What manga has ceased translations and left you in despair?
Yeah, I read it completely on the internet, but I want to add it to my physical collection in my mother language.
The lower third of my reading list I'm sure.
the large holes in Grappler Baki give me ulcers thinking about and keep me up at night.
none, since i can read moonrunes
Qwan. tokyopop is dead and noone will translate, so my collection (of which i have 4 of 7 will never be completed)
I was wondering why I couldn't remember finishing this series
> v.7 c.44-45 by Manga-Sketchbook (1958d ago)
> v.1-6 by Manga-Sketchbook (2655d ago)
> 10 Volumes (Complete)
Keep dreaming. That series probably has kanji that are a few levels higher than the translators that we have here.
I just borrowed the last volumes of DMC from the library. There are now scans for Shonan Junai Gumi, although they haven't been cropped or anything.
Where's Aegis? I thought Jesus was pretty average in comparison.
It's being translated, very slowly.
I would say Kamisama Dolls, but CXC remembered about it after a whole year without scans.
So, Okusan and Koukou Kyuuji Zawa-san.
> Where's Aegis?
In the main reading list.
> v.6 c.55 by X-Posed Scanlations (186d ago)
> v.6 c.54 by X-Posed Scanlations (213d ago)
> v.6 c.53 by X-Posed Scanlations (378d ago)
Right, time to move it to "suffering" list.
Well... not despair but Sidonia no Kishi.
Wa ga Na wa Umishi
Kago Shintaro and Dowman Sayman's untranslated works.
Love So Life.
It's pathetic, lovey-dovey shit, but I can't help it.
And I know for a fact that it's like 10-20 chapters behind or something ridiculous like that.
Reminds me of Tokkyuu.
More Tokkyuu would have been good.
Sangatsu no Lion, Jinja no Susume, My Father's Almanac.
Sentou Jousai Masurawo
Fuck, this thread is endless.
Get on my level, there arent even raws despite this godtier trailer for the manga.
Kiriha is best girl
Just read volume 4 of that physically. Now I just need the last volume.
That sense of dissonance when you look at your list and see a title not updated in 5 years while you remember reading it like it was was yesterday.
Not stopped translations but the curse on Kaze to Ki no Uta hurts.
It's taken 8 years and 5 groups just to get to volume 7, everyone who works on it dies/disappears.
I got raws in about an hour ago. I should get a chapter or two out in a week or so.
I know who you are and I appreciate you.
>wow, they made an animated trailer to advertise a manga?
>it's already on my translation wishlist
How long has it been there? How did I learn about it? My list haunts me.
>Banana no Nana
Doesn't Afternoon get scanned?
I was going to say Ika Musume, but by the gods some anons cobbled together some chapters.
I got news for you anon…
>v.2 c.7 by Village Idiot & Black Rock Scans (7d ago)
>v.2 c.6 by Village Idiot (30d ago)
>v.1 c.5 by Black Rock Scans (801d ago)
90% of the manga I try to add my to "Read Eventually" list are already there.
It confuses the shit out of me because I usually just spent a couple minutes trying to find the source.
Oh shit. Thanks anon and Village Idiot.
My anonymity has been compromised. I should probably get off of /a/.
..and stop getting distracted from chapter twenty four.
>"Read Eventually" list
I have long since split it into three:
Untranslated (Total: 124)
Ongoing (Total: 119)
Complete (Total: 145)
Makes picking new series to read less depressing.
I don't know who you are but I still appreciate you for this.
My lists are:
>Ongoing reading list
My translations wishlist has over 500 works, but to be fair Tezuka takes up a good chunk of it.
I usually just bookmark the author somewhere instead.
That'll probably be a higher priority than Momoiro Meloik because there isn't nearly as much to do. Either way I've gotten get through the last four chapters of my current project first.
Devilman G, aka the best Devilman spinoff that never got a translation past ch1.
Yes, but last time I checked there was only ch 4 scanned.
I think the trailer got posted in the season threads like 4 months ago.
Imori 201 translation never.
Are you kidding? There's a guy posting every Friday(?) for new chapters now.
Gotta love it when nobody updates MU.
This is some great news, I literally picked out one of the hundred titles I got there with over 2 years of no scans.
This is why baka-updates should be more... updated.
Indeed. I hardly even remember picking up the series and it seems that there's quite a few people who somehow ended up following it like I did.
Looks like donating was worth it.
You can't add scans without a group. Which is probably why it isn't there. And quite a few other 4chan things.
It's the job of the scanlator, honestly people are just forgetful, I've seen even big groups like Village Idiot miss an update here and there, only notice I luckily had was when I log onto their IRC.
Oh God, please, somebody please scanlate this.
It more sucks when there's manga that have already licensed in the western but not yet in my country, like Sidonia no Kishi.
It seems the group that work on this manga has been dead since 2010. They also work on some other manga by the same author.
And fuck this too.
I know people forget to update MU, but at least bookmark or RSS Batoto.
Haven't seen an update on Ryuushika Ryuushika for the longest time.
>find good artists/manga
>see it's not translated or is halted halfway
>years later go through bookmarks and check those links
>still not translated
Maybe in a few more years.
Meanwhile the daily list of translated chapters is always 50% some yaoi/shoujo bullshit.
I'd have to do it for several hundred series. It's really a pain.
>You can't add scans without a group
This needs to change, I can't believe how much anon/individual by freelancers chapters got missed because of this.
I filter the yaoi out. I still get lots of shit porn.
