so anyone watched this anime, was it good in it's time or was it completely overshadowed by Code Geass?
It was good for what it was. Not too bad, but nothing too remarkable.I thought the ending was particularly enjoyable.
i was wondering how good it was, but i never seen it discuss since i started browsing back in 08'. thanks anon, i guess i'll i give it a shot
Bleach ripoff but still pretty good.
Yea, it isn't really ever discussed here ever. Other than it's god tier OP that is. I'm assuming you came from the OP thread. Give it a chance, it's a fun show with some originality too it. One of the villains is pretty memorable, he's really gay.
He's not gay, merely Fabulous!
I thought it was reasonably enjoyable for what it was. More to the point, I'm sad it failed to garner any real fanbase and thus doomed its creator to milking Rurouni Kenshin for the rest of his career.
Well, to be fair there isn't anything to discuss. It's over. I get that some shows have a large enough fan base to discuss shows more often, but you're right about it's small fan base. Not enough people to have any real conversation. Ohh well.
actually i heard about this anime last week after seeing a thread on flame of recca and decided to look for similar ones.
i just finished flame of recca last week and it really had a very lackluster ending IMO so i decided to give this one a try
Ohh. In that case feel free to check out this version of it's incredible OP: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBY8BrWt5QU&list=FLv5OmweCO0UER0CQnTkIUKA&index=145
If you don't want spoilers don't want the video or just don't watch it altogether.
Anyways, give it a go. Don't expect too much, but just remember to have fun while watching.
Holy shit, ours sounds like shit compared to them http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymVF7e0IZz4
Then again, it sounds like shit anyway
I knew we covered the song, but I never bothered to seek it out. Now that I've listened to it I feel like I just watched my own child get cut into pieces. It sounds horrible. Ohh well, I guess they tried.
But yea, the Nips sounds godly compared to us. I'm fairly certain that they are trained singers though, so there's a reason they blow us out of the water. And, you know, they speak Japanese everyday
compare to other shonen, that's a preety good OP
The genre itself has been plagued with shit, but the shit shows occasionally come with good OPs. Bleach and Naruto specifically both have had some decent OPs in the past. I can't speak for anything recent though.
is there actual romance in this? only encounter i've had with it is a doujin where the MC grows 3 dicks and the chick has to blow all of them
Too shounen. Pretty boring really.
I watched it all the way through and nothing really stuck in my mind. So it's a bit bland.
What the balls? I never bothered looking this up on sadpanda, I'm surprised theres anything even there for this series. I don't remember too much, but I think the two main characters do end up getting together
I will fucking stab you ya Cunt
BUSOU RENKIN THREAD!?
Not even the depths of Space can stop true love
I know, rare right?
A lance is a pretty cool weapon for an MC
Better than yet another sword.
2006 was a strong year so it kinda felt under the radar, but the show still had a small following on /a/.
Pretty underrated, it's purposely silly and has great characters (MOON, Captai Bravo, motherfucking Papillon,...
Anything done in BR that has similarities to what happens in Bleach is done a hundred times better here.
I loved when it glowed gold. Looked bad ass.
I like 絶狂犬's solo more
BR was good because it actually ended.
Holy shit, that nigas crazy. Bretty gud.
Hey, Bleach is ending... just give it 5-10 more years or so...
10/10 would fug
What I loved about Papillon was that we was introduced as a serious enemy but then becomes a joke, and them shit gets real, but once you see his Homunculus form you think it's just another joke. But then he starts absorbing people through his hand. Then he's a joke then serious again and finally is the greatest rival in the history of anime.
Too adorable for me.
I'd pay good money for a BD release of this.
Very good money.
I remember when this first watched this I listened to the OP who knows how many times. By far one of my favorite OPs of all time
It's a real shame there's no good Merchandise for this show...I've seen countless way shittier shows get countless figmas, nendos and scales.
I fucking love this anime
Bravo, Papillo and Moonface are GOAT as fuck
Rushed and maybe cancelled ending, but even then I liked it.
>I'd pay good money for a BD release of this.
Oh god this. I wanted to rewatch it the other day but the DVDs looked like shit.
it had one of the best endings ever
Reminder that Papillon's outfit was made for him by his own grandfather.
Also, did you guys know that Tokiko has the same VA as Satsuki?
