Any Hayate fans remaining here? The fanbase seems to have tanked lately. Tanked as bad as CTMEOY and Cuties' sales.
I still like but stopped reading like a year ago because quite honestly it got boring.
Want to read it again but I forgot where I stopped nor I have the motivation to find where. I'll probably do it when it's done.
That Ruka arc finally ended. Hopefully the story will pick up again.
There are like 50 episodes. Is it any good?
I just stopped. It's gotten kind of dull.
Anime worth watching?
Seasons 1 and 2 are good. CTMEOY and Cuties... Just read the manga.
Anything with TsundeRie and/or KOTOKO/Kawada Mami music is worth watching
I stopped reading during the doujin arc. Highlight was Athena and Maria going to Kyoto in a private charter jet. Didn't read much after that.
>Just read the manga.
Nah, I can't force myself to read mango. I'll go with the 3 episode rule I guess. Thanks.
What's this show about even?
All I know is TsunRie voices the girl.
It's about some guy who kidnaps the rich Rie Tsundere for ransom because he has yakuza debts. The girl, Nagi, mistakes one of the guy (Hayate)'s statements, for a love confession, and he is soon hired as Nagi's butler. The rest of the series is about the happenings in their lives, such as Hayate's harem, which includes the student council president Hinagiku best girl, and his childhood love Athena. Recently it focused Nagi's rivalry with an idol named Ruka.
So it started out great and turned to shit?
It was great again for a while.
I might give it a try some time, S1 being 50 episodes though doesn't really make me want to watch it.
Izumi is the best Hayate.
Lewdest one for sure.
I need to catch up with the manga again. Last time I read was when Hayate was hugging Ruka at night and saying he would make her happy.
The doujin arc was just dull. I hope it gets better again after that.
Why is it she that Hata delivers the pantyshots?
S1 = Legendary Comedy and feels
After that it went downhill. They tried to fix something that wasn't broken by turning it into a shitty harem with nothing but fillers and recycled gags.
It was already a harem in S1 though.
Also S2 was better.
S1 story revolved around Nagi and him paying off his debt and running from Mafia. Only Hinagiku was the main contender.
Then they go all move all the harem girls into one area and suddenly everyone wants his dick for no reason.
Did Maria win dah ayate yet?
No one is going to win. It always ends with an open ending which is becoming a habit in Japan. Lazy fucks don't have the balls to seal the deal and make someone win already. Same shit happened with School Rumble.
If the author is still making Maria's arc the series finale, then she's already won.
>S2 is better
S2 was such a dry adaption, I vastly prefer season 1.
How long are season 1 and season 2?
S1 was 52 episodes
S2 was 26 episodes long
S1 has a lot of anime-original content, while S2 is more faithful to the manga (it even retcons some of the events of S1). Then again, I heard that S1 is better.
And there are 2 more seasons after that?
There are two seasons after that: Can't Take My Eyes Off You and Cuties.
CTMEOY is bad and isn't an adaptation of the manga, it's just original content. You can just skip the whole season.
Cuties adapts some random chapters of the manga, one episode for each girl. It's a little better than CTMEOY, but not as good as S1 or S2.
I would never abandon my waifu, I'll be here to the bitter end.
They are supposed to be after the current summer but they said nothing about recent developments like the King's Jewels return and "Dark Nagi"
Technically if you love your waifu, you won't want her to win so she can be defiled by a betamax MC.
I don't get these waifu wars, they are not action figures that need to win, you get one because you love her.
Also, both bombed. Is the Hayate fanbase dead now?
Does the Tsun win the MC?
seems to be recovering after doujin namek ended
It's like we don't read the same manga.
You want your waifu to win so she can be happy. Or you want another best girl losing crying like Kuroneko?
Some people just want to see their waifus happy.
I know she won't win, the most likely scenario is status quo end for Hayate and possibly lesbian end for Hina and Hamster.
I really need to watch S2 of that shit show, just for her.
I wasn't referring to Hayate, he is an exception.
I just want Synergy to do another season. I've started watching Zettai Karen Children hoping to get that feel back but I don't think it'll be the same.
Fuck, I want all these cards
>Hina x Hamster
Not bad but there is literally nothing between them. Even Yuri goggles don't work.
If you want to watch it for Ruri, I recommend you stopping at the episode 8. Watching further will only be suffering.
Best end would be Hayate x Maria and they adopt Nagi as their daughter. Hinagiku can become Hayate's concubine. Hamster can go back to being a normalfag.
I watched the first and second season a very long time ago. I enjoyed it.
Tried to watch Cuties since I enjoyed the past 2 seasons. I couldn't get past the first episode, the blond haired girl (forgot name) annoyed me WAY too much.
>I couldn't get past the first episode, the blond haired girl (forgot name) annoyed me WAY too much.
Athena? but she's best girl. Why did she get small again?
Looks like the camerman was late, the damage is done
I dropped the manga 2 years ago because Doujin Namek became unbearable.
However, the current arc seems to be interesting enough. Hopefully, Hata will keep the story focused on the plot and not go into tangential endless SoL stories again (which are no longer funny, and hardly ever related to the main topic of the arc).
That being said, the funny part about this new arc is that the story is still taking place before CTMEOY since Nagi is yet to return to the mansion. So, once again, despite whatever happens, we can already assume nothing big enough to end the status quo will happen.
I'm just hoping for some decent plot involving Athena (which, I guess, might fully wrap-up fully her role in the story, since she didn't show up in CTMEOY).
