KyoAni's failed attempt at making something serious and it turned to moeshit
It was incredibly bland. I mean, Kyoto Animation, bland, you're like "what an observation." But it was even more tepid than usual.
Another well drawn piece of shit from Kyoanus
I can't be assed to watch the last three episodes.
Visually, it looked great. The kyoani animators pulled their weight.
In terms of writing and characters, utter shit.
Was decent enough until the ending.
One of the better fall shows. Entertaining, though not very rememberable. Kinda shitty ending, superb animation.
Another polished KyoAni show with no footprint left behind once its over. I can't really complain if KyoAni is going to keep making these seasonal fantasy/romances, cause they're sweet and enjoyable while they last. It's good filler to balance out a season.
It looked really good, like everything KyoAni does, but the other aspects of the execution were a little disappointing. I mean, there was an interesting world and characters, but they just didn't do anything great with it. I felt like the show was going in one direction, and then the creative team would keep stepping in and moving the show back into the mold of KyoAni's usual style.
Then what does it say about your series, when the one of the best episodes was basically filler?
I basically enjoyed the whole show except for the ending and how they fixed the relationship between Mirai and Sakura. Felt kind of half assed how they resolved (or maybe I just wasn't paying enough attention and that I didn't get it.
I think marathoning the show made it more enjoyable along with my low expectations of the show thanks to /a/.
I enjoyed it, It seemed better off if it was more SoL though than fighting ghouls, Wasn't a fan of the ending but still an enjoyable show by Kyoani.
King of ass pulls.
One of the best shows I've seen in a long time, clear AOTY for me so far.
It had beautiful animation but the story just goes down the gutter in those last episodes.
All in all the ending and the episodes leading up to them are rather shitty story wise.
Maybe Kyoani thought that they can cash in on the series and told the writers to create an ending that leaves room for a sequel, I can't think of any other reason why we got such an ass pull ending.
It wasn't very good, but I really enjoyed it because of delicious Mirai.
>Felt kind of half assed how they resolved
It's not just you. Well, at least I think the same.
I think that's because Sakura is a kind of original character that her purpose in the show is to only introduce notAizen and foreshadow that he is the evil guy.
This. I enjoyed the show but it was insubstantial.
Great show that suffered a lot of trolling from retards. Carefully crafted plot, though they kinda watered everything down in the end, in order to achieve the "grey" world. I know not everything is black and white etc., but IMO it would've been better to not try painting Izumi in a better light, instead have Fujima turn out to be a hero (working with Akkey's mom). In general I would've taken it a bit farther down the serious road and have someone killed (most likely candidate in my preferred scenarios would have been Mitsuki).
But after all, a refreshing take from KyoAni and I hope they continue to branch out into the more serious, dark stuff. KnK was a very promising start.
Yeah, they could've waited until the next episode for Sakura to give up. Though a lot of shows would've had her falling into Mirai's arms as soon as she extended the hand.
If you can't even pay enough attention to get his name, this show was not for you.
Most common complaint was that none of the characters were likable. While I agree with this, it didn't stop me from enjoying the show. Could have been better though.
It looked pretty like any other Kyoto Animation show, and that was the only good thing. Everything else was terrible and unoriginal. The other good thing to come out of this show is doujinshi.
Kyoani finds a way. Season 2 when?
I think Mirai was one of the best characters that season, if not the year. How they managed to pull the exact same reaction from real life viewers as in-universe, nothing short of perfect.
In retrospect, the whole past story with Mirai, Sakura and the childhood friend who died was pure filler.
Are you for real? It was vital for the plot, else Izumi wouldn't have been able to coerce her into killing Akkey.
>Akkey was responsible for her death
No, Mirai taking off her ring and acting brazen was.
Not before 2015, I think, assuming that spring will be Tamako Love Story, summer = Free 2 and fall Amagi Brilliant Park.
I think you replied to the wrong post, or what are you talking about?
Is this some kind of trolling, maybe?
Not even that anon but how did you get >Akkey was responsible for her death from that post
How does this make you feel?
I thought you were implying Mirai took the job to get revenge on Akkey. How was the friend's death relevant to Izumi coercing her? Not being cagey, genuinely curious.
Izumi used the fact that Mirai would've basically been stoned to death to protect her and have Mirai owe her one
Then she used that to get Mirai to kill Akey
That there's one too many dimensions in that image.
No, Mirai took the job because she faced death. Izumi used her influence to spare her. The foster clan (whose daughter Mirai killed) wanted Mirai dead.
>How does this make you feel?
Gropey. A bit molesty as well.
Now that one is really cute.
I remember Izumi protecting Akkey but not Mirai. Must have been too preoccupied looking at all the megane instead of looking out my own.
Yeah, Izumi might have at one point pretended to "protect" Akkey, but she repeatedly tried to kill him later - always by proxy, though, first by sending Hiroomi, who got almost killed himself, and later by using Mirai. Izumi is a snake.
She was only protecting Akkey so her clan would be the one to kill him, not someone else
Also because the Kyoukai no Kanata was believed to only be killable by Mirai's magic blood powers
I dunno I really liked it. But yea I think it was better as a SoL than actcomrom(?). Anyways the best episode was probably the filler with the stink monster because as characters I think they mesh pretty well just weird to put action in the show I guess.