This was one of my first anime, so getting a BD to rewatch this would be a nostalgia trip
great great grandfather*
This thread needs more BRAVO!
Night and day.
And now I'm listening to the OP yet again. It's still as good as ever.
>2:39 - 2:56
I liked it a lot.
It went straight to the point and continued until it gave a satisfying end.
It already had hit a point it couldn't go further since the author knew it was going to end, I gotta say I loved what happened instead of it stretching into an endless battle shonen.
Its criminal how little fanart there is
A++ for effort.
Now that I think about it, man, 2006 was one of the best years for anime I can remember. It's no wonder why Buso Renkin wasn't that popular.
Oh shit yeah
It's crazy how much a good romance can improve a shonen.
Probably because it's so fucking rare.
Yeah, its normally tacked-on faux-romance that never really goes anywhere until a timeskip or epilogue when suddenly the two are married and have kids offscreen.
No harem or triangle shenanigans is really, really nice once in a while.
Okay, technically there was that other guy, but even then it wasn't really a love triangle.
2005/2006/2007 wer probably /a/'s golden age.
So much good shows.
>Not watching the WOOOAOOOAAA WOOAOAAA DA DA DA DA!
He was just the unlucky male friend who could have betrayed them out of being butthurt but instead turned out to be a cool dude.
He was never really portrayed as if he had any sort of shot himself.
>BR aired alongside Geass
No wonder no one talked about it.
And Death Note.
Say it with more love!
Gas mask a cute.
It was basically fucked in terms of popularity. Poor blighter didn't stand a chance.
Is he...guarding his bulge? I can respect that
Whenever a Busou Renkin thread shows up, its only ever about the main couple, Papillon, and sometimes Captain Bravo. I've never ever seen a thread who even so much as recognized that one dude who had the hots for the female lead. You know, the one with the ring-blade thing? Hell, now I can't even remember his name. I kinda remember the epilogue chapter of it and how fucking dejected he looked, seeing the main couple be lovesick idiots in front of everyone.
Err...Who? I seriously don't remember who you guys were referring to. No matter how I try I can't even recall such a character existing.
I always thought he looked like Miles Edgeworth
I enjoyed it. This is one instance where the anime was actually more enjoyable than the manga.
The problem is this series doesn't have enough fanart.
>Busou Renkin aired so long ago that this was actually an acceptable resolution at the time
Whoa. This is one of those things that makes you feel suddenly and intensely old.
Pardon the quality, it can't be helped. But yeah, this guy.
You're thinking of Gouta, and he was an alright guy, but the rest of the characters were much more memorable, hell even Hiwatari was
damm at least the 00' had a good year in it's decade, and in 2 years those shows will be a decade old.
i wonder if this decade will produce a good year like that?
2007 as well. That Spring/Summer stretch of shows is insane.
Gouta was pretty cool. He was alright, basically. Chakram guy. Fun stuff.
>there will never be any new content for buso renkin ever
Tokiko has the best catchphrase
No, she's missing her mask so he's getting her one.
>With this it's complete. Papillon!
That faggot is one of the most enjoyable villains, I swear.
>hanbun no tsuki
>welcome to the nhk
My only regret was not spamming /a/ with hanbun no tsuki thread 24/7
the goat of ovas and the goat of romance anime
>ctrl-f "my toe"
You lost me
Do i remember wrong or is this picture old as fuck ?
I do not understand the reference you are inferring.
>so anyone watched this anime, was it good in it's time or was it completely overshadowed by Code Geass?
Why would it? Their audiences don't really overlap too much and this was a manga adaptation of a Shoune Jump property.
Not really the acceptable was 800x600 the common resolution was 1024x768.
anime adaptation, my bad.
Do you remember how long ago this series was created?
i meant in that everyone is nostalgic about code geass, black lagoon and even Haruhi who all came out that year,
There were so many popular shows at that time that buso renkin seem to have been overshadowed because people rarely talk about it.
Are you starting to feel old?
The first half of this was fucking amazing and I remember thinking it had the potential to become one of my favorites. Then the story took a massive shit to the point that I barely even finished watching because it was so awful by the end.
The best girl won.
I liked how this show maintained power levels pretty well. With the exception of Victor at a few points (who gets a pass because last boss), everybody felt strong without the need of some massive shift in power levels. Except for Gouta cause he's a weak ass fag who has only one full fight.
I really need to rewatch this.
