Let's have a Space Battleship Yamato 2199 thread.

I've just finished the series, and I had a blast, it was ridiculously awesome. The characters, the story, the visuals, the sounds: everything was perfect.
I don't know the original anime that aired in the 70s, but this one was a masterpiece.

And I have a question too: is there any chance that we get more of this in some form? I mean, as far as I know there were a lot of feature-length anime movies apart from the original anime series.
>>
I haven't followed its threads and plenty others for half a year. I guess I will learn the answer later in this thread anyway, but still: is it still generally liked and considered to be better than the original and are the nostalgiafags and /m/anchildren still being asshurt enough to show up in these threads and ruin them?

The ending could have been resolved much better.

2199 doesn't have enough space dinosaurs.

like all that ww2 glorification undertones ?
all it did was left bad taste in my mouth

new version is far superior and doesn't look like shit
>>

>the story
The plot is rather simple and typical of '70s space stories. What's so good about it?

Just so you know we're gonna have retards like these every time an anime remake comes about.
>>
It was great, I really couldn't find anything to complain about.

>is there any chance that we get more of this in some form?
Think there's another anime movie coming
>>
Old anime had multiple sequels if I remember correctly. And yes, it was pretty damn good.

How to spot a newfag in two sentences
>>

The execution. You don't see something shows like that anymore. The people in charge made sure to deliver a fine tuned product.
>>
>>101389553
Nothing. He obviously have not seen a lot of anime or setting set in space before
>>
>>101389257
I still need to watch the final parcel of episodes.

No chance for an S2?
>>

>What's so good about it?
I don't know? He's just talking out his ass really. Yamato is the most influential sci-fi anime in Japan so 9 times out of 10 you're probably seen something similar to it.
>>
>>101389781
Then you have to talk about execution, not plot.
Though you could argue that the first half has the same episodic sequences, and Yamato is protected by plot armor.
>>101389678
And shitposters like you who are even more useless than us.
>>
>>101389855
I was talking about space opera, not sci-fi anime.
>>
>>101389895
>Yamato is protected by plot armor
This is one major issue with the show. But no one said it was perfect.

Both are not mutually executive since space operas are sci-fi anime and Yamato is more of a war story than a fucking space opera anyways.
>>
>>101389935
That's a major plot hole though, since Yamato travelled all alone for more than 13 episodes and the enemy couldn't even have a fleet block it.
>>
>>101389834
Movie coming up.
>>
>>101389895
False alarm. It's just a retarded troll.
>>
>>101390025
To be honest, the second half is rigged with plot convenience stuff. You can blame it on being only two cours or the thing being a remake.
>>
The remake was unexpectedly great, but man, it sure attracts some retards.
>>
>>101389855
>9 times out of 10 you're probably seen something similar to it
Too bad shit's in french but the pics should be enough.

>>
>>101390096
I don't see how it being a remake or two cours could alter the critique.
The whole story is based on a heavy plot convenience that is Yamato travelling the universe smoothly, when the enemies are supposed to be invincible.
Sure, the Yamato is strong and all, but it could've have handled a fleet.
>>
>>101390270
>I don't see how it being a remake or two cours could alter the critique
Not enough time to develop the characters or fix situations properly, following stupid bullshit from the original to stay true to its roots.
>>
>>101389977
Masterpiece != perfect

Fucking retard.
>>
480p batch
when
>>
>>101390319
Did you even read my post?
How could you fix the situation in more than two cours? The premise itself is Yamato being the last hope for mankind and travelling the universe.
The characters aren't even related to my point so I don't see why you had to include their development.
>>
>>101390447
The premise is fine. Yamato having too much plot armor especially in the second half is another story.
>>
>>101390514
It's not fine because it's based on Yamato's plot armor.
A single spaceship can't win against a fleet, especially when it had to travel for years.
Thought it was a typical setting of the first space opera.
>>
>>101390665
There's the White Base in Gundam 0079.
>>
>>101390752
Nobody said Gundam is more believable.
In fact 0079 is another example of old space story.