(even though the only reason I watched it was because the very intro scene made me go "what the fuck")
Thanks. Will make more sense now during my second viewing.
Show from KyoAni with adult (20-25yo) female MC/group of them fucking never.
Show itself isn't was ok, but not very rememberable, it somehow lacked focus in my eyes (constant lame jokes and switching from cute girls doing magical stuff and more serious stuff) shitty ending, cool and flashy animations, good OP/ED.
Idol episode? I'm kind of scared of how much money they could make with making an idol show.
Great show with superb moments. I will never forget all the speculation, which was never possible with a SoL show. And the twists in episode 9 and 10. Stunning.
I just wish it would've had a few more episodes and the last two episodes would've been more serious or darker. Then again, maybe they had a S2 in mind all the time, or some other follow-up (there's at least episode 13 that will be released with the last volume). So who knows. If the show taught one thing, it's not to jump to conclusions prematurely.
Forgot my pic.
Second to last episode was pretty dark for KyoAni. Mirai putting zombie Akkey's limp hand on her head and all.
My opinion is apparently the same as everyone here, I enjoyed watching it but it wasnt good at all. I hope it dont take many years till they do another one that engaged me like Haruhi or Hyouka did
Tamako S2. Please look forward to it.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and just say that's there's a S2 coming. Even more I would love to an S3 because there's so much they can do from here.
Main bad guy getting away
Magic society seeming evil
MC just got fighting powers
I dunno imo they could do a lot more just cover up the shitty plot holes and not with
SHE CAME BACK BECAUSE MY EMOTIONS FOUND HER
Agreed. The relationship between Mirai and Akkey was very well handled too.
Originally thought tamako market would be the worst kyoani show I've ever watched before this pile of shit. Awful forced melodrama with terrible characters and only one redeeming episode which was the idol parody.
Kind of a polished turd with a terrible ending. it will more than likely go down the forgettable anime path and in another 2 seasons time rarely ever receive a mention in a thread like so many other shows of the past 2 years
They could have gone full dark and serious by having Akkey killed due to Izumi lying he would survive if the KnK is destroyed. And then have an epic tale of revenge when Mirai vows to kill Izumi (for she made her killing the only friend she ever had), but first having to flee, since Akkey's mom comes to town to kill Mirai (having been told by Izumi that Mirai killed him on her own). Fujima and the Society staying wildcards for some time, but rather supporting Mirai (in secret, as she was frowned upon by the majority of spirit warriors from the start). Hiroomi still discovering what Izumi has done and leaving the clan etc.
Massive potential for a two-cour show at least, the setup was there. But it would've been a massive stray from the usual fare, and you already see so many people complaining because it wasn't the usual SoL, this probably would've been too much of a risk. If they continue this path, though, I have high hopes for future shows.
AOTS of fall 2013. No other show came close. It had some flaws, but compared to those of the other contenders, this wins hands down.
I liked it
I hope you're not one of the idolfags who go "this was the best episode, it should have been an idol anime, why didn't I get another idol anime?", but here you have another gif.
It would been better if we knew for sure that there is a season 2 cause everything near the end kinda need explaining and I dont mean mirai's death. There was Izumi's mixing herself with those things. MC's mother explain the existence of Akkey.
did it sell well enough to get a second season?
Most trolled show of last season.
I laughed for a few minutes when the twist came and all the idiots who fell for the trolls were proven wrong.
After all, good show. Won't complain if there's another season.
never forget ;_;
It was shit.
Ishidate needs to get his shit together.
Nagi no Asukara
White Album 2
Non Non Biyori
Definitely not close to AOTS.
First volume preliminary sales are at 6.5k
If you add an unknown number of KyoAni store sales (I think it's sold out there in the meantime) and consider that it's their own IP and they bag more of the profit, also the merch (KnK among the first that sold out at CTFK 2013), It's probably somewhere around the profit of a regular 8-10k show.
>halfway decent setting but cutout characters, contrived interactions
>decent start, then turned to utter shit, even the fanbase admits it ruined the OVAs
>this must be trolling
>horribly chlichèd shit
>most boring shit mixed with outright bullshit (I don't recognize my classmate etc.)
Of all those, Nagi no Asukara could be considered coming closest to a good show, but still a far cry from KnK. You even mentioning the others is ridiculous.
I enjoyed it for some of the humor and for best girl Mitsuki. The rest was pretty underwhelming (the plot and the lack of characterization), but I wasn't expecting much. The visuals are great, although I'd love KyoAni to quit overusing chromatic aberration everywhere.
Well, the first few eps and the last third were really corny, bland and the last third was rushed as well.
The middle was quite good and well done typical daily moe.
Nice characters, great character interactions, intriguing plot (if you actually have some patience), nice textbook pacing, good twists towards the end. Ending was okay; I see why people felt it was lacking, though more impact would've meant no future S2 or movie, and potentially hurt the LN sales when killing off a main character in an original end. It was pretty clear they couldn't destroy the namesake of the show, and a sequel without Mirai would be weird as well. So it was along the lines of what I expected. Not great, but also not disappointing.
