So among last year's anime, which ones that flopped did you like, and why do you think they flopped?
Coppelion flopped because Go Hands did it and it looked awful.
I thought the story and characters were perfectly fine.
The seiyuu weren't good, and the first 3 episodes sucked.
At some point the story direction managed to piss off the japs as well. Also such anime don't sell particularly well to begin with.
Coppelion flopped because the characters are fucking cute schoolgirls in a serious apocalyptic setting. How the fuck does that make any fucking sense?!
>serious apocalyptic setting
Weren't the main seiyuu (except Kido) all rookies anyway, as in absolutely no prior roles, not even bit roles? And have any of them gotten any other roles?
Doesn't ANN praise that show to the heavens though? Then again, they also love WataMote and AnH, and see what happened to them. They're also liking Space Dandy ATM.
Kyousougiga was a flop?
>I thought the story and characters were perfectly fine.
Hah. Haha. Hahahaha, oh wait, you're actually seirous?
I think so. Still, I remember that people were criticising their debut roles, and I imagine it must be worse for the Japanese, who are definitely more familiar with the spoken language. I think Kido has a role in Pupa, but not the rest.
Doesn't matter if all of ANN liked it, the show flopped. Plenty of anons here were also disappointed, especially those who watched the ONAs.
1075 preorders, I think. Or were those sales?
>1075 preorders, I think. Or were those sales?
Pre-order sales. Apparently it sold 1,122 copies, which is higher than the estimates, but is still a huge bomb.
I meant: have any of the rookies done anything (not necessarily voice acting) since then?
>Doesn't matter if all of ANN liked it
Are there several cases of shows that ANN loves but pretty much everyone else hates or is at most indifferent to?
Coppelion wasn't bad, wasn't great but I enjoyed it almost as much as other kinda meh shows like watamote or snk.
Better than gay shit like sao by a long shot
>I thought the story and characters were perfectly fine.
...just turn on the comments on your MAL, you fucking pussy
I thought you tried to imply that ANN had something to do with the sales figures. I'm sorry, I don't know much about ANN. Nor do I know much about the KKK seiyuu. It would be nice if they got a role in Koutarou Ishidate's next project though.
Does anyone have any idea why Leviathan and Gen'ei tanked hard? Or why NouCome and Golden Time flopped?
Sales are down across the board.
You've been tricked, but you can blame the direction to come clean only a few episodes in and not right from the start.
The show was doomed because of Fukushima. Japs like stuff like IS2 or Machine Doll, were the Jap male has a harem of international girls that adore him. Not being reminded of being a bother to the world due to the inability to deal with radiation issues.
Coppelion and Samurai Flamenco.
At least that are those who really deserve the title "flop". I think Yuushibu didn't do that well, either, but at least sold in the four digits.
What about pic related?
did it sell well? I hope it flopped
Fuck, I was just going to post Stella. I loved that shit.
Nobody else liked it because they came for cute girls playing airsoft. They couldn't deal with the fact that the show strongly deviated from the average SoL formula.
>shows that deserve a 2nd season but won't get one
Are you an idiot? Everyone loved the deconstruction of moe but they ruined it at the end.
No they didn't. It was given the "edgy Naruto shit" treatment the whole time.
No, nips don't think like /v/ermin.
They didn't like it because of the poor art direction and the fact it hits too close to home because of Fukushima.
This. I blame the advertising. People came for /ak/, they wanted cute girls doing SABAGE things, of course they were going to hate it. Fuck them all though, it was a fun ride.
Also Samurai Flamenco. Probably my favorite show of 2013, but I guess it's not the kind of show people buy in the first place, and the QUALITY didn't help either.
Didn't the manga get cancelled or something? If it did, was it because of just how badly the anime did?
I loved the show. I guess Shaft Jay couldn't appeal to enough people's fetishes which is scary. Or did really that many people dropped it after she stopped being a NEET?
Also Sasami had best Soundtrack 2013. Fight me.
I didn't hear about that, but that would be depressing.
It got cancelled because the director wanted to go in the same direction the anime went, from what I heard. Fans dropped that shit.
Wasn't Sasami-san a relatively obscure LN before it got adapted? Did it get a sales boost nonetheless?
You have to question how this flopped. It had everything /a/ desires, fetishes, lolis, onee-san, yuri, unsociable strange girl, hints of tsundere, action, I really don't know how
I dropped the anime, but that's kinda sad. Then again, I don't feel bad for dropping it.
Sauce for that?
bad execution. The anime felt like it had a personality disorder or something.