/a/non scans is dead. That makes me sad.
It is, but it'll save you trouble in the future. Just use DomDomSoft, or RSS Batoto's "follows" list from your account.
>Stop being poor
What I do in these cases is put those manga that don't get 'updated' on MU in a seperate tab group in Firefox, that way they don't clutter up my bookmarks nor use resources.
There's around 10 of them there at the moment, a lot still probably needed to be added.
And to any scanlator who only upload his releases on Batoto: fuck you with a rake.
When in doubt, just credit it to 4chan.
But you're right, just look at Batoto's "No Group" page.
Only the second part of Baki the Grappler is translated completely. The first part stops at chapter 90 and the last part stops right after a major fight is finished but still 2 story arcs away from the end. If you want to know how the story ends you either need to find the raws or read Wikipedia for a summary.
You could probably find more things in chink than you can in moon sometimes.
Haven't used that in a long long time now. Batoto is still missing a lot of series. Like seriously a lot. The stuff that doesn't have any updates is more likely to be the shit that won't be on Batoto.
>not having DomDomSoft
>wanting to deal with filehosting sites other than Mediafire
Kono S O Mi Yo
It's not even that great but it has one of the most hatable characters i've ever seen in anime/manga and I need to see him get his comeuppance. But alas, the scanlations stopped.
Thanks. I was really surprised that anyone was interested in doing so. I'm probably only going to pick things up out of these kinds of threads, so hopefully the bit of money will make a few people happy.
They stopped people from using that I believe. Mods disallow it now.
>Batoto is still missing a lot of series
It is. Such is the fate of all sites that rely on user contributions.
Who does that other than Utopia Scans? Also, fuck Utopia Scans.
Highschool Planet Prowler
Boggles my mind how people haven't jumped on the opportunity to wrap up an Isutoshi manga.
Then just credit it to any other anonymous group, there are dozens on MangaUpdates.
I just use it because I don't want to RSS several dozen sites for ongoing manga. Launch DDS, autodownloads new chapters in the same resolution.
Files get taken down so much.
Vistrans used to use DF, but they moved to Mega now.
Let it go anon, delusion will not get you anywhere.
>mtw no scans of Kingyozaka Noboru
No, I'm not going to put up with this bullshit.
Pilot chapter was translated but not the series.
They do. Meanwhile the only thing you have to worry about with Batoto is the fujoshi mods banning a slightly lewd series.
For those who don't like binaries here's a wget script for downloading from batoto.
Fucking this. I can't believe a Matusmoto Jiro series about soldiers that pilot giant highschool girl mecha isn't being translated.
Nearly everything Matsumoto is translated. I like him and all, but fucking hell.
You're the best ydwtt.
And oddly enough all his other stuff was translated.
Except Alice, but that's getting translated chapters gradually.
MPD Psycho and InuBaka.
Though there are French translations for mpd.
Tsutomu Nihei is the only mangaka I've seen with 5+ works and all of them are completely scanlated, other than the ongoing obviously.
Anyone ever seen another?
I hated this shit. I don't even know why I bothered reading up to where the scanlations stopped.
Nichijou was being published here, but got cancelled after six volumes because it wasn't selling.
Sure it's on the Internet in English, but I'd have preferred to have physical books.
I liked the plot twists and guessing of who would be the next one with mpd syndrom and how many.
Also, plant in brains.
Adachi has a pretty good record of translation, except for a few older titles.
I always fear that the official Touhou manga have stopped being translated. They have gone without being translated for months before. You'd think people would care about them since people also rush to shit out the first translation patch for the games, but it's literally just 1 guy doing everything manga related right now. It's impossible to check if the latest chapters are translated or not since that guy has no blog. You can't check if Forbidden Scrollery 14 is even being worked on right now.
Is that some province in England?
I would have expected that to be fine. I thought there was a pretty dedicated set of fans since the anime aired.
ginga densetsu weed
Ah, interesting. Didn't know that.
Boys on the run. A girl by the sea.
I can read jap so I've read both but still fucking suffering and despair.
Cradle of Monsters
Latest translated chapter is 39. It finishes at 41. The translation of chapter 39 came out almost a year after the author finished the series. The group just suddenly stopped with 2 fucking chapters left.
A girl by the sea fucking when. Wheeeen.
>finishes at 41
Seriously? I didn't really enjoy that much, but that's just sad.
Tomorrow. I'm going to my comic shop, buy it, read it and put it in a bag.
Anon, go to jcafe
Oh, this >>101591666 too.
I thought it was interesting, I guess I was the only one.
>being this new
None of them have official english translations, and only Girl has raws online.
I had to buy the jap books from amazon because I couldn't wait for dan's translations
>implying I'm english or american
Silly, italian master race reporting in.
FMP! Actually just finished the other day - was waiting for ages
I'm Swedish, as I said there are no official english translations.
I bought the jap books through Amazon, as could you.
Boys on the Run
There is an italian edition of A Girl by the Sea which I can get in 10 minutes after getting out of my house.
Unless you translated it in English, I'll make this showking statement: nobody give a fuck.
Well then I recommend you buy it and read it, it's a great read. Really, really great read.
Harukaze no Snegurochka
Beageruta got one chapter translated, I hope it continues.
The most recently translated Area 88 chapter was released in May 1989. It has been over 9000 days, almost 25 years, since then.
I was speaking of me all along, the fact is that, unless you know japanese, you can't read it while I can. Do you understand this simple truth?
