So I was thinking about making a "Top Ten Events" chart for /a/ 2012 & 2013 because I don't recall having seen one for either of them, but I want to figure out what all should go on the charts.
Obviously the NARUTO day, the Woop Woop Raid of 2012, Log Horizon's author visiting, and the Free! shitstorm are going to be be on them, but that still leaves a fair amount of space to be filled.
Renton visits /a/, results in a 1300+ Chuu2 thread about heroin.
Aku no Potatoe and the finale of Oreimo.
Gay Swimming shitstorm, N/a/RUTO.
The season Aku no Hana was a good season because there were multiple characters from different shoes who were also referred to as potato.
The Stardust Crusaders announcement got a sticky for a day, but people weren't really shitting themselves
I was going to suggest the announcement of Rozen Maiden, but after the initial hype, that wasn't that big of a deal either, was it?
The Q&A that the creator of log horizon did a few months ago, the thread was stickied for awhile
Yeah, that was a disappointment.
Definitely include the Vulvarape episode. There was also the Kino announcement, but I don't know if it was big enough to be considered.
Recently, there has also been collective shitting over DameDame and Takarada.
Although it could go under the NARUTO day section, I'd say the life, existence, and death of /q/ was a pretty major event for /a/.
Kill la Kill saving anime.
Shingeki no Kyojin going from a series that was posted about occasionally to the new Naruto.
Shit La Shit didn't save anything.
Much awaited Aku no Hana adaptation being revealed as a terribly rotoscoped piece of shit
Log Horizon creator showing up
/a/ making WataMote a success
/a/ funding Little Witch Academia 2
The entirety of Psycho Pass's second cour
Definitely KlK saving anime.
Oh man. That episode 18.
I like that they apologized in advance for its QUALITY.
Kokoro Connect? LWA kickstarter maybe?
KlK saving anime.
I should probably add Kokoro Connect. Even other websites were talking about it.
So far it seems like:
>2013: N/a/ruto, LH author visit, Free!, KlK saved/didn't save anime, Oreimo finale, Aku no Rotoscope, Watamote gets anime, LWA
>2012: Woop Woop Raid, Kokoro Connect Scandal
No, seriously. You had to be there.
Molester man was also pretty big.
That was really just a follow-up to the unexpected phenomenon Inferno Cop and the success of the Little Witch Academia 2 kickstarter.
If anything, those should be on the list.
Kill la Kill saving anime.
"/jp/ is like a weaponized /a/"
"/jp/ is the new /b/"
I know we're not supposed to talk about it, but 'that week' for KnB in 2012.
Though I don't know if that impacted the board as a whole but good lord, those threads will remain etched in my memory forever.
For 2012 and 2013? From what you didn't list, Aku No Hana, KS causing the /v/ invasion, Christmas 2012(Molester Man, Boys on the run Akame Ga Kill), Studio Trigger related stuff, Saki getting raped, Guillotine Gorilla, and that's all I can really think of that stood out.
How about the guillotine gorilla episode? There were SamFlam threads fucking everywhere when it aired.
You were supposed to take it to the grave, man.
They could be combined into something relating to Trigger as one unit. They did more stuff in 2013 (LWA and KlK), so maybe something like 'Based Trigger 2013". It would suck for Inferno Cop to get left out, though. Maybe they could have spots on both lists?
How about "Trigger saves anime".
Basically gets all three in one.
I'm sorry, I'll never speak of it again.
Log Horizon's author visiting
The birth and demise of the /q/rusaders
Aku no Potato
SZS's mindfuck ending
Watamote's anime announcement
Asuka wins again
Should the SnK and SAO shitstorms be mentioned?
An anon already made a collage about some events on 2013, so maybe you can take some examples of what was mentioned then for the top 10.
Considering SnK and SAO. They were all over the damn board when they were airing, so I suppose that's a form of impact.
>Should the SnK and SAO shitstorms be mentioned?
They didn't really cause shitstorms. Everyone hated SAO, and SnK is in whatever weird position it's in now since it was popular and liked on /a/ well before it got popular outside of /a/.
SnK didn't really have that much of an effect on the board. Some liked it, some hated it, it didn't bring much trolling in particular.
The SAO II announcement should be mentioned as pissing off /a/ in the last hours on 2013.
There wasn't really a storm of shit, just a steady stream for SnK
SAO is getting another season?
