So last time we talked about how to get more discussion out of these threads so they don't get too old, and we had these ideas:
>3x3s of your first animu (guess if you have to)
>guess what would be #10
>trying to get 9/9
>shitting on Witchblade
>saying why you don't like the shows you subtract for
Any other ideas to spice up these threads?
Too lazy to do a lot of that right now but one suggestion could be decade specific, pre-digital, or post-digital only, original only, genre based, trying to guess what other people would like from their 3x3, etc. Stuff that encourages having watched a large variety of stuff throughout the ages.
+Oofuri, Lodoss, and Getter, although I haven't finished New Getter yet.
I have Saiunkoko on my plan to watch on account of hearing it's similar to 12 Kingdoms, I watched the first episode of House of Five Leaves but didn't get into it back when it was airing for some reason, and have been saving Ichigo for when I need that type of show.
Out of what I liked I'd say I like Oofuri the best. I'm not a fan of baseball but the way they portrayed the relationships of the team(no homo], the in-depth game analysis, and the general feel of the anime really excited me. I can't wait for more to be animated. FRASHBACK. Getter would be second but mostly for the manga, especially Go. Armageddon was great animation and mood-wise, but it was so disjointed. Even then, I have it on my favorite OVAs list. Lodoss had a perfect fantasy mood and I really loved the OP and ED of the OVA. I've yet to watch the tv version, but I know the OP is great for that. I still prefer the tone and sound of the OVA's OP/ED though.
Best thing people can do is just make mosaics for things other than series.
Movies, OST's, OP and ED, shit like that.
Perhaps go even further and restrict them to genre, time period, characters, and whatnot. Though since a majority of /a/nons have so little experience, most people wouldn't bother.
Hell, many people can't even bother separating movies from series.
Other than that, my biggest want has been to move away from an arbitrary number and require people to actually offer their opinion, like that >>101504993 has done. I think it leads to more actual discussion and purpose, rather than "you show me yours and ill show you mine" which is what these kinds of threads are by default.
On to the actual 3x3's, I don't recognize the majority of yours, so I can't really have an opinion.
Half good taste, half "shit every other 3x3 has".
That being said, it's a solid 7/8, I don't recognize middle right.
And you are my nigga for 12 Kingdoms.
>babby's first anime
You can totally tell when I started watching, and what made me choose to watch certain anime.
You, I like you.
7/7 I haven't seen Utena and 12 Kingdoms because I'm saving all the cool shows for last. It's hard to choose which of yours I like most when any of them could be on my 3x3 (except Hidamari I guess, I like other SOL shows a lot more).
I actually only really liked the 70s portion of the Getter manga, it was harder to get into later for me, not sure why.
Hit enter by accident and neglected to rate >>101505159
6/6 I need to watch G Gundam, it looks cool as hell. Glad to see someone else liked Erin, too. How am I supposed to be critical here?!
Eh, I don't care what others have on their 3x3s personally, at least in terms of "everybody has this!" I wouldn't put anything I didn't genuinely enjoy on there, but I'm sure you're not trying to imply that really. Middle right is Utena.
I'll start by saying I really really hate that Joseph fanart there and overall don't usually like fanart in 3x3s, but that one really grinds me gears for some reason. It's offset by how fucking amazing that GTO picture is though. I nearly spit my drink out last time I saw it.
Out of yours I'd say my favorite series I've seen is JoJo. Not sure if that represents the anime or manga though, if the anime, then go read the manga if you haven't. Part 2 is overrated, but so is Part 4, my favorite part, at least by /a/.
Don't have much to say about Eva that hasn't been said a million times.
I want to watch Kemono no Soja, I've heard really good things about it.
Nichijou was great fun and my favorite Kyoani show, second favorite was Tamako Market, didn't like much else they did.
GTO is great but I prefer Shonan Junai Gumi, Onizuka's early days were really great.
Outlaw Star was enjoyable and that one bench episode stuck out to me the most. I forgot most of it though.
Space Bros is a very consistent fun show.
Spice and Wolf had an easy-to-watch atmosphere and enjoyable characters
Twelve Kingdoms has some of the best character growth I've seen in anime.
This takes up a ton of the character limit... here's my ova list.
Holy shit I saw Eva somehow instead of G Gundam... I just glanced and saw almost purple mech. I'm an idiot.
G Gundam is really fun, I'm actually watching it now.
Is that middle one Gungrave? I downloaded the BD's this morning, Kinda hyped to watch it. I love mafia shit.
I thought it was Eva at first, too, but then thought that was a really weird scene for Eva... and then realized they were Gundams.
8/8 I haven't seen Macross Plus.
Yeah, it's Gungrave. I bought bootleg DVDs of it like 10 years ago and one of them didn't work. IIRC the first (or second?) episode is the worst one so you should be good knowing that. The mafia parts are the best parts, but the ending is good.
It's the anime. It's been way too long since I did anything with the manga, so I'll have to reread it and catch up at some point, though I'll do so after part 3 airs. I always prefer watching something than reading something if I have the option.
What's wrong with the Joseph picture? I think it fits pretty well.
And yes, the GTO picture is a masterpiece of unrivaled quality.
Your OVA 3x3 is a perfect 9/9, with Goldenboy being my favorite on there.
Gungrave is particularly good.
3/8 (getter, lodoss, 5 leaves)
5/9 (gits, oniisama, 12 kingdoms, utena, haibane)
4/8 (erin, 12 kingdoms, wolf, jojo)
2/9 (gits, azumanga)
You seriously forced yourself to watch Saiunkoku Monogatari and Antique Bakery and didn't like them? Also the first time I've found someone else who has seen Madlax.
Trying to get 9/9 is a bad idea.
These threads are bad enough as is when it comes to people using the most accepted anime.
1/1 Holy shit, I know nothing on this 3X3
2/5 Essentially pretty good stuff, but not really my genres
5/7 Great stuff. Would like to know what bottom right is
5/6 Never really got why people liked Gungrave
7/7 Haven't seen bottom mid and right
Here's a good example of an alternative 3x3 that would be nice to see.
I recognize some of these, but can't put a name to anything but Harlock, 'cause he's obvious as hell.
I'd say you got into anime because you despite weaponry and want world peace.
Cowboy Bebop is great no matter what people say about it being entry level. Really helped get me into sci-fi anime back when it first came on.
Didn't watch FMP or Madlax yet. Couldn't get into Ergo Proxy but I'll try it again some day.
Gungrave used to be one of my favorite anime, the mafia stuff was really well done and the later fighting parts were still cool. It's funny that it took me a while to come to the conclusion that it's sort of a modern day retelling of my favorite series, Berserk.
Trigun was always fun to watch but I definitely need to rewatch it.
GitS is great in all forms, although I haven't watched Arise yet.
Black Lagoon was really good.
Azumanga was great for a before bed series, lighthearted and pretty funny. Sakaki was my favorite. I liked Hidamari more because I felt like you got to watch the characters grow over time, even if it was just through high school years.
The art in the manga is amazing and I'm not sure if they'll adapt Part 3 as well as they did 1 and 2 unless they make it long enough. Still, you're missing out on a lot of the charm of the series with its very detailed and crazy art. I think the picture just looks kinda generic bishounen art.
