ITT: most gigantic ass pulls you've ever seen on the screen
Shit nigga, you should've started with this.
Nah, not really.
The system doesn't kill people immediately, otherwise that revival item wouldn't work at all.
The end of KnK where Mirai comes back with no explanation.
Is there anything he isn't by now?
It was his imagination, you colossal retard.
OP you fucked up, it was his imagination
Ugh fucking this.
>'I never thought I could live without her, but here I am, living on without her'
And I was all like.
Hey, that's a cool way of putting it, it shows character development and that while you can lose a loved one you can move on and live your life yada yada yada emotional connections good writing blah blah
>'Lol jks not rly dead'
Oh I guess everything is meaningless then. HAPPY ENDING FOR ALL THERE ARE NO CONSEQUENCES FOR ANYTHING
Samefag fanboys, please go.
All the shit this faggot did
His power is cheating at all games.
Yo, how many times do people have to mention LNs before it actually hits you?
Yugi's had the biggest one though
>"God Cards aren't affected by Trap Cards!"
>"I'm not affecting your monster, I'm affecting the ground AROUND it"
It was funny at least, yugioh is enjoyable if you just laugh at how bullshit everything is.
Plus kaiba is a fucking badass.
>on the screen
Shit nigga. Shit.
Try harder animeonlyfag
explanation is pretty much this >>101400729
This was exactly how I felt the first time wrath of god got used against one of my protection from white creatures in mtg.
'Destroy all creatures!'
'Ahh but my guy lives because he has protection from white!'
'Lolno, wrath of god doesn't target'
I know it makes sense in the rules, but it feels so shit the first time it happens.
She's a youmu now. Her family already had youmu blood, it's where her powers came from. And instead of needing the feelings of a lot of people to come into life, like usual youmu, she just needed those of one immensely powerful person.
Or wait for S2 for an official confirmation
Try to top this one.
Was hoping manga provide better ending, but it was not so great
Yeah at least not as shit as animu ending
The fucking faggot took Kaiba's turn in the movie.
He isn't Ed's mother.
Fortunately, I dropped KnK early on, so I don't know which ending was worse. At least Ghost Yomi was a fun ride.
No, the Kurosaki-kun x100 mega power-up was a massively bigger asspull than that.
No. There are humans, Quincy, Shinigami, Fullbringers, and Zanpakuto. Ichigo is all of these, at least at some point.
what is this
Isn't there something like vampires too?
What anime is that from?
I'd have a nice one if this series end up with him becoming god-like entity. Eva fans would fall off their chairs.
Only in filler. The bounts.
I only read the manga though.
In the ending, didn't he flat-out admit that he can cheat?
You forgot a Hollow. He's also that.
The final episode of this
Oh god, this.
Hollows are humans.
At least in the anime.
Is the ending the same as the manga one? I liked the manga ending.
Oh yeah, I meant to write that in.
Sure, whatever. Sorry, I dropped manga during Fullbringer arc because I had enough of that shit, so I haven't really get any details on this topic.
>perfect bittersweet ending
>nah nigga we all alive and well government contracts you know the drill
all of KLK
The ass pull is that there will never be a season 2.
>still not getting that scene
You mean the one where she comes back from leaving forever? That happens in the anime too. No wedding dress Yuuko, though.
And what the hell did you think you were watching, anyway?
>no wedding dress
Dropped it before I even picked it up.
What anime was it?
I agree with you, but some people who really liked KnK actually managed to somewhat explain the ending. You can't do that with Ghost Yomi. I'm pretty fucking sure that Yuuko > most best girls > shit > more shit > fuyukai desu, though.
You're scaring me. I've only seen the first episode so far. Is it worth watching through, or does the ending kill it?
So apart from being able to dual wield he's also impervious to dying? Being in a video game means you're data, and if your hp drops to zero then you're programmed to die. So yeah you can say you don't die immediately, but why didn't that chick who died earlier just keep on fighting after she was killed? I'm not even going to get into Kirito one-shotting an admin with immortal status while in a half-dead state. Face it, SAO was literally asspull: the animation.
Boku no Pico online
Boku no Nigga go.
LOL I AM GOD NOW
Sword Art Online then? I guess that explains why I didn't know what it was, since I never watched that shitty show.
No, pick it up for Hara Yumi's Yuuko and fucking backgrounds. Just get ready for quite a lot of anime-original content, especially in the second half. Also they completely changed Yukariko's character (to make her less bitchy) so if you like that, I'd say pick it up.
You're not fooling anyone.
Every single thing related to Hokuto Shinken.
Though it's a given how hilarious these asspulls are, you were anticipating what kind of other asspul Kenshiro would pull out.
Sword no Pico
Did he really just stop the hammer of the gun with a fucking card
A recurring theme in the authors works is the power of the mind over the machine, the same thing happens in Accel World with the Incarnate System.
Other than that, there's this revival item, which shows up at some point during the SAO arc and it's mentioned that it has a 5(?) minute time limit on reviving people after death.
That proves that the NervGear doesn't instantly fry the brain when someone dies in the game.
It's another of those anime where traveling hopefully is better than arriving. The ride is great (and full of feels); it's just that Japan doesn't into endings yet again.
>everyone is back alive
>live happily ever after
Literally the cancer killing anime
Anime states it's 10 seconds.
Oh and all those imagination niggers. Anime does nothing to indicate it was so. And the thread is about tv shows not LN, so how about you please go.
The ending is conflicting. There are good aspects and there are bad. I'll just be kind to it and say that it did it's job of resolving the story.
The entirety of Star Driver
Yes I know I shouldn't watch it for the mecha but literally every fight is won by the means of an asspull
Wait, is this the official explanation in the novels?
Because there's no reason they couldn't have put that in the last episode.
HEART OF THE CARDS
That's some nice logic you have there
How many times are you going to mention the LNs before you actually read the LNs and realize that it plainly WASN'T his imagination?
Re-read the entire fucking part from Kirito getting stabbed to the end of the chapter and then come back to me.
That's what I said!
"Nope, we're done with this series, that was fucking stupid."
Yu Yu Hakusho did the same thing (attacking the entire area to hit an otherwise unhittable enemy) at least two times and no one complained about that.
>Not reveling in the stupidity
Yu yu didn't have random ass power ups all over the place.
You never refer to yourself as a plural entity?
Like "and we're back!"
Such skill !
>All the fags in this thread complaining about Kyoukai no Kanata's ending
Holy shit, get some taste plebs.
The only asspull involving transforming kamui was against Gamagoori and only because it was the first time.
Because he assumes he's talking for all of us.
I'm sure as fuck he isn't talking for me.
God dammit, I'm still frustrated. Why do they ruin such a perfect ending?
Even though it's pretty obvious that the Kamui, especially Senketsu, are walking, living asspulls, you have to admit that they left enough info to justify it.
2 star goku uniforms, 20% life fibers, could make great transformations. No reason a uniform made entirely out of them couldn't do some crazy shit.
Well I'm not, 'we' was referring to KlK and me.
