So, what anime has a dub superior to the sub?
Ghost Stories, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost In The Shell SAC, and Panty and Stocking
I feel like looking at that gif makes me think Ragyo will come out and eat you. Or rape you.
The PSG dub was complete trash.
None. I only watch anime as the director intended - same with films, I only watch them in their native language.
They went a little overboard on the swearing, but I thought it was great.
none, seriously. the only people who prefer dubs are too dumb to read subtitles. the quality of the voice actors and script is worse in dubs 100% of the time.
Don't you children know that absolute generalizations are bad?
Dragon ball z. tengen toppa gurren lagann
Black Lagoon, Soul Eater
You know you won't get the weeaboos on /a/ to admit something like that
But Gainax literally requested that they put MORE profanity in the dub. The dub writers even had to teach the Gainax producers about obscenities they'd never heard of before.
Pizza samuraï cat or whatever?
Fuck no. Black Star was unbearable, and it didn't have the earsex that is Chiaki Omigawa.
I was so close to taking your advice, too.
Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop are the only two I can think of.
>No Maka voice
And it was worse off for it.
I don't really feel like anyone is fully qualified to judge whether English or Japanese voice acting is better unless they're fluent in both languages.
It makes more sense to list "dubs that are good" than "dubs that are SUPERIOR to the sub".
Space Dandy. I need a version with the Jap OP/ED and the dub voices
Fuck sorry, i got this the wrong way about. It's been a long day, it was the english version that black star was unbearable in. Disregard the bit about soul eater.
Black lagoon still stands
Commie. This is the only time I've ever downloaded their releases.
The only right answer is Nerima Daikon Brothers.
None. I enjoyed the Clannad dub more, but that's because it was the first anime I ever watched, so it probably isn't really better. The rest of dubs are shit
Outlaw Star and Death Note had decent dubs too, probably not better than subbed though.
That's a matter of opinion
also Black Lagoon
>not a single YuGiOh post
The Big O
I liked the Pani Poni Dash dub better than the original.
The dub cast just seemed to have more of a dynamic, and they made the characters even more crazy and entertaining than they originally were. I'm not going to say it's "superior" since it doesn't really stick to the original script, but it was more entertaining.
If any of you fuckers say Steins;Gate I'll make sure to wipe away your existence.
If you remove the fuzz of personal bias either way, none. At best, they are equal.
One thing that I find interesting though is some early/mid 90s dubs. They had a tendency to edgy up the show, probably to narrow the demographic to older viewers and remove the 'cartoons are for kids' stigma. Cybercity Oedo 808 is a good example. Awesome dub, but matched by the awesomeness of the original cast that includes Norio Wakamoto and Kaneto Shiozawa.
Jesus fucking Christ, Bear. Jesus fucking Christ.
>Huh REETSEW? MEEEOWWW? OH MAI GAAWD!
>watched the dub preview because why not
>it's fucking awful
what were they thinking
mushi shi has a damn good dub
This has been my reaction so many times that I don't even investigate dubs any more. Not even out of curiosity.
Ghost Stories, that's it.
And I laugh at all the retards spouting nostalgia crap like DBZ. If that dub came out today where it changed all of the music, the OP/ED's, censored dialogue, censored vulgarity, censored violence and completely changed half of the character personalities, I wonder how the reception would turn out.
I mean damn, there are so few times when they get it right, but when they do...
I'm not going to fake a reaction, I'll give you my honest opinion of that.
Ritsu sounded really cute, way cuter than I thought she would. The other voices were okay I guess.
Im on that the dub hit it off. I fucking love Roys VA.
That's because she was purposely imitating fucking English english in London you dope fuck.
FLCL tried too hard to sound like the jap actors.
What's supposed to bad about this?
I think /a/ is way too spoiled. They have never heard what an actual bad dub sounds like.
You sound upset. The truth is they aren't - just that the VA accents and voices are very unpleasing to the ear.