I am at episode 9 of coppelion so far and what bothers me about it is:
-I undestand that japan cant just make STALKER the anime, but if you are going to put cute girls in it, why do they have to be school-girls? black lagoon had a cake too. and why do they have to wear school uniforms on their military style operations?
-B2 bomber with a expandable loading ramp, flying at the speed of jeeps and even crows, equipped with machine gun and able to land on water
-bullet-gas-grenades filling a whole room with smoke (even under extreme pressure and at 0 Kelvin a liquid the size of a projectile wont fill a fucking room with smoke when it turns to gas)
-"I shot the dog with a tranquilizer" - the dog was blown 20 meters away
-no matter how you change the DNA, you cant block gamma-rays. it is not a question of filtering chemical element out with ions or whatever; we are talking about physical not chemical reactions (concerning the core of atoms, not the electron shell).
-eel-DNA makes you shoot lightning bolts in aimed directions
-the show is a total mash-up of of anime-tropes and social commentary pandering to the lowest common denominator and never discussing ethical questions it asks on a deeper level.
-don't get me started on plotholes, like where does X have the money to do Y
-that male "cleaner" teen-boy with faggot hair, smug attitude and token "loyal to peers" personality which japanese patriots like so much. he alone made me want to drop this shit harder than any of the points above
this list isnt nearly as full as it should be to cover all the problems with this piece of shit unoriginal STALKER ripoff, but I guess you get the idea. It would have sold much more copies if they sticked to realism and added some cuteness, like Upotte or girls n panzer did. the show started off really well, with all the hype it created. the number of people who dropped it shows its failure was not marketing, but the quality and quality alone. it is simply shit. no excuses.
Seriously no one said Love Lab yet? It was fucking AOTY.
Coppelion flopped for the same reason K flopped.
Please, don't remind me.
I know it's 2012, but you know how just how bad it flopped if the website was taken down barely 6 months after the anime ended. Even anime that didn't rank in charts had websites which lasted for years.
K didn't flop. it didn't do great, but it didn't flop.
And by the way, how were the sames of the Salami-san LN after the anime aired?
Love lab was fucking terrible. Suckering in people who like yuri for one or two episodes, and then having them fawn over guys.
I'm genuinely depressed about Love Lab.
I want to see more, dammit!
GoHands uses that on all their shit though.
Hell, even the new SYD has them. They're not enough to ruin a show.
Why does it seem that ANN likes a lot of shows that flopped, or despite ANN liking a show, it flopped?
I fucking loved Blood Lad, but I hear it didn't do that well.
Really enjoyed that show. It seems like I'm the only one though.
How were the LN sales before and after?
Wasn't there a show that had lots of filters, and yet it didn't bomb?
This looks interesting. And sexy.
How did this fail?
I know it boosted manga sales, but I don't know if the anime sold well
If I recall correctly, the anime didn't even rank.
Worst. selling. anime. to. rank. ever. 247 BDs sold. DVDs don't rank. Do the math.
Dog & Scissors
Started off very slow, and then turned from a supernatural comedy to a parody of battle shonens halfway through
bad animation, stupid plot, weird fanservice, un-likeable, yet believable characters .
but I wouldn't know much since I dropped it after 4 episodes
Does anyone know how the LNs of Salami-san were doing before and after the anime aired?
I just don't care about shows I don't like, I don't wish them financial failure.
But I really would have wanted Kyousogiga to do better in sales.
I think ANN would agree with you real good.
Infinite Stratos 2 vol 1 27,067
Kyousougiga vol 1 1,075
It even had a pretty cool design, an ornament to every bookshelf.
So... is an anime where sales were bad and whose original source material did not get a large sales boost considered a massive flop?
No wonder it bombed. You couldn't even identify that that was the show you were buying, specifically if you were buying in a store rather than online.
34071 Uta Prince-sama 2
Fujoshi not necessarily stronk though. Just look at Meganebu.
Speaking of Meganebu, what happened to it? Why didn't fujos watch it in droves?
Love Lab was great.
I liked Crime Edgy.
Not exactly sure why it flopped since I remember preorders being around 2.5k for a bit. Might have been due to Gossip Party arc or the stolen kiss.
IIRC, the preorder sales were trolled. Crime Edgy flopped because it was too edgy, and also because of lolis, which Nips seem to now avoid (just look at Loliball for example).
Otaku don't like yuri. They want the same betamax male protagonist oblivious faggot getting chase around for no goddamn reason by pure straight permavirgin tsundere who je t'aime moi non plus all day long because it gives them the illusion that failures can still win. You can't win girls when Yuri.