Kuwabara's second spectral sword and Yosuke's demonic powers were asspullish too.
Didn't you know? Japanese cards are made with paper that's folded over 1000 times.
But that was sort of the point of those two or three episodes; Senketsu is evolving, he's capable of adapting, and there's no limit to what he and Ryuuko can accomplish working together.
Mind over the machine? A machine is limited in what you can and cannot do, anybody should know this. Our bodies are a perfect example, can you fly? No. Can you fly if you think about it really hard? No. How many instances can you name where you died in a videogame, got really upset, and magically came back to life?
And using all these revival items as examples only further shows how many asspulls this show has.
every breaking bad episode.
well still... i dont understand how people can say it was any good
I know. I just didn't like that as a plot point. I thought it was stupid and poorly done so I stopped watching.
Get me everytime.
Because it was a fantastic character story you ultra pleb.
Yusuke did it in a narrow hallway and a narrow alleyway. KLKfags can't accept their shit show did everything wrong.
>so I stopped watching
Christ, some people have no patience.
Because it was a fantastic character story you ultra pleb.
Dude Senketsu straight up explains how he figured to transform in the show.
If you're going to complain about something complain about Ryuuko's anti-dubstep technique. THAT shit came out of nowhere.
But Ryuuko's the least characterized one. She has not developed once since Ep 1.
>KLKfags can't accept their shit show did everything wrong
Or, you know, people have their opinions.
Look at you, aren't you stupid.
Mirai was inside the KnK, and when KnK is absorbed by Aki, Mirai turns into the ring, which Aki keeps. Then, when Aki walks out of school with the ring in hand he remembers the first time he met Mirai and suddenly feels very strong feelings of sadness/longing. Now, we know that things can be created from strong emotions (like youmu are and zombie Aki was) so a new zombie Mirai appears from Aki's feelings and possibly also from KnK's power, but the real Mirai, which is in form of a ring, instantly merges with it (the same way zombie Aki and real Aki did when he entered the KnK) and what results is the Mirai you see on the rooftop in the last scene.
I waited an entire cour.
>it shows character development
>THERE ARE NO CONSEQUENCES FOR ANYTHING
Aki gained control of the KnK, Mirai and him now have friends, Izumi was exposed, Mirai is free of Izumi as result, etc.
>this is how far kyoanifags will go to defend their shows
Don't forget Kuwabara flattening Elder Toguro.
Talking about asspulls, everyone is forgetting one:
>I can stop time too
>Growth =/= Development
On the same note
>Developed =/= Good
Don't have a pic atm, but "kill all elevens" is pretty high up there for me.
This so much.
"I guess I'll just attack everywhere!"
"Actually senketsu is spikes!"
"Actually he's a plane"
"I can send sound back if I pose like this"
So which was the most asspull ending of the three? TOxA, KnK or KamiInai?
It's on purpose though
Like you have to be fucking stupid to not get it, it was clearly showed that this is what happened when Aki entered the KnK and merged with his zombie version.
She got neither growth nor development. Everone else did. But not her. If she was not part pf this show. I would still be watching. But she's the goddamn protagonist and I hate her and the Devas aren't worth seeing her mary sue ass every week.
Not ever top tier Iori can bring me back.
8/8 thought you were serious
>Mirai turns into the ring
Stopped reading right there, you realize you're trying to defend how this show isn't an asspull right?
>mary sue ass
She got the crap kicked out of her many times.
2-star boxing club president, Sanageyama, Satsuki, and especially Nui.
So basically all of you hate fun?
If a show doesn't explain everything from the very beginning, allows surprises and doesn't follow a strict formula it's shit?
No wonder all of you love slice of life shows so much
Honestly, I don't think this is an asspull, Jotaro being able to stop time was a bigger one then GER.
Somebody post the guys that play YGO online and pulled shit like "I blew off the candle of fate" and shit like that
Does this show count?
I can call out shows for having ridiculous asspulls while still enjoying the shit out of every second of them.
And then won by wanting it hard enough and believing in the power of friendship.
Oh my god
It's not an asspull when the weak ass 3 start uniforms can transform but when the totally overpowered 10-star equivalent can oh man that's just when logic goes out the window huh?
Softness > Megane
And that's not a mary sue, just shitty writing.
so how was that scene in the american version?
As I said, it's a theme he likes to use.
It's rather common in cyberpunk, the entire interaction of the mind and the machine and how they influence each other.
And that one revival item justifies the entire thing perfectly, because it proves that the system doesn't instantly fry the brain of people the moment their hp reaches 0.
Except it was elaborated on the fucking next episode - she can abuse the power of the kamui, but it will turn her into a monster. The ND event tried to put a bullet in her skull for "evolving" too fast.
She won by using a ridiculously powerful weapon, strategy, and exploiting enemy weaknesses.
She beat 2-star boxer because 2-stars ain't shit against a kamui.
She still hasn't beaten Sanageyama since he got ultra-strong. And the first time she did beat him was because she blinded him, removing his greatest sense, allowing her to strike.
She still can only get to a draw against Satsuki.
Nui is still unbelievably more powerful than her.
Look, I'd let you get away with claiming that the "Senketsu can grow spikes" thing as an asspull, because it's the first time Senketsu transformed, but everything else does make perfect sense, because it happens after it's established that Senketsu can transform.
That doesn't make it any less terrible.
It was properly foreshadowed, maybe you should stop having ADD?
>the power of friendship
It's closer to the power of symbiosis, though.
Or, you know, you can have your opinion and let others have theirs.
/r/ing the five headed god dragon one or whatever the fuck its called
I ain't even mad
No, those are just M. Night Samalamaramadamadingdong TWEESTS.
I'm talking about her mako fight.
Yeah because realizing she doesn't need revenge for her fathers death, and since the first time she met mako, she hasn't been slowly developing her first friend since she was pretty much abandoned by her father and learning what a real family is like since mako's family has been taking care of her isn't growth or development. and also that the fact that she grown ever less dependent on herself and more on her friends isn't growth or development. sure
And that seems like it'll be a big point later on. Satsuki is fucking exhausted and drained from using Junketsu in Life Fiber Override. Ryuuko, after tons of fighting in Life Fiber Synchronize just reverts and goes about her day.
You've done enough good deeds, here's your dead wife and duaughter back, no hard feelings, right?
So Kuwabara made a flyswater smaller than the small tournament grounds. It wasn't that much of an asspull since Togoru sr. was already injured.
>I can stop time
I don't recall anyone in YYH with that power.
That fight was Mako trying to snap her family out of the rich, snobby languor they've become addicted to.
All the fucking shit in Zero. 90% of it was so fucking stupid, but so good at the same time.
Oh look, another one of Bear's retarded ass opinions
What anime is this?
There others were foreshadowed but this was an asspull. Shit came out of nowhere.
Sword Art Online
But most of the manga was objectively stupid asspulls
Why is it that almost nobody complains when an entire show is built on successively ridiculous asspulls, but when a show has just one that ruins it forever?
