>Before I die alone
>Let me have vengeance
>Before I die alone
>I will have vengeance
You have to learn to let things slide. All that anger is bad for your health.
>Implying that Guts will actually succeed.
You faggots and your false hope.
Sorry, Bro. You're going to die ,while watching me banging your girlfriend for the second time.
at least Kamina died and passed his dreams to a kid, Guts on the other hand will be cancelled by Miura because idolm@ster
Yeah, just look what happened to this poor bastard, just because he couldn't cope with his problems and relax.
Then he learned to let go, threw away the old him and everything else that was holding him back. Now he's a rock star, his fans treat him like the freakin' messiah. A shining light for all mankind, rehabilitating the wretched and the damned, and making unicorns real. What a swell guy.
This is now a thread not about being stuck in the past, but people that have moved beyond that and made something of themselves.
Oh Drastic my soul tashikametai
Ima koko ni ikiru imi wo
Drastic my self motto kooku
Ukai yami tsukinukete
I BELIEVE IN DRASTIC MY SOUL
I believe in drastic my soul
Just marathonned Berserk. Clipped some reactions from it and here's as good a place as any to dump a few.
I'm disappointed that we'll never see Mozgus animated, his facial expressions are fucking amazing
>what a swell guy
Yeah plunging the world into darkness is so great. Oh and then he plunged the world into fantasy which is arguably worse since all the monsters aren't limited to coming out only at night anymore.
Every retarded face Casca makes and every stupid sound she blurts out makes me mad. I hope if they ever get off the boat and arrive at fairy island the elf king says "lol can't cure retard, want me to put her out of her misery?"
But there's a hydra right behind them
Plus, Unicorns are basically really pissed off horses with horns on their heads, they're not fun at all
Yeah like Guts did when he set out for elf island, if anything Griffith is going to be the one to make Guts come back to midland.
Unicorn blood is a potent toxin as well.
But on the plus side their fur is silky as fuck.
Tch, why you gotta focus on the negative? You're just as bas as OP. I'm telling you not to sweat the small stuff.
Like trolls, harpies, hydras and fucking dragons?
I'll admit it's a bit of a fixer upper, but think of the ADVENTURE! Before all you had to look forward to was crushing poverty, black plague, and foreign invasion, and you still sort of do, but now you might wake up to a bunch of elves fixing your shoes, or you might catch a talking fish that grants wishes, or you couldbeeatenbyagrue how exciting!
Wow, thanks Griffith.
I sure hope you don't turn out to be a demonic entity or anything, that would be kind of a bummer.
That's ridiculous. If I was the demon tainted son of my best friend and the literal antichrist come to fulfill an ancient prophecy of eternal darkness, I'm pretty sure I'd know. Now you go play with those unicorns. Or don't. They're cute from a distance but they have a tendency to tear anyone who isn't a non-virgin maiden apart or maybe not, I forget, nevermind, forget it go have fun.
>Implying it won't end with Guts dying while Griffith rapes both Casca and the moonchild.
Isn't the moonchild linked with Griffith?
is the moonchild also the fetus stalking guts in the first volume?
>Guts knocks Caska up
>Femto taints the fertilized egg
>Caska plops out a supernatural mutant that can appear and disappear at will and has power over spirits and other phenomenon
>Griffith starts popping up again here and there. When Cascatard sees him she reacts the same way she does to the mutant baby. Griffith protects her on instinct.
>Time passes. The Egg Apostle finds the freak baby after it's run out of juice and takes it into himself. The baby is reborn from the egg as the whole world becomes a sacrifice and begins its metamorphosis.
>An adorable toddler suddenly appears. Once again, Casca reacts to it the same way she did freak baby. Like freak baby it seems to appear and disappear at will and has some connection to spirits and the supernatural.
>Griffith starts appearing WAAAAAY more often and doing lots of stuff. Puts the finishing touches on turning the world into fairytale Fantasia. Creates his own legendary utopia where he gets to be king. Dream status: Achieved.
>Meanwhile on the boat, the magic toddler continues to stalk Guts and Casca and be veeeery mysterious.
Draw your own conclusions. I think that toddler is Griffith's mortal vessel AND Guts and Casca's magic son. Like a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde sort of deal.
So to kill Griffith, Guts is going to have to kill his own son?