Hold me, anon. I fear I may pass out from rage.
I was only vaguely following the /q/ shenanigans and know it was involved in N/a/ruto because people kept bitching about Naruto on /a/, but was there anything else that happened?
I'm going to need to be filled in on this one too. I miss the nuttiest shit when I leave /a/ to work on my backlog.
We don't talk about that week.
Moot insulted /jp/ when asked about which board he liked least during the 4chan panel.
I keep forgetting that Katawa Shoujo was relatively recent.
It feels like it all happened half a decade ago.
Suisei no Gargantia's SENMETSU vs. understanding shitstorm.
Even less than /mlp/?
Speaking of which, was /mlp/ in 2012 or 2011. It's not that /a/ related, but it's significant to 4chan as a whole. There was a time when I could hardly post anywhere without seeing a damn pony.
IIRC there have been 2000 threads on /vg/ since then. 2000 threads about a cripple fucking simulator.
I was one of the /a/nons who stuck up for /a/ on /q/. Every day there were threads trying to do horrible things. To most, the threads made there requesting a limit on /a/'s self moderation or requesting the furthered policing of Naruto threads (at the time it was all to easy to get banned for doubles) would look like the shit it was. Unfortunately, mods who weren't /a/ regulars were in danger of thinking these pleas were valid, so it was a daily struggle of shutting down the increasing number of Naruto threads on /a/ and on /q/. I remember even making a list of /q/ IDs who were prime Naruto enablers. [/blog]
RIP in pieces, /q/ueers
At a live 4chan panel, moot said /jp/ was his new favourite shit board and gave everyone permission to shitpost on it which meant all the /jaypees/ had to take refuge on /a/.
/a/ has never been the same since with it's now daily Kancolle threads.
I looked in on one last week.
It's all waifu circlejerking. I think the only thread on /vg/ that's worse than it is the one for the gay furry fucking simulator.
oh yeeeeaaah, there was that time where people made nonstop shoops of bikini Ryuko
He's joking, moot said it was his favorite
Please don't forget about the Rebellion or Evangelion 3.33 shitstorms.
During the 4chan anniversary Moot answered to the question of: which is your favorite board? He said /jp/ because it was fun or something ''/jp/ it's like a weaponized /a/'', ''It's the new /b/ you should check it out'' and /jp/ got spammed with almost every board for like half an hour or so.
>but was there anything else that happened?
90% of the threads on /q/ were bitching about /a/'s harsh treatment of newcomers, recommendation threads, and Naruto made by people who can't bother to check the archive or lurk for five minutes and others who wanted to watch /a/ burn. I think it ended with the identity of a mod being exposed, longer post cooldowns (which by the way, fuck you moot for fixing /co/'s for storytimes but not /a/'s) and sage being invisible.
moot creating /q/ is almost as bad as creating /mlp/ and removing /l/.
Why did they even make Endless Eight? I just finished Haruhi, and what would be a good anime similar to it? I am thinking of watching K-on!
>moot creating /q/ is almost as bad as creating /mlp/ and removing /l/.
What even was the last good thing moot did for /a/? Everything I can think of from the last few years has just made it worse.
You should include either
a) the day Zessica won da aqualion
b) the day /a/ mourned the loss of big bangs and imploded of rage
He did that just so it would get shit on. moot hates /jp/ because they're the only board that seriously tells him to fuck off when he posts with his capcode.
Oh god, I totally forgot about that WOOF WOOF ending.
c) It was a fucking dog all along
It's a valid option too.
I thought WOOF WOOF was just regular Aqualion.
I didn't watch the end of Aqualion and avoided Evol.
Evol went full WOOF WOOF
I wish I was as wise as you, anon.
>2000 threads about a cripple fucking simulator.
It would make sense if the "cripple fucking simulator" had more on the way in some shape or form.
As far as I know, it doesn't, right? So... why?
It's nothing but waifus and blogging now. Like watching a corpse rot.
>That Gatch post
Good memories man.
It was huge when it was posted the first time here.
i wish this was an actual board.
also seconding the new years Jibun wo deal he did when he got drunk.
>SZS's mindfuck ending
Good fucking times. At one point when they started with the song clues and the seven year gag I just started cackling like a maniac and couldn't stop for like an hour. Definitively deserves a spot.
