What was the last manga serie you marathoned, /a/? I just read through in one sitting "the whole of ""Mobile Suit Gundam - The Gihren Assassination Plot", which is essentially Operation Valkyrie to assassinate Adolf Hitler but put in the Gundam universe.

Damn good shit.

>marathoning manga
I'd do this more often if more series had completed scanlation. 0094 is something I'd like to see more of myself.

Speaking of the Ghiren Assassination Plot - imagine if Sunrise decided to adapt that as a few short OVAs before doing Origin?

Agreed. It's very hard to switch from a binge reading to waiting weeks (or even) months for new chapter to come out.

Also, pretty sure the last time Sunrise did a show with vaguely political backdrops was Code Geass, and we all know how well that went...

I gave the Origin manga a try recently. Why is there ain incentive to adapt it anyway? It looks like a 1:1 adaption of the original Gundam anime.

Because even if it was just the same story with newer animation it would still bring in a load of new fans to UC, while existing fans would be happy to see old Zeon and Char again.

There's a lot they can do with fixed pacing and fixed storytelling elements (one of the reasons Origin was drawn was to fix some very dated aspects in the original series, particularly the characters), plus I imagine Sunrise will change a load of stuff around like they've usually done for Gundam adaptations.

That's just the Geass writers though

To be fair, CG was more theatrical than political, which worked for the material, but then again I never expected otherwise. It's a world with kings and princes ruling whole nations in the near-future. That's not remotely viable.

Speaking of writers, Tomino's politics are pretty bad too. Gundam's tries to be more plausibly political most of the time, but things feel out of whack.

The Gihren Assassination Plot was better than most Gundam, but I felt the whole twist at the end kind of took away from it.
