Was it the same guy drawing this or did he just get better?
He just have better equipment
>2004 original drawning
>2014 generic drawning
He got better. You see it in several works.
If you compare Tashiro's art in AgK from the first and latest chapters, you can see how much it's improved
This shit is still running? What the fuck?
I have to say I prefer the look of the 2004 drawings
It just ended, the ending was complete shit by the way.
That's pretty cool. I'd love to see other comparison pics of long-running manga.
Looks like he learned about screentone.
Pretty sure after 10 years of drawing that the artists style stayed exactly the same
Anyone has the Belldandy chart? tat guy sure improved.
OP's pic is a bad example
past Rosario looked more generic back then
Mad your slutfu didn't win?
If you think "moka" disappearing was the only thing to get mad at I don't know what to tell you.
You might argue Claymore hasn't gotten much better over the years, but that's just as much a fault of the artistic direction to make all claymores look so similar outside of freak mutants like Clarice ;_;
Shame that the plot didn't
You can see Kōsuke Fujishima getting better in this Belldandy progression.
Still one more chapter to go.
At least we now know that's because Belldandy has been magically castrating K1 for the past 20 years.
Wow, is the art at the start really that bad?
That doesn't solve the whole "let's increase the powerlevels even faster than bleach does then culminate in a naruto style talk the villain into giving up" problem.
This is probably the best example of drawing everyday over a long period of time, you improve incredibly.
Could be like kubo or school rumble artist and get worse as time goes on.
The faces were weird but the rest was ok
You have no idea how much an artist can improve in 10 years. Look at how different the first chapter of Tenjou Tenge looks compared to the last
I could have sworn he got a different artist. I can almost pinpoint the chapter when the art started looking different.
Somebody post those manga art progression videos on Nico, I lost the links.
Berserk is probably the penultimate example of an artist evolving in skill and style. Comparing volume 1 to the latest chapters is mind boggling.
I vaguely remember this anime, haven't read the manga at all. Is it worth picking up?
What is the final conclusion? Does MC get with hot silver-haired main girl?
It is a monthly now. Monthly releases are so much better than weekly. Surprised no one brought this up.
Of course his experience does helps.
No, he wants to bang silver's mom but she dies and he cries.
You're using that word wrong.
>Berserk is probably the penultimate example of an artist evolving in skill and style.
Penultimate doesn't mean what you think it means.
Personally, I liked vol. 3 to vol.19 styles for Gutts best.
Wait, what? Which one is it?
Ah, well, sounds like they removed Pink for best girl, so it's all good, though hopefully MC won't be too much of a faggot about it.
Any chance of the remainder being animated?
Don't bother, it's a waste of time.
>Surprised no one brought this up.
Probably because it's been running for 10 years.
Pink turns out to have been Moka's mom.
She sacrifices herself in the end to stop the big bad while Tsukune cries and they confess their love for each other while silver Moka stands by and watches the whole thing.
Yes, Moka's mom NTR'd her.
That's not Hirohiko Araki.
Are you saying 10 years of experience makes you better at something?
I guess ability to draw characters in an increasingly androgynous way counts as an increase in skill.
There are two different series, the first one was a weekly. That is the 2004 in OP's pic.
Well, fuck, that depressing.
God damn it MC, I knew you had shit taste, but that's just beyond terrible.
The first one was Monthly too
Another mangaka that improved his style during the years was OH Great!
Just check out the first chapters of Tenjo Tenge with the last ones.
Too bad his writing didn't improved too.
That is not Bastard's author
Oh really? well then never mind. Sure makes you wonder how since it really looked bad. Could just be the scans and editing I guess.
>meanwhile in america
Jesus mother of fuck.
spoiler that shit
Yes,they got some Extra Chapters in WSJ when Monthly Shonen Jump disappeared
He's still pretty bad, but at least he's sort of better now.
His architectural skills though on the other hand are pretty damn good (considering his original background.)
>looks like absolute shit
No, this guy needs to be shot, don't say anything nice.
what faggot wears a sweater on a beach?
Not by much
So is this left to right?
This still exists? I remember checking it out when I was in fucking middle school (in grad school at this point for reference) and even then I thought it was bad. I liked fucking everything back then.
