What shows did you quit watching? Why? How many episodes did you watch.
I quit zetsuen no tempest and texhnolyze. zetsuen was decent at first but wasn't able to hold my interest. I got bored about 10 episodes in. There was nothing wrong with the show really, it just wasn't that great even though I enjoyed it at times. This was complete garbage since there was so little dialogue and progression.
texhnolyze was just complete garbage, and I gave it four episodes even though I hated every second of it. Someone said it was good.
Fairy tail - chapter 174
Was over it's random arcs that had no correlation and poor character development. Everyone creams over fairy tail and I found it the most boring manga I've ever read.
About ep 4
I went in expecting music SoL. If it was called something like The Tea Club, I wouldn't have been so pissed from being mislead.
>This was complete garbage since there was so little dialogue and progression.
i meant for that to describe texhnolyze
one piece, they stopped showing it on tv in australia and i was too young and stupid to know about downloading, whenever they got to the grand line
That was back when 4kids still had the license.
thats right. and now there are too many episodes for me to be bothered catching up on
dont need reason
then tried the manga and i still don't like it.
>texhnolyze was just complete garbage
There's a gimmick in American comic books known as "the silent issue". It's pretty self explanatory. No sounds, no bubbles, just art. It annoys the heck out of me, as it rarely seems natural, always contrived.
Enter Texhnolyze, which, for its first ten minutes, feel like the anime equivalent. No music, echolicious, nightmare-like sounds, no dialogue, and a bunch of slow motion images that barely serve as an introduction to what's going on. Then you get three lines of dialogue, and you're back into yawnsville.
There's no music, either. Because, you know, silent soundscapes evoke a certain feeling. So, in that sense, it fits great. The most common sound effect is not speech, but rapid breathing (I'm not kidding).
Animation, art and style-wise, this is the next in a long line of anime with long, slow shots (and even slower pans), where everything moves at a sloth's pace, drawn out to the point where you could watch it fast-forwarded and not miss anything. You get the feeling that every shot has been carefully constructed to convey some sort of meaning. It doesn't really come across, and I don't see why anyone would care except for the pretentious guys who come up with this crap. In fact, this whole torturous episode just feels like one big ego stroke.
The creators are screaming out at you:
Check out how not commercial I am! Check out how deep my dark, gritty pictures are! Can you not see my genius from the darkness? And, oh, look, a girl wearing a mask! The reason you think you're confused, is you just don't understand my high concept! Philistine.
This is art at its finest.
Well, it can only get better, right?
At the beginning of the episode, we see a man who has just had his arm and leg severed. While watching this show, I wish I were him. (By the way, it is totally unpleasant listening to him scream.)
By the way, how absurd is the word "Texhnolyze" anyways?
I'll admit that the reasons I'm probably so confused by what's happening in this episode are twofold: 1. I kept drifting in and out of sleep while watching the first episode, and 2. I thought the first episode was so bad, I had to let weeks go by before I hazarded the second.
I've been really harsh on this show up until now, so let me give it a few compliments. Okay, one compliment. I do think that the visual design is extremely good, with the near-future, grittiness well-realized and believable. But it's all static, which is boring in animation. The show is so slow that there's never much movement at any point, not to mention the pacing of the show is so slow, the plot could be summarized in about two sentences.
I'm also not really crazy about the character designs, but that's just my personal preference.
This show stinxhz.
Quit watching Shiki, after a million episodes of nothing happening it suddenly became mega edgy, and then according to what I read it becomes even more so every new episode. I was waiting for some actual horror, all I got was a cast full of utterly unlikable assholes and faggot looking vampires. It's garbage that only edgy misantrophe shits can like.
Quit Gundam 0079 because I got tired of Amuro singlehandedly killing 500 people every episode and then complaining only about being tired. It has a ridiculously bad take on war and there's absolutely no tension nor any emphasis on actual tactics, it actually plays like a Schwarzenegger movie with robots. I also quit Gundam SEED because of the same reasons, except Kira was complaining about killing but then kept doing it anyway.
shiki was pretty bland
keep watching tex, It's work but worth it.