Loliball didn't flop though.
>not looking previously on net before going to store
>not asking the clerk to point it for you
i know japan is filled with hikkis and shit but those who go out to the store to buy their animu should be able to have the most basic of conversations.
Is it true that Sakura Trick is predicted to be a flop?
well, for the sake of more PUREST FORM OF LOVE shows, let us hope not.
It didn't. 4k average is not a flop by any measure, especially for their budget.
Oh man, this show was amazing.Fuck people who couldn't deal with the fact that the girls liked boys. Now if only we could get the manga translated.
I really liked Red Data Girl. Guess I'm the only one.
MakioxMild One OTP
Kyousougiga is really great, but there isn't much fanservice or anything to pull you in quickly.
Love Lab didn't flop, it sold 3000+ IIRC.
I want to stay away from the manga because of all the scanlation drama in the threads.
The fucker can't even do anything properly without having 20 faggots begging and sucking him for doing it.
So how are pre-order sales doing, by the way?
that's what I thought was good about it
Kyousougiga wasn't great because they started shitting in the characters after the midway point.
Why did ANN give it a high score then?
Why do you care so much for what ANN says? Stop it.
They gave fucking Aku no Potato a 5/5 because it was so 'grim.'
Don't westerners in general like AnH?
Well it WAS pretty grim.
You just hate it because of the potatoes.
I heard that, I don't know why.
It must be because it's full of cheap drama and because it's shit. Normals are sucker for that.
>Liking that shit show
No, never. Your taste is shit
>Wow, half an episode walking back home, it truly is a deep show for deep people like me.
No, your taste is shit. Go suck a dick.
>No, never. Your taste is shit
So ANN and other Western review sites like THEM Anime Reviews have shit taste?
Holy shit, fuck off back to those sites, you fucking retard.
>Speaking of Meganebu, what happened to it? Why didn't fujos watch it in droves?
Comedy series are almost never sold well in Japan (except Gintama and Milky Holmes S1 and S2)
Yes. If you want solid proof, go watch an episode of Pupa or two, then read their reviews, in that order.
They were enough to turn all the scenes in Coppelion into rainbow mush.
It was hilarious how many people fell for it
They actually claim they shed tears during it
Don't forget the forced happy ending
>So ANN and other Western review sites like THEM Anime Reviews have shit taste?
More news at 11.
>Trusting "Proffesional anime journalists"
>Trusting anime reviews
You're just stupid.
You're just jelly that you're not an anime specialist like them.
Wasn't Meganebu! more of a fujoshi-bait show though?
To tell the truth, I picked it up just because of the shitstorm and because of the ED, now that's some great ED, and I was astounded at how many people thought it was actually good.
The whole "date with her underwear" and "running from the city" was just completely stupid and somewhat hilarious.
Damn, you got me.
On a serious note though, if AnH was not rotoscoped, would it have done better?
>they shed tears during it
I didn't know AnH could do that to people.
They reviewed Pupa? Do you have a link?
I shed tears laughing at potato caps and shops.
It was a fun show but I don't feel bad nor surprised that it didn't sell.
>Why didn't fujos watch it in droves?
Most fujo blew their dosh on stuff like Free! SnK, KnB, that one bicycle show, etc.
It could be slightly better, yes.
But it would still be bad since the plot is just stupid and the MC is the a reclusive retarded not to say edgy.
It could have used a better direction too. Maybe a faster execution.
Sadly, without rotoscope we wouldn't the greatest thing to come out from this show, that being the classroom painting scene.
Now that was glorious, it's the only good memory I have of it.
How the fuck is this a 3.5?
Actually, ANN hates Pupa. They are in the minority in that they love AnH like it's the neext big thing in anime.
I've literally read a reviewer claiming Baccano will have the same effect on anime as Pulp Fiction did on film just because of the non-linear storytelling
The fact that Baccano probably took some inspiration FROM Pulp Fiction completely passed them by
uh, I'm thinking of Ano no Hana, you mean Aku no Hana, right?
Sad but it's not like it was being scanlated anyway and the retribution arc for yura did last too long in the anime.
Didn't Baccano flop?
It seems that whenever Western review sites predict something, the opposite happens.
>no mention that it completely bastardized the manga
At least they acknowledge some of the flaws, but those reviews are way too high.
>Sasuga Western tastes
Next we know they'll give Space Dandy a 10 out of 10.
How exactly did pulp fiction shift the paradigms in film? After it, more people perceived Tarantino to be anything other than a hack?
Yeah, I am.