Superior K-On dub
A lot of times I like understanding what they're saying instead of reading it, I can do work and watch anime on the other screen (german dub)
Easily on par with the original, possibly better at times. Mamoru Miyano is good and all, but Ocean Productions really showed their skill.
I still think that Ian James Corlett is probably the best English Goku voice we've gotten. Manages to sound both high pitched and masculine at the same time, without sounding comedic.
Could have been worse. In Abenobashi they turned the cast into hicks from a Memphis slum.
My Japanese sure has improved, it's almost as if they spoke nothing but English in that entire clip.
Best English dub I've heard. I'd rewatch the whole series like that.
Shit taste noted, and dismissed.
Rub a dub dub, thanks for the grub
Hate me as much as you want but is the truth
>WHY THE FUCK DO I EMBARRASS YOU?
Trisha is best waifu.
Those are pretty generic accents. Sounds like you might just be butthurt over America.
Except the truth is they are. I just watched this movie a couple days ago dude. Im fairly certain the context was her immitating the britbongs. Even the dialogue implies it.
Read the thread.
Holy fuck I want to see the entirety of K-On with this dub
Momoko is best girl.
Damn, didn't realize I was dealing with the debate king. I shouldn't have said anything.
I liked Baccano!'s dub a lot more than subs. The English really sets a better 1930s NY atmosphere than moonspeak.
Why are dubs so bad at handling little girl voices?
They always sound like 40 year old women.
Bebop, Champloo, mostly just the obvious ones. I would say FMA Brotherhood, but I watched the second half subbed and it's still where my best memories of the show lie.
now add mugi
oh god why
I find their voices cuter and more relaxing than the actual English dub.
Some dubs are ok, but it's only acceptable to watch dubbed anime after watching it with the original voice overs.
that fucking Plinkett-tier voice for Yui
>GI Joe credits at the end
>Cute girls dooink cute zings
Well since your arguments have been
>u r spoiled xD
>u r arguin bad xD (sarcasm xD)
yeah, maybe you should have just kept your ass shut.
>responding to babby tier trolls
Come on anons, you're better than that.
What the shit?
Mio and Ritsu sound really good. Sawako sounds alright. Yui sounds like shit. Even worse than the English one.
dont they call it seemon in the jap dub too?
Mugi sounds perfect.
Yes, but it's a Japanese version of Simon.
The english dub took the Japanese transliteration of an English name and translated it back but taking the Japanese pronunciation.
I wouldn't say it's worth watching
But it's not as bad as some state it to be
However Yui's voice is quite awful
Ritsu's eng VA voices Kyuubey
you forgot something
I like cheesy old ADV dubs (Evangelion and Nadesico, for example) but the MC's voice in Golden Boy was fucking intolerable. Had to switch to the sub after a couple episodes.
Yeah, just got to that part. She has a nice soft voice that fits her. Upon further listening, Yui's voice isn't too terrible. I think it's just hard for anyone who isn't Japanese to do a perfect Yui imitation.
If you're not watching G Gundam with the dub, you're doing it wrong
I refuse to watch the Gurren Lagann dub on principle because I'm still buttmad that ADV's dub (where they would have pronounced it "Simon" just like any other English-speaking person ever would) never got made.
Yui is the worst. It's against German nature to be ditzy and eccentric.
what the fuck is cromartie
You best be trolling nigga
Is this a joke?
Or are you this fucking new?
>what the fuck is cromartie
Finally someone agrees with me on this. FLCL's dub voices sound like fucking aliens from another planet. Not a word flows naturally in the English language.
How would you have translated the Osaka-ben dialect that was central to a lot of the show's dialogue and humor?
Get the fuck out.
The vocal inflections of English/white women don't really handle the "kawaii" voice/aesthetic as well as Japanese. If they can't get the rare English VA who actually has a naturally high-pitched/childlike voice, dubs are usually better if they don't even try it and just make the girls sound like American teenagers instead.
>fucking aliens from another planet
nigga, I think you missed the whole point of FLCL
nvm, just googled it and it turns out that he is an american football quarterback for the NY jets,
but it is funnier in english.
