Am I a faggot for liking shoujo manga?
I fucking love shoujo. But after a certain number of chapters they get boring.
Recently Horimiya let me down with the new lesbian character that like Hori.
Horimiya is shounen
Depends which ones you read.
Give some josei a try.
No. Shoujo is fun.
but you're a little girl
>Am I a faggot
>for liking shoujo manga?
Depends on which.
"Am I a faggot" is a game you can win OP, there is no winning move.
Just like what you like and don't worry about who something is aimed to.
It's a part of those manga I would call "shounen for girls" if it wasn't an oxymoron.
Not "shoujo for boys"?
No, because they are manga pubblished in a shounen magazine (hence shounen) but made with the idea of getting female readers (for girls).
What about Yamada and the seven witches?
I read Taiyou no Ie because Mao.
That's a normal shounen manga, made by a woman but still something I expect to have a lot of male readers.
Even so, the majority of it is still being read by the intended demographic. That would decidedly make it neutral, but it clearly isn't.
I read Taiyou no Ie because Daiki.
Looked it up,
While it has some head-desk moments, it's not what's it's turning out to be. It's just too cute to not read regardless.
How do you know?
And if I showed Horimiya to 10 people they would say it's for girls.
That said, I'm sure it has a lot of male readers, a lot of guys don't like things for girls "because they are for girls" even without watching nor reading them.
Do you not pick up any romance manga, then? A large portion of them are unrequited in the beginning.
I like romance in general but if the main love interest is a scary guy on the outside but loving on the inside like in most shoujo I do not have interest in reading it. I do not even bother with unrequited love like teacher student or incest things.
I enjoy seinen romance manga a lot more in that view.
If it's there in the same magazine as their other manga, I'm sure they'd be picking it up. It certainly didn't stop people on /a/ picking it up, when this place is mostly devoid of shoujo.
>scary guy on the outside but loving on the inside
But the best shoujo love interest fits this description exactly.
>when this place is mostly devoid of shoujo
I wouldn't say so, the shoujo anime we get tend to be popular here, the problem is we aren't getting any anymore.
Inari Konkno is seinen, before someone mention that.
>new chapter never
I seriously thought that was Phoenix Wright from the thumbnail.
I'm going by a review on Manda updates. 40 chapters of depressing shoot is not work the probable 3 chapters that are cute. I like stuff like 3D Kanojo because they were in a relationship by the 4 chapter.
I'm pretty sure a lot of it is ignored. And the remainder is already pretty exemplary. Even josei has more presence often.
The manga is adorable from the beginning, though. I certainly wouldn't characterize it as "depressing." And unlike a lot of shoujos, the romance isn't the only driving theme in the manga.
if what you say is true then it won't hurt to check out. not reading anything now anyways.
Personally I find it to be one of the better ongoing shoujos out there. Some chapters are pretty emotional, but I'd probably describe it as heartwarming before I'd call it depressing. Mao's dad is a prick, though.
Shit taste, Yuri master race
any others I should check out? I think I'm reading only ever green and 3d kanojo.
Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji
Its probably my favorite manga which I actively follow
Fun fact: girls in shoujo manga are prettier than girls in harem series
Harems are gabage
I'm not reading a ton of shoujo at the moment, but I'd rec Last Game. Male MCs, a rarity for shoujo, and both leads are a lot of fun. They're also OTP as fuck, which leads to a lot of "just fuck already" instances.
Male MC rather, there's only one.
Kyouya is very good-looking no homo.
You will never be his dog ;_;
Feels bad man.
No, but I'd never read a single shoujo for an extensive period(or read several series back to back for that matter).
My gripe about shoujo is that the art is usually sub-par. And apart from the main romance, there isn't much to be had.
Not at all Sukitte il na Yo was fucking great.
I read Hirunaka no Ryuusei and it breaks my heart. What happened to predictable shoujo manga? Looks like for once the rival will succeed. They're so boring together.
