0/10 would not watch again.
SO, FUCKING WHAT? How did that ending even comprehend to wrap things up? There wasn't even a conclusion
It's because they made another season (yes I know right?)
It wrapped up Suou's character arc, got Hei his power back, and reunited him with Yin. What didn't you get?
I hated season two as well
They didnt wrap it up. They threw a rug over it.
>tfw no season 2
What? S2's plotline was concluded and they left it open for future developments.
There was magic and then Suou was on earth two and then earth two just floats away and disappears..? What the fuck were they thinking when they wrote the finale.
>Expecting anything good from a BONES S2.
You realize the second Earth was a collaboration between Shion, Yin, and Madam Oreille, right?
Season two when?
It was literally the director going butthurt because they wouldn't let him make loli conquest anime.
Then he made it anyway
S2 NEVER HAPPENED.
>LET'S SPEND 11 EPISODES DEVELOPING A NEW CHARACTER WHEN PEOPLE JUST WANT TO SEE MORE GOD DAMN ELECTRIC BATMAN.
>GREAT, NOW THAT WE'RE ON THE LAST EPISODE, LET'S TAKE ALL THAT CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT WE WASTED TIME ON, AND JUST THROW IT RIGHT OUT THE FUCKING WINDOW.
Shikkoku No Hana adaption when?
Dammit, I'm sill mad.
At least Gaiden is good
Too bad it was too late already
I hope never. My heart couldn't take this twice.
F-fucking hurts dude... every time...
S2 would be considered good if we got an S3
Prove me wrong.
I can't imagine a S3 being worse than S2.
burden of proof is on you, bruh bruh
Only if S3 miraculously managed to be even more shittier than S2.
Watched the first 15 episodes of this, enjoyed it. But now it seems like it's moving away from short episodic stories into a larger narrative everyone seems to be unhappy with.
Should I even bother finishing it?
>mfw during literally the entirety of S2
>Should I even bother finishing it?
If you're expecting some sort of closure, definitely not
BONES tried to be philosophical and be the next EVA
By everyone you mean...?
Darker than Black?
More like Browner than shit.
With a russian loli doing sailor moon transformations?
Hey, at least we got Gaiden.
Too bad Gaiden wasn't the s2.
oh god I forgot about the transformation part
Truly dark times
Gaiden was great and a real return to form direction and tone-wise. But there will always be a dark shadow looming over it knowing that its is there to give more context to S2. truly a shame.
You know it's bad when the manga spinoff that takes place directly after the anime is a better season 2 than the shit stain that was the BONES S2
It is still completely episodic until the last 2 or 3 episodes. But the actual narrative does emerge. And people complain about the second seasons overarching plot because its completely different from the first season and poorly written.
If you're still in season 1 yes definitely finish it. The plot is complete by the end. Just don't worry about continuing into Ryuusei no Gemini.
Hey, he can always watch Gaiden and blame BONES for not doing a s2.
>The plot is complete by the end
Of course I don't expect closure, this is anime. Endings are always shit.
the common opinion I see slung around /a/ whenever the show is mentioned
Huh, I see. I kinda want to see it just to see if it's that bad. Where does this rank in relation to, let's say, Minami-ke's second season?
That's because the ending of S2 was COMPLETELY transitional. Everything, except Earth 2 was a new development that just started, there was no resolution. The anti-Christ was born and it sucks humans instead of Contractors, Yin's condition is unknown, AMRKA invaded and occupied Japan cause of the Gate and Misaki, of all people, is now the head of the new Syndicate whose purpose is to fight the invaders. Chinese Electric Batman and Japanese Lesbian Catwoman vanished into the night.
It was a perfect setup for S3 until the director said in an interview that S2 cleared every and all questions.
God damn it, Bones.
Just posting some Yin.
>Mfw starting to rewatch the first season, my recollections of which was FUCK YEAH, COOL NEO NOIR X-MEN SPIES AND SHIT
>More and more I watch, the more I realized how cruel and bittersweet it is, always to characters with good intentions, well meant or at least shitty people that were just starting to turn around
Fucking Huang, man. That guy had a hard life...and they all managed to go for the big one as total bros.