Fuck off.. Shit like that goes to all those epic epic epic pages and attract retards. See /v/ and /b/ for example.
It will surely go down in infamy.
Akame was a 2012 thing.
I've seen this a lot and only now know what it stands for.
The New Year thread for Molester Man was pretty fucking excellent.
Glad this only lasted a week.
I asked myself recently why we didn't have anything like that for 2013.
But I do remember more than one for the year 2012, does anyone have something?
Is there a 2014 one yet?
>Erika licking Miho in Ai Mai Mi style
Is that a reference to both? Didn't know Ai Mai Mi was so significant, much as I loved it.
We are just two months into 2014
2014 has only barely started, mang.
I don't recall seeing one, but if it's there then I'm fine with just doing 2013.
anon, what could have possibly happened worth remembering
Ghost Banri ruining things
The Year of Yuri?
What prominent tripfas started this year?
this motherfucking bitch...
Nobody gives a shit about yuricancer though.
Are there any other annual summaries like this out there? I've only been on /a/ for 8 months and want to act like an semioldfag.
3x3 threads spammed maybe?
There are ones made for 2010 and 2011. They were created by King of Gets, one of the most cancerous /a/nons ever.
Didnt siztra and bear?
Don't forget the Satsuki's ass vs Ryuko's tits
Kino's Author died.
>The birth and demise of the /q/rusaders
This shit is related.
That shitstrom when trolls keep spamming naruto thread with mod backup.
Is that why I keep seeing that shit all the time?
I don't hate 3x3 threads, I just can't stand seeing them constantly.
People with taste do. Sad to hear you aren't one of those.
OreImo ending and ensuing shitstorm.
Massive and endless butthurt over NNB being /a/'s AOTY.
>that one Hidamari thread in the corner
What is the fucking story behind Tada Banri? Why is he so beloved? Why is he leaking into other threads?
What a shitstorm OreImo was.
I didn't even follow it and I knew about the ending, holy shit.
It's just a really catchy name and they say his full name in the show an unusual amount of times for a full name. That's all there is to it.
/q/ got nuked, though.
Fuck, I'm on the episode where at the end he takes over Tada's body.
Is it really that bad?
I want Koko to win so much.
Unless Koko goes through some SERIOUS character development she pretty much has to win as she needs Tada because he's the only person who will put up with her bullshit.
Her name is Koko and she is loco.
Ya but there is still a lot of the source material left so anything can happen.
Yep, and Tada's beta as fuck, so crazy is the only flavor of a girl that hot he'll ever hope to obtain. They're perfect for each other.
13/08/13- The day /a/ died. Never forget
Unlimited Free Threads
/v/ermin pouring in due to KlK and SnK
And I said "Oh no." or something.
You say goodbye and I say hello.
I'd say Molester Man for 2012 New Year's Eve.
That shit was excellent.
In no particular order:
Squealer's "I AM HUMAN"
Aku no Hana Ep. 1
Kyoani announces Free
Asuka wins again
Smile-kun posting his interviews
/a/ turns the Bible into an anime
Any update OP?
I think I've got a more cohesive idea of the 2013 chart, but I have class butt-ass early in the morning so I'm going to head to bed soon and probably won't shoop together anything until tomorrow.
I'll keep the thread tab open, so if you have any more suggestions, I'll look at them in the morning.
It was a good year for partying.
Too bad DxD didn't have an ED as sweet as S1 to contribute to it.
Add the Samurai Flamenco shitstorm.
I want to live
Nakamura (Lain director) and Yamaguchi (Zero no Tsukaima author) deaths should be part of an event for 2013, unless there are more deaths that I'm missing.
now I'm sad
You should host more threads along the week or something so we can have a better consensus on events and a possible hierarchy.
I don't think a top ten list necessarily has to be based on a hierarchy. It could be just a list of ten moments that defined /a/ that year.
Anyone else remember the strict mod that banned Loli threads?
Yeah I guess not, I did mention it was a possibility.
Also, 100 million get Jeanne maybe
That was a fun thread
Don't forget justices death in akame ga kill. Chesleas for the 2012 one.
Aku no hana
Little Witches Academia
Kill la Kill for better or for worse
That's all I can think of of the top of my head
The truth will come in episode 26.
Glad it includes Tada Banri, we must thank that wonderful anon for such a gift.
Remember judgment day here on /a/?