If anyone will pay me the price of the two volumes I could scan and translate them, if I had an income I'd do it for free.
There is one volume untranslated, and that is what, 12 euros? I'm guessing you already spent that on the volume and you're an asshole for demanding money to translate it.
I'm >>101590919 but I don't own a scanner, I have posted translations on /a/ a bunch of times but no one seems interested enough to translate it.(A girl by the sea)
Boys I have in Jap but as I said, I don't own a scanner so I can't post raws.
If anyone provided me with cleaned raws or at least scanned raws I could translate it.
>translate it.(A girl by the sea)
Scanlate it, I mean.
I hate when the scanlating group doesn't know anything about the manga.
I was looking at a mangaupdates page today and it happens to be an author for whom I've bought all of their work. The mangaupdates said '3 volumes' when I only have 2, sending my autism into overdrive thinking if I was missing one volume of that series, I must be missing other volumes from other series.
Several hours of frantic searching later I discover that the scanlator is an idiot.
>someone made a typo
>their an idiot
>you go into an autistic downward spiral for hours
38 volumes translated, there's over 11 and counting untranslated. Its even worse than Berserk in a way, started in the 70's, still on going today. Apparently the author rewrote a couple of volumes because she changed her mind on where the story was heading but I have no way of confirming it myself outside something I've read online.
Ao no Exorcist was hard as shit to find when I dropped around chapter 35 because Zetsubou dropped it.
Nah, it's 7 euros per volume. The problem is I would need to buy two copies because I'd have to debind one. I collect manga, I don't want a fucking debinded copy.
I'm poor as fuck. Litterally. I would use christmas and birthday money to buy it. There's a lot of other stuff I'd like too buy more than a second copy of a manga I already have. Maybe I'll buy it anyway. I just hope that if I'm going to buy and scan it in a week it won't be all for nothing because I'll come second. Anyway is the quality of the scanner important? Because I could only use a scanner in-built in a cheapass HP printer. Not even bothering if it's not worth it.
At least it's translated now. Oh hey, there's a new chapter.
Get it direct from whoever the western translator is. They get it quicker than any scanlator can and have it online.
I have no idea when or why do I have this one bookmarked, considering it seems nobody has scanlated it.
Eh, the cover looks nice, good enough for me.
Umibe No Onnanoko (A Girl By the Sea).
I semi-spoiled myself with the raws but I'm too dumb to learn how to read moon.
>no new Rozen Maiden chapter in almost 3 weeks
We'll never make it to Tale 63 at this rate.
There was that kingdom game or something with the yandere. But I mean she died on the last chapter to get translated so I suppose nothing of value was lost.
Is there anything worst than this?
She died, but not in the last chapter. They met another "kingdom" after that.
Sangatsu no lion, who went to three chapters a year to zero in 2013. But on average, the main issue with manga is the author dropping it/going on a long hiatus.
Dinosaur's bizarre adventures.
That isn't suffering.
Area 88 is a long story,containing some defects(contradictions,inappropriate points from today's view,etc),but it's still interesting.
Ibitsu form Pkada Kazuto who also wrote Sundome.
Was that dropped entirely or is the Mangaka dead? I remember reading like, months ago that it went on Hiatus due to illness, what ever came of that?
It resumed in October
It went off hiatus. I know that at least.
Also this one is just slow.
Not counting the ones that have already been mentioned:
-Fantasista (not sure about the group that did 134)
Stuff that's ridiculously inconsistent:
-Gunka no Baltzer
All from the top of my head, probably tons more if I bothered going through my back log and book marks.
Sports fag you forgot Giant Killing under ridiculously inconsistent.
Umibe no Onnanoko, but it had a new chapter a few days ago, so... let's see if it becomes regular again.
Aside from it, Sket Dance. It's been almost three months, damnit.
Does not even started count?
Looks like I might enjoy it.
>yet another addition to the "translate maybe" list
Don't get someone else's hopes up like that. That's mean.
Baggataway is by far the most undeserving series to not be scanlated.
Just look at the fucking quality of the moe. How can /a/ not pick this shit up?
I'm sorry. I will spend the next three weeks doing nothing but reflecting on my actions.
fuck, I thought I was the only one who knew this feeling.
>group focuses all their energy on fucking webtoons
>still release chapters of everything just enough so no one thinks they've dropped it
Well if chapters are coming out I guess I can't complain but the wait is killing me.
ABOUT THAT MANGA...
Why should it matter? Tons of sports series are picked up.
It's fucking high quality moe drawings that's a cut above even Saki, and that's about MJ.
Cool shit. Looks even better.
I have absolutely nothing against EGscans, I know they are working damn hard, and I respect whatever they choose to focus on.
Plus, as far as I could tell from their project schedule, they were missing either a translator or a editor for months before someone filled it in.
Still sucks ass though that groups don't pick this stuff up but whatever.
If only manga had some Turnip Farmers to tend to them.
Well okay. If you like that it's the whole manga.
Cruelty and cute girls. Often happening at the same time. And as of the last two volumes, yuri that ends in violence.
Yeah, they're actually a pretty amazing group. Definitely way better than the groups that drop things left and right. And Jin isn't something that the average group would even pick up in the first place.
And yeah, those guys are based as fuck. I wish that more groups would concentrate their efforts on less series at once.
Wa Ga Na Wa Umishi: Salvagers trying to work off a massive debt get drawn into all sorts of hijinks while the protagonist, a former Coast Guard Officer, deals with learning the trade, paying off the debt, and dealing with love.
