inertia. We have grenades that when they explode, the heat produced from its pressure melts your ear drums and eyes. White phosphorus bombs that bake you in half a second with degrees comparable to the sun. But all of this is useless in the face of rock aliens? That's all I'm sayan.
I'm sure form now on, when I read All You Need Is Kill there will be many moments that will make me raise an eyebrow in disbelief about how things work in the real world. I just want my military alien story to either be 100% authentic or not at all. None of this cherry picking business.
In the anime pretty much every 1v1 scene with those two in the picture feels homo erotically charged.
Haven't read the novels because
I read it and it's injected with FREEDOM
The hell are you talking about
Why doesn't Light just write Mimics in the Deathnote?
He is saying that All You Need Is Kill is full of AMERICAN SPIRIT, FREEDOM FRIES and such.
>But all of this is useless in the face of rock aliens?
They adapt to what you throw at them. First Mimics waves were heavily kicked in the ass.
Except he quoted a post about the YUKIKAZE novels.
so its BETA on steriods and "muh instant adaption"
Pretty sure he isn't talking about AYNIK.
Don't forget Johj, Tyranids, Zerg, Aliens, Predators, and pretty much 99% of all alien stories.
Please refrain from being retarded. I'm sure you can convey your message without this kind of shit.
But that kind of shit makes posting more personal and defined. At times, I feel like I know who is posting through their use of text.
Why do you have to hate on my word flavoring, brah?
Now a Johj hollywood adaptation is something I would pay to see.
Always hated those "instant adaption" types. Maybe if it took longer period like a month or half a year or so.
didn't muv luv already do the second-life thing
>But that kind of shit makes posting more personal and defined.
No, it makes you seem like every other faceless retard on here. The ones that are usually behind my filter.
They could just pay basketplayers to stick antena on their heads and act as extras.
Shit could be done cheap.
Someone has their jimmies in a bunch
Not that that would be a detractor for me.
the problem is that there is no many that ammunition supply is big limitation
but I agree that designing it as an axe is really silly
I don't have the book at hand now but I think it wasn't instant. And what with them abusing time loops to power up and win battles
>We have grenades that when they explode, the heat produced from its pressure melts your ear drums and eyes.
What type of grenade exactly?
There you go again. What's next, doge?
>many that ammunition supply is big limitation
It would have been easier to digest the premise if I was told this. Ammunition is a huge concern on a battle field, when you add infinite rock aliens to the mix, I could dig this explanation.
>And what with them abusing time loops to power up and win battles
Wait, so that's the Mimic's power? Holy shit, I can actually see some forshadowing to this if it's true.
Edge of tomorrow was based on this yes?
Or are they denying it like they did with Black Swan aka Perfect Blue.
>only 3 chapters
Goddamn, and just when l thought l was reading muv-luv Takeru playing Dark Souls and gitting gud.
Admittedly, it is the same for me
Yeah, in the end MC must kill Rita to end the loop.
thanks for the spoiler tags jackass
It was explained pretty well in the book.
Basically the Yukikaze A.I. sacrificed much of airframe structural integrity, suffered damage and almost killed the pilot and copilot (guy suffered some internal injuries) in a gamble to shoot the approaching missile.
Yeah, but you know how this works in movies: it is either explained badly or not at all.
Hopefully they don't go Top Gun 2 or HAL+human love or Stealth with the movie.
I'm pretty sure they aren't denying it. It looks pretty heavily based on it.
Jesus christ you could, you know, google the damn movie
Why are you replying to me? I'm telling him that it's based on it.
>it is either explained badly or not at all.
Well, we'll just have to feed the Frodos for a while then.
Though I saw the movie I only remember the part about the A.I. pirating music.
Anyway whether the Yukikaze adaptation turns out well or not, the sheer existence of the movie might trigger the translation of 3rd book as anons posted in previous threads so I'm cautiously hopeful.
>Anyway whether the Yukikaze adaptation turns out well or not, the sheer existence of the movie might trigger the translation of 3rd book
That's a good point. I still don't get why HaikuSoru just translated the first and the second.
Supposedly the third one is very heavy on politics and other non flying related stuff.
Why Japan? Why can't I have a happy ending for once?
Emiru got a happy ending.
Most importantly, did they fuck?
