The players I use (GOM and VLC) both screw up the subtitles for some while after I skip 5-10 seconds. Sometimes I miss a line and I skip back but it takes about 5 seconds for the subtitles to kick in.

Then use only mpc.Still better than VLC
>>
Every player does this.
It has to do with the way subs are implemented.

If you don't like that, use hardsubs.
>>
Notepad++ is the only option
>>
hard sub is the only to go for you.,
>>
>>101563395
No way anon. Notepad++ has too much useless shit in it that slows down the frame rate. Notepad obviously superior.
>>
>>101563622
The controls of Notepad++ are simply superior. You can't beat that.

Why the fuck would I need to print an anime screencap on the go?
>>
>>101563369
This, Anon. This.
The player puts the subs lines when the sub script instructs it to do so. If you skip, all players simply wait for the next line to appear. Deal with it.
(One way of dealing with it is making a hardsub only for watching)
>>
>>101563304
I use both and never encountered a problem like yours. So I guess the source of your anime is shitty.

mpv has a feature you can enable which makes it so subs stay with the video as scrolling and they appear immediately instead of not appearing and waiting for the next line.

Put this in the config file.

mkv-subtitle-preroll

I am not aware of any other media player having this.

Feels good man.
>>
>>101565962
Specifically the section of the man page.

They say it doesn't work sometimes but I've never seen it not work.

But the subs look fucking amazing at desktop size ;_;

Everything up to date?
>>
>>101567205
Make sure the subtitle quality option in madVRs Trade Quality for Performance menu is on.
>>
>>101567274
I guess.

xySUBfilter is still on beta, right?

>>101567277
Gonna try using this, I suppose it's on the options of madVR, right?
>>
>>101567338
Still no subs in the pngs.

Should I take the capture at an specified zoom or something? I'm taking the captures while being at a zoom of 50%, also, should I tick the box of render subtitlte at video size?
>>
>>101567459
>should I tick the box of render subtitlte at video size
Isn't that the whole point of XySubfilter?
>>
>>101567481
I mean, just for taking captures?

If I remember correctly, you can't take captures at desktop size with madVR, just video resolution.
>>
>>101567481
>Isn't that the whole point of XySubfilter?
No, the whole point is to render subtitles after resizing (while not breaking advanced typesetting like 3D rotations, shearing, blurs, etc)
>>
>>101567246
For windows they have portable binaries, all you have to do is right-click an mkv file and set it to always open with mpv.

For linux some distros have it in their repos, e.g. Debian Sid or Arch, although compiling from source is really not that hard.

http://mpv.srsfckn.biz/

https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv-build

Mac OSX there is homebrew.

OP, might I direct you towards SMPlayer2?

What are you on? A fucking Toshiba? Just put a fan next to it or buy a fucking fan for it you pleb.
Otherwise, just use any mpv or something for Linux.
>>
>>101568741
On Linux/OSX/BSD/Any_Unix_system_ever it's in ~/.mpv/config

Windows create a file called config in the mpv directory you get, a file called fonts.conf should also be in there by default.

>Should I take the capture at an specified zoom or something
On the off chance you're still here: yes, the video needs to be at 100% zoom for it to work.

And no, don't change any settings in XySubFilter, only make sure the "optimize sub quality for performance" is checked in madVR settings.
>>
You can take screenshots that include subs with xysubfilter by making a keybind to I think VidFrm normal to render the video at it's actual resolution for the screen shot and then returning it with another key bound to VidFrm Inside.
>>
I use MPC-HC without madVR on my laptop. It doesn't overheat. If your laptop overheats from watchign anime, you should get it cleaned.

Oh and every player does this. Subs only appear when a new line starts.

>>101570855

Except mpv.