I had to drop RoV at episode 38. It was even worse than American Samurai movies
It really isnt.
It was shit.
I liked the way eerything looked, but artstyle can only take something so far. Like Mononoke.
God, what a waste.
>and I gave it four episodes
Well done you failed the test
Is this some copy paste off youtube or amazon?
You are almost s bad as the Lainfags, who hae now surpassed the NGE fags.
It took me a month to get through the first episodes of Technolyze, but after I did I finished it in one go. You've missed out.
Surprisingly few actually.
I don't see Naruto on there
What do people think is an acceptable amount of episodes to judge a show before dropping? Because 1 episode is never enough to get a fill of a show.
It's on the manga drop list.
Google-fu suggests it's a blog.
Holy shit this stuff is good. He gave Tsukihime an average rating of around B+ (He rates on a per episode basis, which is fucking weird), and an A+ to the last two episodes.
>texhnolyze was just complete garbage, and I gave it four episodes
It doesn't get better. I've seen each and every episode and that was one of the worst thing I've ever done in my life.
Unfortunately, Tex is one of the show /a/ loves to like, because it's the grand hipster show. It's badly animated. The plot goes nowhere. It's very badly paced. It's not good by any metrics, but /a/ needs to like it because it's "atmospheric" and "not loved". Why it is not loved is almost never mentioned.
Texhnolyze is bad. I can't think of anything that was good in it. Even Ergo Proxy, though a shitfest going nowhere, had some really good episodes. Texhnolyze has only one decent episode, and it's not even done correctly.
A cover is usually enough to judge a show. A whole episode is more than enough to sort out the garbage.
>It's badly animated. The plot goes nowhere. It's very badly paced.
Brilliant detailed critiques that really give insight into why the show is absolutely horrible.
People who believe in this never dig up hidden gems.
And what are these hidden gems that have horrible first episode but suddenly turn good afterwards?
Opinion incoming but
goddamn that first episode was a sin.
>texhnolyze was just complete garbage
Nice bait you got there
Why do people need everything to be spoonfed to them?
Too bad that eventually the series goes back to the first episode level of quality with that retarded immortality plot. Not that episodes from 2 onwards were that good to begin with unless you really like crime dramas regardless of their quality.
I was expecting to see generic school life supernatural yada yada stuff, but after few episodes i got just few minutes of action and loads of fetish fanservice. Droped it like its hot.
HEY GUYS LOOK AT MY SHIT TASTE.
KKK. By 4 it gets better. Also, GuP wasn't hidden by any means, but its first episode really paled in comparison to the others. Then again, GuP wasn't all that famous at that point in time.
This actually makes it sound a lot like Blame! to me, and I loved that manga. I think I'll add it to my to-watch pile.
Kinda the same deal, got about 4 episodes into Technolyze and kinda stopped for no real reason, but found myself downloading the ost anyway.
Probably will give it another crack when I finish up with rewatching Gits:sac.
>that friend who dropped texhnolyze and casshern because they were too slow
This is it.
This is why we're only allowed on DEEP/artfag show every kalpa.
comedies that I didn't find funny:
School Rumble (dropped after 11 episodes)
Mahoraba ~Heartful Days~ (8 episodes)
Keroro Gunsou (1 episode)
Futakoi Alternative (1 episode - this one wasn't that bad but I think it was way overhyped when it came out and I was disappointed)
production values were just way too bad:
Chaos;HEAD (two episodes)
Kaichou Ouji (4 episodes) - the main characters are self-absorbed and boring and the whole story plays like a garage-band dad's midlife crisis
Ah! My Goddess TV (2 episodes) - looked really cheap compared to the OAV, plus they changed Belldandy's VA. (I hear she eventually came back, though)
Bleach (6 episodes) - shoddy production, not as entertaining as the early volumes of the manga, plus I didn't know at the time it was going to continue for a billion episodes
>texhnolyze was just complete garbage
nice shit tastes you have there
Why is /a/ full of pretentious hipsters?