Going with this. Mira and Isaac are pretty neat
Makes sense since the movie was directed by an American.
The difference is the inflections are merely dramatic (good or bad) and not horrifyingly off in japanese.
I agree. There were mispronunciations, but I liked the voices more and it seemed very well acted.
I think YOU did. It's supposed to be about ordinary kids getting caught up in weird events that are metaphors for adolescence, not just lolrandumb Wackyworld nonsense.
He's a CornerBack you moron.
I thought the Welcome to the NHK dub was fantastic, Misaki's VA was a bit dull but other than that everyone else is top notch
Just because I don't know about your favorite meme anime doesn't mean I should get out
Whats the difference?
Fuck off /v/ermin
Why hasn't this been posted yet?
The other problem is that most of the English VA's who can sound like kawaii girls aren't employed in the anime industry.
no it's not.
If it were the japanese version of Simon, they would have spelled it Sa-i-mon in katakana, but they spelled it shi-mon, so the english is correct.
Yeah, but the "strange" voices are metaphors for the difference between kids and adults. If Haruko had a "regular" voice she would just be a regular person, the strange voice represents how strange and bewildering life can be while growing up.
Cornerbacks play defense, quarterback is offense.
Because this thread is about good dubs.
> Not preferring the Dutch version
THIS NIGGER DON'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT ANIME OR SPORTS
I made it 3 seconds. Go die in a fire.
>comes to 4chan
>doesn't know cromartie
Idiot! What have I told you about doing things that are bad for your health?
I remember starting to watch Clannad dubbed back in the day. It sounded really tinny like a fandub or anything recorded with a shitty microphone for that matter.
But what really stuck with me is someone biting into a rice crispy in episode 2 (I think it was). Instead of a nice crunchy sound, a hollow scraping sound was played, like cutting metal or some shit. It was horrible.
The Dutch version came first, it isn't a dub
Is that robot from the show?
Is shi-mon an actual name in Japan?
Better than me. I unplugged my speakers before I searched for it because I didn't want to accidentally hear any of it.
The KS music is a nice touch
>Obvious fat girl voicing based tomoko
I can literally hear the fat
>not available in your country
I didnt even like the original jap dub for this, this just gave me spit some of my lunch out
no, it's a katakana made up name. They can make up whatever they want if they spell it in katakana
I find it hard to believe that Shi-mon is a brand new bullshat name they just made up and not an adaptation of Simon.
Thread talks about superior dubs tho
Not gonna say "better", but here are some dubs I liked:
Everyone is British, grandpa is voiced by Patrick Stewart
A lot of people hate this one but I got really attached to the voices for the main characters, especially Shinji, Misato and Rei. Some of the script adaptations were really inspired/clever (e.g. Asuka swearing in German, Shinji's "I'm so fucked up.")
Vic Mahjonga is actually the worst thing about the dub because he's totally miscast, but the other actors and good script make up for it.
Overrated because Steve Blum and Wendee Lee cannot convincingly emote, but still very good.
> Gunslinger Girl
Has some problems with the script adaptation changing connotations of the original dialogue, but the voices are mostly really good and appropriately reserved. The fact that they kept almost all of the same VAs for season 2 (unlike the Japanese) is one of the only things that makes it watchable.
> Summer Wars
The only anime dub I've ever seen that's pretty much perfect. The performances are so smooth and natural you literally can't tell that it's a dub and not the original voice track.
> Ghost in the Shell stuff
Most of it is slightly overrated for the same reasons as Bebop, but still good. Except for the Bandai dub of GitS 2: Innocence, which is just plain fantastic to the point that it's practically necessary to fully appreciate the movie as an English-speaker.
> Death Note
For reasons mentioned already in this thread. Just the right balance between hamminess and believability. I just wish Ryuk sounded a little more monstrous and less like a chain-smoking clown, but that was the same as in the Japanese dub so w/e.