I picked up Otomen from a shoujo thread last week, it's nice and funny
But yes OP you are a fag
My nigga, I fucking love Hirunaka no Ryuusei. I want Shishio to win but Mamura has really grown on me.
I've tried some shoujo, I generally enjoy it in the beginning, until love rivals and misunderstandings and all that annoying drama start showing up, like in Kimi ni Todoke
Is all shoujo like that? Do girls really like this shit?
I hate those too. Shitty cliches happen in shitty shounens too though, you'll probably find ones you like eventually, although most all shoujos will still be romance heavy. You could also try josei.
Skrillex was a faggot. Kai deserved Mei much more.
What about Shoujo Yuri?
does that exist? I thought everything containing yuri was automatically considered as josei.
it depends on which shoujo you like.
My favorite shoujo of the moment is categorized as shounen. Yet it is more like Chihayafuru than anything else.
For a second I thought that pic was Light Yagami.
No, not all of them are like that. There's a pretty decent amount of variety in shoujo and josei once you start looking into certain artists and what they like to focus on in their work.
I was working on a chart of recs but my computer crashed before I could finish it and I haven't bought a new one yet. Seems some people around here saved the unfinished sample but the text is all jumbled from when I was adding and removing titles.
Is this it?
I think when people say shoujo has shit art, they're only thinking about stuff from the (early) 00s. 70s, 80s and 90s shoujo had great art, and the 10s look pretty good.
>Is all shoujo like that?
>Do girls really like this shit?
No, this is
Something is wrong with this picture...
Shoujo artstyle is the worst.
I've noticed that shoujo with male leads and non-romance shoujo tend to be really good.
The best shoujo are those without a focus on romance.
For example Natsume Yuujinchou is great.
All those titles are mismatched
Look, some shoujo has amazing art, some has shit art. it's the best and the worst, barring god levels like obligatory Miura. Shoujo just has more detailed art. Some is good, some isn't. Depends if the cuntfuck artist did their realism studies or not.
Suck my dick, friend.
>some shoujo has amazing art, some has shit art
This is true of all manga though
That's just typical manga artstyle, not the distinct shoujo artstyle.
Yeah you're a cunt
>shoujo has one artstyle
No, fuck off.
Mah negro. This manga is so cute.
I do like some shoujo manga.
The original three chapter from Last Game is good.
Don't read the rest because it's misunderstanding shit.
Yeah, I don't know if I can recover the ps file to fix everything but I have an earlier version saved on a flash drive
Good taste, anons.
Best shoujos are the ones not drawn with a typical shoujo artstyle.
Completely agree, I'm surprised I don't see this more often on /a/ when it's so good.
New chapter when?
>New chapter when?
Hopefully soon. I wish there was more discussion surrounding this manga, or shoujo as a whole for what matters.
There's not many anons who read shoujo, bias against them are strong (we're talking about a board where you can use words like "shounenshit" and the like without getting instantly banned).
I've tried a few ones, and as some said I can't get past the artstyle. I really dislike the combo "giant eyes/eyelashes/and sometimes lips".
I had that problem with a few josei too, was very interested in Fukuyadou Honpo but the art discouraged me.
In the end, I'm only reading Natsume, which art I like a lot. Will try Akagami no Shirayuki Hime too.
>Am I a faggot for browsing /a/?
FTFY and answer is yes
I'm one of those strange people who like the art in shoujo/josei, but the art in Fukuyado Honpo is undeniably bad. It does make up for it with a nice storyline.
Well, i for one like dick and shoujo manga.
Implying there someone on /a/ who doesn't like dicks.
Thank you to the anon who recommended this
>Will try Akagami no Shirayuki Hime too.
Don't ditch it after the first few chapters. I thought it was okay at first, but it gets a lot better later on.
You should also try Seishun Kouryakuhon. It's really short, but a good read. By the same mangaka too.
The master race read whatever is good OP.
speaking of shoujo, will any of these get a 2nd season, /a/?