I wanted so hard to fap to some DtB doujins, but they're all too damn heartwarming. Art was so good too..
Wait there was a second season to DTB? Where the fuck have I been.
Stay mad, it was 8/10.
There isn't a good comparison for it. It is just a completely different show from S1. The color palate is completely different, people act out of character for the series, it introduces a billion new aspects of the world that I wont opinionize on, and instead of a tight two episode focus for all the arcs its a 13 episode affair.
Lets look at episode structure during S1's overarching narrative events were done during a set of two episodes. This let them have a tighter focus on the characters central to the arc. Hei even starts to feel less like a protagonist and more like a framing device in half the arcs.
In S2 however is ALL about Suou.
Season two was garbage
Lesbian Laser Catwomen is actually working with Misaki, Orielle and Golgo13. The entire Izanami thing was fucking terrible.
only for you
Are the Manga worth reading?
I think some anon said that every Yin doujin is vanilla, meaning that I can't fap to any of them, too much for my heart.
First one is shoujo as FUCK and kind of mediocre. Shikoku no Hana is pretty good though.
>not realising s2 is the superior season
>The entire Izanami thing was fucking terrible.
I disagree, it was one of the few things that started with little context and developed enough to make perfect sense in the end of the show, which was surprising considering it was in the middle of a shitstorm of new plotpoints and developments out of fucking nowhere.
I don't hate S2 like most of /a/, it's actually pretty decent although it could have been handled much better. I'll never get why it got half the episodes of S1.
I didn't remember Japanese Jedi Lesbian Catwoman ended up with Misaki and Golgo 13. Sucks that we'll never see anything come out of it.
Suou pls go.
>Hei even starts to feel less like a protagonist and more like a framing device in half the arcs.
This is really what I enjoyed about the series.
>There isn't a good comparison for it. It is just a completely different show from S1. >In S2 however is ALL about Suou.
This doesn't sound inherently bad. I'm always willing to give it a shot when a show wants to tell a wildly different kind of story in the same universe.
It probably shouldn't have been referred to as a 'second season' if it was such a departure from the status quo, though.
>Almost 5 years old
Hei likes Yin.
>This doesn't sound inherently bad
Normally it wouldn't. If It hadn't been a sequel. If it was just Ryusei no Gemini, it would have been a decent 1 cour show. As it stands though its amounts to nothing more than fan fiction that has been legitimized.
Yin is ded. Only Suou now.
But it doesn΄t matter because season 3 never.
I still have hopes for a movie.
Deep down inside, I too want to believe.
Goddamn, how can a series have so many god-tier EDs.
Yin was never stated to be dead. Suou's the one deadly dead. Only amnesiac clones now.
Suou ain't dead, niggah. She's on Earth 2.
>Not just Shion's fantasy while being on acid
Her amnesiac clone, you mean.
Suou died YEARS before S2
I would love a S3 that's set up as cute adventures of Yin and Chinese electric Batman as they pretend to be a normal couple living in the suburbs
With occasional flashbacks to Hei's past in the war
Earth 2's Suou's just a copy. Doesn't count. "Real" Suou is dead and rotting somewhere.
This is BONES fault.
The other Suou was a copy too. Her memories will come back with the power of LOVE.
>We will never get a heavens gate prequel
They say that when pandora's box is opened, hope is the last to emerge.
Where in space exactly is the alternate good end earth?
> watched dtb season 1, kinda liked April
> mfw sequel ep 1
Probably somewhere in Earth΄s orbit. They would freeze or melt if their distance from the sun changed.
Every character you liked died for pretty much no reason, or was just never heard from again!
Wasn't it on the moon?
Suou is trash.
Did Hei really get his power back?
I've yet to watch this and that one thing may have a bearing on that.
I lost all hopes for s2 after that scene.
Hamburger-kun was kinda cool.
