I know torrents are great but why dont people upload to Mega more often. It seems to me that its better because you dont have to worry about seeders.
Im not trolling I really want to know
>>
Mega rapes my FF.
>>
Last time an anon uploaded something to mega for some reason I couldn't download it. Or it downloaded it but it failed during the decrypt or whatever step at the end. Someone uploaded it to nyaa so I just got it there instead.
>>
This is just me speaking about things I have no evidence for.
For one, it may seem crazy, but not everybody has good internet in this day and age. Some places simply don't offer decent packages and it's never as easy "well just move lol" that you all like to spout.
Direct download providers like Megaupload and the like will get taken down eventually and some even delete files if they aren't active within a certain amount of time.
Torrents can lack seeders, but I've had several shows that were upped many years ago and still had 1 or 2 people, I managed to get them and am still seeding them for others just in case.
>>
>>101390744
Correct me If Im wrong but I thought Mega was a lot better than megaupload/other ddl sites because of file encryption and that not even Mega has access to your files
>>
>>101390536
I love Mega but there are way more torrents out there.
>>
>have spotty internet
>half my DDLs will corrupt and stop
>sometimes a few episodes of a show will be removed and have to resort to torrents for the remaining ones
>torrents can be resumed pretty much any time and you can limit how fast they go
>>
>>101390536
The internet still haven't recovered from the last time all those died.
>>
>>101390613
>>101390669
Mega is optimized for Chrome. I think it has something to do with the browser cache or whatever, so in order to download bigger files, you'd need to use chrome. FF + mega plug in doesn't really work for me. It's the only thing I use Chrome for.
>>
Because we have XDCC

/thread
>>
>>101390958
I have chrome installed purely for the odd mega link. I use it for literally nothing else.
>>
>>101390995
I didn't know people this hipster were still around. Do you still use IRC and WinMX too? How about Kazaa or Bearshare?
>>
>>101391028
>Kazaa
Damn, that takes me back.

Anyway, what's the current top tool for single mp3? Google, yeah, but anything else?
>>
>>101390536
It was okay, it gave me equal DL speeds to what I get from Nyaa but then they went and ruined it and banned anonymous uploads/sharing so some sites don't use it anymore.
>>
>>101391062
Youtube and http://www.youtube-mp3.org/ if you don't feel like getting a separate youtube downloader. I have one that will just take whole playlists and convert them if I want.
>>
Do you even XDCC faget
>>
>>101390536
I dunno, MU/Mega is the only ddl that makes the most of my DL speed. Even xdcc is pretty shit these days, I wonder if it's something on my end.
>>
Honeypot
>>
>>101390958

I see, yeah I was using Firefox. That's a pretty big strike against using it then (related to OP's question).
>>
>>101391096
>ripping MP3s from Youtube
HOW RETARDED ARE YOU.
>>
>>101391096
But that's shit. Youtube rapes audio even in their 720p+ videos.
Google it is, I guess.

You cannot tell the difference in bitrate by ear, I guarantee it. You do not have special superhuman ears.

>>101391062
Toppest of pleb. You listen to full albums or nothing.
>>
>>101390917

>the actual limit is what ever is being seeded at

You aren't limiting torrents anon, they're limiting you.
>>
mega devs pls leave
>>
>>101391062

I use XDCC search engines if I'm looking for something that I figure American companies will try to get you for. I wouldn't want to use BT for those files.

>>101391028

I actually mostly use IRC for the chat. I rarely use XDCC but it's useful if an old torrent isn't seeded.

Can't you use JDownloader for it?
>>
>>101391191
Yeah, on your 5$ speakers maybe that could hold.
>>
What were the threads like when Dragon Ball was currently airing? Were they tolerated? I've seen how bad some DBZ can get and then they get removed.

I think it should get faster soon and/or with nightlies if I understand correctly
>>
>>101391191
>You cannot tell the difference in bitrate by ear, I guarantee it. You do not have special superhuman ears.

Having shitty ears must be suffering then.
>>
>>101390536
I use animetosho because mirrors for filehosts are included, but that only works with individual episodes.

>>101390613
what is jdownloader

>>101390744
I'm not saying files won't go down, but mega does a nice job at turning the other cheek, as random's mega mirrors are always up. and just because a torrent link is there doesn't mean there are any seeds or what seeds are there will even let you download the whole thing at more than 15kbs.

>>101391251
yes, jdownloader works with mega.
>>
>>101391191
>You do not have special superhuman ears.
I start making mistakes in comparing 192kbps+ quality audio and that's because I don't have decent soundsystem yet.
>>
>>101391191
Yeah on your $5 speakers and shitty ears, it's EXTREMELY easy to tell the difference between 96k-128k and 320k MP3.
>>
I actually always use this download sides. In my country it's legal to download any movie, pdf or music but uploading isn't.

torrent site gets taken down:
>just reupload all your .torrent files on some new site
>content is still there

filehoster gets taken down:
>someone would have to re-upload all the content, nobody ever will

With torrents you can keep old content available without uploading it until someone actually wants to download it.
>>
>>101391130
I doubt it. They've already fucked up big time with the illegal spying and the raid. The election is coming up and if people found out the government was once illegally messing with Dotcom then it'd be over for them.

>>
>>101390536
No matter how good anyone's new setup is, it's madness to have a single point of failure. Using sites like that as backups is fine, but the primary choice has to be decentralized.

>>101391028
Why would anyone not use IRC? It's still the best there is.
>>
>>101391512
That's Kim Dotcom. He's really really rich and he fights for freedom on the internet. He's taken hits to the face and ribs for it.
>>
>>101391428
>just reupload all your .torrent files on some new site
>content is still there
>but no-one is seeding or it's permanently stuck at a certain percentage

Doesn't matter how many torrent files you upload, if no-one is seeding, it's as good as garbage.
>>
>>101391736
the hash is the same. DHT works. So everyone on the old torrent can still seed it as before.

Also, seed numbers aren't everything. There could be clients that aren't currently seeding but will start doing so once they see that someone is downloading.
Of course that's the long tail and not really fast, but it's still better than the content not being available at all.
>>
>>101391462
Thanks, works just as I wanted.
>>
>>101391832
>implying anons actually seed
top kek
you've spend too much time on semi-private & fill-private sites, cause seeds on public trackers go dead within the first couple months
>>
Does anyone know why animetosho stopped uploading mirrors to mega?

Those were always the best ones.

You're a good man.

So what do you guys think is the best way to download anime? Especially for someone who not only watches ongoing series but looks for older series in his backlog

For older series, batch torrents.

What's wrong with trusting mega anon?
Did they raid your house or something over megaupload files?

It's too slow for me.
I have a somehow shitty connection so the max I can get is 600 KB/s - 1 MB/s.

Mega usually downloads things at ~300 KB/s for me, and sometimes it just stops or won't save the download.
Torrents are fare easier for me. Just leave the client open, go to bed and when I wake up it's finished and seeding. Feels good, mang.

What is Jdownloader
>>
>>101393016
JDownloader is confirmed adware, spyware and it will blow up your PC as soon as you open it.
Seriously though, it's full of shit. Not to mention the issues you can experience.

Sorry but I stick with torrents. They're safer and they make me feel helpful to others.

I've helped out people on animesuki's reseeder page.

Wish there was one for nyaa. I'd have to manually search for unseeded heavily leeched torrents somehow.