One thing I expect is that, after the Doujin Namek fiasco (manga sales went from 300k+ by the end of the Greece arc, to hardly even 100k by the end of the Doujinshi arc), Hata's editors will be applying some pressure, and prevent him from shitting the manga again.
So, I should expect no kissu in the first two seasons? seems like watching more would be wasting my time
If you want that, read the manga.
Nah... HnG doesn't move romance forward in any way. The best you'll get is some girls realising they love Hayate, and some others deciding to become more proactive.
Hayate has received a few kissed though. He received 2 kisses in the cheek, 1 by Nagi who did it without thinking, and another by Ayumu who did it purposefully and clearly showing she liked him (she's the only girl - other than his ex-girlfriend - who has confessed her love to him, and she's told him she loves him a few times already).
Then he received some kisses in his lips... but he was 6 years old at the time. One of them was by Isumi - who kissed him because he protected her from a rabid dog, and then he kissed several times with Athena (his ex-girlfriend). He and Athena also kissed when they formally broke up when they were 16/17.
Didn't he kiss Athena like 560 times?
Yeah, he did mention he had kissed a fuckton of times in the past, and the only one he could have kissed was A-tan.
>show where TsunRie doesn't win the MC
What is this show
>One of them was by Isumi
Izumi, not Isumi.
Isumi is Nagi's friend and Izumi is the member of the baka trio.
Now the "we did it a whole bunch yesterday" makes sense.
I forgot how much of best girl Athena is.
I've dropped the manga after they forgot about Athena. I know she got turned into a loli, but Hayate x A-tan was the OTP for several chapters. It was mutual love as well. Author knew he wanted to please all the fanbase, this killed the story for me.
We don't know if Nagi won't win.
Sure, thus far in almost the entire manga up until now, they have had some type of Father and Daughter type of relationship, or even that of siblings.
However, it remains for a fact that Hayate is only 2 years older than Nagi, and Nagi has time to grow up (physically and mentally), and if Yukariko is any indication, Nagi might become quite pretty when she grows up. So, Hata could always pull a Nagi end out of his ass by the end of the story. Let us not forget Nagi's initial misunderstanding is yet to be cleared up.
However, considering Hata said he based Hayate on himself, Maria on his wife and Nagi on his daughter, perhaps we'll see some Maria development in the future (even if she's been reduced to a gag character for the longest time), and we'll get some type of family end with Hayate ending with Maria, and them living together with Nagi.
Yeah, you're right. Sorry, I always mix up their names.
I tend to forget who's the one with the Z.
It was good up until the end of the athena arc
then around the time it nagi moved out of the mansion I think it went into the shitter
the story was allover the place, no direction at all, bad new characters, the 2 anime that came out were pure shit, and the movie was garbage
it was a big spit in the face for a hayate fan like me
fuck you hata, fix your shit already
>the 2 anime that came out were pure shit
I think you mean the 3rd anime.
Seasons 1 and 2 were great.
There are other 2 seasons: CTMEOY and Cuties
And those are shit
I know this feel
He completed A-Tan arc, then proceeded NOT to make an anime of it. WTF was he thinking? Was it he couldn't get a good studio to animate it? Was it to save fan backlash? I don't understand why he wouldn't want CORE plot arcs of his manga animated.
Also, the movie.
You know you fucked up when you use 3 different character designs for each of them.
Jesus christ that Hina on CTMEOY gave me cancer.
It's a good thing S1 and S2 have good rewatch value making me care little for CTMOY and Cuties.
>another by Ayumu
What? Ayumu kissed Hayate? When was that again?
A cheek kiss.
How did the movie do at the box office?
Poor hamster. She deserves the Hayateb owl, but she has no chance.
No idea but the BD sold bad. Around 5k.
5k isn't terrible. It's not good, but it's not bad either. Movie was shit anyway.
HIAPOE was lucky to sell 5k. CTMEOY was lucky to sell 1k per volume.
It would be really good for a TV series but It's bad for a movie.
Cuties? Now that was terribad.

Oh look, the best selling BD had Athena in it. If only they had some kind of story were she was the main focus that Manglobe could have animated...
God I'm so mad.
I don't think there's a single anime that passed through 3 different studios.
Synergy SP = Glorious.
J.C Staff = Solid, a few great episodes.
Manglobe = Why
Initial D pretty much had a new studio with every season. Ironically, it's now animated by SynergySP, aka Hayate's original studio. Why did they keep changing studios in the first place?
>Synergy SP = Glorious
I think there's some nostalgia goggles here.
Hayate S1 was great, but plenty of people dropped it midway because it was starting to drag (remember it was 50 something episodes).
There were also plenty of complaints on how it went into original story territory and how Nagi centric it was, compared to the manga.
Personally, I think S2 was a lot better. It wasn't as funny as the first part of S1, but it worked better overall.
A lot of S1 was anime original.
But a lot of it was also funny, funny filler, that's a rare sight.
I should get around to the second season at some point
I've been sticking with the show since it aired in '07. I plan to stick with the anime till the bitter end.
Every time I see a Hayate thread on 2chan, the posts are always "Are we still in the doujin arc?"
Hayate's doujin namek is really a prime example of where an editor should really stop being lenient and get the author to end this shit.
I still love it and I still buy the manga, gotta support Hata.
Is it wrong that I don't want to get into a series that has so many shit adaptations and where the manga is doing like shit as well?
I'm still reading it regularly and am enjoying it.