That other world had to be good for something so imo it wasn't that much of an asspull
Because JoJo did it style. The asspulls were always there, so you mostly looked forward to them, like looking forward to an exciting new plot twist.
I don't think that justifies raising the dead. If nothing else the world should have just saved Ushio and left it at that.
> did it with* style
He uses the card to nick the trigger finger holding the invisible gun.
Lol probably cut off altogether though
>but the real Mirai, which is in form of a ring
Nope. Just admit it. KyoAni copped out.
No. All foreshadowed.
All this KlK damage control is hilarious.
Stop being stupid.
Nice try, IRC.
In the VN, you could get the ending where she lived only after completing every other route and making everyone else happy. Kind of an endless eight-esque "my power to bend reality comes from infinite iterations of myself" sort of deal.
It's not like they could explain clearing other routes and starting a new game in the adaptation.
That poster itself foreshadowed everything and it was out before the show even aired.
That's not foreshadowing.
I realize that and I guess I can't blame them for wanting to animate the true ending, but I still feel it came off as really cheesy.
Damage control and explaining things in a thread about events without explanation are two different things.
Whatever it is, it was planned from the beginning.
Do you even understand what we're talking about here? We're not talking about themes here, we're talking about why SAO is one massive asspull.
Bypassing the limits of a machine and coming back to life isn't a common theme in cyberpunk, it's a common theme in generic, shitty shounen anime with gary stu protags. I don't even know how you came to the conclusion that SAO and Accel World are cyberpunk unless you're literally 13.
>because it proves that the system doesn't instantly fry the brain of people the moment their hp reaches 0
Did I say they died instantly in real life as soon as they died in-game? No. I said they died in-game if they died in-game. Also, I'm still not sure why you keep bringing revival items up considering neither the anime nor the LN mentions Kirito using one during that scene.
This is the most bullshit of all bullshit asspull that I've seen in.
Fucking Gary Stu...
>Hinting at the future is not foreshadowing.
If the series itself doesn't say it then doesn't mean shit.
>I hate this
>Well actually you shouldn't because it's supposed to be out of place and unexplained, you see it's actually quite well thought out, and if you paid attention you'd know that her power is to have more powers. And because you knew that this was her power when she uses it all the time to win every fight its not an asspull but in fact a characterization moment.
>"You can't damage me because HURR HIGH LEVEL DURR"
>I hate this because it did this non-explained shit
>They spelled that shit right out to you episodes ago
>we're done with this series
So basically you're saying that the series is done with itself?
>I hate that his ability is to be whatever is needed to win the fight.
>Well actually he says he can transform so really that can mean that he can be anything.
>That's fucking stupid
>Well actually it's supposed to be stupid because this show is tongue in cheek
This was foreshadowed and it still felt cheap. Worst part of the series for me.
>I hate that he can transform to adapt to situations
>They established that vastly weaker uniforms can transform since episode 1
I still don't know why Homura remembers Madoka if no one else does.
Because she had the strongest bonds with Madoka after being with her through multiple timelines.
>I hate that they use 'adaption' as 'plot armor'.
Because of her powers.
So it ends up being about the power of friendship and love?
I guess it is a magical girl show, after all.
Because she was with Madoka when she rewrote the universe.
But no, really, is because of her power.
It's an unfinished series you massive retard. How are you people having difficulty understanding that you shouldn't expect a complete explanation on something that hasn't ended yet?
>>101403987 was just offering his stupid as fuck opinion as to what happened.
>I hate that she has plot armor
>She gets her ass handed to her on a semi-regular basis
Sallaka remembers everything until Akuma wipes her memory.
>So it ends up being about the power of friendship and love?
Out of all the shit and asspull that was SAO you picked out a scene that actually made sense.
Have you ever played video games?
In 99% of rpgs you can't even come close to killing an enemy of significantly higher level.
In most games your health regen can be higher than the dps of lower level players.
There was nothing wrong with this scene.
SAO is still shit though
Do they ever explain that or is it just implied?
My problem with that is that Madoka supposedly becomes a force in the universe throughout all space and time.
If that's true, I don't see how Homura's power makes a difference.
If you take the successively ridiculous asspulls away from JoJo, all that remains is a bunch of fashion illustrations.
>Bypassing the limits of a machine and coming back to life isn't a common theme in cyberpunk
The mind affecting the virtual world is, the point that they don't die immediately in real life is very important here, because it shows that there is a time window for the mind to surpass the system.
But anon, KyoAni diverged from the source material at the beginning.
Not knowing what we were getting ourselves into, a few of my friends and I watched Soul Eater around the same time. We all got to the end and decided, "Hey, why not watch the last three episodes together?"
We couldn't speak to each other for a few days after that shit...to this day I tell anyone who tries to watch SE to just stop after the midskip at the last ep, good guys win everyone's happy.
Homura seals away Madoka's powers after ascending to godhood. She's even more powerful because her karmic burden is greater.
Yeah, I dont really see the problem with this part in particular.
OP here. This time I'll disagree. Thi shit actually fits the MMORPG setting unlike the power of love bullshit.
Even the first time made sense.
Sensektsu being made of the life fiber has a mind of it's own and remembered seeing Gama's 3 star uniform in action the previous episode.
When the fight was about to begin he mentioned to Ryuko that he wanted to try something (transforming) out. Based on the fact that if 30% lifefibers can do it, he should as well.
Remember when Kirito turned into a giant monster
that was supposed to be an illusion but it killed all those dudes any ways and the explanation for it was "idk lol :)"
>Oh shit I can't refute his point anymore, I gotta say something, otherwise I'll look like an idiot
Is implied, like many things in the series, her wish tied her with Madoka ("I want to redo my meeting with Kaname-san") and wishes are absolute.
Ass Pulls : The Animation
>They establish that he can do anything.
That's fucking lazy writing.
I will literally wager my entire life savings that you're still in high school
I don't consider TTGL to really have asspulls because it established that spiral energy could do anything so long as you believed.
It was never supposed to be taken seriously nor was it trying to be realistic in anyway.
Saying TTGL has asspulls is like criticizing a Mario game for not having a realistic physics engine.
It was never meant to.
No, they establish that since people who are stupidly weaker than Senketsu can transform, Senketsu should be able to as well.
a = power of goku uniforms. b = power required to transform. c = power of a kamui.
a > b, c > a, so c > b
You can't call them ass pulls, when audience knows there's gonna be some massive bullshit happening.
>They established that Senketsu can do the same thing every other life fiber uniform can do
I'm starting to get the assumption that you don't actually watch KLK
Now that I think about it, there are a bunch of things in Madoka I don't really get. I think I'll have to think about some stuff and revisit it another time.
Do you honestly think you made a point worth refuting?
I don't want to keep repeating my points since you obviously don't even bother reading them.
But senketsu can transform into ANYTHING which is piss poor writing.
The anime ending where everyone is alive is actually a hypothermia-induced illusion.
They all died.
