What went wrong?
People started turning into titans.
Would have been cool if they handled it better.
They didn't build bigger walls.
Eren didn't stay dead.
For all we know, the walls were built by Titans. There's plenty of dormant ones sealed away inside them, after all.
It's generic shonen stuff. Did you expect award winning literature?
This. Worst protagonist ever.
It's better than any American literature at least.
I don't know man, they say having bad taste is hereditary, maybe you should blame your parents
The first 6 or 7 episodes were bretty gud.
You should really pick up a book some time.
One without pictures.
It was either this, or 15 y/o boy finds hidden giant robot that stops an alien invasion.
Do you even Hemingway?
Both of there are bait, by the way.
It got popular on tumblr.
Titan form. After that, very little skill was involved in any of Eren's fights, and most of the suspense went out the window. Also an asspull power-up, followed by another asspull power-up. Titan form killed any war anime or survival horror atmosphere that AoT ever had. Then everyone titan form, and it just got worse from there. By idiotic coincidence, everyone in Eren's class of teenagers was a titan spy, which in retrospect, killed any tension or interesting characterization they had obtained in their earlier scenes.
AoT also sold itself as something grimdark and suspenseful, like Muv-Luv, only for it to turn out that everyone but nameless red shirts have two-inch thick plot armor. In short, a shit ton of things went wrong, more than I can describe in one post, and I've described more of it than I had even originally intended to when I started this post.
It could've been non-generic shonen. There is good shonen out there, but AOT isn't among them.
Don't know I dropped it.
Hemingway is the worst example of good American literature you could pick holy shit
I know right, he should have picked this.
What went wrong? My father liked it.
It's not even better than Stephen King or Lovecraft. Both pulled off horror far better than Attack on Titan ever has.
They made an anime about it
Lovecraft is shit.
And it's still better than SnK
>kid witnesses his mother die
>kid eventually loses an arm and a leg
>kid joins military with those close to him
>mysterious enemies hiding among us as humans
>fanbase keeps talking about MUH FEELS as though they weren't too few and far between
Where have I seen this shit before.
Well the art is terrible for one and the author changed the plot once the anime got popular.
This. Anime is where popular manga goes to die. Just wait for OPM when /a/ starts claiming it was always shit and never good.
>was going to kill everyone
Why can't mangaka have the guts to kill anyone. Happened in Rozen Maiden and Sora no Otoshimono too.
It is the modern day gateway anime of the worst kind. /a/ allows discussion about it but I guarantee once it takes Space Dandy's 11:30 timeslot on Toonami sometime this year everyone will hate the fuck out of it.
>AoT also sold itself as something grimdark and suspenseful, like Muv-Luv
That's not what ML originally sold itself as, and the franchise has only become less popular since even attempting to do that.
>Just wait for OPM
No. No I don't want this to happen.
Your father has shit taste
Anime original scenes.
It was pretty good. Nothing went wrong. The hipsters just started to hate it because of popularity.
>everything after Eren becomes a titan was terrible
>"nothing went wrong"
It went wrong when /a/ went apeshit over it
The titan shifting itself wasn't a bad twist, it was just handled poorly and make Eren's "death" onward feel like a generic power level competition.
It had a nice gritty feel that made you feel like humanity really was fucked that was ruined when Eren became the Plot Armored Titan.
go on tumblr and type in this show
you will be scared for life
It was published.
Not enough Jean.
Cool meme character, bro.
>Lovecraft is shit.
So is Stephen King. I thought that was the point of the post. Even shitty American pulp horror novels are better than Shingeki
Cool le jean meme post, bro.
Not enough delicious shota Armin.
I can say when I was reading this manga for the first time (before it was known by /a/) I thought it went fucking stupid the minute Eren turned into a mec- titan.
AoE is the best mango to come out of Japan since Berserk 25 years ago what are you talking about?
>never even heard of William Gibson
faggots, faggots everywhere
Author is a spineless cunt who wants to cash in on the shitty fanbase that came about with the anime.
Also although Eren being a Titan was fine, literally everyone important being a Titan was fucking retarded.
I've been waiting for this.
So you think it's more plausible that his dad invented the entire process of shifting and the powers accompanying it and chose to keep them secret from the world in the form of his mentally unstable son than that it's existing knowledge that he appropriated and kept hidden because of authorities having an interest in people not finding out?
No. I just think it's much less interesting when everyone can turn into a Titan. It takes away the suspense and horror elements away from the story. At most, there should have been one enemy Titan shifter. Having the guys who broke the wall being autistic kids took out the punch and menace of the action.
Japanese The walking dead
It went from attack on titan to titan on titan.
>finds hidden giant robot that stops an alien invasion
Shingeki no Kyojin Impact Hypothesis
The walls are not walls but bowels. (“They also seem to extend surrounding the human territory underground and were once mistaken for bedrock” http://shingekinokyojin.wikia.com/wiki/Walls) The setting of SNK was inspired by a town in southern Germany, says the Japanese TV. (http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2013/11/10/video-educational-show-visits-attack-on-titan-town - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N%C3%B6rdlingen) Well, and that town happens to be located within a large-scale meteor impact crater. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N%C3%B6rdlinger_Ries) (Compare “Ries” with “Historia Reiss”.)
A way to build the walls underground would have been to put them on the ground of a crater and then fill the area above with earth. The basement in Eren’s home does lead to the lowest levels of the crater.
I do not say that such a large meteor impact happened recently, because that would have been big enough to finish mankind at all. The crater could have been there for a long time. I doubt SNK happens on “our Earth” and in “our timeline”, because there is no hint to (for example) Christianity or any country which existed prior to the Titans appearing.
>He doesn't even Blood Meridian.
Eren keeps getting kidnapped and he still hasn't gone to the fucking basement or fixed the hole in the wall. Other than that I'm ok with how it's going
