What does /a/ think about FLCL?
>>
/a/ somewhat dislikes it from what I've seen so far.

I think it's great and exactly how you should make "fun" things.
I'm annoyed at how many fans think it's super deep just because it's not completely shallow though.

pretentious hipster shit

almost as bad as cowboy beebop

It was fucking great

I'm with you on this. It's not deep at all, it's just crazy indulgent Gainax/I.G. fun. Using recurring themes like baseball and guitars and puberty or whatever just adds another way to look at it, but it's not saying anything new or profound or anything.

Reiterated visual imagery =/= symbolism or profundity

Finally, someone who doesn't hate this show. I was starting to think that I was the only one who liked this anime.

Master baiter.

/a/ thinks it's a masterpiece. Anyone who says differently is a troll and/or trying too hard to fit in.

Has one of my all time favorite OST's.

I enjoyed it thoroughly during my early adolescence and I still do. Personally I thought the motifs were used pretty cleverly and for such a short series I think each episode was quite solid, getting across whatever point that they were trying to convey and wrapping itself up quite well. I don't know what the deal with all of the pretentious faggots on /a/ vehemently opposing ignorantly whatever happens to be popular, like there's no merit to be found in it.

It's not deep. It doesn't have to be to accomplish what it does: Provide the viewers with an entertaining coming of age story that happens to have tons sexual innuendo and robots. It's not at all shallow, not as 'deep' as something like Utena either. It sits well at the middleground.

I say give it a try and don't place a great amount of value in the opinions of the pretentious, insuffeable cuntrags on this board. They're as shitty as /v/ when it comes to offering you anything in the way of a helpful opinion.

It's not profound, but it's not random

Everything was put there for a reason whether it was to bring the point across or just Gainax fanwanking like most Gainax anime most of the "random" parts are pop-cultural and otaku references

While this is true, it reads like a copypasta.

It's probably my all time favorite, 6 episodes of compact fun, great animation, and a brilliant soundtrack (I wish the Pillows weren't such complete shit nowadays) that comes together in a great anime.

Unfortunately, it aired on Cartoon Network in the US, which means it cannot be discussed without 1/3rd of the people on /a/ trolling the shit out of it, and another 1/3rd feeling the need to try to "poke holes" in it because it's popular and therefore can't be good.
