Why do people consider one punch man good when it has a bigger gary stu than SAO?
Because he isn't boring and bland like the MC in SAO
report and ignore
it's that easy
Because he isn't a angsty little faggot
Nobody considers OPM good.
I don't think you understand what gary stu means.
Overpowered ability =/= Gary Stu
Because Saitama isn't an angsty little faggot
The author intentionally sets up the main character as an unstoppable force that wins every fight to comedic effect. Most of his enemies are drawn to ridiculous levels of detail while he's crudely drawn. His character flaw is that he's too good at what he does, and thus has difficulty relating to the public and other heroes. The story sets up his overpowered ability immediately and so we have enough suspension of disbelief to enjoy the story.
In SAO, Kirito manages to win the affection of every girl around him. Despite being physically crippled and barely able to walk, he's able to defeat knife wielding attackers in real life. He overturns all the established rules set by the author and survives brain microwaving to win a team based game by himself. This causes the character to go beyond the suspension of disbelief required to make a piece of fiction enjoyable.
Because he's bald
He isn't a tryhard for starters.
This. OPM is a very refreshing take on what a protagonist's story should be. There is no, second wind, no duece-ex ally or power up. You know he is the strongest. He knows he is the strongest. There is lots of comedy that makes it even more appealing.
Also, I'd like to point out the fact that the author isn't afraid to draw homosexual characters. Is that a new thing going on? I feel toriko characters get very intimate. Not necessarily as a couple (thought it could happen, especially after the time skip), but just they way they act around each other. The author of Toriko isn't afraid to portray his characters being emotional and caring for another character of the same gender.
OPM doesn't really take itself seriously.
Isn't Saitama like not even in the top tier of power levels in his world?
Officially, no. When he took his power ranking test, they factored in a written test as well. He completely flunked that, which brought his level way down.
People are just now starting to figure out how strong he really is.
I can't believe someone actually responded seriously to this.
It's not popular
OPM is parody.
SAO is not.
Well let's see
>Superior art and design
>Superior MC who isn't an angsty little turd
>Better fanbase than SAO(this will soon change)
>The plot isn't complete garbage
It's not a Gary Stu if it doesn't take itself seriously.
It's just comedy.
Because I always thought if character was so powerful why didn't he just beat the bad guys with one punch? OPM solves this problem. He's like Kenshiro x 2.
>Also, I'd like to point out the fact that the author isn't afraid to draw homosexual characters. Is that a new thing going on?
Well, no. It has been done, especially in shonen series, for a while now.
One Piece(the okamas), Gurren Lagann(Leeron), FMA(Winrys automail boss), Bleach(that lesbian chick who is into orihime, and that arrancar guy, though he never admitted to be gay), HxH(Hisoka) etc.
There is even a popular manga with an official gay couple(Naruto/Sasuke)
Sensui was also gay.