The thread was talking about Aku No Hana.
AnoHana made me sad in the ending and all but it didn't make me cry.
I think some stuff happened to fast on it while other was completely forced, being the best example the bawling scene on the shrine, I couldn't take that seriously even though the characters' motivations were being exposed.
>Next we know they'll give Space Dandy a 10 out of 10.
Probably the opposite, because it isn't Cowboy Bebop 2.0
That's probably why the next LN's didn't get animated
Westerners and Japs have different tastes
ANN also change their reviews if something gets popular (e.g. Madoka, originally written off as generic shit)
They shouldn't make reviews when just one episode has aired, the problem begins right there.
Measuring the entire quality of a show with one episode is just stupid.
>Madoka, originally written off as generic shit
That's what heads do to you
Did anything they hate do well in both Japan and the West, and apart from the aforementioned SD, AnH and Kyousougiga, what were the anime they liked that bombed in Japan? Cowboy Bebop doesn't count, since it's moderately popular in Japan, although not as big as in the West.
Don't really know either but that's what the reviewer claimed
>Like Pulp Fiction changed the way we saw movies, Baccano will be the story that will change the way we see anime
Anime reviewers are pretionious shits who think anime is for mature people like themselves and not otaku and NEETs
Not a flop, but not a hit either.
This is true. I remember reading a review on the first episode claiming it was generic and garbage, not recognizing who the writer of it was. As expected of ANN.
At least Stella bombed. Japan agreed with Zac and Friends for once.
What's up with this "them anime"?
At first I read it the manime, and it doesn't help the review looks like it has been written by some 14-years-old. The site also looks ridiculous, something out of 2000's with that stupid banner.
I can't understand why anyone would give AnH 5/5.
who the fuck liked Aku no Hana animu? It has to be the worst adaptation ever. Fuck I'm still pissed.
A... ri... su...?
They usually have good reviews, but I don't really agree with that review either.
But he criticized it for glorifying guns of all things. In a show about airsoft.
that's just edgy blog faggot trying too hard as usual.
It's funny when you consider Hideo Kojima tweeted about Stella. I wonder what he thought about it in the end?
My only real complaint with ANN is that they are too obsessed with spoiler warnings. Example? Just check their reviews on Valvrave and their corresponding forums.
>They shouldn't make reviews when just one episode has aired, the problem begins right there.
>Measuring the entire quality of a show with one episode is just stupid.
Yes but they should still have been able to see that the art, music and OP didn't indicate that the shows was gonna be some SoL, school, comedy thing
The original review was ridiculous
>I can't understand why anyone would give AnH 5/5.
Because hipsters think it pushes the medium forward by using a completely unique style of animation. In the case of the ANN review, they simply ignored and denied all the criticism/hate for the anime, and essentially summed it up in one line that all the things people find off putting about the animation/artwork is part of the experience and is actually a good thing.
Their reviews for Madoka, SAO and Shana were pretty professional. Their old guard usually make good reviews, while the newer reviews have ANN-like tastes and practices.
The plot was also unique and boundary pushing, anything unique imo should be highly praised
>Haha, I was just pretending to be a bad anime.
Is ANN a hipster site?
The only reason I can think of is that the characters are actually realistic and not just self inserts.
It has some hardcore QUALITY and changes up so often
Because God hates me and everything I like. I just want Season 2 damn it.
It depends on the reviewer.
No, it's as "mainstream" as anime can be, try the forums
>pushing the medium forward using rotoscoping
So what do they have to say about Arpeggio being completely cgi?
I think ANN devs/reviewers are in this thread.
Actually it sold 10k+. Not a flop at all. Season 2 when?
Poor Manglobe. Nothing but flops lately. First TWGOK, then Hayate, and now SamFlam.
I know Zac and Justin are hipsters, but what about their other people, like Bamboo?
Maou was a success IIRC.
SamFlam's QUALITY kept me from watching passed episode one
Haha, jokes on you it almost broke 10000 line.
I think it broke it.
Not a flop at all.
Mind if I go another year or 2 back?
Shit is so based, yet sales continue to suck, people just can't hand no kawaii school girls
then why do they (both reviewers and forum posters) love Aku no Rotoscope so much? I know even most normalfags disliked the series, sometimes for the very reasons why ANN loves it so much.
Ah fuck, I meant past. And fuck you moot.
yup, hence the links to the site
Kaiji is the epitome of kawaii. Japs can't handle so much moe
What? Why is it in it's 3rd season then?