I've often considered restarting the translation myself, but first I'd need to find the raws and devote time to it when I'm already working on Idolm@ster and light novels.
If anyone knows a good raw aggregator, please let me know.
But why hurt cute little girls
That's just dumb
Does this count?
The pacing of the last 5 chapters seems to suggest it was gonna end soon,so it really hurts this gets no translations
>This will never happen to a manga you read
The second greatest ENF in the entire world
I know but what can you do?
Also, Drops of God. Series was being translated okay, not great, but it was really interesting. Then Vertical licensed the series for English publication, and they stop. Then Vertical stops release the series at volume 4, releases an extra volume that skips 200 chapters of story to a point that features American wines and Napa Valley, and that was 2012. Nothing else, because Vertical has a licensing agreement where they have to meet a quota of prior volumes sold before the Japanese publisher lets them work on the enxt volume. It's the Koihime Musou Voice Patch all over again, only nobody will pick the series up.
As far as I can tell, they just completely stopped.
I wish I knew how to read and speak moon.
And finally, Knights of Sidonia. Apparently the volume 11 and up raws are so shitty that /a/m/'s join translation group gave up on it, and it'll be awhile before Vertical reaches volume 11, assuming they do. And Vertical's typesetting is rather shitty.
>go to batoto page to download a picture

BLESS YOU /a/
To think that we live in a world where people don't want to translate stories about Loli cat-girls and their supernatural friends.
Why isn't anyone scanlating this Jungle One Piece manga?
DMC already has official release by Viz. There's even a digital copy available.
I'll cut you.
There are only 11 volumes right now aren't there? It's almost caught up
And since nobody cares about it I guess it'll reach 10 years.
A better question is why aren't they rereleasing Gash Bell?
Really? Where I was reading it, it hadn't been updated in over a month
The World is Mine
>tfw being a Hideki Arai fan
I'm just going off of manga updates. It has a chapter listed 17 and 19 days ago.
>being in a manga scanlation thread
>not knowing baka-updates
Japanzai doesn't allow rehosting.
Nyan Koi. Author catches the Japanese Cold, series dies for a year, comes back for one chapter and nothing else ever gets scanlated.
I forgot all about this. Hope it gets translated soon.
At least Kiichi is being done.
>Jungle One Piece
is this any good??
Also pic related.
Another group picked it up.
Didn't know that, just know that the /m/ translator said the raws were unreadable.
spics are ahead of like 4 chapteres
Does anyone have the raws/know where I can find them? There are 8 volumes left, from what I remember.
I'm so thankful that's being worked on again.
But seriously, Hideki Arai is one of the most underappreciated authors out there.
Ashita no Joe, but I haven't started reading it yet. I just want to read some of the big names from the 60s and 70s.
Simple google gives these. Who knows if they're all dead or not.
Hox released some more last Saturday
A new 100+ page chapter just came out the other day.
It's slow but it's being scanned by Hox. I think they're at volume 13/20.
>Ashita no Joe
So you didn't hear Hox's declaration to finish it this year? He just released some as well.
There's lots of stuff you could be reading from the 60s and 70s. Notably Tezuka, Tatsumi and all that jazz.
Katte ni Kaizou
The later chapters are much funnier than the beginning of the series.
Does it have a twist ending
Damn, I had no idea Hotfile had been taken down.
>last update: Jan 19, 2014
this is suffering
What did happen to M-S anyways? They did lots of cool series.
Really? Whoa, that's pretty awesome news. I thought he just stopped around 100.
I'm also interested in checking out some Nagai stuff like Devilman and Mazinger Z. Maybe Ace wo Nerae! and Otokogumi as well (though the latter doesn't seem to be fully scanlated). I want to go back to the source of genres, what made them popular.
>User who uploaded these files requires premium to download
Damn them then.
I'm a translator, but I often have trouble finding a series that I like enough to put in the effort to translate (and that is not already being translated by someone else). So a lot of the time I'm idle.
I'm sad his boxing manga will never be translated.
If you didn't find a link, the ul.to one works.
I'm wondering about that too. I can't go to their website as my browser is preventing me.
Sugar and RIN? I flipped through the raws a couple years ago. They're pretty awesome.
Yuusen Shoujo. It got a couple of chapters recently but as far as i know the group still don't have a permanent translator for it.
What kind of series do you like?
I feel like if I knew how to translate I'd waste so much time trying to pick up a whole bunch of stuff that I would end up disliking eventually. I guess that's why so many series are started and then abruptly dropped.
>Jungle One Piece
The giant dog scene was a blatant Hunter x Hunter reference.
Better to be idle often and work enthusiastically when you have something rather than always be half assing things.
Thanks for the help, I've started downloading raws. I'll try and find time for it, hopefully translate something by March.
>v.3 (end) by HappyScans! & Gantz_Waitingroom (0d ago)
>v.2 by Offtopia (711d ago)
Well GWR is working at least. Captain Harlock is pretty classic.
Wasn't someone going to start translating moyashimon? Was I dreaming?
GWR did one volume of Moyashimon not that long ago but that was a one off.
Addicted to Curry ;_;
ALL THE SCIENCE KANJI
Scares everyone off.
I thought that was completed? I just added it to my follows on Batoto after reading through Nobunaga no Chef, Shokugeki no Souma, and Hell's Kitchen.
I wish someone would scanlate this manga. I loved the movie. Can't believe it was 11 years ago oh wow.