Oops wrong pick
Damn I forgot about this guy
I love threads like these.
Anyone got that Soul Eater chart like this? The artwork's quality jumped up so much over the years.
What else would you expect from a PS2 accessory?
I've read MT back in High School (2003-2007?), and apparently I liked it then. Not so much now, especially ever since his wife got sick and then they had their child and progress slowed almost to a halt.
A lot of people think Bleach got worse but I disagree. Sure, it's a little less distinctive, but it's far from generic, and it has much more detail, better shading, perspective, everything. Look at Yamamoto at the bottom; early-mid Bleach would never get anything like that. (Fuck you if you bitch about the panda.)
Also for some reason he dropped all shading lately?
The only bad part about Kubo's art is No background and Same face, but the art of bleach is great,i hope that he make a Monthly Manga when bleach ends
2006 was the pinnacle of One Piece's Art
too large for /a/
Honestly, I think MT was good from when they stopped using 4 panels up through Chapter 8 -- before that it was a poor man's Penny Arcade (which was good back then), after that it became a confusing mess. It balanced a few interesting plotlines, and the delusional "weeaboo who gets his dream Japanese waifu" plot that most people bemoan is both overblown and not any worse than "generic beta faggot gets a harem of hot pussy" seen everywhere else. (It's still pretty cringeworthy though.)
2006 was the pinnacle of One Piece in general
Mangaka usually get better with their designs thanks drawing experience compared to when they first started out.
I don't know, if Bleach ever had anything going for it it was its art and character design.
fujino kiyoshi and his pals look so different.
>getting NTR'd by your mother
>Too bad his writing didn't improved too.
He improved how fast he can kill a good set-up with bullshit nonsense.
2003 - 2006 had the best One Piece art
Are there any like this for Naruto, Bleach, Soul Eater, and Hajime no Ippo?
Damn, Guts. You got old.
Gotta disagree with you there. Skypiea was pretty much the most One Piece arc of One Piece. All that adventure, the story, the characters, it was great.
There was a Soul Eater one but I didn't save it.
How old is he, anyway?
Stop it boner. I just dealt with you a minute ago
Rave and Bleach will be good examples
probably 28 or something
Guts is late 20s early 30s.
I love when artist get so much better as the series goes on and by the end you didn't even notice.
>changing drawing style
>no Hunter x Hunter
isn't there supposed to be a epilogue chapter or some shit?
Silver was really the most important reason I continued reading. Now that I know she get's ntr'd, I can drop it without any remorse.
Not for everyone.
I will bother you till the end of time
>Tsukune admits he liked both Mokas
>Thinking this won't be resolved in the epilogue
Hate people crying NTR for no reason at all
Are there any batches up for season 2?
I liked the Skypiea arc as well. It was good in the anime too in my opinion
Looks about the same in term of technique and style.
I personally enjoyed it. The last 3 volumes are definitely a drop in quality and drag way to long, but overall it was a fun experience.
Anyone the Maou one?
There are just some artists that are blessed with immense talent, but can't sustain a plot to save their life. Air Gear and Gantz come to mind.
He is 24 or younger, definitely not 30.
There have not been any dates stated recently but Guts was 21 when he took down those Priests and met Farnese. So, how long was he in fact on the boat and all? The kids in his group certainly have not grown up much so I am going to say he is 22-23.
I but was amazed too.
His facial expressions are still awkward as fuck. IE: Some of the expressions in Boku wa Mari are so offputting. Like the father -- I can't tell if its meant to be foreshadowing of him being a molester, or just really awkward expressions drawn for him.
>Took down an empire
>Survived the trip to hell three times
>Met two witches and a dead king
>Fought a god, god's messengers, and trying to kill one
>Killed hundreds of thousands of people
>Killed thousands of demons
>Spent a life time on a boat
What have you been doing with your life /a/?
>Took down dinner
>Survived the trip to the bathroom three times
>Met two bitches and a dead racoon
>Fought a spider, spider's messengers, and DID kill one
>Killed hundreds of thousands of doritos
>Killed thousands of cheetos
>Spent a lifetime on /a/
>Took down dinner
>Survived the trip to the bathroom three times
What the hell did you eat?