>it didn't actually flop
This is so nice to hear. I had just heard about it not doing well and I usually don't pay attention to sales, so I assumed. Now my hopes for S2 are much higher and I can have faith again.
The only people who do full length reviews often are Carlos, Rebecca, Carl, and Theron. Theron is the closest one you'll get to having similar taste to /a/. Carlos is as hipster as you can get and has all around god awful taste. Rebecca has a clear kind of female bias in her reviews. Carl is hit or miss.
They all aren't really that good and rarely provide some kind of thought provoking opinion on what they review though.
>Implying Kaiji isn't kawaii as fuck.
I thought Sasami was great. Yes most of the bitching are faggots who wanted NEET girl SoL. Yes the OST was among the best.
>Theron is the closest one you'll get to having similar taste to /a/
>Carlos is as hipster as you can get and has all around god awful taste.
Just look at the top shows (Geass, FMA, Clannad, SG, Miyazaki movies)
Except that's wrong. They had a few small arcs, consistent character development, cool fights and everything else that guy mentioned. On top of that the characters are likable but flawed and interesting to watch, not your typical high school faggots and the premise is actually unique.
Also has one of the best fanbases I've ever seen.
No love for Gen'ei wo Kakeru Taiyou?
Theron gives moe/harem anime decent scores and gave SAO and SnK mediocre scores. In Carlos's taste, look at his Fate/Zero reviews (or any action fantasy review he's done) and compare it with Blue Exorcist.
>Actually knowing the reviewers names
You just exposed yourself, fuck off back to your hellhole
Does /a/ hate Blue Exorcist?
They couldn't handle the Plot.
SAO & SnK are shit though
also decent and mediocre basically mean the same thing you fucking shit
>Blindly acknowledging something is bad because others tell you rather than experiencing what may be wrong first hand and forming your own opinion
/a/ hates everything
Doesn't even care that it exists
>decent and mediocre basically mean the same thing
You're an extra special kind of retarded aren't you?
He said "closest" to /a/'s taste. Everyone else probably gives moe/harem shit scores and loved SAO/SnK.
I know anime doesn't need to be reviewed
To be fair, I don't think I even hear that anime discussed anywhere on the net, let alone at /a//
Get a real job
MAL, ANN and other casuals liked it, no one cared after it ended but they had a positive opinion of it while it was airing
>People knowing or caring what MAL or ANN or whatever other shit hole thinks about recent anime
God fucking damn it this board is going down the shitter.
Watch anime, discuss it with people on /a/ who actually watch a decent amount of anime, form an opinion with input from peers, not some faggot with shit taste who thinks they're an anime pro.
Other examples of shows that they like but everyone else hated.
I don't even know what MAL or ANN is.
Am i the kvaltest?
>Muh silly anecdotal website
of an acceptable standard; satisfactory.
of only moderate quality; not very good.
Go outside and learn actual English you fucking retard. No one would ever use mediocre to describe something positively, while they would use decent to do so.
>I don't even know what MAL or ANN is.
Good, as it should be. They're fucking cancer, stay away.
This nigger knows.
oh, I didn't realise we were going by the dictionary, you yourself had written
I just meant that in the English language and in official dictionarys (Oxfard, Merium-Webster, etc) that they have the same definition
Do you think Bleach & Fairy Tail are 8/10 shows? Do you think Code Geass is a masterpiece?
If so, then they might just be for you
English has no official dictionary. Only big companies that publish dictionaries. All of English is completely unofficial and pretty much consensus-based.
You have brain damage.
It's not something you can debate.
Languages like French have central bureaus that dictate the language, what becomes a word, how things are pronounced, etc. Everything in such languages is official and not debatable.
English is not one of those languages. There is no central organization that regulates and dictates the English language. This is not a debatable point.
I'm going to agree with the other guy here. When reviewing things, "decent" carries a slightly positive connotation to it while "mediocre" carries no such connotation. If you're not aware of that distinction then your English skills are lacking.
Full of normalfags.
>socially acceptable or good
>not very good
Sure are the same definitions.
>Decent = Good
>Medicore = Not VERY good
So you admit that decent is good, while mediocre is less than good?
>fairly good : adequate, satisfactory
>of moderate or low quality, value, ability, or performance : ordinary, so-so
>of moderate or low quality
Mediocre is less than VERY good quality according to that definition
And in the context of a review, decent and mediocre are interchangeable
Those of us who actually speak English competently beg to differ.
>Mediocre is less than VERY good
You are not very bright, are you? Protip: it wasn't a compliment, you autistic retard. See the full definition for what "not very good" actually means.