+Samurai X, Patlabor, stuff from my chart
Didn't watch Crying Freeman yet, but I loved Sanctuary. Haven't watched MS Team yet either, but did watch War in the Pocket, which was great.
>5/7 Great stuff. Would like to know what bottom right is
You get a 7/9 though you also get negative points for most of your picks being very common, with exception of Bartender, which makes you my automatic nigga no matter what.
That's a pretty cool idea, I've never sat down and really thought about what OPs would be in a top 9. I can never remember EDs so I'd have to give up on that.
Iirc I've read up to the beginning of part 4. It's been a long time, like I said. I don't remember why I stopped reading it.
Honestly, I have that picture because it's the first one I found that fits with the 3x3. The only thing I'm unhappy with aesthetically is Erin and Outlaw Star, but good fanart simply does not fucking exist for either one.
It was pretty easy for me. All of them are the ones that I can remember off the top of my head, and the OST's are ones I listen to regularly.
What is bottom left?
>tfw you haven't read enough VNs for a VN 3x3
They are all like 50 hours long, how do you guys do this? Jesus.
Hence why there's very few 3x3's for VN's.
Sure, why not, I'll complain about the things I hated.
-1 Outlaw Star
Man, I can rant for fucking ages about why I think Outlaw Star is one of the most overrated anime of the 90s, even moreso than bebop. It's like I'm the only one who didn't like this anime except for Jean.
Past the point where one of the assassins beats everyone and you think shit gets real with the assassin guild and shit, nothing fucking happens. The gang just goes around, does pretty much nothing and nothing opposes them.
It's like playing D&D with max stats and you're already the strongest force in the kingdom, what the joy in that? And the lead up to the end was fucking shit. And people like this show.
What this anime needed was about 30 or so more episodes to flesh out everything rather than rush everything in a climax that made no sense and ruined the entire thing.
Everything else in your list is good though.
7/8 (don't recall the bottom right)
Fucking shit that is only good for being a 6 episode ova and nothing more
It was good for its time! the before final last episode and ending were good!
Still doesn't make the rest not fucking shit, pointless and overall shit. That show really annoyed me by how much I didn't really enjoy it in any possible way.
Oh nice, some Harlock.
Need to start watching Bartender already but I heard it's boring so meh.
Harlock is great, I'm almost finished with his series right now. Have Dirty Pair downloaded.
I need to watch Bartender and Mushishi, probably do 1 a night before bed of either of them til I finish, they are those types of series. Didn't finish One Outs, which I should probably start over. Gankutsuou was the first anime I watched as it aired, so it has a nostalgic charm for me, it was also pretty good unless I had terrible taste back then.
.hack's OST is fucking great. Same with Gungrave. JoJo part 1's OP was fucking amazing and exactly the type of OP the show needed. Nichijou's OP and OST were great, very lighthearted and fun. Good picks overall
I feel like I changed something on my OST 3x3 before that I put into my bigger all-encompassing picture, but it's not changed on this one. Oh well, I'll fix it later.
VNs aren't my thing really, I liked Saya no Uta a ton and it had an amazing ost, but not much else has hooked me unless you count Bible Black or True Love back in high school. Oh, and Phenameno, a VN with art by ABe that was pretty sure and based on some horror novel. It was okay.
>Need to start watching Bartender already but I heard it's boring so meh.
That and your dislike of Outlaw Star makes me hate you.
Really not a fan of Higurashi, Umineko, Muv-Luv, or S;G, but Saya no Uta is great. I want to give Ever17 a try.
Berserk and Kurosawa are some of my favorite manga and Yotsuba is good. Need to read Angel Densetsu.
7/7 on anime
Harlock is really good, Monster is one of my favorites, GTO is good. LoGH of course is great, Lodoss is great. Texhnolyze had amazing atmosphere and I really want to watch it all again with the full knowledge of the characters in my head. Utena is another favorite.
6/6 on movies
Time of Eve was really good, Summer Wars was fun, I watched it in a viewing room on a big screen, Millennium Actress is the best Kon movie. Vampire Hunter D had some goddamn amazing animation and coloring, I hope Kawajiri and Madhouse continue teaming up somehow. Prince Mononoke wasn't my favorite Ghibli but it wasn't bad. Haven't watched Kiki since I was a kid but I have fond memories of it.
Lets hope we get Dreaming Machine as well... come on Madhouse get your shit together ;_;
Movies list now...
>not having read VNs
There are a lot of VNs to read, some of them damn fucking good.
999, Ever 17, Saya, Higurashi, Umineko Grisasia (only the common route, fuck the rest) Swan Song (currently reading and liking it) Muv-Luv and Alternative, KS (worth reading only for Rin's route which was damn well written imo) G-senjou, S;G Symphonic Rain, All of KEY works so Planaterian, Clannad, Rewrite (good read but lacking everywhere) LB (good common, meh routes, killer ending that made me cry like a bitch), Forest, SnK etc etc.
My VNs level are damn low compared to /jp/
I'm recently been reading into Tsurumiku using ATLAS and my dick can't handle it.
So much mind break slavery it's insanely enjoyable. Wish the ost was better.
Bartender is in my backlog, I'll get around to it one day. Not saying it's bad, just hearing form secondary sources.
But Outlaw Star was fucking terrible.
I fucking loved the OP, kept singing to it and watched it every single episode but goddamn was everything else past the point where the gang gets completely wrecked by that assassin dude got boring and nowhere.
You sure do like to share a lot of picks with my lists.
All of it is solid, but I haven't seen Mindgame because the artstyle puts me off.
The end of the show screams "finished before the manga did", but the I enjoyed the series as a whole so much I can't help but put it on my 3x3.
I know it's shit, but it's the most nostalgic shit to me.
Forgot my image.
Rating aesthetics too could be fun.
3/3 +Hidamari, Kaiji, gits
4/4 +Spice and Wolf, GTO, Nichijou, and Outlaw Star
2/3 +Ergo Proxy, Azumanga -Bebop: I said it in the last thread but shows with western favor like Bebop is not my thing. Bebop bored me. I sometimes see it compared to Outlaw star but I actually liked Outlaw star for some reason. Black Lagoon is in my backlog and I need to watch that soon.
2/2 +GTO, Bartender
VN I haven't played many VN but I really plan to get to some of those classics, 1/1 LB
manga I also don't read a lot of manga 2/2 +Berserk, Yotsuba
anime 1/1 +GTO
Movies 1/2 +Haruhi -5cm
2/2 +Kaiji, NGE
Mind Game has a really weird style of mixing real life with animation, but overall it's fucking amazing. I first watched it after a few days of no sleep and in a viewing room on a huge screen. For the entire last 20 minutes of it I couldn't tell if I was dreaming or awake. Even on rewatches it has affected me a lot. You get over the weird style pretty fast. Especially if you liked Yuasa's other stuff.
Jin-Roh > Porco Rosso > Tokyo Godfathers = Nausicaa > Girl Who Leapt Through Time > Redline > Wolf Children > Welcome to the Space Show
Haven't watched Sky Crawlers yet.
Wolf Children didn't wow me as much as it did a lot of people, but it was a cute story. Space Show was merely okay to me, but watchable, nothing I'd call bad, but it had a good deal of flaws. I liked Keiji Fujiwara as a cool dog though. Porco Rosso is my favorite Ghibli so far, Nausicaa is my second. Tokyo Godfathers is one of those movies you could show to almost anybody and they'd enjoy, but I prefer Kon's more psychological stuff. Still amazing though, I watched it for the first time on Christmas Eve last year.