You sir are awesome
>>Fought a spider, spider's messengers, and DID kill one
>Eyebrows are actually uder the hair in 2014.
I remember buying the manga way back and I was so turned off by the art of the early volumes, I couldn't even finish the ones I bought at the time.
Same author did Claymore, which for all the many faults I remember delicious tight midriffs.
Do you prefer newer or older?
Fuck, was Moyashimon really 7 years ago?
He kinda devolved at least in terms of faces after the first half of 7.
the only good One Piece art is the porn
Gunnerkrig is a better example.
This makes me sad as an artist to see such little improvement in 10 whole fucking years. Some of these guys have been drawing for like 20+ years too.
That's quite nice.
>all those details lost
I guess it's cheaper and faster that way.
I don't know what manga this is, but I enjoy 2004 more than 2014
Volume 9 looks like shit. Anything before it is better.
I don't like the art in the last Berserk volumes, it feels more generic.
I don't like where Eren, Armin and Mikasa went, the rest is okay.
I don't like how square Guts' face has become.
Are you fucking serious? The latter part of 7 has some of the best art in comics generally, especially the faces.
Late Part 7 art is absolutely great, but the faces got a bit samey at that point too. He seems to be fixing it in Part 8 though
I think Armin can keep going in the direction he's going
It would be more surprising to see no improvement at all.
I still think that part 3 is his absolute best.
The original style of that comic is charming, at least. I have nothing good to say about Megatokyo's original style or the artist's progression over the years, which from my point of view seems minimal.
He's gotta have sold his soul to the devil
I've always been amazed by how much Katsura Hoshino's art improved over the course of D.Gray Man, especially when I went back and read through it all at once.
It was tough to get some good non-spoilerish screens of Allen in later chapters but her art is just amazing.
Maybe if I'm bored I'll do one for the others. ESPECIALLY Lenalee and Road, the difference in those two is crazy.
After 10 years you would probably improve around about that much.
Really? chapter one looks the best to me. Interested in the lenalee ones though.
Lenalee looks very cute in the later chapters with her hair growing out.
I've dropped D gray man because after volume 8 the art went to generic shit, what the fuck are you talking about?
Again, earliest chapter looks best to me.
Too bad the story went to shit with as his art progressed.
Yep, latest chapter looks the best here.
yfw you realize the choices in OP's question is technically the same.
captcha: lestits wanting
Took me a while.
>Delicous brown loli
I hade forgotten she existed
Nothing else even comes close
Togashi operates on another level
Nah, I don't think so.
He gets better, unlike Isayama
I know, he's just lazy. I'm reading Yu Yu Hakusho right know and the art was amazing.
About Tgashi I like the fact that he seems to experiment with his art, likes to mix different styles and you can tell that he loves western comics and is influenced by them.
Why the hell are all these great artists stuck doing crap in niche magazines while tards like Kubo or Kishimoto with their Deviantart tier drawings get spots in WSJ?
That was really not necessary.
Finally thread where I can post this
Are you retarded?
You mean she is the best or it was for the best I forgot?
Because the story? Even with Togashi's latest art, it can still get Japan hyped each chapter.
Umi no Misaki is an example of this
Good/average art -> Lazy shit fucking art why do all the girls now look horrible and the MC's hair gets simpler and simpler
Pic obviously not related, right? Fucking disgusting.
But he always does that? Go compare AYO vol1 and vol17. It's the same.
She is the best.
To be fair that doesn't make Oh Great justice at all, it was one of his first art.
It all looks the same
Are you implying popular shonens have good story? Really?
They could hire a mediocre novelist and he would make a better story. And hire a good artist to do the art.
But that's the LN industry.
What about ONE
>Gunnerkrig is a better example
Tom "cheated" a little since his overal art skill was better than what he did for GC at the beginning. The early art was an artistic attempt, not his full powerlevel
I doubt his art would look better if he had a weekly schedule.
It's still way ahead of anything from WSJ though.
LN industry is fanfic writers + hentai artists.
I hope you're not saying that the principal doesn't look hell of a lot more refined now than he was when he first appeared.