Then, why is it only Kirito who bypasses the system with his mind? Why not any one of the thousands of player who also died? Why is it only he who manages to walk out alive? If what you're saying is true, then he can't be the only one whose mind could overcome the system.
Answer: Fucking asspull and amateur writing designed to make our Gary Stu protagonist even more Gary Stu.
Maybe others did too, we don't know.
It's only established he can extrude blades, expand large sections of himself, and transform into an aerodynamic form and blast out energy in one direction. 3 very rudimentary powers.
Just to make the things easier for you, >>101407325 is talking about the movie.
Sword art online isn't cyberpunk bud, can you name one cyberpunk series where someone has died and come back to life through plot armor?
holy shit, how can you possibly be this fucking stupid?
Keep watching, the ending is bad only in comparison with the rest of the show, which is godly.
Oh. I didn't watch any of the movies. I guess I'll understand more when I get there.
Even if those were spoilers, I don't mind too much. By the time I watched the show, I already knew everything that was going to happen. Episode 10 would probably have been one of my favourite episodes in anything if my friends hadn't spoiled the entire show for me.
Actually, following that logic, Kirito would be the LAST person to overcome the system with his mind.
He just saw Asuna die. He gave up. You can tell from how pathetically he was swinging his sword at Heathcliff. He didn't have the drive to finish the damn fight.
So why is the mind of someone who's given up able to overcome the system, instead of the minds of thousands who are scared of death?
Random weapons and such gained in Star Driver and Demonbane(prior to godhood)
Yeah maybe all of them did, hell maybe none of them even died! They probably just sacrificed their physical bodies to live on in the cyber-spirit world and go to cyber-heaven?
Anything is possible if you just BELIEVE.
My computer's GPU doesnt support Crysis at max settings?
I'll just BELIEVE until I can hack the game and one-hit everyone.
There's no damage to control, just retards to correct.
>trying to justify fantasy with logic
Nigga please stop, my sides.
Yugioh is comedy gold.
Literally the only scene which made sense. At least they are actually hitting him and he's not just immune to damage.
that's exactly what you're trying to do though
>Bypassing the limits of a machine and coming back to life isn't a common theme in cyberpunk
I'm sorry, what?
Please don't mock my strong belief that my waifu is real and beside me at all times.
Any Gundam show created. Every teenager piloting a mecha, ever. Code Geass.
His entire character is an asspull.
Matrix was a piss poor excuse for a cyberpunk story. Go away.
Looks like I'll have to use that
Yeah it is actually a common theme and it's awful.
The Matrix's execution of it was 10x better than SAO but it was still dumb.
I'm trying to justify an asspull by pointing out that this entire idea is common in the author's works.
Nah dude, they acutally take 3/4 of every fight doing nothing so they can just stand and explain what the power does and how did they get them.
>THE DICE BROKE IN HALF
>ITS A SEVEN NOW
fucking cheating faggot
if you believe hard enough running it at 11 frames counts as running it
An asspull is still an asspull no matter how common it is in an author's work.
I hate the matrix because Morpheus is just so wrong.
And he's just too black
Pretty much all of Guilty Crown, really
You do realize that Part 3's ending was foreshadowed as fuck? All that time Dio and Jotaro were like "damn our stands are identical except The World can stop time woop da doop"
GER was literally "I'll abandon my original ability of giving life and now I'm able to beat anything because I fucking can"
Can't say I remember the Matrix very well, did Neo ever die?
He died in the end.
Seriously? I thought he just flew up into the sky or some shit
you get to take one anime character in any anime and make them human, who do you pick?
pic related, Shizuku is fucking perfect.
if only he was here.
>The ass pull is that there will never be a season 2.
Please explain to me what the sharingan can do now according to the latest chapter.
that got posted as a reply on this thread, but I didn't even have this thread open... my bad.
Homura is love.
I don't fucking know, I dropped that shit when I realized it's a fucking tapeworm. which would be exactly when Shippuden starts
It's "whom" you dumb cunt.
It can change the past, undo prior events, trap you in some psychic world, literally pull you into another dimension, analyze any ability you do, a bunch of other shit, and can also trap you in an infinite time loop or some shit.
>"Ware ware wa ningen"
>caring about logic in an anime made by gurren lagann niggas
you must be fun at parties.
This is why I fucking loved yugioh as a kid.
It made a card game appear over the top and badass, without ever trying to be believable.
I wouldn't know, I've never been to a party.
How did Kaiba manage to rip open a Blue Eyes card?
>can you name one cyberpunk series where someone has died and come back to life through plot armor?
>tfw you picked up card games because of that
>tfw you were mocked mercilessly by fat greasy neckbears
>tfw you grew to be a fat greasy neckbear mocking new players yourself
it never ends.
SAO is cyberpunk? dear god that term has degraded.
Oh fuck. I specially remember the episode where Yugi was about to beat Seto. So Seto stood ontop of a ledge and yammered about how the particle effects from the destroyed monster would knock him off and kill him.
Has to be the dumbest shit I've ever seen.
Back in the days it was used to copy other's jutsu.
This really makes me concerned about the current state of /a/
you forgot the worst 2:
>literally burn something for eternity
>give you an invincible armor which is too ridiculous to explain all its effects
My teacher stopped me from being a card neckbeard by ripping my cards in half, this included a complete exodia. Felt empty for a few months and moved on to other things.
>tfw you actually drew Exodia
It's like a week.
holy shit this is actually fucking hilarious, is naruto worth picking up just for the laughs?
Nigga shit, I'd complain.
It's too bad for that.
Now kishi can't fucking kill whats his name villain from what i've read.
Could you write out for me the thought process that went through your head in order for you to come to the conclusion that SAO is cyberpunk?
Did your teacher happen to look like this? if so she was getting rid of the competition
She never beat sanegayama again, but I'll give you that cause she probably would have beaten him anyway. She got BTFO by Nui twice, and only tied with Satsuki with senketsu helping her. If Junketsu actually gave a shit and cared about satsuki, she would've blown Ryuuko the fuck out.
or he? what ever gender you teacher was
It's post-cyberpunk at best.
Name one asspull from part 2.
No, it's taken so seriously that it's unbearable.
The worst part to is that literally every character get's so stupidly powerful over the course of 600+ episodes that Kishimoto has to come up with the stupidest bullshit reasons to even attempt to explain away why fights aren't settled in 30 seconds.
Sadly no, she looked like someone that had more than 10 kids.
1995 GiTS. Her head asplode but she didn't died.
You never stated it so he made assumption based on the fact that elementary teachers are mostly females(simple demographic fact).
What's wrong with his logic?
Her ghost survived, thus GHOST IN THE SHELL.
Next you're going to say 'jojokes on you I was only pretending'.
Joseph's flying hand.
>jojofags actually think this
I like jojo but it has an awful fanbase
I thought it was obvious the post was satirical but I guess I was wrong.
It wasn't too gigantic of an asspull if you read the manga, the manga explains it well and in the anime it just kind of happens.