Nichijou. I watched the first episode of Chrono Crusade years ago after a friend trolled me by saying it was related to Chrono Trigger. It left a bad taste in my mouth but I'd like to try it again maybe.
I've watched Ichigo Mashimaro, which was pretty good. House of Five Leaves and that baseball anime are in my backlog.
>trying to get 9/9
Scores mean nothing to me, fuck them.
>shit every other 3x3 has
You say that like it's a bad thing. I'd rather have a 3x3 with my favorite shows than a hipster chart. Though I hardly ever see Yuru Yuri, Honey & Clover and GuP on other 3x3s.
I love guns too, but I prefer them with cute little girls.
Is it really better to skip the first episode of gungrave? I remember someone making daily threads about it, but it sounds so strange.
Yes it is. The first episode is near the end of the series chronologically, but not necessary regardless of placement.
Iirc, it doesn't even tie into the later part of the series that well.
So yeah, skip the first episode, you wont miss anything.
VN - 1/1 -Steins;Gate, obviously. Haven't really delved into the visual novel genre that much, but I do have Saya downloaded and have been recommended Ever 17 by some friends.
Manga - 2/2 -I'm pretty sure middle right is Kokou no Hito. It was pretty amazingly drawn and the story was pretty depressing until he finally found a girl that wasn't a lying whore. It got a lot nicer to read after that.
-Sumire 16 is such a heartwarming and lovely story. A+ for putting that in.
Anime - 1/1 -Long, but always moving the story along, Monster took quite a bit to get through, but told a fantastic tale.
Movies - 5.5/6 -Recently rewatched Time of Eve's movie after watching the series a while ago, and it was really great. All the characters were lovable and kind of made me want to be able to go to such a cafe.
-I haven't watched Laputa in years, but I do remember it being really nice and maybe a little bit different from most Ghiblis? I'll have to rewatch it soon.
-I'm kind of iffy on Summer Wars. It was well animated, but the story and characters just didn't do it for me.
-Princess Mononoke is one of the greats though. It has classic feminist and environmentalist Miyazaki, but it's still a great watch.
-Disappearance was completely worth watching the Haruhi series and culminated into such an amazing movie. I enjoyed the series, but the movie is what really shines.
-I remember Kiki's Delivery Service being good, but. like with Laputa, I haven't watched in years, so I'll have to get on rewatching that as well.
Great taste in general, besides Summer Wars. Maybe it's because I watched the English dub of it.
2/2 -Evangelion's soundtrack has some of my favorite tracks of all time. Hopefully, this includes End of Eva's album as well. Might I recommend the VOX album? It's really fantastic and definitely worth a listen.
-Welcome to the Sunnyside is great and really helped set the mood of Welcome to the NHK well.
1/1 New Getter
1/1 ghost in the shell
4/4 Jojos, G Gundam, GTO, Nichijou
3/3 Bebop, Black lagoon, Trigun
4/4 Getter Robo Armageddon is my favorite anime of all time. Golden Boy, hellsing, gunbuster
5/5 Patlabor, 08th MS team, Golden Boy, FotNS, and Ruroni Kenshin
2/2 GTO and TTGL
2/2 Patlabor and ghost in the shell
five of six, comedy is a subjective thing and the more I tried to enjoy Nichijou the more it felt like a chore to watch.
four of six, oddly enough even though Utena should be my cup of tea Every time I try to pick it up I drop it after I finish one episode. It took me from 2011 to 2013 to watch five episodes before I decided enough and reclaimed the disc space.
2/4 + Bebop, GitS - Azumanga, Trigun
1/1 + Golden Boy
3/4 + Galactic Heroes, TTGL, Bebop. Bartender a shit
2/2 + GitS, Porco Rosso
1/9 + Nichijou
1/2 + S&W - S;G
1/2 + NHK - FLCL
6/7 +F/Z,Cromartie, Baccano, TTGL, Madoka, NHK - Psycho Pass.
Thought Psycho pass was kind of a wreck and only watched it because of the funny threads. Best would probably be Cromartie, but I hope you are an actual Type Moon fag like I am and read F/SN before F/Z.
3/3 +Monogatari, NHK, FLCL
I'm killing myself waiting for Kizu
3/4 +Redline, S;G, Eva - Haruhi
Can't stand Haruhi. No likable character aside from Kyon, and he isn't alone worth it.
5/5 +SYD, Katanaga, S;G, KnK, DXD
You know, as entry and silly as DXD is, I really enjoy it a lot.
1/2 +Black Lagoon, - Ergo Proxy
I fucking DESPISE Ergo Proxy. Literally pretentious just for the sake of being pretentious. One of the only few anime I can say is complete and utter shit
Are there actually people who read F/Z first?
You'd be surprised.
>New Getter Robo
>not SVN or Armageddon
Dat shit taste.
What is the Middle left from
I think the anime is a good starting point to the franchise. But if you are going to read the novel might as well read FSN first.
Is anyone willing to make a 3x3 for me? I have a few made but artistically they certainly aren't on the same level as some I've seen in these threads.
Here's the list of anime if anyone is interested in making one:
>Cromartie High School
>JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
>Panty and Stocking
>Great Teacher Onizuka
That must be the most /a/core 3x3 I've ever seen.
Yeah what can I do, I'm still working on my backlog. Galaxy Express 999 is next.
It's not a bad thing, don't worry. I hope you have read Jojo though, the manga is many times better.
I'll give it a try. Expect it in the next thread probably.
Do you guys get your picture s in pixiv?
Mostly Danbooru and zerochan.
>I hope you have read Jojo though, the manga is many times better
I definitely have read the manga, oneo f my favorites.
Thanks, hopefully I will be there in the next 3x3 thread if you don't make it in this one.
Any preferences on characters? Fanart or official art?
No preference on the characters, as for the art I'd like it to be fan art.
Maybe you should work on watching more shows before you worry about making an aesthetically pleasing 3x3.
I'm working on it, and I'd like to have an aesthetically pleasing 3x3 to post in these threads, no matter how /a/core my taste is.
2/2 MAH NIGGA!
Alright I have to go now, you can post the finished 3x3 in some other thread, hopefully I will stumble upon it.
Too bad since I'm almost done.
Why are you making a 3x3 for someone that's so new he doesn't even know about the archive?
I don't really care who he is. I just like making these things.
Not that guy, but that is some nice taste for a newfag.
Posting hate 3x3s maybe?
Well anyway, it's finished. Either the guy finds in in the archive or I'll post it in another thread.
Are you >>101505159 ?
Also, this is my 3x3 hate
adding on to that shit taste of yours.
Gave it a shot. I also hate Mitsudomoe. Also, you have extremely shitty taste outside of your taste in sports anime. I understand that you don't like anything that might make you seem "pretentious" but what's wrong with Honey and Clover enough that you hate it?
I'm supposing you finished them. Why did you hate Penguindrum?
OP, girls aren't allowed here. Go back to Tumblr.
Why do you dislike popular things?
I don't dislike a lot of anime, but I dropped Honey because it was too boring. The only ones on that list I really truly hate are Lain, School Days, Mitsudomoe and Kotoura.