>of moderate or low quality
Not anime but here's a comparison for you:
In the context of a review, vidya critic Yahtzee said the indie game Amy "isn't very good." He later called it the world's best argument for post-term abortion.
In another review, he said Far Cry 3 is "decent." Then he praised it for being great.
Fujos can't into comedy
QUALITY, and honestly I don't know why else
Aired in the same season as IS
Boycotted because Kokoro Connect producer was on board.
Didn't exactly love this one, it went full retard at the end, but it surely deserved some more sales.
Mondaiji tachi flopped because it wasn't generic enough, but it was a fantastic ride. Too bad the manga is finished and the LN languishing.
>Aired in the same season as IS
I really hate how many good shows flop because they aren't super blockbusters like Madoka or SnK that appeal to everyone, and they aren't generic LN haremshit romcom that consistently sell "well" but not "spectacular".
I genuinely enjoyed gen'ei and crime edge.
Japan doesn't like good things.
Or, you know, it was crap.
Sounds like a pretty shitty reviewer with a poor grasp on the English language
>Madoka or SnK that appeal to everyone
Not really the same thing
SnK is a shonen for starters
>with a poor grasp on the English language
Oh the irony.
>Not really the same thing
They both have mass appeal. It's very much the same thing, regardless of their demographic.
>Faggot arguing decent and mediocre are the same thing
Oh, I guess I was expecting too much of you.
I found Coppellion has a very predictable storyline like accel world, dropped it at episode 4 after watching it halfway.
>The plot was also unique and boundary pushing
>They both have mass appeal
SnK is far more popular
Steins Gate is also more popular than Madoka
Some people just won't give a show starring a little girl a chance
I thought people liking Aku no Potato was a joke. I can understand liking the manga, but liking the tryhard anime version is too much.
>SnK is far more popular
>Madoaka has internationally released movies
>Average 71k per unit
Now you can tell us you're just pretending to be retarded.
>poor grasp on the English language
SnK = 150,000 people watched
Madoka = 115,000 people watched
and SnK is newer
>Going by MAL instead of sales and international releases
Mother of God you're stupid.
>QUALITY, and honestly I don't know why else
Show turns to garbage after episode 6
If you mean Guillorilla it is 7, and sales were awful even before that.
But it feel even harder afterwards
>If you mean Guillorilla it is 7
Uh..yeah hence...after episode 6 it turned to shit.
The only other filtered show I can think of would be [K], and I don't have sales numbers on it
Except it didn't.
I hope the movie does better.
Except it did. The show is a giant joke and the only people watching it are "LEL I WATCH ANIME IRONICALLY" fag and retards.
I don't know what more you could ask for, It was a chilled SoL with great characters.
>The show is a giant joke
Yeah. It's a comedy for the most part and always has been if you didn't notice.
>the only people watching it are "LEL I WATCH ANIME IRONICALLY" fag and retards.
Yes. Everybody that watches something you don't like is only doing it ironically. Jesus Christ just stop.
That's the same thing.
>It's a comedy
Oh look another retard
It is though. It always was and it still is. Jesus Christ you people are dense.
>A show that has poor writing and set ups
>HURR DURRR IT'S OBVIOUSLY A COMEDY
>It's a comedy
It's a fantastic parody of the genres it's touching on, while adding in some nice character development and emotional bits.
I'm amazed people think Imaishit makes good parodies while calling Samurai Flamenco shit.
>It's a comedy
I'm not surprised the people who like it believes this, there's also people who think it's a parody
>>HURR DURRR IT'S OBVIOUSLY A COMEDY
You know you're shitposting is just making you look like a retard that has no argument right? You honestly just look like /v/. It was always a comedy from the very beginning.
Keep being retarded and not knowing what you're talking about. Just because it has elements of other genres does not mean it isn't mainly a comedy.
>I'm not surprised the people who like it believes this,
Me neither. Because it's fucking true and was from the start.
>It's a fantastic parody
Oh look anther retard
>It's a fantastic parody
>It's a comedy
You're both wrong
>still has no arguments
Either gain the first or stop doing the second.
It isn't a harem and there's hardly fanservice would be my guess. Plus it has a somewhat slow start before things really get going. Maybe sales might increase with the upcoming stuff.
Whelp at least this post pretty much confirms what this anon>>101405865 said about the people liking SamFlam
Loved this show so much. Ai was perfect and the show deserves more attention than it got.
Yes. Let's keep acting like every single place on the internet doesn't say it's a comedy or anything. Let's just ignore how it's mostly comedic with some dramatic elements from time to time. Jesus Christ I can't believe people can't see what's right in front of your eyes. It's hard to find this level of delusion.