Seems to be lining up that way, but considering how Schierke can enter people's minds or souls or whatever, they might just be able to exercise Femto from the kid and thus banish Griffith back to the plane that the Godhand inhabit that way. Or something. I wish the plot would friggin' move so I could get a fresh sense of where they're going with this.
Well however things turn out, that kid seems to be the string that will forever tie Guts to Griffith, and vice versa. Even if Guts tries to stop hunting his white whale, the child will always be drawn to its parents.
I wouldn't be surprised if the little rascal absconded back to Falconia with Casca right before they reach Elfhelm (Alfheim?) Wouldn't that be a kick in the pants? Poor old Guts, never gonna get a break.
That's the elf king you guys
I'd bet money it ain't. Not that either of us will ever have to pay up at this rate. Well, maybe after Gigantomachia is finished. I ain't holdin' my breath though.
Reread the last couple of volumes, all of them directly state it is the elf king. That fetus is now
Griffith's reborn vessel
Griffith has everything he ever wanted but something tells me that he'll become obsessed with Guts again.
>Reread the last couple of volumes
I'll do that. The rugrat appears in Volume 28. Will amateur scans of everything from that point until the current chapter be sufficient? I only have Dark Horse up to Volume 24.
Griffith or the God Hand are going to turn Fantasia into a slaughter house
There is no way Guts could kill Femto.
I think "good old pal Griffith" will take more control than the other side (Femto) and kill himself.
The interplay between Guts and Schierke is adorable. I know people pine for the gritty visceral grimdark of Black Swordsman and Conviction, but I like this. It humanizes the current Guts, and lowers my guard slightly.
Yes, I doubt the Godhand won't all want to play in Griffemto's new garden. Slann's already started. My bet is anyone NOT in Falconia is royally fucked right off the bat. Those living within Falconia, well...we'll see.
I'm thinking this as well. A super eclipse to bring about the age of the Godhand.
Guts is getting there, He's seriously went from not being able to beat Griffith to making him look like a bitch, to killing an apostle, surviving the eclipse, then goes apostle hunting, matches blade for blade against Zodd, Manages to slay a Slan in her little psuedo form, and as of now he is strong enough to kill any apostle in the new band of the hawk.
He may not be able to kill a Godhand yet, but he is getting there. Hell Skull Bro is already there.
Heavy foreshadowing here. Casca wants to stay a retard. Guess she doesn't want to come to terms with what happened to the Band of the Hawk. What happened to her.
> but I like this. It humanizes the current Guts, and lowers my guard slightly.
So how are you guys liking Gigantomakhia?
Well, Puck doesn't seem very comfortable discussing the King here. Seems less like he doesn't know the King and more like he just isn't fond of him.
When it was just Casca they couldn't really communicate, and she doesn't like him, so the interplay between the two is slightly limited by that. The way he and Schierke play off of each other can be pretty cute.
The only reason Guts is killing increasingly powerful foes is because of a fragile combination of armor that is killing him, loli witch magic to keep him from going insane from battle lust, and fairy magic to sew him back together after he's broken his bones and lost most of his blood. It's been awhile since Guts could face enemies by his own strength and battle prowess alone. He's just a mortal man, and each battle is breaking him down more and more.
Which Berserk arc is best?
I just posted >>101503568
honestly I think it's the best I've read. I finished the Schierke arc and dropped in several years ago, re-reading and catching up now.
Is there a new chapter?
I only read the first
Wow more fanservice, just what I needed after Berserk.
Dude, they're REALLY playing up the connection between Casca's child and the moon kid here. They couldn't imply this any heavier without saying it outright. I'll be patient though and keep reading.
The plague arc showed how shit their World really is.
Why would that happen though?
The big theme of Berserk is "follow your dreams bro" (at least for Griffith).
How does that fit in his fantasy kingdom?
And why would the M.O. of the God Hand suddenly change with Falconia in the picture?
Humanity wants a reason for suffering -> Idea of Evil call center listening -> go go god hand kill a few people.
I think it's a juxtaposition between two things actually.
Every single time after Guts fights he becomes stronger and stronger as a fighter, however you are right he is getting a lot of help. But to give you an example.
Guts fights giant elephant sea monster for the first time, he goes berserk and kills it after normal tactics don't work. Second time he fights it, he kills it without so much as even hinting at awakening his hellhound. With every battle Guts inner demon and strength grow, but his humanity and body are torn apart. It's an odd predicament
Further it's during the island of the sea god after they kill it they say he's actually king of the elves
>lol can't cure retard
Despite sounding stupid as fuck it made me chuckle
Oh, I'll fast forward to boat arc then. Thanks.