It as a long time ago since I made that though, so Aku no Hana would definitely be on there, trueshit
>hating SG and Clannad
The Aku no Hana anime was complete shit. I'm not sure that should even be considered anime. Why couldn't the manga get a normal adaptation?
Correct me if I get anything wrong
To Love Ru
You are a faggot really.
>File: 1391513794930.jpg-(274 KB, 904x904, mosa3.jpg)
may i know the guy in 4th panel ? is he inspired from Freddie Mercury ?
I don't dislike popular things. I dislike things that I dislike. Some of which are popular. The more popular ones are easier to get annoyed over as they're posted about more and have bigger annoying fanbases to make me hate it more. None of that stuff is anything I hate only because it's popular or even just because of the fanbase, or else I'd include stuff I'm lukewarm on like SnK with a terrible fanbase, stuff I actually like a lot with a terrible fanbase like JoJo, or stuff I merely just hate the fanbase of without having tried it.
I'll just explain it all.
Red blotches in ecchi shit disgust me, I hate Bleach more than Naruto, FSN and its art style, writing, and characters is terrible, Clannad is melodramatic bullshit with terrible art, P&S was extremely unfunny and a waste of talent, Oreimo is one of the worst anime I've tried to watch, Watamote is probably the one that I let the fanbase of influence me the most, but I found it extremely bad and the cancerous fanbase is disguting, S;G had an okay sci-fi story but with some of the most annoying characters I've ever seen, Bakemonogatari is pretentious trash with overhyped dialogue and generic harem antics. The only good thing about it is some of the character designs and OPs.
Top left just represents red sunburn/zit blotches in ecchi anime. Middle right is Oreimo, but I couldn't find good furry artwork of it, I like S&W.
Yes, it's Freddie.
which anime/manga is that taken from please? i know that Kromatie high school has Freddie in it, but they don't look similar
I gotta agree, the red zit things are fucking disgusting. Watamote and its fanbase were truly fucking shit. The rest (from the ones I've seen) are good.
Come on man, the guy even posted the complete list a few posts back. At least try before you ask for sauce.
really didn't see it, my bad.
It's actually official art as far as I know so I don't understand how you can't see the resemblance.
I really don't care how popular thing are but last time you complained that my movie 3x3 are just the standard picks and how they show that I haven't seen much and now you post your movie 3x3 with Wolf Children, Nausicaa, Jin-Roh, Redline, Tokyo Godfathers, Porco Rosso and The Girl who leaped through Time.
I'm honesly annoyed and disappointed.
Haven't been in these threads for about 5 days. I missed you guys. I gave up on colors and other unimportant shit. Also threw out Haibane and Akira thanks to this /a/non >>101507119
8/8 I really need to watch H&C. Really like your new 3x3 although last one was better looking.
6/7 as always
What the hell. I just made this 3x3 trying to be original and shit. 4/5
How about the first 3x3 we ever made? That could be fun.
You have picked some of the most artsy series and you chose do your 3x3 in black & white.
replace nichijou with jinrui
I think it's the guy that changes his chart for every thread so I assume he just did it for shits and giggles.
holy shit why do people make 3x3s and use the worst possible pictures ever. Random fan art of characters doesn't represent the series.
6/8 CG, Anohana
How far did you get into H&C?
I'm tired of making my 3x3 to look like an eye-candy. Plus it's pretty hard to find a good looking picture for some of my series.
>I assume he just did it for shits and giggles.
Yup it's that guy. I'm not doing it for shits and giggles tho. I'm sticking with this 3x3.
Shit forgot this. Still needs some revision but I'm too lazy to search up more ideal pictures.
Like 3 episodes heh.
Just dropped Champloo yesterday
Just make a manga chart if you want to fuck around with black and white.
Dam it bear. Just man the fuck up and finish H&C. I dropped it around episode 10 or so and picked it up and a year later finally finished it. The second half picks up just ignore the the little girl she feels out of place throughout the show but aside from that it presented the coming of age theme nonchalantly.
you're missing out on some god tier music.
>just ignore the the little girl she feels out of place throughout the show
It's hard to believe, but she is fucking 18 years old.
Just pick pictures that actually fit the series. Black and White don't fit shows like Mononoke, Jinrui, Mushishi, Giga, Katanagatari and especially Tatami.
2/4 your favourite series are a 0/5
It was boring and not funny at all. The fights were kinda cool, but I didn't want to go through 26 episodes of the same shit.
Maybe in a while, it's been over a year since I dropped it though.
The artstyle creeped me out though.
Sorry, I don't like that type of music, I'm not black.
0/4 I'm sure your least favorites are 9/9
What are your least favorites?
She was just a moeblob throughout the whole series and wasted screen time at that. At the very least she deserved at least a more subtle character design. I still despite how they revolved 3 episodes for her in the 2nd season.
>Sorry, I don't like that type of music, I'm not black.
XDDDDD kill yourself you fucking retarded tripfag cunt
How does it feel to not have personal taste?
>What are your least favorites?
I'm not sure. By heart I'd say Freedom OVA, Garden of Words, Ghost in the Shell 2.0, Denpa Teki, Dead Man Wonderland, Gantz, Code Geass and Another.
Not sure about the ninth. Maybe Rahxephon or Kite Liberator.
nice pretentious taste fegget. 0/6
Top lel. A-core as fuck
2/9 Wow so deep.
Did you not watch Spirited Away ot did you dislike it? If you haven't watched it go do it, if you dislike it you are faggots.
Are you the ones he rated badly? Came back for revenge?
>Sorry, I don't like that type of music, I'm not black.
Stop the samefagging you retard. Spirited Away is just a hipster kids movie.
I'm not the same anon. It was a great movie, and it's not even hipster taste, almost everyone I know likes it. That's no reason to hate it.
SA is shit.
Ah, in that case 2/3
I hated it.
Do you really think it's shit? Why do you say things you dislike are shit? It was much better than Totoro and Ponyo, maybe not on the same level as Ghibli's older films, but shit?
That and Fireflies (which was pretty good) were the only Ghibli films I've seen. I was really hyped for it after dozens of nerds telling me it would be good, but it was nothing more than a mediocre kids movie, and watching something like that by yourself just feels stupid, so I didn't really have an enjoyable experience.
I looked it up. Replace the last two with Kokoro Connect and Coppelion.
Ponyo was actually one of my favourite Ghibli movies. But I love them all, expect maybe Porco Rosso and Howl's Moving Castle.
3/5, Coppellion was really bad.
Considering this is a hated 3x3, is that liked/seen or hated/seen?
Nerds told you to watch it? It's the most widely known Ghibli movie, besides maybe Tonari no Totoro, so I would expect them to reccomend Mononoke or Nausicaa.
I just use nerds to refer to anyone, in this case I was talking about people on /a/.
That's weird, I've never seen anyone here reccomend Spirited Away, nor would I expect it.
3/3 what is top left ? i keep seing this anime in 3x3 thread
jpg doesn't support transparency and I don't want a 1MB+ png
>I don't want a 1MB+ png
What, do you store your images on floppys?
It takes longer for people to load it in the threads, that's all.
4/4. I really need to get familiar with Fukumoto's shit and I plan on starting LotGH some day.
6/6, what's the mid right? Other wise excellent taste in Kon movies. Mind Game is another one of my favorites as well.