Yeah, that's what I said.
>implying "huurrrriginal" means better
look at one piece, shitty horrid art.
I guess I'll post this one.
Is it just me, or has he gotten worse?
It's Isayama. He's in a class of his own.
It's you, just look at Erwin's face in the first chapter.
>OhGreat teams up with a writer
>his manga is still a clusterfuck shit
Not matter how much I look it, his new face still looks like balls
Stardust Crusader years were the best years. After that, he just went full niggerlips and never looked back.
they look like from madoka
Middle Part 4 a best.
g8 b8 m8
It's almost like they're drawn by the same artist, man. It's hella uncanny.
Are you serious?
Anyone have an Akame ga Kill comparaison?
>Wow.....its fucking nothing
Is that suppose to look good? Seriously why the fuck are Bleachfags so fucking stupid?
A man of good taste.
How did this...
Turn to this?
>Sure, it's a little less distinctive, but it's far from generic, and it has much more detail, better shading, perspective
>giant vagina flower
Thank you, Togashi.
Sorry, had to post it.
That was such a great ending.
How the fuck can you call that improvement? You can't even tell who's who anymore.
It actually looks a lot shittier now
Holy shit is this manga still going?
It didn't really improve.
He got better at drawing attractive character, but his style is now more generic, not to mention every page is a complete mess with each panel exploding on the others, making action scenes very hard to read.
Did you even read the first 6 posts?
Hoshino is a chick bro and yeah it's evident that her art got worse just from looking at Valvrave.
Most disappointing series ending of my life.
>Thinks Bleach got better over time
>Preemptively bitches at no one in particular
Yeah, this seems about right for a Bleach fan.
Every fight in YYH ended with an asspull or a curbstomp with few exceptions, and the actual ending was utter garbage, are you kidding me?
Berserk is the best example.
it went from something, to more refined and more generic to full generic gay yaoi style
I remembered that as I read my post for typo.
It really has been a long time since I've read any chapter of this serie. I used to buy all the volumes.
What was the asspull in Yusuke beating Toguro's ass?
Or any of Hiei's wins?
Heaven forbids I defend Naruto, but Sakura wasn't designed to be attractive
Why the long face Uryuu?
To hint that Ichigo was a Quincy
Yusuke actually surviving any attack from someone literally more muscle than man.
>Or any of Hiei's wins?
Are you actually fucking serious
The guy's understanding of anatomy hasn't changed significantly in the period. As for whether right looks better stylistically, maybe a little bit because it's not as crowded but that's about it.
I'd say he's not progressed much in the timeframe.
>Another mangaka that improved his style during the years was OH Great!
His art is too stylized nowadays. Still good but feels incredibly bland. Tenjho Tenge was the peak of his work but he started showing signs of deterioration in the last arc and it became more evident with Air Gear.
So is Bleedman then the representative of the Philippines.
Ken. You're not an artist.
Whatever, you're just not being objective.
I dunno man, rereading it just came off as mediocre most of the time, and really badly written fightwise. The very page posted was another "Kurama pulls a demon seed out of his ass and shits victory all over the opponent".
Every fight is just asspull end, but most of the time at the end OH NO, the hero suffered a dangerous wound! That fight sure was a close one, huh!
>Trying to work logic in shounen battle-manga
>The same genre where losing liters of blood and giving speeches on morals means the protagonist is going to win
No one "improved" as much as Yabuki did.
Most people just learn to draw better, only he evolved like a glorious Phoenix.
It's interesting but unsurprising that for many long series I've read the art quality usually peaks somewhere in the middle.
>No one "improved" as much as Yabuki did.
Except that's wrong because he was good to begin with. I remember liking the art in Black Cat. Unless he was atrocious in his previous work, but that image is no indication.
Man, even Yabuki went through a whole lot of improvement before getting to where he is now. And the guy wasn't a bad artist to begin with, considering I liked his art in Black Cat, which if I remember correctly came out 14 years ago.
A case of - I got tired of this shit so I'll draw it as fast as I can.
>moe at work
Do you even know what improving means? You can start out good and still get better.
Yabuki was amazing with his change.