Griffith got his dream by sacrificing those close to him to demons who enjoy suffering and all those emotions that go with it, the God Hand aren't exactly creatures with strong morals which makes me believe that if they so wanted to they could influence Femto to hurt more people, add the fact that half of Femto's army are demons/creatures they can kill a lot of soldiers are also residing in the same place as humans, it's a timebomb waiting to go off.
There's also the fact nothing good happens in Berserk World ever.
Well shit, now I want to re-read Berserk. Don't suppose anyone knows a spot I can grab the official DH translations and not the brain-dead Hawks one?
Are there manga out there that rival Berserk in art quality? Any of them worth a read? Miura's art is like %80 responsible for why I took classes in high school
I think it's being implied that living on the edge of the normal world and the supernatural has had an effect on Gut's ability to fight, pushing him far beyond normal human limits, plus his sword has killed so many apostles that it's almost magic just on its onwn
I don't know anyone drawing just the same but I think Junji Ito, Suehiro Maruo and Hiroaki Samura are artistic.
That depends on what you put into "good" art. Imo. the rRemake of OPM has godly art. Very detailed, and never betraying its own style.
Is there anything manga or anime that capture the mystery/horror of a entities similar to the God Hand?
Daisuke Igarashi also has a similar but more feminine style.
Does anybody else feel like Skull Knight's botched assassination of Femto with the Sword of Resonance seem to be the ultimate demonstration that Guts has no hope of ever killing Griffith? A man with centuries to prepare for attacking a God Hand, he had the perfect opportunity, and the right tool for the job. But he fucked up as bad as it's possible to fuck up.
none that I can think of
Here it is. That's a lot of maybes, but they wouldn't put it out there for no reason. You're probably right, but I'm still a bit suspect that Puck had no reaction to the kid.
Thanks for the reminder. I really hope Miura continues the story soon.
That's a bummer; one of the reasons I love Berserk so much was just the lore/build up of God Hand. I want to know more about all the members but this is Gut's story.
as someone who's currently just finishing Schierke's introduction arc, I'm wondering what the hell their motive even is. What are they doing? What do they want?
The God Hand aren't mysterious, if you've read the Idea of Evil chapter.
they serve the idea of evil
The whole series has been one massive series of failures for everyone good in the series, and God is evil and hates them.
The ending either going to be;
>"Yes I'm serious. No, there will be no happy ends. Guts will die alone, in a pool of his friends blood like he was destined to do".
>Finally, at the very end switches to the more cliche route of fighting destiny and overcoming the odds. Only, this time we've truly seen just what that entails. It'll be earned, the hard way
We're looking at a bittersweet conclusion at best, but I'm okay with that frankly.
You know, this is all assuming Berserk will actually reach an ending before the author tops himself because of >tfw no gf
They're giving everyone what they want. Apparently.
Was the Idea of Evil chapter really retconned?
If not, why would there be an Idea of Evil. but no analogue Idea of Good?
Who needs girlfriends, if you can have Idols?
>tfw no qt idol gf
Not retconned, but hidden away again because it apparently gave away too much of the plot early on and the author only realized this when it was too late.
So technically, it's not canon anymore and anything could change, but we suspect not.
Back the fuck up.
What did he turn into before he jumped into the "torrent"?
Forget the non canon chapter.
Until we see it again in a future chapter that will only be a dream.
>canon becomes headcanon, chapters never come out
Truly Berserk is suffering in all aspects.
it was never in an actual volume
That isn't implying a connection, it's just a clever way of letting you into Guts' head for a moment. Seeing them together reminds him of everything he's been through and everything he's lost. Or are you saying that Pippin was actually Donovan all along because of this panel?
People generally don't try to find some deep reason why they're so lucky and why their life is so totally awesome. IoE exists because people need to explain away the bad stuff. And since nobody really questions the good stuff, the equivalent Idea of Good has no reason to exist.
Because the Idea of Evil isn't evil. Angels and Demons being the same thing has been a running theme for a while in Berserk, and from what I've gathered about the Idea of Evil is that even though it's born of human suffering, its purpose is to give meaning to that suffering. So far its only goal has been to give mankind what they subconsciously desire.
