Just started watching Hajime no Ippo, I'm at episode 5 right now. What does /a/ think of it?
Hajime no Ippo thread
It starts pretty slow. I remember watching the first 10 or so episodes and dropping it for a year, then I picked it back up and marathoned till New Challenger and I've gotta say its in my top10 now.
The new season is going pretty well, and aside from some unrealistic comebacks I think anyone that enjoys sports or anime aimed at a shonen demographic will enjoy it very much.
>What does /a/ think of X
Worst serious way to start a thread.
marathoned all the seasons a few weeks back and caught up on it.
/a/ doesnt really talk about ippo on here too much
What did you think of it?
>/a/ doesnt really talk about ippo on here
There's lots of Ippo threads, usually tied to the manga chapters though, because the manga is so far beyond the anime that it's not even funny. The number of non-animated chapters is bigger than most long running manga ever live.
I enjoyed it a lot the comedy in the show is a big one for me and the fights are good but they drag on with the whole fighting spirit thing.
Its what you'd get in a typical sports anime though.
it's a well-paced manga once you get past the beginning but let's be honest it's an unbelievable jap circle jerk that's not believable in reality. i don't think a single person actually roots for ippo or takamura to win because we know they can't lose to a non-jap.
even the lesser jap characters will be world champs by series end. there are already 2 (volg and takamura) and takamura is going to win at every single weight class up the ladder before the series ends. it's garbage.
>based in Japan
>surprised that the main characters are Japs
>surprised that they win
Are you autistic?
>writes "jap" instead of Japanese multiple times
>implying not buttmad as fuck
If this were set in any other country, it would be the same, just the characters would be that countries nationality.
Stop being silly.
Not you idiot, the person you're replying to.
Quote the right person next time then.
He was talking to you though, pointing out that you were trying to argue with somebody who could only be described as "buttmad".
I still enjoy the manga. It really sucks if you read it weekly but it's great if you catch up once every year or two.
I guess some of the fights are dumb though, but overall it's still really enjoyable. Especially the "slice of life" chapters.
Aoki and Kimura never fucking wins though