It just got propelled by the eruption, but I'll admit that was pretty bizarre
>on the screen
Nigga, where did you go wrong.
>I was only joking
Never joke with GITS.
When Annie killed Sonnie and Bean, whose respective humans should already be completely merged in their Titans, so she didn't had any other reasons to kill them (not that her faction would have cared about humans discovering that there were hosts inside). Nice bait, nevertheless
Shit, batoto hasn't fucking updated for months now this is fucking spoiler.
>immune to damage
I feel so stupid to laugh at that
I too take my cartoons seriously.
>/a/ serious business
Yes as it should be.
Clannad only did that as a way to put the good ending of AS in there somehow.
I think I'd honestly fight someone over GitS.
I don't know if you would find it hilarious
In my eyes it was cringeworthy
>Character with godly strength appears and fucks up whole village
>Naruto makes him believe it, so he revives everyone
>Character who used godly strength character appear and teams up with other evil character
>other evil character revives everyone (including even more godly character) with some jutsu and controls them
>even more godly character breaks out of jutsu and is alive again
>even more godly character gets even more godly by absorbing some other godly character
what are they going to come up with next?
I hope they do a second season at some point. I enjoyed it and when the threads weren't filled with shitposters who said "If a show doesn't explicitly explain everything by bashing you over the head it didn't happen" the threads were actually really good.
Definitely wasn't perfect, but it had it's high points.
>everyone forgets about how asuna got free from her paralyzed status just to take the hit instead of kirito
you disappoint me /a/
Technically the mc was close to being dead, also technically I barely remeber anything about the show. It is cyberpunk though.
Neo dies and doesn't come back to life and Smith wasn't a human to begin with.
>Base health regen in combat
>Any health regen in combat outside of spells
What kind of shit MMOs are you playing?
Word Arto Onrain
The curse of the Eva
Exactly how i feel
Too bad it has the most dedicating shitposting hatebase I've ever seen.
Shitposting about a show you clearly haven't watched should be an instant ban.
Doesn't Neo die at the end of the first movie?
And then revives and does that bullshit where he stops the bullets?
Who cares about that slut?
Now I legitimately want to watch it, now that I'm older and can understand it
>Bypassing the limits of a machine and coming back to life isn't a common theme in cyberpunk
He didn't, fucktard. He was imagining how he would die before coming back to his senses and using the last seconds of his avatar disappearing to stab Heathcliff.
>neither the anime nor the LN mentions Kirito using one during that scene.
>during that scene
Yes, let's ignore the fact that there are mentions of using healing items actually worked in said situations.
This is why I hate anime only fags. So stubborn, so conclusion-jumping, so quick to made up their mind, only hear what they want to hear, and when someone else said they're wrong, they keep grasping at straws, only want to believe that their conclusion is the only one that's right and the others wrong.
>Hurr durr it's asspull because I say so. I won't take any other answer
I bet you're going to reply with "LOL YOU'RE ACTUALLY DEFENDING SAO, GO BACK TO MAL, FAG" to cover up that you just got told.
Did you not watch the first or second movies?
I run a lvl 100 Snorlax with leftovers.
It knows Charm, Sleep Powder, Harden, and Pound
Not even the top percentage of Ratatta can take him down.
Speaking of cyberpunk, can Robocop (the classsic one, not the shitty remake) be classified as cyberpunk?
And how exactly anime suggests you that it's his imagination? By showing him shatter to pieces and reappear?
So what actually Shun did to master Kaburagi Shisei when the master visited the class in Shinsekai Yori?
How does it feel knowing Arise is shit?
So it drugs and fucks everything?
LOL YOU'RE ACTUALLY DEFENDING SAO, GO BACK TO MAL, FAG
You're actually defending SAO, go back to r/anime fag.
>don't kill me now, give me time to train so you can be satisfied in killing me
>oh hey Caesar thanks for the rag which I'm going to soak in oil
>oh hey Strohiem thanks for the fucking Luftwaffe cargo plane parked right outside
>oh hey again Strohiem, thanks for the rocket-fist so I can crash Cars into a volcano
Is it confirmed that he didn't actually die when he got stabbed and was just imagining it? Because I thought it was pretty obvious he did die, at least in the anime.
I-It'll get better!
>And how exactly anime suggests you that it's his imagination?
You don't know how scene transition works, do you?
>Technologically advanced setting
>Life quality for the average individual is incredibly shitty
I think so
How was the remake? As bad as we're expecting it to be?
>implying you're not a fag
>implying you're not from MAL
A happy, satisfying ass pull... but an ass pull nonetheless...
That scene doesn't appear in the LN. Hell, even in the anime, that scene only shows how Kirito's imagining his death, as the scene uses the same animation in episode 1 when he imagined his death in SAO.
Can't wait until Part 3: Asspull Crusaders
I'm getting the feeling that most people here don't get the concept of an "asspull".
You see, it's not an asspull just because something happened conveniently. If there was an implication before that something of the sort is possible or would happen in the future, then it's simply activating said trait/ability/skill. If you have literally nothing to say or show that there's anything of the sort possible either within the universe or simply "happens" just to fit the plot, then it's an asspull.
A particular example in this thread would be SAO. The guy saying that his HP Regen being higher than the DPS of those attacking him. That's not an asspull, that's just out-statting your attackers. In any game that has universal HP regen even in combat, this is easily possible, and makes sense.
However, the shit with the Dual-Wielding? That's an asspull. Nothing before that moment implied he had the ability, showed where it came from, implied that such an ability could exist, or even showed that he was practicing with the ability, yet out of nowhere the fucker uses it, with perfect proficiency, against a specific boss, just so he could outmatch it and win.
>Murphy is not shot to pieces
>feels like someone putting on full body armor with a voice synthesizer
meh, I'm glad I got a free screening.
They should have left revival magic shit for the VNs. Though I will say that the asspull in Clannad was less egregious than in some of Maeda's other stuff, especially the Angel Beats ending.
But you have to admit JoJo asspulls are hilarious.
Inb4, him buying a new sword as the foreshadowing.
Yes. If it's set in the future and life is subjectively worse than it is now then it's cyberpunk. If the technology is actually improving the quality of life and people aren't being oppressed then tit's just regular sci-fi.
>Puppet Master was the inspiring force behind NSA's PRISM program.
Also, this is now a cyber-punk thread.
What kind of a retarded definition is this.
It is, though.
The new sword clearly is worse than the one he has, so there was no reason to buy it, other than using it as his second sword.
Part 3 arguably has less asspulls (until the fight against DIO) because almost nothing the heroes do is outside the scale of their powers. Hell, most of the time Jotaro & co. legitimately outsmart their opponents.
Playing devils advocate here cause jesus does part 2 has asspulls, but those are mainly just Joseph being Joseph and Stroheim being a robonazi. Not really asspulls at all.
In fact I think the fact that Stroheim comes back is a bigger asspull than all of that. I mean he survived a grenade exploding while he was hugging it,
So SAO actually is cyberpunk?
I read it exclusively for them.