6/6. NHK is something that I need to finish as well, same with Psycho Pass. Planetes, Cromartie, Madoka, and Baccano are amongst my favorites.
5/5. I need to finish PSG and start up Akagi someday.
7/7. Mid and mid right are the only movies on here I haven't seen.
7/7. I knew that I wasn't the only /a/non who has seen Tamala. It's a great movie I rarely hear people talking about. Excellent taste.
Why have two 3x3s if one of them mixes mediums? Might as well do three of them, or only one.
But putting stuff like LoGH or Giant Robo that has the length of a series together with 20 minute long OVAs is even more stupid
>hating Honey & Clover
Fucking shit show.
Kotoura-san was more of a complete miss by the anime not to follow the source material.
Lain is a mix bag with a nice concept.
School Days is only good for it's ending, kinda like Master of Martial Hearts but stupider.
I don't see why you'd hate penguindurumsomething (forgot name)
Followed your advice and made a (hopefully) better one.
A noticeable improvement.
The one with the eye is is Ideon: Be Evoked.
7/7 for movies
Been meaning to watch Tamala and Sword of the Stranger.
7/7 for anime as well
Haven't watched Eureka7 or Now and Then Here and There yet.
Oh wait you did this one now. I haven't watched Katanagatari yet either.
4/4 on manga
Haven't read Spiral, the Initial D manga, One Piece, Biscuit Hammer, or the Kenshin manga yet. Loved 20cb, SBR, and Punpun, need to catch up on Vinland Saga badly but I like it a lot.
>not bisexual master race
This is a good idea and I'm going to use it for the next thread.
>>101505685 0/0 Read Kodocha though
0/0 anime, reading GTO manga though
>>101506339 1/1 Generally don't watch many movies. Hard to decipher what movies though, anon.
>>101529490 2/6 Liked Honey and Clover and Penguindrum.
>>101529695 That's a lot of hate.
>>101536113 I am a fan of this 3x3.
+H&C and Yahari.
haven't made a new one, but take out genshiken and replace it with kino's journey.
Rate others to get rated, lazy niggers.
Just pointing out the rules.
OP, what if we started rating people not by their taste, but how well they didn't use stupid squares?
1/6 for the circle and the one with no distinct border
2/6 they are still 4 sided but nice job
bonus point for the titles
everyone else gets a 0/6
I'm joking about this of course, don't bother rating mine
Im this anon^^^
pic related is all the anime series I've seen, couple of stuff that isn't there is a bunch of childhood stuff, movies related to series in the pic, 5 centimeters per second, the place promised in our early days, little witch acedemia, and Gunsmith Cats
Are you telling me you have only seen 49 series (counting fucking inferno cop) and a few movies? why are you even on /a/?
I feel bad for seeing less than 300, what the hell are you doing here?
I assumed it was square, bad counting not bad math
You would like that wouldn't you.
/a/ is not a priority anymore, plus uni is tough.
still try to watch at least one new series each season though.
Right now its kill la kill
>shitty colors that don't blend
would not rate
I wasn't asking why you don't watch anime, I was asking why do you spend time on this site?
I wouldn't start posting on /g/ on my shitty computer or lurking /o/ while walking home
Sorry anon, I tried, Its hard to find art and colors that work, I even had to put a little white glow over the pictures to make the lines contrast enough
We beehive now? If you're going to try to be creative then at least pick a shape with symmetry.
>I wasn't asking why you don't watch anime, I was asking why do you spend time on this site?
>I wouldn't start posting on /g/ on my shitty computer or lurking /o/ while walking home
>preferring vertical and horizontal symmetry over 3 way rotational symmetry
I'm not crying anon, you just seem to be in the wrong place
nigga I've been on 4chan for the past 5 years, I've seen shit come and go, one doesn't need to watch all the series every season to have fun here.
you just need to be full of love for your waifu, and get ready to call someone's opinion shit.
So the answer is, "because you are a cool anon"
Sweet, happy you are here
Who is your waifu?
let's just say that I believe in polygamy
forgive me /a/...
nevermind I'm done, I wish I had a gif of a tab closing
im so sorry...
Best part of Omega. Too bad 99% of the rest of the show is shit.
mah nigga, haven't bothered with the show since the new arc started, I will sit down and finish it eventually though.
>those new armors
>I want Sonia to make me her bitch and make me lick all of her scars
>whatsherface from Trigun
Nigga, remove all the other garbage and have just her.
You almost have more girls than finished series
I wasn't aware Wrestlemania 13 was an anime.
Yeah man it's called Wannabes.
3/3, and I still need to see NieA_7...
I couldn't make a hate 3x3 because I just couldn't bring myself to make it good looking. And I can't make a shitty looking 3x3. It would also look like a generic troll chart full of popular stuff. It's just that what really grinds my gears is when an extraordinarily shit anime gets a lot of attention and praise or sets new trends. So it would be full stuff like OreImo, Angel Beats, or SAO.
Making a hate 3x3 would be pointless for me because I drop stuff I hate early on and avoid things that I know I would hate.
Anon that requested the 3x3 here, thanks it looks beautiful. I especially like the Azumanga Daioh picture.
Well I just had to use official art even if you requested fanart. Couldn't bring myself to not use Azuma, Urushibara, and Huke. If you've got any complaints feel free to throw them my way.
Don't want to sound ungrateful, but I don't like the GTO picture, and as for Kaiji, even though it looks great, I recall seeing a few other pictures which would look better (for example Kaiji smoking and looking through the window, or Kaiji being arrested by the cops and smiling)
But these are minor things, so no worries
These 3x3 threads are autistic as fuck
Like this? Good Onizuka art that would look good on there is pretty hard to come by.
That's a good thing.
Now it looks amazing. Thanks again. One last question - where do you find these pictures? Pixiv?
Yeah, pixiv, danbooru, and chan.sankaku mostly. And /a/ of course.
Thanks, I'll keep that in mind when making another 3x3 in the future on my own.
Is it possible to tell by this 3x3 which one my real one is?
+GTO P&S Mushi
+LoGH Eva FLCL
>Is it possible to tell by this 3x3 which one my real one is?
Maybe, you would just eliminate anything on the 3x3 you posted or the three others you rated that you didn't give a + for. If you isolate the ones that qualify, you'd probably have a good chance of guessing right.
But making a second 3x3 is dumb, so I won't bother.
Why is it dumb? These shows deserve to be posted aswell.
Just finished G Senjou no Maou, fuck that whole ending was great. This 3x3 is ordered from my least favorites to favorites
>shitting on Witchblade
>in b4 NOT MUH SARA
Have you read anything by 07th Expansion?
No, but I plan on playing Higurashi sometime
Are these really your favorites? I can't into Gundam or Macross but Night Raid and Okamikakushi were really just bland and forgettable. The other stuff on there I haven't seen looks mediocre at best.
Is that a troll chart?
What is the second row, first column?
The males part is brand new, if anybody has suggestions for image replacements, please say. Pixiv failed me with Hugh and Sugisaki, I can't believe it.
I like you.
...uh, 1/5. Funny how this goes. I didn't particularly dislike the rest, just...
Is this guy who looks like Sagara really Sagara?
3/3 if yes. Also, I really appreciate a 3x3 of gun-wielding crazies with one Chiyo-chichi in the corner.
wow, I can't believe this. I am not alone? And Mizu no Kotoba... 10/10 taste.
