Carrying on the Ochiai Naokuki's Crime and Punishment dump from >>101591236
Scanlations have resumed recently. The scanlator uploaded chapters 39 to 41 (out of about 90) to batoto, and I grabbed them and uploaded them to mega:
Shit will get real during this thread.
Oh, also, if anyone wants to take over the dump for me, much appreciated. Just let me know so I stop dumping. I'm getting the hard captchas, and it's hell.
We're on chapter 12.
Thanks for reminding me about this series. I stopped once the translations did.
Ditto. I can a bit into japanese, but not to the level of this mango.
And it was a different anon who started the previous thread.
I can take over dumping if you want.
It'd be great. Thanks.
Leaving it to you.
you too, can be a super hacker on steroids in a click!
>not recognizing basic anarchist/phreaking cookbooks
It's so simple, how could it go wrong
Just wanna say, you're doing God's work here. I really like this take on C&P. Even though a lot of shit got changed around (no Razumikhin ;_;), the story works really well.
No problem. I want to at least finish v2 since it was already started, I usually just dump volume 1 of stuff to get people interested, and then move on.
If you stop after v2 ends, let me know and I'll pick the dump up again.
Your previous thread, and this one, are serving as news for those of us who were longing for more Crime and Punishment scanlations, and then jmanga pissed on our fun.
OOOOH SHIT IT'S HAPPENING
YES, JUST FUCKING CLOCK THAT BITCH RASKORNIKOV SEMPAI
Oh man this is too tense for me
Why the hell did he wear white if he was gonna murder someone with a cleaver?
He did it for the lulz
Man this bitch sure it's hard to wreck down
Probably the same reason Raskolnikov had for not thinking about how to actually get away from the crime scene, which is to say that they didn't think things through.
I'm not the only one who thinks the main character is a fucking shitlord, am I?
I mean, I'm enjoying the manga and all, but holy shit the main character is a fucking asshole.
I mean seriously, he's a fucking chuuni faggot, and to be honest the whole manga is a little to 'life is shiiiiiiit, life is always shiiiit shiiiiiiiiit', but it's fun right, so whatever.
Dude. Seriously. Stop being a willingly ignorant faggot and read the source novel.
It's really, really hard to kill a human. Like, more so than you'd think.
There are people who have been stabbed upwards of like 20 times who have survived.
HAHA YOU SURE LOOK NICE DORK
What does the source material have to do with my opinion of this depiction of the character?
I haven't read Crime and Punishment, but if that's a prerequisite to enjoy this work, than what's the fucking point of even making this work. Obviously its a Japanese retelling of the original novel in manga form, but I'm talking about this character, in this manga.
And if this is really not that different from the source material at all, then basically my criticisms apply to the original too, more or less.
Oh christ why
Not the original anon, but I think what he's trying to say is that in the original, the MC wasn't supposed to be a very likeable guy, and the story was about him changing for the better, sorta. In that case, it would make sense to think that protag's an asshat, because he's supposed to be in some ways.
Miroku and Raskolnikov are pretty much the same.
It's actually a fucking archetype. The MC of Ningen Shikkaku, for example, is pretty similar too.
Actually, literature at large is filled to the brim with the Raskolnikov archetype.
So yes, you're displaying absolute ignorance, and looking most likely like an american. You're pretty much complaining about a tsundere being the MC of a Zero no Tsukaima remake.
I'm not really. I had already assumed that he was supposed to be an unlikable character. I was posting to make sure I wasn't just high off my ass, but this dude is a dick, and is supposed to seem like a dick.
I've not read or watched many things that have the Raskolnikov archetype, so yeah, I wasn't able to pick up on it right away. I'm not complaining that the MC is an asshole. I'm just stating it. Like I said, I'm enjoying the manga, so my statement wasn't a criticism in the first place.
I just caught up to chapter 41.
Marmeladov tells his story during v5, and it looks like Risa wasn't Sonia after all
>You're pretty much complaining about a tsundere being the MC of a Zero no Tsukaima remake.
That's a bad analogy.
Something more appropriate would be:"You're pretty much complaining about a violent bitch being the MC of an american cable show loosely inspired by Zero no Tsukaima.
I also don't read or watch a lot of crime thriller type things because it's usually not my thing.
Well, an american cable show loosely inspired by Zero no Tsukaima would still be a Zero no Tsukaima remake.
Also, speakong of american cable shows, wasn't the American Gods cable adaptation supposed to start, like, years ago now?
jesus christ just fucking read up to 39
feels real real bad man.
He kills her too.
I used spoiler tags. Why'd you look?
Read 40 and 41.
It only gets worse.
ya just read 1-41 myself cuz of this thread god damn
You know I'm probably only saying this because I didn't just murder someone in front of a possible witness but I would be okay with this if this were me
You're missing the point where Miroku is trying to be a big man instead of a hopeless child who needs support now. What she said only made it all worse.
Actually was the side story with the teacher and his student in the original novel? I seem to fuzzily recall a sort of drunk loser that Raskolnikov talked to as well so I guess that would be the character.. hmm but iirc his story was about his daughter I think?
I get that, I was just saying.
I can't consider it as a pure remake if it is a) completely different media b) made for a completely different audience c) features completely different setting, character and conflict.
What we're basically getting here is Naokuki's own interpretation and presentation of Crime and Punishment. I could certainly understand why people would be able to find MC unbearable but Raskolnikov sympathetic.
Right. It's Marmeladov. see >>101611516
I'll dump the next volume, but I want to make another thread really quick and dump a bit in there.
>I could certainly understand why people would be able to find MC unbearable but Raskolnikov sympathetic
K. Thanks for the dump, anon.
This anon here.
Reading jap raws now, the suffering train does not stop
The suffering doesn't stop
That feel when Ameya dies, and Echika's reaction
When you're done with that, check the source. You won't regret it.
It's not often called one of the best books of all time for nothing.
Actually I already read it too. Yeah it was captivating when I read it in high school.
Mind sharing the link to raws? They're so hard to find.
not him, but aren't the in the winny club?
search with japanese title and "dl" and you should find most raws
not him but simple google search will get you there
just read sparknotes if you want spoilers
Thanks for the dump! Much appreciated.
Huh. It was the opposite for me. I sympathize with miroku, but I couldn't stand Raskolnikov.