I mean the only more satisfying manga/anime having explicitly to do with asspulls is probably YuGiOh.
He's actually fairly close to the wikipedia definition
>Cyberpunk is a postmodern science fiction genre noted for its focus on "high tech and low life."
How is this an asspull? He gave jojo the bandana, so it's not like it just spawned in the middle of the fight.
How do you think all the germans got there?
Last one doesn't sound too much like an asspull. It's just bizarre
According to the wikipedia definition of cyber punk
SAO is NOT cyberpunk, as their world is far from a dystopia
No. This is way too generalized.
Cyber-punk deals with the assimilation of cybernetics into society as a whole.
If Kirito didn't die, then what's this scene with his body coming back together supposed to represent?
Hardly, because in cyberpunk settings only poor people are oppressed and suffer the "low life".
Richer people, with the wealth "needed" depending on the setting, usually reap the full benefits of advanced technology and live better lives than past generations.
You're wrong on both accounts according to wikipedia.
And I'll take their definition for cyberpunk over a weeaboo's anyday
Except both were from the definitions on wiki, Einstein.
>Not moving onto Mangastream or being in the /a/ translation threads
What the fuck are you doing?
Wikipedia actually has a list of anime it refers to as "cyberpunk".
Notice the lack of SAO
It's his imagination, it is clearer in the LN what is going on.
Kirito only died in the game and he managed to overcome the game itself, it's exactly the same as the Incarnate System bullshit in Accel World.
>using weeaboo as a pejorative term
>while posting on an anime board
I don't think it was revival magic though. It was just the story switching from the original universe to an alternate one.
>on the screen
Shit nigga, It's like the third time I'm posting this.
What are you doing in an anime thread?
SAOfags believe themselves to be above weeaboos.
>He didn't, fucktard. He was imagining how he would die before coming back to his senses and using the last seconds of his avatar disappearing to stab Heathcliff.
And do you still not understand why that's bullshit or should I spell that out for you too? I'll spell it out for you anyways, when your character dies in a video game, you don't use the dying animation to get one last hit on a final boss.
>Yes, let's ignore the fact that there are mentions of using healing items actually worked in said situations.
Oh wow, yeah sorry, I didn't realize that Kirito had a sick array of potions on hand at all times including, but not limited to, the draught of always surviving with one health, elixir of bypassing admin status and potion of blue balls alleviation. Not to mention he's able to secretly activate them at anytime without even interacting with the menu.
This is why I hate SAOfags, because they are genuinely retarded and should graduate from edgeville high before trying to sound like they understand what they are talking about.
I'm not even going to tell you to go to MAL, because their top 30 list is probably still better than whatever shit you enjoy watching.
I don't think so. Nagisa and the kid getting revived is Tomoya's reward for collecting all the orbs, if it was in a different universe then Tomoya would still be suffering in the original universe.
>potion of blue balls alleviation
>Kirito only died in the game and he managed to overcome the game itself,
He didn't die in game.
Even if he did die in game, his brain wouldn't instantly be fried, but that is pretty irrelevant.
It was supposed to be him metaphorically getting over his OH WOE IS ME moment after asuna dies, and deciding to say fuck you to the game and end it.
Also, we saw that characters were still able to move even after their HP hit zero, which is what he did.
Everything he did was well within previously established game rules.
>it's exactly the same as the Incarnate System bullshit in Accel World.
The incarnate system cannot possibly be implemented with SAO, it is a side effect of the alicization system.
"You are dead" is displayed after your HP hits zero.
But as with asuna and kuradeel beforehand, your character does not disintegrate until a few seconds later.
Stop being fucking retarde and learn how to follow the plot.
>when your character dies in a video game, you don't use the dying animation to get one last hit on a final boss.
Video games are not VRMMO games.
Nor is there any reason that makers of modern games cannot allow for such actions.
And the rest of your post is just pure shitposting, not even addressing it.
People are still getting this mad over SAO?
I'm not the guy you're arguing with, nor am I a big SOA fanboy. But in the show's defence, there are a lot of anime that have this mind-over-technology theme to them. If you watch any mecha anime especially. How many times have characters gotten their robots to work by sheer willpower?
I like to see it as a testament to just how bad it was.
>The incarnate system cannot possibly be implemented with SAO, it is a side effect of the alicization system.
Not the same thing, mind you, the same storytelling concept.
Overcoming the machine with willpower.
LNfags have to defend their fair maiden to the last breath.
The show was god awful, this is undeniable.
>"You are dead" is displayed after your HP hits zero.
But as with asuna and kuradeel beforehand, your character does not disintegrate until a few seconds later.
Wait, how is that fucking related to you summoning LN explanation in the anime only thread.
Can we just agree that regardless of what the SAO LN had, that scene in the anime adaptation was an asspull?
>not knowing about the glop
>Kyoukai no Kanata
You mean testament to just how rabid and idiotic the hatebase is.
You faggots are using the same invalid arguments as you were using when the show was airing.
You could maybe apply that to asuna breaking her paralysis (Which is so far the only unexplained event in the novels), but there is no reason to apply it to kirito when he was entirely without the bounds of known rules.
Because you see asuna not dying after her HP hits zero for quite a long time.
This isn't LN only plot.
Only if you can't follow simple game mechanics
Oh, that's what you mean.
>You mean testament to just how rabid and idiotic the hatebase is.
Well yeah, that too. The fanbase and hatebase are equally retarded.
>You faggots are using the same invalid arguments as you were using when the show was airing.
I aint arguin shit here hoss, I'm just enjoying the ride.
You just gave the exact same detention you tool.
The end to One Outs was a complete asspull, apparently MC's such a genius that he can see things happening behind him.
Nigga, f-fuck! This bait was untouched for 3 damn hours and already went dry. Do you like hardtacks this much?
>Video games are not VRMMO games.
Are you trying to sound retarded here? Also, I'm glad you've played enough VRMMO games to tell me exactly what is and isn't allowed in them.
>And the rest of your post is just pure shitposting, not even addressing it.
Even the fact that he killed Heathcliff despite his immortal status? I hope you realize how accurately you described yourself with this statement.
>So stubborn, so conclusion-jumping, so quick to made up their mind, only hear what they want to hear, and when someone else said they're wrong, they keep grasping at straws, only want to believe that their conclusion is the only one that's right and the others wrong.
He's baseball Akagi, why does that surprise you?
>ITT: Two retards bitch about one scene from a half-decent anime that may or may not have been an asspull
Can we just move on to another giant asspull?
How about entirety of Dragon Ball
>anyone who dislikes my show is just a hater
Over a year later, SAOfags are still the most easily assblasted fans on the internet.
>Even the fact that he killed Heathcliff despite his immortal status?
That's where A1 fucks up. In the original he set it off.
Yes and I will continue to hate it. It's the only way to brainwash newfags into hating it so we can correct their tastes.
We have a term for that, it's called an asspull. Which is what this thread is about.
>despite his immortal status
He turned it off for the fight, Kayaba is too fair for his own good.