See above. Also you're image seems perfect for your post seeing as how you're the one that doesn't know what you're talking about here.
SamFlam fags live in their own little world. Most everyong has already dropped the show and it's a critical and financial flop but they're delusional.
>HURR DURR IT'S SUPPOSE TO BE A TRANWRECK
>YOU JUST DON'T GET IT! IT'S A PARODY
Makes me happy that it'll be forgotten within the next couple of weeks.
>implying most western anime fans actually buy shit
Yeah. Because this screams "highly dramatic" scene.
This is worse than people who call Blood-C and Platonic Hearts comedies.
Was Tempest and Red data girl last year or 2012?
Nobody's gonna like the suffering.
>It's only funny because it's poorly animated.
Genre: Superhero, comedy-drama
Sorry. I can't hear over the sound of fact.
>Everyone loved the deconstruction of moe but they ruined it at the end.
No, that was /a/.
Japan just hated it.
>why do you think they flopped?
Japan has shit taste etc etc
>making dumb assumptions
Yeah. It's not like he's shouting JUSTICE BEAM BEAM BEAM BEAM or anything. There's nothing funny about that or the fact that he drives a semi with a giant American flag on the trailer. There was and is nothing comedic about SamFlam at any point. It was a very serious drama at all points and not just a few drama parts here and there. Jesus Christ all of you are retarded and need to learn what humor is.
>I'm amazed people think Imaishit makes good parodies while calling Samurai Flamenco shit.
Sets up it up as an obvious pastiche to shows of yesteryear by giving it a style that harkens back to it visually with obvious references
Oh shit! Nobody is liking our Kick Ass anime! Quit! Make something up!
Seriously, the threads were better than the show.
I still believe it'll pull everything together at the end, and make everyone look foolish for saying it has no internal logic and just keeps asspulling things.
There does, so far, seem to be one consistent principle: ones supremacy is proportional to ones strength of conviction. Flamenco's power grows as he gains confidence in himself. The stationer can suddenly make battle-stationery when he really believes he can. King Torture, likewise. All the people who played superheroes on TV find out they can do it too if they try. This is not internally inconsistent,
All that needs to happen sometime in the next ten episodes is an explanation of why this started happening, and that's Christmas ruined and everyone's Hind full of fuck.
p.s. it's homage, not parody.
>Sets up it up as an obvious pastiche to shows of yesteryear by giving it a style that harkens back to it visually with obvious references
It's obviously a parody, that doesn't mean it's not a shitty one.
>Oh shit! Nobody is liking our Kick Ass anime! Quit! Make something up!
>Implying the script was changed on the fly
Confirmed for full retard.
And here I was hoping that they would love the suffering.
Please look up what genre SamFlam is anywhere and you'll see comedy in there everytime. You know why? Because it's a fucking comedy you retard
Teacher: So what do you have for us today Imaishi?
Imaishi: Well it's a show in which I try to incoporate a style visually and narratively reminiscent of old anime but I also want to leave an impression for modern viewers as well. With both styles combined I wanted to make an anime new and old would enjoy.
Teacher: Hmmm...a show that breaks from the conventions and expectations of modern anime but has enough respect for the older periods that it can stand on its own. A+
Teacher: Now where's the director of Samurai Flameco Fuck-up McDumbass?
FuMD: HURRR DURRR HERE YOU GO TEACH I MADE THIS SHOW ITS GOT SUPERHEROES AND IDOLS AND NANOMACHINES ITS ALSO GOT A GORILLA AND ROBOTS AND AMERICA!
Teacher:........McDumbass...you didn't try at all with this work did you?
FuMD: Nah I just got high....
Yeah. SamFlam didn't have tons of obvious references to toku and sentai or anything. It was all just pulled out of there ass out of nowhere. You're really showing how you didn't watch the show and only saw GG like most of /a/ and freaked out about it and called it dumb.
>It's obviously a parody, that doesn't mean it's not a shitty one.
It's not a parody dumbfuck it's a pastiche, it's not ridiculing or making fun of it's style but rather complementing it.
>Implying the script was changed on the fly
You really know nothing do you?
He's praising KlK and calling SamFlam shit. Of course he's one of those retards who jumped in for the hype train and the "epic lulz" after episode 7. Do you really expect a KlKfag to know anything about any genre other than shit?
>SamFlam didn't have tons of obvious references to toku and sentai or anything.
It didn't or else people wouldn't be complaining about it.
>Do you really expect a KlKfag to know anything about any genre other than shit?