Isn't HappyScans working on it?
There are 37+ out the of 49 volumes left and the group that was doing it hasn't touched it in 6 months.
Really? I had no idea
Thanks for the info
>c.6 by Suimasen Scans (238d ago)
Tora gura I think it was called
Shinbashi no Miko
Sensen Spike Hills
But the one I want most of all is
I would pay money for this instantly why? Because it's been on my mind for years and no raws of it exist.
However much a volume cost in American and a little extra for the hardwork.
Hunter x Hunter. They haven't translated a chapter in 2 years wtf...
At least SCS is helping them out on Gunka and those guys already have their hands full with stuff like Nobunaga/Afterschool/etc and just recently finished Shion.
Uchuu Kyoudai is being released on Crunchyroll, and so nobody will scanlate it. And Crunchyroll charges $15/month for access to it.
Very funny and very interesting
Inherit the Stars
That's new, thanks for that.
I checked last week after realizing the anime was far ahead of the manga and that torrent wasn't up.
Isn't Red Hawk doing Tail Stars?
Thank you based anon.
dude you can find the whole thing online, I did. I think mangafox may have them, if not, I know some sites do, so just keep looking.
They dropped it apparently
No you didn't.
All of New Grappler Baki was done, but not the other series.
The Star Ocean mangas (specifically The Far Side of Time and the TTEOT ones.) I need more Star Ocean in my life.
Huh. Kind of surprised considering how much of a hit it was. But then, I don't care for the series myself so I'm not affected either way.
Time to start re-typesetting and re-translating it so it can be posted on Batoto.
I see unedited scans for up to v21.
Golden Boy, for some god awful reason
You can actually rip it without the bubble text sometimes. But it's not very consistent.
It's masochism, but I want to see it over.
Genuinely upset this went into hiatus.
>Jan 21 2014 As for Qualia, here things do get a bit more complicated. I can’t translate, and unlike Adachi stuff, Qualia’s text is on a whole different level. It’s not just anyone that can grab a series like that and deliver a quality translation, and seeing as both of our translators for the series are pretty much not doing anywork for an indefinite amount of time, I just can’t tell what’s going to happen to it. It’s not “dropped”, but I’m not going to lie — think of it as being stalled, at the very least. Seeing as releasing a low quality translation isn’t an option for us, unless someone qualified shows up and is willing to finish the series, I can’t comment on when/whether more Qualia will happen.
GOD DAMMIT GHOST BANRI IS THERE NOTHING YOU WON'T DEFILE? IS NOTHING SACRED?
There really should be more more torrents for raw manga. The collection on Nyaa is pitiful.
And funnily enough there's no drama with the new group.
Guys thanks to this thread i decided to buy the WHOLE 26 Love Junkies.
I could easily translate it if anyone still interested in the series.
IN all fairness, Japanzai's pace is terrible.
Thank god the manga I do like every once in a solstice isn't here.
Zero In, I've been trying to contact our resident translationfag to help me with it to no avail.
Pic related is Hyakuen, although EVERY single of Tooyama's works is partially translated and dropped.
And the worst part is, you can't even find tank scans for most of them, just chink translations.
Wait, I thought the newer chapters are free to view?
does manga updates have any way to import list from MAL
does it have any advantage over MAL or is it just /a/ being elitist over MAL's shit community?
What happened to D Gray-man?
Generally speaking MAL doesn't include doujin. And in my experience, MAL's isn't as comprehensive either. Often a manga isn't listen on MAL if it's not translated (i.e obscure), like Imai Kami's works for instance which MAL only shows Needless and Shira suna.
Mangaupdates is THE place for manga/doujins.
Retarded malshits like you can just fuck off.
ah. There was some shit over "hurr we dont do unpublished shit" too, which frustrated me so I was looking for another place to grab list anyway. I check MU almost daily anyway.
is there note/tag function so I can put something to remind myself what it was?
whoa calm down.
it fine, really. just don't scan in 300dpi jpg and you will done good job.
Like Boku Girl? Like Idol Pretender? Like Megu Miruku?
Here something more cute than those, too bad, last chapter is at 2011
>Original group dropped off the face of the earth
>Picked up by a group that specializes in dropped manga
>Dropped yet again
>is there note/tag function
Not sure, never really tried to find out since I just use the most basic of functions: I just want a list that's all.
damn it has new chapter function too. Thats insanely useful
I guess I can just click on the series to read through synopsis if I want to. Shame about that though.
and it's never going to happen
I really want to read it, but then again I don't think anyone would want to take a crack at 1800+ chapters of backlog
I never thought I'll actually say this but I wish that CR would hurry and get on with Soremachi from where JManga left off, since they're already planning to pick that up. The current group that picked up Soremachi is downright shit that CR is in fact the better choice.
There isn't any import function for MU list....
fuck transferring is going to take forever
seriously fuck you i hope you die
I wanted to forget about that series
>try to add anonymous releases to MangaUpdates under "4chan" since they get posted here first
>rejected, even though they're legitimate scanlations
Why is MU so shit? Even Batoto has a "No Group" section.
To be fair, there's no point updating if people don't know where to find them from.
But that was before the whole DMCA/ link takedown bullshit so yeah, right now they should actually allow anonymous releases since the old rationale is now moot.
Naisho no Tsubomi
I think I might know the reason why they dropped it. They're probably waiting for tank raws, and there hasn't been a single update for that series for a year now.