> Panty & Stocking
It has actual jokes. The dialogue crackles. Only major flaw is that they couldn't find an actual fucking black dude to voice Garterbelt and you can never not tell.
No idea what they're saying but it does sound nice
I don't know anything about the Japanese roots of the name, but I just want to say. I think "See-moan" sounds a lot better than "Simon". Imagine Kamina yelling SIMON...it just doesn't hold the power that "See-moan" does.
Native English speakers come in two categories: the delusional retards who believe that because they are able to listen to a mediocre dub without puking, it is better than original voice acting, and the elite few who have grown out of their egotism.
Non English speakers are the lucky ones who can easily see how English dubs are mostly shit and never better than original VA.
For the Japanese dub, absolutely. But using the Jap pronunciation for the English dub is just retarded and just as jarring as if they said Saimon in the Jap dub. Well, not going to watch the dub anyway.
> The Sky Crawlers
Just really good overall. MC is voiced by the same guy as Dean Venture/MC in Summer Wars. You can actually understand what they're saying when they're in the air, because it's not muffled out by static and Engrish.
> Martian Successor Nadesico
Some of the performances are pretty amateurish, but the script makes the whole show about 10x funnier. Yurika's voice is QT supreme.
no si in japanese, only shi.
and in other languages that's how simon is pronounced (except with s sound instead of sh).
I can't help but notice that anime with a western or otherwise non-Japanese setting seem to get great dubs.
FMA, Bebop, Hellsing, etc.
Spice and wolf was pretty good dubbed
I agree with you on the quality of the Summer Wars dub. Too bad the anime itself was absolute garbage.
No, I meant the english dub. Whether or not the name is Japanese or English shouldn't matter. It shouldn't matter if it's pronounced incorrectly, only if it SOUNDS wrong. And it doesn't sound wrong.
Thanks man, I haven't seen that show in years but I remember it being on during the mornings on summer holidays.
Oh yeah, also
> Welcome to the NHK
For reasons mentioned above. Sato, Yamazaki and Hitomi all get career-best performances from their respective VAs.
GITSSAC, FMA/B, Bebop, Princess Tutu, Princess Mononoke
The Streamline dub for Akira was pretty good.
Dare I say it
>Vic Mahjonga is actually the worst thing about the dub because he's totally miscast
Wow, really? I thought he nailed it. I've never watched the sub though.
Ehh, Lelouche's voice didn't carry that same magnificence as the jap voice did.
This guy gets it
oh yeah. fo sho. english version made me cry.
KS had some really nicely composed pieces for what was a pretty average VN.
Black Lagoon for sure
>No more Engrish
>They're supposed to be talking in English anyway
>It makes a really confusing segment where a character translates from Japanese for another character make sense
>The black guy is voiced by a black person instead of a japanese one
>A lot of the performances are better than in Japanese
I fucking hated those kids in the dub, I prefer the sub by a large margin.
>but the MC's voice in Golden Boy was fucking intolerable
So what fandubs are legitimately good?
>I SAID GET OUT!
None, but some abridged one are worth watching
I was very happy when they released the OST
Some abridged series have legitimately far better voice acting than official English dubs.
Nullmetal Alchemist, for one.
I would give a list of the English dubs I like, but I think I may be biased. The only ones that sound good to me are the ones I watched when I was first starting to watch anime. Whenever I try to watch a new one, it just sounds bad to me if I have already seen the anime in its original form.
Really? Jin-Roh's dub kinda sucked.
This is not anime it is french cartoons.
YU YU HAKUSHO
PROVE ME WRONG
The kids sounding stilted and wooden kinda worked for me, considering what they were.
(better than English dubs in general that is, NMA is not better than FMA's dub of course)
I do actually enjoy the ADV Eva dub, but to call it better than the sub seems wrong. Rebuild's dub is better, at any rate.
I don't see anything strange about the guy, he's just your average High School delinquent.
He's missing a button.
Was I the only one who liked Hellsing Ultimate's dub?
>Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Kamina and Yoko's VAs in the dub are fuck awful, other than that its a fairlyt solid sub.
At least the ones done by S.Skaf, he does original compositions on his youtube channel as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0rAQuY-Xn8
I WILL FINALLY BE THE ULTIMATE CHAMPION
THE UNDEFEATED OF THE
I WILL BECOME
AND BE CHAMPION OF ALL
Only Americans actually believe their dubs are ever better than original VA. Shit like Ghost Stories doesn't count. I mean shit like Cowboy Bebop. You would have to be delusional to think it's actually better in English (or American, since Americans are raised to think that they do everything the best).
> Luci Christian
> not irl waifu material
Jap DBZ is unwatchable because of Goku's seiyuu. Yu Yu Hakusho is great overall and has dat Kuwabara. Those are the only dubs I can tolerate though.
Keep your inferiority complex in /int/
All of them.
>watching in gook speak when superior english is available
Gurren lagann eng dub was fucking good, dont know why you guys hated it
I'd have to go with:
Good Luck Girl
And basically anything else with Colleen Clinkenbeard.
Generally speaking, sci-fi, action and/or seinen series stand the best chances of getting good dubs, everything else is pretty much doomed.
> Colleen Clinkenbeard
I really liked her in Kimi ga Nozomu Eien and Fullmetal Alchemist but lately she's just been phoning it in.
If it's something set in an English speaking county it's acceptable, it's never ok when the shows set in Jap land however.
What about Rurouni Kenshin. Can you stand his Japanese VA?
crayon shin chan by adult swim dub is p good
YOU SEE THAT FLAG ON THE MOON BITCH! IT DON'T HAVE A RED DOT ON IT. OUR RAW AMERICAN DICK FUNDING CAN AFFECT THE OPINION, BUT THEY WON'T DO SHIT BECAUSE THEY ARE SO BETA. WE'LL BE LIKE HORA~HORA~ YOU LIKE THAT NIHONJIN,YEAH,YOU LIKE OUR AMERICAN DOLLAR. THEY'LL COMPLAIN AT FIRST, BUT THEY'LL LOVE IT AND LATER CLAIM CREDIT, LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE IN JAPAN. THIS WILL BE OUR THIRD NUKING OF JIPAN, ONLY THIS TIME IT'S WITH SOME MOTHERFUCKING BENJAMINS.
Privileged Americans assuming an anime having a bad English dubs equates to an anime having a bad dub in any other languages
So's when I translate manga, but it's hardly the same thing by the time it's in english.
She did a really good job bringing out Momiji's character in GLG. And the scene where Momiji spoofs Luffy was just all too fitting.
>implying there is anything else worth subbing.
Funny thing. Cosmic radiation has deteriorated the the pigments on the flag making it white.
Better than every English VA in the show who doesn't play Kenshin.
It's a discussion about voice acting work
Not your bullshit patriotism you fucking faggot
What color did your country's flag turn?
My point is humanity is a pointless speck upon existence.
Goku sounds OK, it's just incredibly weird to go from DB to DBZ and see he still has a fucking female voice. But the actress is good, so it's better than the dub.
you can't be serious
Americans are so delusional about dubs. Here are a few things you can expect from an American defending dubs:
- Side/female characters sound like shit, but it's OK, because I think the main character sounds better than his Japanese counterpart
- Voice tonality is more important than acting skills
- I am stupid or read at 10 words per minute, so subs are too hard for me
did they fuck?
Gonna check this out. What are some other shows dubbed with british VAs? The main reason I liked Xenoblade so much was because it was so refreshing to not have to constantly listen to merifags like the rest of global media
No, just heavy petting.
I honestly don't know of any. The only reason Steamboy was dubbed with actual Brits is because it's set in England.
Nice and subtle. Better than the others in this thread.
My personal favorite. Crispy Freeman was great, as were the others, especially Rider and Kariya's VAs( I think he also played I want to fuck Akihiko). Only real issue was with Gil.