No. I'm sorry, anon.
C'mon, everybody here is riding the Seo Kouji trains.
You are not alone OP.
Old shoujo best shoujo.
Moon Child was fucking wacky.
Only Romantic shojo are like that, the demographic is 16yo or younger girls that's why the characters are stupid and simple minded so those girls can relate with them, it also can cater people with a shallow and immature view on love.
Will I get a second season of this?
No. I'm sorry, anon.
It can't be helped
I just finished, or maybe caught up with, X. I was afraid the series was going to be just dreams of the coming apocalypse, but then shit actually happens and I liked it.
It is requited though, he just doesn't realize it yet.
Ten years later and I'm still mad
Nope, shoujo is fantastic.
No. There are bunch of shoujo that doesn't focus on romance 100% of the times and they end up being of one the best. Example is Natsume Yuujinchou which honestly, has some masterpiece moments.
As long as it's good shoujo manga
Most of it isn't
will it ever get finished?
Mizutani Fuuka's stuff is so goddamn adorable. If you haven't, read 14-sai no Koi next.
Kanno Aya draws better than most mangakas out there.
Who knows. At this point I'm not even sure I'd like it to be finished, given CLAMP's track record with endings.
Kamisama Hajimemashita sold good, I wish they could make another season of it. It was the best of those three in your picture.
I'm reading Last Game, House of the Sun and KnT.
Like with most demographic indicators, you can't use them to generalize.
'Shounenshit' is shitposting.
Downloading right now
Yamada is made by a woman?
Maybe that's why the action scenes look so nonsensical
There's a certain artstyle common in shoujo that I really don't like, but I still read it sometimes
You and me both. It's just a bitch to find scans of the earlier chapters that aren't watermarked to death.
Anyone here reading Hana-kun to koi suru watashi? I'm sad it isn't more popular.
Shoujo is pretty fun at first because I'm a sucker for sappy romance stuff, but then it just gets boring after a while.
How much rape culture has from the scale of 1 to 10?
He's 31, she's 10.
Greatest love story ever told
Can anyone here recommend me a shoujo without misunderstandings? I'm fucking tired of that shit.
Yeah fuck watermarks. Gotta love the main character of last game. All that spaghetti.
I want to protect this smile
Perhaps something not shoujo?
Here's a better chart
Hardly anything good is ever adapted. Also, no one is looking for 'female targetted' shit, but instead shoujo that suits both male and female audiences
This was probably one of the creepiest classic shoujo I've read.
Either I'm much more feminine than I thought, or that chart is utter bullshite.
Oh god, whats up with her face?
The latest, obviously.
What if Horimiya gets an anime?
>No chapters of Kore wa Koi no Hanashi for months right when it was getting interesting again
I heard Orange was off hiatus. When is it starting again?
My nigga. Mao is cute as fuck.
This month, actually. Chapter 10 is coming out on the 25th.
Oh wow, brilliant I just picked it up recently.
I love the art style of this, with the scribbly eyes.
>I think when people say shoujo has shit art, they're only thinking about stuff from the (early) 00s.
It's probably because of how prominent Shoujo Beat used to be in the english community. There are only a few titles under that publication that don't look bad, and a lot of good shoujo titles like Basara and Here is Greenwood were published under the regular viz label.
It is Japan's 50 Shades of Gray.
Is this show really good? The male character designs turn me off. I can handle cute dudes but they just look turbo gay.
But I loved Shugo Chara. I hope I'm not a faggot. Ikuto best boy.
I feel the exact same way.
I thought I was the only one.Cute as fuck manga.
The only who looks really gay to me is Kurama (the one with red hair) and that's on purpose because he's supposed to be a parody of a typical visual kei pretty boy
Basically every genre has at least one decent read.
You're still a faggot OP.
>shitload of shounen
>several seinen shows
>Akagi/Kaiji in the bishounen category
Read the manga, you idiot.
>Akagi/Kaiji in the bishounen category
Everyone knows they are in the moe category.