I usually include "IT'S ON BATOTO" when trying to update it. The masses check online readers anyway.
>Tonnura-san already finished months ago
>Foolz only updating every 3-6 months
How slow can one group be, seriously.
Just argued their mod then
You can use archive to track the release here
Mods are shit. We're all just waiting for a better alternative.
>Completely Scanlated? No
>v.1 c.2 by Iskultrip Scans (599d ago)
>v.1 c.1 by Iskultrip Scans (739d ago)
True suffering is knowing that game will never get localized. Fuck sega.
You mean on /a/? That seems like an awfully backward and inefficient method. Besides, the point still stands that it's something easy for MU to settle but they won't. I mean, it defeats the purpose of existing.
It has a bulk add facility. You just need the series name each on their own line.
They got paid off by Crunchyroll anyway, complaining about MU policies is pissing in the wind.
Everyone wants a superior clone, but no one wants to make one.
Go make a scanlation thread for this.
Not even HMK + Nerieru Scans + Turnip Farmers + Hox + EGScans could survive that shit. They would break down at 800 chapters max.
But have no fear, Waterpanda and Captain Blackbird can save the day!
How do I have to scan a volume?
Jpeg for colour, png for black and white?
All at 300 dpi?
Someone help (if you want to read A Girl by the Sea).
I can't find anymore chapters of Violence Jack
Colour pages are usually converted later. 300 dpi is like minimum these days.
Read something more old than 10 years, faggot, no one translates that, or even scan it.
Can anyone confirm this?
Only the latest chapter is free.
FUCK THE JEWS SERIOUSLY
So what should I do? I need the settings to make a decent scan.
I read Boku wa Mari but then I tried to reread it, the last chapter, and I couldn't access it.
Myabe you can read it for a limited amount of time?
I can still read chapter 24 fine. Not that I'd want to read anything using that terrible reader when ripping the pages is easy enough.
And while it's free, it's fairly easy to rip. You could even get a trial and rip all the manga if you wanted.
There was another untranslated manga thread where I posted raws of it and one anon that specialized in chemistry shit said he'd translate it the next day.
He never delivered. ;_;
Oh, right. I checked last week and it didn't let me read chapter 23, eventhough chapter 24 was not out yet.
Does someone have a good scanning infographic or link to a guide?
He just wanted attention.
I reiterate it:
I need a guide to scanning manga.
>I need a guide to scanning manga
2. Set scanner to 600dpi
3. Place page on scanner
4. Repeat until every page is scanned
That's like saying:
1.Become an astronaut
2.Go to Mars
Let me guess, you teach at elementary school, right?
No seriously have you never scanned anything before? I
Apart for my ID with propietary HP software? No.
Easy to rip in what way? screenshot everything?
Not really topic related, but I went on senmanga to check some raws and there are raws of first 6 chapters of manga titled Kiss-My-Ass
Really, it isn't hard. Google could find you such a guide, but whatever.
Cut the pages or melt the glue and pull them out.
Place them on some scanner. Put something dark, like a black sheet of paper, on top so that the back page doesn't bleed through. 600dpi seems to be the commonly recommended resolution.
Beyond that, you've just gotta clean, translate, and typeset, but you didn't ask about those.
Download the "encrypted" images, xor every byte with 0x42 and you're done.
Since I don't speak moon I don't know why main girl is fascinated with MC's ass
Based on reading that topic, I wonder if we couldn't get a way by just throwing up a "4chan scans" page on some random website.
Will someone ever finish Otogi no Machi no Rena? There's something like six or five chapters left untranslated.
Forgive my stupid self.
I have no idea what the fuck, I kinda want to do it myself now since crunchymanga are screecapping and cropping the images at shit resolution.
So to download them:
Do I need trial? or can I rip them from the online reader? how do you even download them, in the script I can only find the reference to the flash player plug in but not the chapter itself.
Find the series ID from http://api-manga.crunchyroll.com/series
Find the chapter ID from http://api-manga.crunchyroll.com/chapters?series_id=173
Find the URLs for the encrypted pages from http://api-manga.crunchyroll.com/chapter?chapter_id=2613
Well, there is a 4chan page that has releases. It's just up to the whims of the shitty mods.
Oh wow, I totally forgot about that series.
so for wagatsuma:
did you write a script for the decryption? or you just know this is how it's done with them in general?
We need this finished, even though some nice nippon-fags gave us the summary of the last chapters when it was dumped a month ago.
Now that I think about it, Random Ika did that exact same thing for Ika Musume. That might not be a bad idea.
That should be a topic in the next scanlation thread. MU mods probably hate 4chan or something.
Yes, I wrote a script that takes in the chapter ID and then downloads and decrypts all the pages.
IDC. The art is horrible.
What about a wiki site or one of those free forums?
That way, anyone who happen to have some solo stuffs can easily edit/add the chapter download link (in the case of a wiki) or easily create an account and post the link (in the case of a forum).
Sorry, I'm very much ignorant on this kind of things.
I only know Fortran (from a physics course) lel.
Maybe I should write a script to learn something else.
Gah I just got caught up with that. Fuck this cliche shit and retarded shounen MC. I actually liked it at first.
Yes, I wrote it in Python but it shouldn't be too hard with any scripting language.
So should I save the black and white scans as jpegs and not as png, right?
You mean raw scan? yes first as jpg, png only later after you cleaned them.
Why not just keep everything as lossless as possible until the final release?