A1 finds a way.
That was just funny, though.
Dis nigga. Every fight.
True, but at least in Fukomoto works its always pointed out that there's a lot of luck involved. It was bullshit that Tokuchi was such a genius that he could control just about every action of his opponents, especially in luck-dependent baseball.
So it suddenly becomes plausible that he got one shot?
It's only one the first time it happens, after that it's established that mind over technology is a thing in-universe.
What the hell are yout alking about?
Why would this even be a term in the game's database?
>Also, I'm glad you've played enough VRMMO games to tell me exactly what is and isn't allowed in them.
The point is that YOU are the one doing this.
It is easily imaginable that the creator of a VRMMO game realizes it is no fun for HP to hit zero and suddenly your character falls to the ground as a giant lump. Preventing the use of skills at this point makes sense, but it is entirely reasonable for them to possibly allow basic movements (Even if they become harder to carry out) afterwards.
>Even the fact that he killed Heathcliff despite his immortal status? I
Yeah, you are shitposting.
Stop taking ENGRISH literally you mouth breathing fucktard.
There is a difference between disliking a show and constantly parroting the same old, stale, and invalid arguments about a show just because you irrationally feel hatred for a piece of entertainment that wasn't even that bad.
There are numerous shows every season that I think are completely shit, that doesn't mean I act like an emotionally charged child and continuously proclaim to a board of people who couldn't give a shit about my opinion about how much I hate it.
Which is a HUGE contrast to how hatebases on /a/ act.
Akagi was just as bad as Tokuchi when he wasn't playing mahjong.
TTGL is basically power of friendship: the anime, so it's as though it's begging you to take it seriously.
I realize you can't merge galaxies into pure power, but how is that not sweet to look at?
Maybe not the exact words "Immortal object", but invincibility spells and statuses are pretty much in every online game out there.
>mfw the only reason why he was discovered was because he forgot to hide his admin status.
>revealing the big bad (whom was painfully foreshadowed) in the most lackluster way possible
Who? shirou or the king of kings? both lose (appendages) in some way in different arcs.
You seem to forget that you only get to see the one world where everything works out for Shirou.
In the majority of parallel universes he just dies.
I don't think he "forgot", he intentionally did it because he wanted to be known as a player who never gets to low HP, no matter how tough the enemy.
And him getting caught was more due to the way he acted, not the god mode. Kirito realized he was more like a person watching a bunch of people play the game, not a player himself. Among other similarities with kayaba (Who was basically kiritos idol).
Thanks for this post, made me laugh.
Does Akagi do other gambling besides mahjong? I didn't read the manga.
Nigga what's wrong with you?
Wow damn, that actually makes a lot of sense, especially given the fact that no one else in SAO has the ability to do that. I guess that's just another great example of how epic Kirito is right?
>Stop taking ENGRISH literally you mouth breathing fucktard.
Not sure I'm following you here.
That was a typo. They fixed it in the BD version.
Nuclear strikes > Guns
Guildford wasn't seen getting blasted away, only part of the legs of his mech.
>A parallel universe exists where Shirou dies in a hilarious fashion
He beats some thugs up, the Russian roulette thing, that one Mahjong related gamble where he gets his coworkers paycheck back and that thing with the cars at the start.
>especially given the fact that no one else in SAO has the ability to do that.
We see at least two characters moving after their HP hits zero.
>Not sure I'm following you here.
He was removing his immortality.
is this your second anime? That is the only way to explain how you are unfamiliar with engrish.
What next, are you going to bitch about the countless anime with random engrish on a screen that is supposed to be super secret battle plans, but is actually a wikipedia article on cupcakes being a plot hole?
The difference is those shows don't have die hard fans such as yourself who will continuously argue about the show. If fewer SAO fans took the criticism personally it would have stopped seasons ago.
The "changed to immortal object" message was a typo. It was fixed in the BD version.
But that would force the mods to watch a lot of shit, meaning we'd have black outs in moderation due to mods watching stuff. And it would also mean shitposting about Naruto would be b&.
So I guess Kirito's living with 1 hp is an established thing in SAO? Also don't compare SAO, which actually takes itself seriously, to mecha shows that's mainly based on friendship and shit.
From a storytelling standpoint it is just as pitiful.
Afaik, FLEIJA has a pinpoint radius(look at how post-warhead buildings are "cut" in half) without secondary shockwave. So if he wasn't in the radius of implosion(he wasn't even seen to be there) there was nothing to rescue him from.
Except that the concept is not new to the authors works.
It's ridiculously common in Accel World.
They cut the scene.
>The difference is those shows don't have die hard fans such as yourself who will continuously argue about the show
If you went into those threads spouting factually incorrect shit, you would see those people.
Hardly anyone goes into those threads just to talk shit about it, and when they do they are normally just voicing a shitty opinion.
Unlike here, were they are voicing a shitty opinion and trying to back it up by showing that they have zero understanding of plot mechanics.
This isn't even an apples and oranges comparison, it is just a completely different spectrum.
Even worse than the power of friendship
>Hardly anyone goes into those threads just to talk shit about it
You clearly don't know /a/. Fans of shit shows just accept that it is shit and everyone moves on. When hardcore fans resist and try to argue ever single poster in the thread it leads to it happening again and again.
Surprised nobody has mentioned the entire first tournament arc in Yu Yu Hakusho. The one to decide who the old lady gets to teach.
All of fucking Yusuke and Kuwabara's matches.
>We see at least two characters moving after their HP hits zero.
Yeah still one shotting bosses right?
>He was removing his immortality.
Sorry I don't care enough about shit shows to actually want to know what the actual translation means when it doesn't make any difference in the quality of the show.
>What next, are you going to bitch about the countless anime with random engrish on a screen that is supposed to be super secret battle plans, but is actually a wikipedia article on cupcakes being a plot hole?
Look man, I know you're butthurt as fuck about getting your ass handed to you after you supposedly "told" me. But can you stop fucking blabbering and wasting both of our time? I don't know what the hell that was supposed to be but it wasn't an insult.
His ability was always to reflect shit back on the attacker dip shit. Read like if not the first chapter the first volume then come back and apologize
Why the fuck hasn't this been posted yet
Buildings have it.
>Yeah still one shotting bosses right?
Heathcliff was not a boss during the fight, but a normal player.
A sword in the chest of a human has this habit of killing them.
Seems the game reflects that.
>But can you stop fucking blabbering and wasting both of our time?
so because they made one series that thematically focuses on powering over logic, its okay that they do it in another, completely unrelated series?
good to know.
Why are you still here? Do you not understand what an asspull is or something?
>A sword in the chest of a human has this habit of killing them.
>Kirito stands in a rain of scrubs.gif
>A sword in the chest of a human has this habit of killing them.
Ok faggot, how many MMORPGs have you ever played.
would've made more sense if he stopped the hammer with a wad of folded money.
>and more badass
He explained it, somewhat. He said he put the TV in and resealed the bag outside of the house. I do wonder when he brought the bag in the house and how come L didn't notice him bringing in chips or something and suspecting it.