I will watch Kodocha one day... one day... it's too long for me.
Your taste is practically newfaggish after these several 3x3s... I don't particularly dislike it, tho. 4/4
I think it's stupid to separate ops from eds. But you get my commendations for Kiiro Vacances. The rest is more of a "good, but kind of meh" variety.
What is this 3x3 even about? Have you finished more than 50 shows? But you are on the right direction with Dog Days, Maria and Watashi... 4/8
You must be kidding. 3/7
Kimi ni Todoke only the first season, I hope. I feel like I've just forgotten bottom left, but I can't be arsed to google it. 5/7
This is my bigger version, if anyone is looking for recommendations or just wants to stare longingly at a grid of great taste. Or of course suggest recommendations, but there's a pretty high chance I'll have seen whatever is thrown at me.
You.... you glorious bastard
Speaking of cats, I finally got around to watching Those Who Hunt Elves
Frankly, for now I am loving it even more than Nuku Nuku.
I should make a cats 3x3
>go to mal.oko.im
>sort list by score difference
>copy last 9
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood 5 -4.22
Sekaiichi Hatsukoi 4 -4.29
Maria-sama ga Miteru 3 -4.58
Ano Natsu de Matteru 3 -4.81
Hidan no Aria 2 -5.21
Ai Yori Aoshi 2 -5.31
Chuu Bra!! 1 -5.45
Accel World 2 -5.85
Kanokon 1 -5.93
4/7, dunno why you like Alien Nine. It was pretty bad.
>Prince of Darkness
is this a hate 3x3? the rest I can imagine somebody liking them, but to go out of your way to use an image from the FILM instead of from the tv series...
>SW, Angel Beats, Mirai Nikki, K-ON
the rest is okay to good.
Genshiken? That's rare, nice.
You are way too new for these threads. Still, not a bad taste for a start.
You've done goofed with the image quality. I don't feel like rating you now.
Wow, top left looks exactly like Princess Princess. But Princess Princess is actually kind of funny. And with FukuJun for the main character.
2/4 + Bebop, Baccano - Outlaw Star, Bartender
What about a currently airing 3x3?
Assuming you're watching 9 or more shows.
>implying there are 9 at least acceptable shows any season
>implying most of what we watch is not trash
For manga, sure? But definitely not for anime.
>past 5 years
5 years isn't shit
I could probably do that for anime I hated, but not enjoyed.
Maybe if you asked 7+ years ago
Bear, can you just read some Romeo Tanaka already?
Also I hope you understand that having KS on your 3x3 is equivalent to having Avatar the Last Airbender on your anime 3x3. Or something like that. I respect that it's a nice piece of work though.
Anyway it looks like I'm too late to take place in this "making 3x3 threads more fun" thread, but I'll look forward to next time. It would be killer if everyone actually talked about each other's charts like I always try to do, instead of (or in addition to) just posting numbers/9.
That's silly. I'm only watched 13 shows this season, and there aren't any really great ones besides Asukara and Diamond.
I liked the 2013 3x3s though
I've read Cross Channel and Yume Miru Kusuri. I liked YMK, Nekoko a best. CC was horrible.
3.5/5, I heard from my friend that Yuno was good but it was longer than any VN he had ever played before.
Also the artstyle really puts me off
Ok, fine, I can't force you to have g̶o̶o̶d my taste. At least your anime taste is pretty much good now.
I really disliked Taichi, his actions and his background. All very anger inducing. I didn't like most of the girls, but Touko was really good, and so was Miki. Sakuraba was my favorite character, his voice was cool.
My anime taste will always be perfect~
Are you the guy with the jellyfish on your 3x3?
GTO anime was lack-luster compared to the manga.
who's that little guy down in the right corner? looks interesting.
Never could get into Trigun, not even as a little gullible kid.
Catsoup made me feel dirty and confused.
"Crying-Freeman" now that's oldschool
8/9 excellent taste - GTO
7/7 not bad
His taste is as shitty as it ever was. He just added some sports on his 3x3 which might make him seem more acceptable. It's just an illusion though. For evidence look at his most hated chart or his posts where he's incapable of expressing his opinion besides 'it's shit' or 'it's good'.
Yes, that's me. I'm trying to make a "first 9 anime" 3x3 to play that "guess what happened next" game described above, although it's probably a little too late to post it in this thread. The suggestion jumped out at me because I just so happen to have kept a chronologically ordered list of all the anime I have ever watched, so I actually know my first nine anime accurately. I also have a somewhat interesting history in that I never watched anime before my adolescent internet days--so it won't include Pokemon or DBZ or any of those Cartoon Network type things.
This has to be my longest living thread, holy shit.
I don't know, I put it in my original 3x3 since it makes me nostalgia hard but everyone said it made me a troll/hipster so I took it off.
Eh, I used to feel that way about him, but I think his heart is in the right place. You're somewhat right in that I'm mostly sympathizing with him because of the sports, but the important thing about those additions is that they show that he is actually growing and maturing as a viewer.
Not everyone is gifted with the talent for literary criticism, whether to author it or merely consume it, but everyone has to make due with what he does have.
>everyone said it made me a troll/hipster so I took it off.
Yes! submit to peer pressure! your taste is shit.
Where's your 3x3 so I can shit on it?
That maturing should be done on his own time, not through /a/. Getting all your anime taste from /a/ is a terrible thing in the first place and having to suffer through his annoying newfag phase in its entirety as a tripfag is really annoying.
Wait, you are right. Is Hare nochi Guu the only good anime you like? Lodoss was pretty bad.
He's not really maturing as a viewer that much since his old opinions still stand strong and he still runs around opinionated while shouting pretty much nothing except 'it's shit' or 'I like it'. Of course one's critical ability can be developed and the more a person watches the more he will notice and be able to reflect upon. He'll get there eventually but meanwhile he doesn't need to be obnoxious about it. Have you ever tried to hols a conversation with him? He runs away with his tail between his legs after you try to argue your case and continue to spout the same shit in another thread.
Powerlevels in this thread are attrociously low
He's better than like two thirds of /a/ already at this point. But I wonder what your oh-so-enlightened taste is if you think /a/ is actually some kind of hive of mature anime viewers of mature anime (for mature viewers such as yourself).
Has anyone ever changed your mind about liking or disliking something you consumed, by talking to you about it? Like, if you hate mustard, could I talk you into liking it? How would you "defend" your distaste for it? There's not much you can do about it. If I really wanted you to like mustard, the best thing I could do for you would be to send you to Dijon or something and get you a really incredible meal with the finest mustards used in the most appropriate ways, and hope that you'd develop a taste for it once had it on something other than a rancid McDonalds cheeseburger.
Saraiya Goyou was cool too. It's got a pretty chill feeling to it and I really like Natsume Ono's artstyle.
Oh shit, I just realized I'm doing the "talk you in to liking mustard" thing! I shouldn't be trying to talk you in to accepting Bear. It's your right to be annoyed and not like something!
3x3 threads tend to attract beginner and intermediate level anime viewers who still believe in "masterpieces." A highly experienced viewer with well-developed, personal taste doesn't have that much to gain from these threads, for the very reason that his taste is personal. I just like to hang around here as a subversive little "fuck you" to the "cruelty to noobs" rule of /a/.