Kinnikuman Nisei. Not fully translated and the anime isn't fully subbed. Whats worse is its gonna stay that way because I appear to be the only fan of this series anymore.
I'm not going to do any other job, I'll leave that to competent people. I'm going to post the raws, or a link with them, and translate them in the thread.
At least this is the plan.
Why not watch the dub if it's not completely subbed. If you are a fan of it that is, you wouldn't mind the language, as long as you get to watch it and understand it
End result? Depends on quality, filtering and art style (monochrome takes less space than gradients when using png, so for some manga it may be as effective as jpg)
Why would you ever do lossy->lossless? Is temporary file size that important to you?
because any cleaner who's not a gigantic fucking moron can clean the artifacts off of large scans.
We'd just need a front site that gets updated with the releases to look legit. They can just email the guy who runs it, and they can update MU themselves.
But why would you want to add those artifacts in the first place? Unless you have a very limited internet connection.
IT WILL TURN OUT THE EXACT SAME FUCKING WAY after it's cleaned, whether you scanned it as a PNG or as JPG. There's literally no fucking reason to have it scanned as PNG
If by cleaning you mean overfiltering the shit out of all the details, than yes, jpg artifacts will be gone too.
Except you don't need to overfilter at all if the scans are not tiny.
jpg is alright for raws since raws have a lot of noise or have more contrast that png can handle for a reasonable compression, no need for png... cleaning get's rid of noise and set's the contrast right anyway.
Then the whole scanlation will take place in a single .psd to not compress again and again, and only the output, final page, will be in png 8-bit indexed black and white, 16-32 colours (depending on the contrast and shading).
yes it is... since you share the files between people working on the series, filesize is important. For downloads, for storage, and simply because scanning to jpg represents no quality loss, and after cleaning and typesetting saving to png is as trivial as having a hotkey to do what I described in the first answer
I scan mah raws at 450 dpi, at that point none of the artifacts matter, so jpg it is.
The problem is the dub is 4kids, the voice acting is actually surprisingly good and for a dub its not the worst (probably the best 4kids dub ever made) but the censorship is fucking terrible and completely ruins the fight scenes
How about this one for maximum suffering.
Manga series stopped at 2 volumes and was basically dropped. Was pretty interesting though.
Onodera Goushi is a high-schooler who isn't much noticed in other people's daily life. In a sense, his life feels like it would be the same if he wasn't around. Then one day while returning from school, he finds himself in a life and death situation where a strange girl named Honoka saves him by sending him to another world. He then gets sent to the "Demon Nation" where many non-humans live and where he is able to meet the Ma-Ou (Demon King) who is... an anime otaku?!?!
Sounds like gerderbent Blood Lad.
Any translator here who would like a hand? I can do pretty much everything else.
I could make a site on one of those portals like forumcommunity.net
It wouldn't be hard, and MU would probably accept it, if there's no other solution.
Problem is I don't have a lot of series saved that were translated from /a/, and I don't know what to put there. If someone wants to help just send me an e-mail.
I think Shoujo Manga Maniac's still doing it, but just really slowly though.
Once you have the site running, mention it when a scanlator thread comes up. Or if you come by any other things done on /a/ that aren't by any group like those Valvrave spin off manga for example.
Ah, I already made a quick frontend site.
just call it something like 4chan scanlation archive and collect the translated images and release them in a zip. That should suffice as an offial group where people can get all the releases by visiting the site.
MU hates 4chan apparently so no.
That's because you're doing it wrong. In order to be recognized as group you need to have a site where your releases are. 4chan doesn't have that, because it's just a imageboard, so it doesn't qualify as a group.
A release is only legit if the MU mods can find it on your site/irc/whatever.
It's a crapshot. Depends on which mod, it seems.
It is, so we just avoid the whole issue altogether a la random-ika scans.
Just call it Nemo Scans or some other pretentious bullshit.
Yeah agreed. Personally, I think a wiki type of site works best. That way anyone can help to contribute with the links.
I want to see this translated.
So do I, anon. So do I.
All right, there we go. Make a cheap Wikia, advertise it to anonymous groups so their releases get posted on MU.
do slowass translation count too?
Here you go.
Should I start posting everything from Batoto's No Group page?
The funny this is that there are quite a few groups that managed to slip under the radar and got accepted into MU despite not having anything other than a name.
Collect the images, pack them in a zip, upload them somewhere and then make a page on the wiki like "Manga_XYZ c123"
DomDomSoft + save to Mediafire desktop folder will do that. I don't know if there's a way to RSS a group in that program though.
Well, it doesn't matter for older releases for now anyway. Just concentrate on future stuff and advertise the wiki when you see an anon translating something here.
Basically Goushi is a history buff and he uses his knowledge of history to lead the demon nation that is under threat from the human nation. Apparently all the demon lords have been humans that were dumped in that world.
I can't be here 24/24 so I hope people will advertise this too.
I'll start with the old stuff right away, just let me download DomDomSoft.
Was about to say Bowling King but just seen that they released a chapter last week after 2 years of nothing
I'll try to post the site if I see a scanlator thread up.
>series picked up by some twats in the UK
>constant misspellings everywhere it's like they don't even check their draft
>5x as slow as the Mexican scanlators, at least four volumes behind them
>TN : Opai-san means little brother
>every first 12 pages of every chapter is them advertising for their shitty group and using edited pages of OTHER MANGA as in-jokes for the group
>"we're recruiting translators!" every page
>everyone else refuses to pick it up because these faggots already "called it" and it'd be rude or some artistic horse-shit
>"If you don't like it why don't you just learn to speak Japanese then?"