What the fuck?
>shounen for girls
>shoujo for boys
What are some more examples of this?
>shoujo for boys
Anything in Monthly GFantasy, even Japanese acknowledge it as being a mag that intentionally panders to fujoshit. A lot of people also mistake 3 Gatsu no Lion for shoujo because of Umino's art style and most of the characters being girls. It's seinen. There are also miscellaneous manga magazines like Manga Erotics F that kind of pander to everyone.
For the other way around I can't really think of much but Swan was pretty much like a shounen sports series except with girls trying to kick each others asses with ballet.
That was probably one of my first Shoujos.
I'm glad he won
Oh and maybe Toward the Terra for the latter, it's a sci-fi shounen but it was very popular with girls since Keiko Takemiya made it.
Inuyasha is shounen for girls
Fucking this, it's pretty good. The side relationship is kinda meh though.
>The side relationship is kinda meh though.
Are you kidding me? It's one of the highlights of the manga.
Would you count Hinatama and Shinkuu Yuusetsu as shoujo?
It's bordering BL but I goddamn love these.
Also where's the Aozora Yell love at? It's a great series.
I've mostly stuck to old shoujo, I should branch out to more stuff from this decade.
Not really, the stories are usually really cute
I read up until Chapter 6 intermission so it was just starting.
It completely changed the atmosphere of the story having a teacher chase a student down.
I assume it gets better throughout the rest, since you highly enjoy it. So I'll start catching up. You better be right.
And for the love of God, fuck the chapter naming conventions. I have to keep changing the folder names to properly go in order.
I've always loved the way Peach-Pit draws eyes. It's a shame some of their works haven't been scanlated. Rozen Maiden II and Kingyozaka Noboru scanlations are going so slowly and in KN's case the typesetting is terrible.
Ah fuck, forgot I have to get it from there.
Damn them and not using DDL.
It really is good. You can't really call it meh if you just read their intro, give it a chance.
Isn't that BL? Does that count as shoujo or no?
First impression anon are the most important. But I understand, I could have possibly jumped the gun.
Ah I was going to say Terra too, fits perfectly
Isn't BL a subset genre of Shoujo? Since it's targeted at girls in that age range?
No mention of the greatest ongoing shoujo manga. I am disappoint.
>This image is hosted at mangafox.com
Yeah, you can stop posting now.
I don't know what this thread counts as shoujo, but it ran on Shoujo Comic. It's BL but there's nothing too graphical in it.
Back in the day it was considered shoujo because yaoi/bl hadn't been defined as genres yet, and it was also published in a shoujo magazine.
But yeah it is about boy's love.
This is one of my favorites, though no one ever seems to mention it. It's about a reverse trap who gets sent to an all boys academy.
Shoujo manga is my guilty pleasure, I love Marmalade Boy.
(Satoshi was the best boy, fuck Nacho)
I dropped it a couple of years ago. Is Ren still going on with his DARKNESS?
From what I've seen Shoujo is literally the same thing over and over.
It's Always the shy/bitchy girl getting the cool quiet guy, and there's other guys but they have no chance of winning the protag because they're either 1. too cute 2. a womanizing pervert 3. rich and possibly a rapist.
It's pretty much resolved somewhat now. He's gone back to being Kuon for the time being but he seems to be having an identity crisis.
You could say the same thing about shounen and every other kind of story. There are good shoujo.
>chance of winning the protag because they're either 1. too cute 2. a womanizing pervert 3. rich and possibly a rapist.
That doesn't explain how did this guy manage to win
You certainly haven't read the good ones.
Ya'll need some taste. Tadese was the best boy for Amu. Skater was the overall best boy next to the trapIt's been years since I watched so excuse me for the names.
I hope so
New chapter whenever the guy doing the typesetting gets around to it.
Mind me asking what this is?
The good ones have lovable characters and a funny story.
Looks like Swan.
>poor mans's Glass Mask