Pretty sure it takes longer than a day to get someone to like you enough to fuck them.
Poor guy doesn't have a chance.
Then again, he could always rape her and not worry about the consequences.
I really like this trailer but there are so many choices for this movie that I disagree with.
>Rita is shit
>Tom is too old for the part
>Plot twist spoilt in the trailer
>Suits are shit
>Everything is way more over the top
>Standard American movie cliches thrown in for the sake of it
>Pointless car chases and shit
Didn't he sleep in her bed or something like that? Isn't that pretty much the japanese way of saying they fucked?
I dunno, I haven't read the book yet. Just saying that it would be kinda hard to get someone to fuck you in one day.
They fucked. Rita is the same kind of time travel bitch.
Well, I could come up with a theory but that would pretty much spoil the book.
>Tom is too old for the part
It can pass. They made a good excuse/background for his character.
>Plot twist spoilt in the trailer
Every modern trailer ever. I basically knew everything about Prometheus just from the trailer and since then I stopped watching any of them.
>Suits are shit
They went for the realistic ones. I'm fine with it, personally, but it kind defeats the purposes of Jackets.
>Pointless car chases and shit
Still wondering what the deal was with that.
What really irks me are the swords.
I want to see Rita breaking down after being told the answer to the green tea question in manga form. How many chapters might that take?
Swords are the least of my worry. Axe to sword I can deal with.
It just feels to hollywood, I guess. Which I shouldn't really be complaining about.
Why would they even have rifles if rifles don't do jack shit?
Why didn't MC just bring a couple of pile driver?
Rifles and pile drivers work fine, the issue is ammo. If you're a random grunt, taking down more than a couple of aliens is a miracle.
The fuck is the PVC piping on his left arm supposed to be?
Kill aliens with it.
>Why would they even have rifles if rifles don't do jack shit?
They distract the Mimics and buy time for the artillery and air support to strike. Also those guns once worked and there must be tons around so you gotta make use of them somehow.
read the novel it is well explained and grossly detailed there but from what i remember its not immune to bullets but its skin is to thick for bullets of that caliber to penetrate. well about the axe it was inertia + material was some futuristic metal + fuck strong power of the exoskeleton. so no that was some bad changes they made in the movie
the reason why the MC used AXE because you a gun has what 400+ that is in automatic can be over in just seconds killing what only 1 mimic then what... whereas axe even thought it gets blunt it can do massive damage.
I see the first book of yukikaze on /rs/ but not the second. Anyone have it?
Seconding this. I read All You Need Is Kill a few weeks ago and it was better than expected, even with the retarded Japanese ending. Can someone explain to me why one had to kill the other? I don't think it was correctly explained in the novel(translation?).
So yeah, I'd maybe like to read Yukikaze. The OVAs were horrible (except for the animation itself) but I have hope.
Rita, usually going for the catalyst first, got her shit stolen by Kiriya who got connected and looped. Now, normally the loop would just end after murdering the shit out of the catalyst after strategically decimating the other Mimics. But Rita, one intrically connected and aware of the looping, was there too and used the same way as a catalyst. Not willingly, but it happened regardless, so they'd loop infinitely until both Rita and the frog kicked the can.
Not /a/ related, fuck off.
Stop making excuses and read already, damn you
First two are pretty self contained, third's just only breaking 5 years of age, offhand comments by the translator of both books (and the OVA even) about how it's more a talking heads book than the others...
Incidentally the OVA was based on the first two books (or maybe I should say the OVA was based on what -was- the extent of the series at the time) so in some interpretation one could say that it's a better cutoff than just doing the first and leaving it than that.
I would if I knew where to find the books.
First and second book is on /rs/ if you search for yukikaze. Both mf links work though the second though I had errors for a bit on the second one earlier. Works fine now though. "Yukikaze.epub" and "Good luck yukikaze.zip"
Got it, thanks. Don't usually check /rs/ because it's abandoned as fuck.
If I remember right the problem isn't that the guns don't work it's that the mimics use zerg rush tactics, so while you can run out of gun it is much harder to break axes.
You're underestimating what modern science and engineering have been capable of condense into bullets.
Just load that pistol with one of these babies and you won't even need the exoarmour.
Captcha: science avercil
>It can pass. They made a good excuse/background for his character.
Maybe, but change of feel from character is too strong.