I wasn't sold on Gina's voice but I find the Disney dub for Porco Rosso good. Usually dubs distract me from the experience.
Xenoblade had Japanese VA option (at least in NA release). The Last Story didn't have an option and it was hilarious with the British VA but I genuinely believe that they did a better job than Americans would have done because they didn't try too hard to sound Japanese.
sorry if this a stupid question, but can anyone explain why the majority of anime dubs are complete garbage? is it because english voice actors are just generally not interested in dub work? does it pay poorly? does the market not demand any better so that's what they get?
Americans in general don't understand foreign stuff, even less another culture/language
It pays poorly and dubbing foreign-language productions in a way that sounds convincing is incredibly hard. That said it's not really true anymore that the majority of dubs are shit, most dubs produced within the last 5 years or so are at least watchable.
Yes, watchable for delusional Americans, as we have already established. This is like saying that solid shit is better than diarrhea
>YU YU HAKUSHO
If English isn't your native language it is easy to relate to. Anything dubbed sounds wrong and it's just not the original author's vision, at least this is why I have a hard time with it.
Are you sure that's Luci Christian?
Because it sounds like Brittney Karbowski.
The GiTS is one of the few anime I can listen to dubbed and actually prefer it.
Everything Steve Blum touches is great.
Just like 2 things.
You bring up an important point with your image.
The Kill La Kill dub is coming, and I have a hard time envisioning the cast.
I mean, is there a voice actor out there that can yell enough to play Gamagoori?
>majority of anime dubs
The majority of all dubs in any language are garbage.
Patrick Warburton? I feel like it would work for the old gruff dude playing a highschooler thing.
You got a problem with Leeron?
And you named the second. Everything else is just steve blum talking.
He is so gay. Gay.
I can only hear his comedic roles in my head. This makes Gamagoori really entertaining.
>Thinking the Japanese dub of Cowboy Bebop is better
The Japanese VA's are less skilled in their roles in some instances. Their voices sometimes fit the characters and situations less.
Don't be a dipshit.
Maybe I'm just weird, but I recently watched a few episodes of Princess Tutu dubbed for some reason and it was actually pretty good. That Drosselmeyer couldn't be more on point.
I could see the guy who played Rider in the F/Z dub doing a pretty good job actually.
For comedic purposes I'd love this as well.
Terrible holden caulfield. Maybe full of shit enough, but not nearly whiny or self loathing enough.
Dubbers are awful at yelling
The only thing that changes in dubbing are the voices. The studios send the dubbing companies all the audio tracks over, including the japanese voices, and they just mute it and dub over it. So that sfx was still present in the japanese dub.
Also thats what makes fandubbing so hard. They gotta mix EVERYTHING, not just voices, and people are lazy when they do it too...
That's because there is only one Swedish Murder Machine
but that's good
Desert Punk's dub is infinitely superior
typical american. "hurr, it's in space so they should be speaking english!"
Do you really want the future to be in Chinese? Lesser of two evils.
>nobody has mentioned Haruhi
English kyon is indisputably better to Jap kyon -- Jap kyon gets too emotional and intense and it doesn't really fit his more deadpan expressions. Also English haruhi sounds a bit more bitchy, but a lot less obnoxious.
>no one mentions MoMH
Wow, it's like you guys haven't even seen the greatest anime ever.
Nice Reddit meme. Are you too much of a dumb American to write your own words? You need to resort to le funny memes?
Wendee Lee was way too old for Haruhi. Sounded like a middle aged woman shoved in a teenage girl's body.
But that was the only thing that bothered me. Dub was really good.
Ghost stories, Bebop, Trigun and FMA(OPINION ALERT)
One or two voices doesn't make a dub better overall.
>Also English haruhi sounds a bit more bitchy, but a lot less obnoxious.
Based Wendee Lee.
>liking the clannad dub
Wha? Doesn't this delivery sound fake and emotional-tension-ruining to you?
This role was the epitome of Steve Blum just talking.