They are atrociously low in EVERY thread. Roughly half the people have no more than 150 watched series, or at least so showed the threads in which I was trying to guess everybody's powerlevel.
Yeah, it was pretty chill, but I dunno. It fell a little short of a truly good series. I'd guess the first half didn't really have anything to interest you in, so you are expected to like it solely on atmosphere... which is not a bad thing per se, but that atmosphere fell short of etc etc. I don't regret it, but I would not be rewatching this series if I can help it.
Take for example >>101573432 or >>101505685
They are indeed personal, more or less developed tastes. Still, I've seen only half of the series in each 3x3. This means just like that I have almost 10 more series to watch that I've not been paying attention to before because they rarely turn up in discussion.
Well in that case it's because it seems like everything on that 3x3 is aimed at one demographic, and it seems to be mostly the same genre, so if he doesn't like that genre or doesnt like shows that fit in that demographic then it wouldn't be hard to have seen 0 of those. But yeah these threads do have low powerlevels usually
Your mustard analogy is not a very good one since you can argue your case in anime besides saying 'it tastes good'. You can make a person see an anime's value even if he won't be able to enjoy or appreciate it. He can still be able to understand the appeal and value though. In Bear's case he will ignore anything you have to say and continue spouting his bullshit in the next thread pretending it's a fact. What's really the problem though is that he will never even try to argue his own case except using buzzwords or killing potential discussion with 'lol u mad nerd'.
Where'd you get any of that from what I said about Bear? It all comes down to him being an annoying tripfag who knows almost nothing about anime trying to push his opinions around like they mean something when he also can't even articulate himself well. Hell, he has fucking Katawa Shoujo on his VN list, that should say a lot more about him than anything I could say. I know most of /a/ is shit these days, but that doesn't make Bear any better. Also, your food analogy has some okay points, but when it comes down to it, anime, or just media in general, has much more you can discuss in terms of why you like or dislike something.
so, what are the demographic and genre you are talking about?
Excuse me, what is "wrong." This kind of rhetoric irks me, but it can't be helped...
I'm not sure what part of my observation of a general trend you disagree with. Most people in these threads have seen fewer than say, two or three hundred anime, and many have probably seen fewer than one hundred. That doesn't mean there aren't "highly experienced" viewers--I've been counting myself (justified or not) as one the whole time.
I dunno, you do sound kind of mad to me. Like you have a personal disagreement with him that you can't get past. But whatever, I've already acknowledged that it oughtn't be my job to change your mind about something like that.
Your points are fair and if I lashed out at you it was probably uncalled for. I'm not trying to defend Bear as a brilliant commentator or conversationalist, but unlike some of you, apparently, I find his presence amusing rather than challenging (or whatever you all seem to object to...). For what it's worth I already called him out about KS. I'd prefer his VN chart were better, but it's hard for anyone to have really played enough VNs to have good taste in them. I'm not really proud of my VN chart either. I haven't read a VN in more than two years, but I made the chart for fun and to spice things up even though I knew it would be below my usual standards. I take Bear's the same way.
And finally, if you think there isn't an absurd depth of commentary and criticism to be made about food, you underestimate the level of obsession people can develop for any interest. But this isn't a food forum, it's /a/, so of course I'd hope we'd have rather more to say about what makes anime good or bad than we would about mustard.
I think he just assumed they would all be part of the same grouping because they were all pictures of cute girls in a bubbly art style. Still, there are people who seem to totally abhor "little girl" shows, and a lot of them seem to congregate in these threads.
>Excuse me, what is "wrong."
I missed reading the word "that" in
>A highly experienced viewer with well-developed, personal taste doesn't have that much to gain from these threads
Highly experienced viewers do have what to gain, and sometimes it's even more than inexperienced viewers, as often you simply don't know what to watch next, and choosing by random leaves you most of the time with shit series.
>Still, there are people who seem to totally abhor "little girl" shows, and a lot of them seem to congregate in these threads.
If abhorring "little girl" shows is anybody's reason to skip watching Kyouran Kazoku Nikki, I need to become a serial murderer.
>often you simply don't know what to watch next
If you are truly "experienced" than anything watched by a "beginner" should hopefully be something you are at least familiar with. But the discussion, the demographics, etc. that you can learn about in these threads can still be interesting to "experienced viewers," certainly. And of course there are those who are experienced in only a few particular genres, or something, who might want exposure to something else.
>If abhorring "little girl" shows is anybody's reason
Hey, I'm always one for encouraging "diversity of taste." I don't think anybody should stick too firmly in a small set of genres or styles--there's enough out there that I think anyone can find two wildly different things both of which they like. So I always encourage people to branch out from "Accepted" best-ofs and try appreciating a "diverse array," and I try to praise those who I see doing that.
>everything on that 3x3 is aimed at one demographic, and it seems to be mostly the same genre
And that's where you're wrong. You are part of the problem, Bear. Your powerlevel is just too low.
>If you are truly "experienced" than anything watched by [...]
More like, besides the 50% people with less than 150 series watched, there are also 5% with 500+ series watched. These 5% are the interesting ones.
>Hey, I'm always one for encouraging "diversity of taste."
Fuck diversity of taste, KKN is a masterpiece that can not and should not be labeled as a "little girl" show. Also, everybody should watch and love it. I am only half joking. I mean, imagine such a perfect world where everybody likes KKN... isn't it wonderful?
Glad someone else understands the excellence of KKN
You gotta branch out and watch more stuff man
I've probably watched a shitload more than you have.
This is my 3x3 of personal favorites, not display cabinet of how many different series I've seen.
Yeah, I really have to point out that the contents of that 3x3 are a lot more "obscure" than most that get posted here. It's not stuff that would make it on every "top 10 animes" youtube video or whatever. So I have a feeling that guy has actually seen a decent amount of anime.
If you couldn't find people understanding these simple truths even here, there would be no reason for us to stay here, in the end.
Be more specific, what should he watch? Scifi? Fantasy? Social commentary? What? Because his chart seems to be lacking only in edginess.
He's already seen the deepest show of all time though.
I hate this powerlevel trend I've seen lately in these threads.
What, you mean the hypocrisy of telling other people how shit their taste is when they themselves have low powerlevels? /a/'s been like that for years
>Any other ideas to spice up these threads?
Yes, posting the fucking names of all the anime in the pic or in your post. to often, I see an Anon with good taste have a title that seems interesting, but its either
>what's 3x2 name
>>fuck you google search
or not asking because it's a pain in the ass.
If a title seems interesting, you'll need to google it anyway. It's just a little bit more of an effort to image search instead of title search it. Also, you are a faggot.
I'm more talking about those anons with 1xxx watched series who think they have a better and more developed taste than anons with less than 500 series. Just look around MAL and you see that this isn't true.
I don't even think any of the posters here have seen over 1000 series. I'd put some of the people at 700-800, but I doubt even they are above 1k.
But yeah, when you've seen trice more series, your taste is at least twice more developed.
Yeah I feel like after a certain point the pure number of shows seen doesn't really mean much. There's tons of plebs with a huge number of shows under their belt. Their taste is the same as when they were new to anime and they don't even remember half the filler shit they've seen. It's not necessarily more refined or personal. If you really dig deep into the hobby that's an entirely different matter.