He perfected himself when started drawing with his dick.
I think her art style was best at the beginning, it reached it's peak during the Edo arc and from there on it's been going downhill, and since she had that injury it's just been atrocious, sometimes I can't even tell the characters apart from one another.
Yes, and? The improvement of someone who started out terribly and got to a high level is greater than the improvement of someone who was already good from the start. Unless you're suggesting Yabuki is the best artist in the world, then...okay.
Aku no Hana's art changed and improved a lot along the way.
I think this is the point where the art was as its best.
Several chapters later, the art became more minimalist. It's still better than before but there are less details here and there.
>Himawari's braids got smaller and smaller
It all went to her brests or something?
It's actually the contrary, everyone can start out shit and finally get okay later on, but only few can start already good and still manage to evolve into a whole new level.
You really think that's good? The perspective is fucked; the chairs and desks look like they are only a couple of centimeters apart.
>You really think that's good?
No, I don't and that's the whole point.
That's chapter 1, see >>101455538
dammit I want to read this series so bad
The hair highlight really doesn't add anything.
On last pic he looks like manly Touma.
I don't think it's the best example
Miura as a whole is the best example though, comparing ones of his first work Futatabi to now
Futatabi looks 80s as fuck and it looks like it was drawn by a 15 year old
It suprises me how much Jun Mochizuki has improved since she started Pandora Hearts. There's quite a difference when you compare her older chapters with the latest ones. Not to mention her colouring has improved a lot too, her coloured stuff looks great.
So what exactly is going on in Rosario+Vampire that's making everyone here talk about it again?
Its ogre barring an epilogue
Did Inner or Outer Moka win da Tsukune?
Outer is actually her mother and yes she did win and then died
Just how is he able to manage to do several series at once?
So lemme get this straight...
Outer Moka, is actually Inner Moka's mom. Inner Moka is the true Moka but Tsukune ditches her and Inner Moka gets NTR'd by her mom? Then Outer Moka dies and both Tsukune and Inner Moka are forever alone?
Well thank god I dropped this piece of shit a long time ago.
>Outer Moka, is actually Inner Moka's mom's clone.
Series ending with death or separation or no sexual conclusion should be outlawed faster than they want to ban loli. There is nothing more cheap and forced than that.
Ok I just read it. I think you guys over exaggerated it. It wasn't NTR but it does end inconclusively.
Holy shit that first example, is like I draw that myself.
One thing I don't like is how damn near every manga artist has settled on the pointy chin.
which one /a/?
Stop using VLC. Get better taste. Stop downloading shitty releases. Rename your downloads.
Looks like it could be ending in a few chapters.
>External Hard Drive
most overhyped shit on the whole fucking planet
wat's wrong with dat?
>Survived the trip to the bathroom three times
>Met two bitches and a dead racoon
>Fought a spider, spider's messengers, and DID kill one
you are the hero we need, not the one we deserve
Playing videos right from an external HDD is bad for the drive.
Not to mention all external HDDs are ripoffs anyway and never last nearly as long as internals.
i dropped a little after the pacifier arc began
how did it end?
Can't you explain it yourself?
This progression is practically generic shonen in 1 to generic josei art in the last one.
They are made to be storage devices, not to be constantly swapping data.
You do realize that the difference between an internal and an external HDD is just the interface, right? Oh wait, have you ever tried to open an external HDD? I guess not.
They are normally laptop hard drives inside a protective case. There is literally no technical difference between other 2.5" hard disks. This is the most ridiculous thing ive ever heard.
>He refers me to /g/ because he doesn't know what he's saying.
>imprisoned by reasons
>not moeblob crying bitch
>gets NTRed by her own mother
What the fuck. What the fuck. How the fuck is that a good conclusion. What was even the point of her being "inner" Moka then. Why not just have pink Moka be the only Moka and enters vampire mode when she feels threatened or some shit. What the fuck.
there exists HDD cases for 3.5/2.5 so that you can use internal as external. Not that you should know it, you probably know jack about your hardware
ikki toshi, cho ginga, gurren lagann!
Agreed. Before it was okay but now, the art, the coloring... damn. Just beautiful.