The problem is that he never used it
Which is too bad, because it was a much cooler ability than turning shit into animals
And even then, all of his friends had even cooler abilities than him
Giorno is the worst Jojo
Wrong reply. as to >>101414762
>A sword in the chest of a human has this habit of killing them.
Have you ever actually played a video game? You don't kill someone just by hitting them with a sword or else Kirito would've died 50 times over. He may be a normal player but the rules of the game still apply dipshit.
I wouldn't call it an ass pull, it was the perfect wish for what she wanted to accomplish
don't bother dude, some people will just blatantly tunnel vision their hate for something they just hate.
>it doesn't make sense to me thus I hate it
>someone explains it
>b-b-but muh hatred
>The problem is that he never used it
Araki just realized how OP it was and prevented it never existed in the first place. Kind of like how he had to send Fugo off to nowhere.
>A sword in the chest of a human has the habit of killing them
So explain this
You can't use real-world logic in this instance
goddamn was she adorable thought
Kirito's black sword does like a billion damage?
If it was able to one hit the final boss, why wouldn't he be able to one hit any other bosses?
pretty sure that guy was joking
I'm a retard
Because Heathcliff is just a normal player there.
He'd not turn on boss mode until they reach the last floor's boss room.
Also Kayaba has this little issue that he's way too fair.
>I should be fair
>Since I'm a tank, I should set my armour/defend ridiculously high and HP to 100 despite everyone else in the room having 10,000s
holy shit, you think SAO and Accel World are cyber punk?
I'm completely baffled there are people out there as dumb as you trying so desperately hard to sound smart on the internet.
>holy shit, you think SAO and Accel World are cyber punk?
Where's the implication of that.
I'm drawing a comparison here.
It's more like
>I should be fair
>Let's make it so that shitter kills me in a single hit, he's never gonna get it in anyway, unless he cheats my absolutely flawless system
>Implying SAO is fantasy when it is actually scifi
There's too much bullshit in it to be.
>implying scifi and fantasy are different genres
They are, because sci-fi is possible in some way.
"My HP bar vanished completely as if mocking my anger. A purple message appeared within my vision: [You are dead.] It was the command from the god to die." --Sword Art Online, Volume 1
I couldn't believe the idiocy that SAOfags are spitting out, so I had to reread the LN to see for myself, and nowhere does it say that it was all part of his imagination.
Not to mention that neither the LN nor anime portrays the theme of "the mind overcoming the machine," or anything like that. Having random moments where characters just say "SCREW DA RULEZ" and override the rules, like when Asuna somehow managed to make her paralysis go away to save Kirito, aren't examples of a present theme. It's simply bad writing.
The possibility was always present though. Both in the movie's themes and it's writing, it was foreshadowed that Neo could pretty much do anything.
SAO has no themes and it was never foreshadowed in the writing that anybody could do that. Not even the fucking admin to the game could escape the death penalty. It's just shit writing.
This guy's right
If they had used it. As long as he never told anyone else his power he would be one of the strongest stand users without even powering up GE. Hell as long as KC wasn't pulling a aerosmith and fought Gio like he did Stickyfingers he could have taken KC in one hit.
What anime is this?
>Death note in general
I don't quite remember the scene but it was somewhat like this:
>L makes some decision, which gets him closer to Kira, but is ridicolous, no one would've jumped to these conclusions
>one officer asks him why he thinks so
>Light's father tells him not to question his decisions
>L "No, it's okay, I'll explain it later"
He never explained that shit
I don't know this anime, which is it? Someone tell me, please.
The whole "MC does something miraculous and impossible because of pure willpower" asspull is a staple of shonen shows, don't know why people are specifically being so butthurt about SAO.
No, go fuck yourself.
I didn't watch Death Note so I wouldn't know
But couldn't L just write his "problems" away?
Death Note in general had a lot of asspulls. There was no way Light, L, and that season 2 guy could've figured out the stuff they did, we're just told they somehow deduced it because they're geniuses. Code Geass does the same thing with Lelouch.
I don't know about the other anons mentioning the imagination sequence, but I'm referring to the "avatar exploding and reforming" bit.
Because people realize asspull shounen series are bad, or atleast not great, hence shounenshit. Yet there's a lot of retards thinking SAO is the greatest thing ever, and literally make up bullshit to cover up the asspulls
Because it took place in a video game.
But the author likes that thing about willpower being stronger than technology a lot.
>File: 1391379926371.png-(205 KB, 1366x768, SAO.png
So there it is in the original text. You dont die right away when your HP reaches zero
to be fair, that's only because they made a fake hime that year, which is what counted to the final sacrifice count thing- everything that festival was fucked over from the start
Where does it say that he has a boss mode? Oh right, it doesn't.
>Completely overpowers Aizen and thwarts his strongest attacks
>Uses attack that surrenders all of his shinigami powes anyway
It's pretty fucking likely considering he says himself that he's the final boss.
I doubt that he's been playing the game with the stats he'd have as the final boss the entire time.
It was foreshadowed a few times that the constraints of the system were not as concrete as they were claimed to be.
Kayaba, even though he was an admin, moved faster than normal.
When Asuna had to save the paralyzed Kirito, she caught up to them faster than she should have been able to.
Are you guys still going to be arguing about this when S2 hits?
>Kayaba, even though he was an admin, moved faster than normal.
He cheated there.
Nah, it's gonna be bullet cutting and predicting the prediction line then.
>Kayaba, even though he was an admin, moved faster than normal.
No, that was part of the system. He used system assist to move faster than a regular player could.
Yes I actually am implying that.
SAO s2 discussions will hopefully be better, the show should be much less popular than the first season.
I like how these two posts are back-to-back and say completely different things. Btw, he cheated, not system assist. That's why he was so pissed off.
>SAO s2 discussions will hopefully be better
Oh child. You have so much faith.
He cheated using admin only system assist
The cheating was done with system assist though.
What if Kayaba activated No-clip for the final battle?
So what you're saying is that he cheated. Okay, gotcha.
What if Kayaba typed "power overwhelming" into his admin console for the final battle?
This series would have been really good if there was more ecchi.
What if he typed whosyourdaddy?
Nobody saying stardriver
"I have an ultra powered galactic sword"
"NOW WE, THE EVIL PEOPLE HAVE A GALACTIC SWORD"
"Yeah? Well guess what, i have TWO galactic swords!"
Star Platinum timestop.
3 people have said Star Driver
sorry it got so muddled in SAO that i started scrolling faster
>Death Note in general had a lot of asspulls. There was no way Light, L, and that season 2 guy could've figured out the stuff they did, we're just told they somehow deduced it because they're geniuses. Code Geass does the same thing with Lelouch.
DN had the problem of taking place on a realistic world, so I felt the over-the-top stuff clashed more with the tone, including the asspulls. CG was less jarring since it's a cartoony-as-heck setting, with very few cues dating back to actual reality.