I like KlK too and think it's better than SamFlam. Still love both though.
>He's praising KlK and calling SamFlam shit.
Nothing wrong here, I'm actually watching KLK because I'm interested in the story and characters. I'm watching SamFlam to see how bad it'll get.
>It's not a parody dumbfuck it's a pastiche, it's not ridiculing or making fun of it's style
>Oh shit all the characters are literally yelling archetypes with no substance
>I'm avenging my dad and I love my friends!
>Oh shit blind swordsman cliche with no buildup at all!
>Oh man epic speeches about ideals!
>Lots of yelling and smashing into each other but the fights are poorly choreographed and boring
>We have jokes characters than can change the flow of everything at any time because fuck you
>We also fuck with powerlevels at will because fuck consistency!
Yeah sure it's not a parody.
>Doesn't know the difference between a parody and a pastiche
>Critcizing anyone tastes
Why are SamFlamfags so stupid?
You're really showing how you didn't watch the show and only saw what trolls say like most of /a/ and freaked out about it and called it dumb.
>It didn't or else people wouldn't be complaining about it.
Are you seriously blind? He's Master was one of his superhero idles that is straight out of those shows. Did you just ignore his entire room of figures or something? Did you just ignore the whole show or something? Seriously you're just proving you never watched it. The reason most people got upset GG is because the slice of life elements disappeared for the most part after it and because there hadn't been anything saying there was any sci-fi/fantasy elements.
IRC is put on full force today
dude gohands is a decent studio, Mardock Scramble is still one of my favourite anime.
that being said they really screwed up on Coppelion, was fucking terrible.
You're talking out your ass now fantard
>thinking samruai flamenco flopped
dude it's better than ever.
we watchmen now
What even is IRC?
An actual chatroom or some other site
I've watched every episode. It's a mess.
>Doesn't know what an anime parody is
>Doesn't realize anime frequently combine parodies and love letters to a genre the creators liked
>Anyone who thinks KlK is bad is IRC
Ok, I'm out.
That does not change the fact that nobody's buying it.
And stay out.
And yet again you're just proving you don't know what you're talking about and that you haven't watched the show. Try having an actual argument next time and knowing what the fuck you're talking about.
So Samflamfags are KLK haters? How ironic
Golden Time's flopping? You're lying right? I thought it was doing alright.
Good taste though.
>And yet again you're just proving you don't know what you're talking about and that you haven't watched the show.
So essentially what you did here >>101407259
When did this IRC hate even start? One day everyone just started blaming IRC for everything.
>So essentially what you did here >>101407259
That's not me retard. I actually like KlK as well.
I never believed the rumors until I saw this.
Open at your own risk, the truth is beyond the spoilers.
Then again we always had dedicated shitposters, now they have a name.
Because crying about IRC is easier than putting a full sentence together to actually defend an opinion.
Don't think KlK is amazing? Then you're fucking IRC. Talking about it and criticizing it? Fuck you IRC.
>I don't get jokes
>ALL DIS NEWFAGGOTRY
My anon, you're so optimistic.
>Talking about it and criticizing it? Fuck you IRC.
That's not true. A lot of people just go around saying complete and utter bullshit and just doing generic shitposting to try to fuck up as many threads as possible.
The main criticism is that it sacrifices internal consistency. Which is does.
If you start realistic, then suddenly Sentai villains appear from nowhere (in front of a populace that's itself familiar with the genre), then the shit should hit the proverbial. The elements of realism established earlier on should clash violently with the Sentai elements that have been just introduced, creating opportunity for comedic effect (Sean of the Dead, Galaxy Quest), or deconstruction or social commentary.
Instead, the intrinsic incompatibility is completely ignored, and everything continues as normal, /even though a world that knows what Sentai shows are has just seen one start happening in real life/.
Well there's channels for just about anything and everything on IRC, so that doesn't surprise me.
>Typing like a retard
>Thinks he knows what IRC is
I've been reporting Siz and his merry band of faggots long before you were screaming "Saving anime!"
You don't know what IRC really is or how they work.
>A newfag trying to act like an oldfag
>Sean of the Dead
Do you mean Shaun of the Dead? Or did they rebrand it for murrica or something
Nostalgia Critic please go and do the supervillain shuffle
>Calling other people newfags
I can't believe it didn't sell as well as the manga did.
No, it's Shaun of the Dead. Other guy's just dumb.
But Platonic Hearts is the funniest fucking anime I've ever seen.
You are a fucking retard.
ITT: People with shit taste who don't know what they're talking about