If it wasnt for /mu/ and /lit/ you guys would be the worst for this sort of bullshit.
>OP by Juno Reactor
Fucking sold. Time to watch it with Aria to dampen the raw depression.
>hurr durr dis show dum
>no it isn't
>WHY ARE YOU ALL SUCH HIPSTERS?
you got me.
Mouryo no Hako's first episode is quite good, but the handful after that sort of drag. I lapsed in watching the show for quite a while because keeping the story straight between releases of new episodes was getting to be a pain - the fact that the subs were coming out really slowly, and the plot is complex enough that it's easy to miss a lot of details from just watching the raw, also hurt it,
I picked it back up once the whole thing had been released and couldn't stop watching. Now it's my 2008 AOTY.
Watching only 1 or 2 episodes than putting them on dropped is wrong.Don't add them on the list because you're just trying with first 3 episodes.
>Michiko to Hatchin
Do you hate fun?
Why are the last four episodes in mp4 anyway? That ticks me off.
A different group than the first nine did them.
Holy shit, now that I look back, this show went through being picked up and dropped by three different groups before it was all released, and a fourth one had to do the DVD-only episode.
>Watching only 1 or 2 episodes than putting them on dropped is wrong
More like "Grunting: the anime" amirite?
You should get your ADD checked out, anon
I am more entertained by your gif than whatever you said.
That's only in the first 3 or something episodes
One Piece on episode 140~ or so.
K-On when Shitzusa appeared.
Watched Texhnolyze years ago and dropped it after a couple episodes too, a shame since it appeared to have a really interesting style and premise. It just wasn't really engaging and nothing much was happening. Spoiled the ending to myself, looks like it could have been potentially powerful if I had the context, though not sure if I would've felt anything for the characters. Final song was nice, too. Damn shame, really.
More like "Falling down stairs: the anime" amirite?
Texhnolyze is genuinely one of the better shows I've watched. I basically dropped it after 4 episodes the first time I watched it as well because it seemed so boring. It does however pick up by the eighth or so episode and gets better and better from there. I can understand you dropping it because the beginning is boring but it is in no way garbage by the end.
People need to give Texhnolyze a chance, It's one of the best show ever done and has one of the best characters with this nigga in it.
The start is very slow but its worth it just building up to the story and the MC.
I finished it in two days because it was so fucking good I had to know what happened next, I hated the first episode but gave it 9 by the ending.
This. Also, Yoshii is the best character by far. ;_;
i quit watching anime years ago
i just came back here to check on you guys and now i'm leaving again
i love you
>mfw when i've watched 5 episodes of this
>thrice the first episode once the second and twice half of the third.
I CAN'T WAIT!
Child, please go. I think >>>/v/ would be a better board for you.
I had just finished the manga and I wanted more negima content. I really tried to like it but it was just bad, frustratingly bad.
Is this bait or are there really this many people giving texhnolyze shit recently?
It really isn't. The start is very slow but it's there to create atmosphere, and then it's amazing until the end, especially the surface episodes.
It's a thread about people having dropped shows. If one was to drop Texhnolyze after 4 or so episodes, I can fully understand why they might think the show carried on like that. The fact is though that Texhnolyze goes from slow and boring to exciting and excellent; the people in the thread giving it shit however never gave it enough of a chance to find that out.
ITT: People with ADHD
Why did you drop AS? The begining is the same as Clannad, but it gets good when he leaves school.
Several minutes into the first episode, I thought to myself: Am I really going to want to watch an entire season of this shit?
The answer was no.
You lucked out, I wish I had done that.
>moefag in charge of watching something where you have to use your brain.
> texhnolyze was just complete garbage
Get the fuck out you drooling retard.
Why would you watch 62 episodes of something and then drop it?
The last arc is shitty filler. Still, Rurouni Kenshin wasn't bad at all, he's probably got ADD.