Instead I learned Spanish just so I could read the competent scanlations.
Those Mexicans really know how to do it right.
Freemangadownloader seems to be a DDS clone, if it doesn't work for you.
I think we'd only need a few posts with download links, to come off as an actual group. After that, we can just release updates and tell them to go to Batoto/KissManga and use DDS or FMD.
>every first 12 pages of every chapter is them advertising for their shitty group and using edited pages of OTHER MANGA as in-jokes for the group
>blank page with just the manga's title in the bottom corner
>blank page with character's face in the corner
>edited page from another manga talking about how they need more scanners/translators/typesetters
>fanart not related to the manga in any way with the group's name badly photoshopped onto it in some gay font
>same exact fanart but now in inverted colors
>credits for the manga
>actual manga starts
You missed the
>Group colors in a random important scene themselves in a shitty fashion
>you get to knowing the exact amount of bullshit pages are in and just skip it
>do this on the one time they don't pull that bullshit
>it spoils a major part of the story that was suppose to have a lead up to it
Is something like this alright?
Can you imagine how the artists must feel knowing their work is being defiled like that?
Maybe adding a page for the series and linking the chapter page there?
Looks fine. You'll need to make a Twitter or something since MU doesn't allow the scanlator sites any more.
Can you use 2 Twitter accounts at the same time?
You still need to add the site info when adding a group to MU. it's just that that information never reaches the frontend
Just make a dummy one and then never use it.
Here you go.
Get it approved on MU and it's set.
I'll work on a custom RSS feed to make this shit easier.
sket dance, the raw already came in like months ago
and i almost thought sankarea is finished
I had a dream today, when I randomly remembered that one thread where everybody was wondering about making a nyaa-like site for manga and replacing MU because they deleted links
>A program that checks scanlator's pages for downloads and returns a link or even downloads automatically
>DECoMORI :Downloading Externally, Counting & Manga Overviewing Really Intelligently
>Basically server checks every hour all sites on it's list, and then when someone wants a chapter, it returns a link
>Mangas are grouped on shards depending on the audience
>Shards are called by default after flowers: lilly for yuri, forget-me-not for shoujo, etc.
>Everything on do-whatever-the-fuck-you-want license and encourages making loads of smaller trackers instead of few big ones
>Easy to set up for yourself, just "download it, install on a server, give it a list and it works" so it's not the end of the world if even a bunch is taken down
>A way to set a filenaming format for every group, and then normalising it on the shard itself to make listing easier
Someone please do it, I don't have time nor programming skills for it.
Just submitted it.
I'll continue to upload stuff. If anyone wants to help, please tell me so I know what not to upload.
I'm not sure you should add every single "no group" release, they're not always anons, and are sometime scan from licensed volumes (like those +Anima), which are not accepted by MU.
I have no idea which ones are from /a/.
I just thought that if something wasn't ok I could just delete it.
I was checking this list >>101623740 and I saw this manga http://www.batoto.net/comic/_/comics/420-renpai-girl-r8203 . Why is this not on MU?
Because someone has to add it.
Well, that might work, but the guys from MU are really anal about licensed scans, so it may be better to avoid them.
You're doing God's work btw. Now we'd need something like that for CR rips.
Would you mind telling me which ones of the No Gropu list are licensed? It might be better to avoid them, if they make so many problems.
There's a few manga not on M-U, like that Index 4koma anthology.
Why? I dunno. It's usualy stuff that got translated on batoto/4chan so nobody bothered because MU doesn't want it.
A real shame. They cancelled it on my country after three volumes, and finding those english releases must be pretty hard now.
I waited 5 years and still nothing.
Not really, they're all on Amazon.
You're looking on the Batoto list, right? Normally, they shouldn't even be there, but it seems their mods didn't see some of them (hell, the +anima scans on batoto are even scans from tokyopop taken from mangafox).
Just go with the batoto list then, or you'll end checking every series. Maybe avoid chapters who are on Kiss and not on Batoto.
Ryushika Ryushika I need my yoshitoshi abe yotsuba.
What's the oldest manga you've read, /a/?
Depends how old you consider manga as I've read plenty of proto manga.
>yoshitoshi abe yotsuba.
Hardly, I wish the writing and characters were as good. It was a shitty manga that tried too hard constantly to be DEEP. It's Yotsuba for try hard teenagers who are too edgy for Yotsuba.
What do you mean by proto manga?
black png colour jpg thats it
You must be trolling, some vague whimsical philosophical passages from a childish perspective are not DEEP or edgy. As an intelligent or imaginative child those are exactly the kinds of places your mind goes with prompting.
Fucking translators disappeared.
Let me know if the page gets approved for MU.
It did not.
I accidentaly a word.
What about manga with skipped chapters?
Nothing annoys me more than being told "watch the anime" when I'm reading the fucking manga.
I want to READ One Outs or Chihayafuru.
All right, I'll work on sneaking a group in there.
Edens bowy they just stopped the translations out of nowhere ;_:
It'd be nice if translations for Yasashii Sekai no Tsukurikata would start up again
We will never know the end.
I did a thread about it back in 2011, but not many people showed interest so I gave up.
I also looked for raws back then, but couldn't find them. I don't know if there have been some since then, but I don't think so.
Just checked, and as I thought there's no raws either.
It's a shame, and the translated scans are kind of low quality too.
They didn't cancel it, it's just an antology.