I think experience in other mediums also has an huge influence about how developed your taste in anime is, though.
You guys bring up a good point. In general I'm more likely to expect someone with a large amount of experience under his belt to have good taste, but there are certainly mouthbreathers who manage to watch a lifetime worth of anime without learning anything about how to be a thoughtful viewer.
And that's where the point about other media comes in. I do believe that someone who has a strong background in film or literature will be well suited to developing the skills to become a good critic of anime. But of course that doesn't always happen either.
Oh, that is true, indeed.
But I can't imagine watching 1000+ anime series without reading enough books / watching enough films in the meantime. Devoting your entire pasttime only to anime seems boring as hell.
Seeing 1000+ anime and having an extensive background in other forms of fiction requires quite the dedication, but yeah, that's the path towards becoming a true animu patrician. I'd say you're more likely to see people with 1000+ shows who don't really spend much time on other hobbies. Most Japanese otaku probably have incredible powerlevels and we all know how bad their tastes are.
To the people with 1000+ anime watched: about how many shows would you say are legitimately good and worth watching (3x3-worthy)? Even with my puny powerlevel, I feel like I've largely exhausted the pool of shows of the genres I like.
The thing is that most people I've met with 1000+ powerlevel also basically don't like anime anymore. So they're naturally invested in not only other forms of consumption, but other forms of fulfillment entirely (research, workmanship, career, etc.).
The guy with pic related as 3x3 has 1500+ watched series. Also, every Friday evening gathers friends to watch western horror movies with. I personally dislike horror movies, though.
Really? Burning out seems to happen more with people with 100-200 watched series than people with >1000, in my own experience.
>To the people who have watched 1000+ anime, how many shows do you think are 3x3 worthy
A novel approach to the tried and true 3x3: manga edition.
I've only watched about half that many, but I can tell you this. There are only about maybe 50 anime series (not counting movies and such of which there are dozens more) that I would absolutely recommend to everyone, but if you were to watch all those, I would hope that by that point you would have begun to identify preferences, and once you had an idea of things you like or didn't like, I'd be able to recommend dozens more titles more specifically tailored to you.
In general I would say you should expect to find between 1 in 10 and 1 in 4 anime series you watch to be "very good"--if you like more than that then you are probably still in the stage of watching mainly those that constitute the "50 good ones," and if fewer than that, well, why are you even watching anime if you hate it?
Now THIS is podracing.
Check Bears 3x3
If you guys knew how good a show would be beforehand, and you knew if it would be a 10/10 for you, a 9/10 for you etc, would you still watch shows you would consider to be 6/10s or 7/10s and below? Even if it meant stuff you could watch is basically cut in 50, would you?
Bear hasn't seen that many anime. Still more than you might expect, though.
Again; there are no such people here.
I am with 500-600 too, and I can say that I definitely do not regret watching ~400 of these (counted by MAL). But, then again, I am good at finding the viewpoint from which a given series would be most entertaining, so this doesn't say much. From these series numbering 100-200 are these which I often feel like rewatching, or like showing it to somebody who has not seen it yet.
You underestimate what is to have some silly stupid show to watch while you are cooking or eating. 6/10 and 7/10 shows hold a vital importance in my everyday life.
I have. Nearly at 2K actually (about 1800ish) I'm >>101573432 and >>101573499 by the way.
Many. Just watch them all and decide for yourself. The best shows aren't necessarily those with the 'hipster' appeal or the merit of having excellent direction and a star-studded cast.
But only 9 of them will be 3x3 worthy, of course.
Sure. Any sort of self imposed restriction that limits variety is pretty crazy to me, even if it's drawling a line in the sand saying "I will only watch things that I will fall in love with, all others be damned".
It seems like people with huge powerlevels seem to fall into limited niches as far as their tastes go. Their charts will be entirely filled with mecha or in your case apparently weird super genki comedy featuring little girls with certain common aesthetic characteristics.
This, it's pretty fucking odd
>weird super genki comedy featuring little girls with certain common aesthetic characteristics.
Try watching the series before you comment
Ahahaha I fucking knew it! I knew you'd have some crazy powerlevel. But still, "little girl shows out of nine."
You are a faggot.
Which ones don't fit the description?
Kyouran Kazoku Nikki
Akihabara Dennou Gumi
I like Mecha a lot too but I was never a fan from the beginning.
Do you have a mal or some way of keeping track of all this? How long have you been watching for?
I haven't seen/read ToHeart because frankly it sounds like complete dogshit so you might have an exception there. Kyouran Kazoku Nikki is pretty high on my backlog but I thought it would fall in the crazy comedy category. Am i wrong? And even with exceptions I think the 3x3 generally fits the bill of that description.
I like mecha too but I don't have my entire favorites list filled with it exclusively.
just a textfile that has been modified, copied and moved around over years. I tried to import all my watched anime into anime-planet a few years ago but got bored at 600.
ToHeart is eroge harem adaption done correctly without going too heavy on atmosphere or character drama. It's likeable, it doesn't try at being 'relaxing' it just is. Changed a lot in the world of eroge too, set the standard for moege today.
Kyouran Kazoku Nikki is a crazy comedy but it's not about little girls, only one features. Kyouka-sama is not a girl.
Having 6/9 shows fit a particular genre/demographic isn't showing much change. And those 3 also look a lot like the others
I think the similarities in "appearance" were intentional. He picked a picture of a cute girl being happy for every series as the visual theme of the chart. That doesn't mean that everything on it has the same tone.
I keep a textfile too, but occasionally I will set up a profile on one of those websites as well. I tend to abandon them after a while though because I don't want to have to keep carrying ratings I gave years ago that I don't agree with anymore. If you archive, you can use e.g. the anidb client to scan your files and create an online list for you. Anidb supports exporting to an XML format which can be imported by both MAL and Anime-Planet. I mostly just find that useful for keeping track of which series I've already seen when I'm browsing AniDB though--it highlights entries you've already marked in a different color.
It's also useful for checking which version of a series I have--for instance, I can pull up a series and look at the files released: if I see that the file I have is marked as a DVD rip, but a Bluray rip is available now, I might consider changing it (if it's something I really like, say).
I don't really see your problem. This guy seems to like mostly comedies, preferably of the crazy variety.
It's okay to like mostly comedies, imo. What cannot be counted as a comedy is usually a tearjerker made for idiots. I personally find Vitamin C alone more touching than the whole Clannad series. So I will take the comedy/drama over the pure drama any day of the week.
And the best comedies are of the crazy variety. That's a well-known fact.
Well you can say what you want, but if you watched those shows you'd know the demographics are not at all the same and the genres are different too.
Is it only me, or it's possible to fit any show whatsoever in such a chart, and still keep up the similarity in "appearance"?
I think I tried to pick my favorite characters and then gave up
I thought you guys were overhyping Mushishi, but holy fuck I'm enjoying this. It's a lot better than I thought.
It's not possible in shows with no female characters, or with a distinctive artstyle that doesn't match that "theme." Like Kaiji or something.
No man, let this thread die, and then we can have another one tomorrow in which I can post the fun "first anime" 3x3 I made today.
H-How can you tell I'm saging? What sorcery is this?
Uh, this is stupid but that's not me posting "bump" there or earlier. Just somebody doing it with my name. Don't ask me why they're doing it. ┐('～`；)┌
Stop pretending to be me