>- Side/female characters sound like shit, but it's OK, because I think the main character sounds better than his Japanese counterpart
That's The Big O.
There is nothing "based" about her
>implying Mr. Iwamoto wasn't awesome as Wrath
The sound mixing is sometimes so terrible with flat mumbly voices in some dubs.
I wouldn't even say Freeman was better anyway, it's pretty close/even. Sugita pulls off the sarcasm better in my opinion.
dragonball z for sure
It's not like the Bebop dub is bad or anything, but are you seriously calling Steve Blum superior to Koichi Yamadera? Wendee Lee superior to Megumi Hayashibara? Nigga plz.
>maybe a bit worse
>who cares, mikuru a shit anyways
Are you ready for Wednesday?
Dub is fucking terrible, no idea why so many people like it.
The Japanese dub of Space Dandy is awful.
Kuroshitsuji, especially for Sebastian's voice. Dat english accent.
Because they watched it as kids, like 90% of these replies.
How is this so fucking funny?
Is Trigun even worth watching subbed? I tried reading the manga and thought it was a terrible mess, but that could just have been the translation.
I watched it for the first time recently and thought it was pretty terrible with some decent moments.
Yeah, that's what I figured. Thanks for stopping me from wasting my time anon.
Cromartie is the only one I can stand watching.
The rest just have voice actors who can't act, they just say the lines in a horrible monotone and they overreact all the time.
American VAs can't act for shit.
Cromartie's was good because they actually gave life to the anime, even if the japanese one has Wakamoto
A true sage here.
I think it would sound a lot better if a western company was given all the assets from the original production and have it rewritten and timed in a way that sounds natural in english.
I could see Sabat or Willingham pulling him off.
I just hope Viral's VA returns as Uzu.
Cromartie was decent as well, but you miss out on glorious Wakamoto-sama if you go dub, so it's a tossup
>Tfw years ago I got better at reading subs
>Don't even have to look at the bottom of the screen for more than a split second, unless it's long dialouge.
Feels good man
As for good dubs I've seen
And that's all.
Ritsu was fine, but why didn't they just let the other girls speak Japanese? People who watch only dubs would have to read subtitles for a little bit. Is it really that hard?
Confirmed for nostalgic 90's kid. Dbz is one of the shittiest dubs in existence.
you. i like you. i thought bosch was a fantastic lelouch. only outdone by whoever voiced the earl of pudding.
A lot of the 90s Manga Entertainment dubs were actually recorded in the UK. To make them more internationally marketable, they created what were called "mid-Atlantic" dubs - either finding American and Canadian actors living in London, or else having British actors put on American accents.
It's kind of cute when New Dominion Tank Police has a yankee drawler saying "what the bloody hell?"
Because that isn't Sentai's dub, that is just a quick promo thrown together by Anime Network.
Not only the english dub is superior to the japanese dub, but the spanish dub is even better that those two.
I don't even know what happened.
Golden Boy and Cromartie Highschool comes to mind.
Especially Golden Boy, the guy voicing the MC is so over the top but it fits so well for some reason. He does really put a lot of emotion into his performance.
Sorry but you are retarded if you actually think an english dub is better than the original.
I mean, yes, there are a few dubs which you can watch without wanting to commit suicide but thats it.
There is no fucking reason to watch a dub, anyway. Why not simply watch the original where you know what you get?
Cromartie High and GaoGaiGar
the Stardust Crusaders OVA dub was pretty good
but dat laura baily anon. dont deny the baily.
What are you even doing?
Kariya's voice was fucking top tier, but they butchered Lancer, Gil and Tokiomi.
>Dub recommendation thread with 300+ replies
As expected of neo-/a/.
El-Hazard. Even the Japanese prefer the dub, and I can't blame them. It really is THAT good, especially the VA for Ifurita.
I stopped watching dubs when I started watching anime as was airing.
But Jamieson Price and Liam O'Brien always will be top tier VAs for me.
Japs cannot into English accents and integra's japanese voice makes me want to hurt myself.