I HAVE A QUESTION
did Hei's sister Bai die when he got caught in that anti-contractor weapon in season 2?
I feel like that is a question that should have been dealt with in the show and they didn't even hint at it
Every cute girl dies: the season.
You talking shit about my waifu m8?
It seems he did. His star was shining again. That was the only way he could stop Izanami, or whatever.
She somehow fused with Hei, or died and passed down her powers to him.
>I feel like that is a question that should have been dealt with in the show and they didn't even hint at it
Except it was explained, you just didn't pay any attention at all.
yes, she fused with him and that's why he had powers. So the part of him that was her die? I thought the weapon was supposed to destroy contractors, but he just lost his powers, so that is what I assumed happened, but then they didn't even mention it at all.
Suou was a good girl until she got a contractor personality, or whatever the fuck happened. She went from energetic to gloomy.
No, she's just permanently sleeping inside of him now and thats why he can use his powers freely. He didn't lose his power until S2 and those section 13 fucks got involved.
>I thought the weapon was supposed to destroy contractors, but he just lost his powers,
There's no other reason than supporting Mary Suou.
I think they meant in S2 when he lost his powers.
I thought she went into the amulet.
Seriously, what happened?
Did they decide to listen to their fans or something?
> oh hey it's that girl from the first season again, she was kind ni
> shocking reunion
> oh hey look at this hot russian contractor who actually seems to still be having feeli
> my sides
> oh hey, it's a hot chinese gi
> well at least lesbian eyebrows still gets her wai
> this chair
I feel like I'm the only person who really loved season 2. Liked it more than season 1, really.
You people are just impossible to satisfy. If they went into depth about what caused the powers and what was beyond the gate it would have sucked, and you damn right know it. You fucking retards would just be complaining about how it ruined the mystique the series once had, and how it's lame that Hei is the chosen one, or something like that. I'm sure of it.
Season 2 ending is great. It wrapped up the story while keeping up the series paranormal feel intact; because there is no fucking explanation for paranormal shit - it's magic, you don't have to explain, and you couldn't even if you wanted too. It's just better this way.
I actually feel bad for Lesbian Catwoman, having you're waifu killed is not good.
>really loved season 2. Liked it more than season 1, really.
Stopped reading there.
That makes no fucking sense. Season 2 did so much more to dispel the mystique of the series what with its ancient prophecies and all knowing goofy french whores.
The waifu killing in s2 was some professional stuff.
It ranged from characters getting killed by their own waifu to characters thinking their waifu killed their mom, but still loving them.
I loved season 2 as well. But the ending felt more like a cliffhanger/reset just in case another season would happen. A big fuck you.
That and squirrel Mao were shit.
> stop disliking what I like! ;_;
Remember that time someone posted a picture of Yuki-onna's butt and everyone thought the thumbnail looked like Hei?
Sports anime 3rd season.
Finish the first season, watch Giaden, never watch S2. It's better that way.
Silly Hei, trying to use his powers in wood!
Suou really existed.
Most people in DtB are dead anyway; the only people not dead are Hei or masters of plot armor.
What's the point? Gaiden is the set-up for the situation in season 2.
But fire-girl IS dead, anon.
>What's the point?
You can choose to have another depressing story and a depressing end.
Or you can have the original series end.
>said in an interview
Oh for fuck sake, Bones.
>What's the point?
This this this and this.
> Darker than black
> black (ish) character dies first ep
From the OVA, but goddamn it was good
I know we don't agree on things too often, bu can we at least agree that Suou is the best DTB girl?
No, fuck you, slut.
Good thing there is no season two.
Would you spend a day with Yin or lick Hei's collarbones?
Yin clearly best girl
I always felt bad for Misaki, since she's clearly in love with Lee, the person Hei is pretending to be around her
Alright I'll concur on this point. She's a bit of a tragic figure
Just dropping by to say people that people that say 'this is a good anime but a shit sequel' have shit between their ears.
T-Thanks, that is my fetish.
