Fucking CG idols. First was AKB0048. Now it's WUG. Are CG idols the new CG mechas?
CG in general seems to be trending this season, KLK has been doing it too.
Looks like Yamakan couldn't save us.
you try animating 40 girls on one screen frame by frame.
Isn't he doing the whole show pretty much by himself at this point?
It has like 3 character models, color and hair swapped.
In a large panning shot with many characters all doing complex movements, did you honestly expect any better?
There's this thing called having a fucking budget.
as long dances are in 2D anime still can be saved
it's quite normal using 3D for distance shots these days
It's the recession.
Also they are lazy,
Yamakan was begging for animators the other way, what did you expect?
I don't know.
But a while ago, they were begging for animators.
Not a good sign.
there's only like 6 official people in his company, everyone else is hired hands.
Are you saying that it's easy to get CG animators?
I wouldn't call that "CG animation", since it's just 3 models with bits and colors swapped around. Actual, decent CG would be like the Black Rock Shooter tv series.
This is why you should stick to im@s for superior idol choreography.
I loved im@s and it's my favorite idol franchise/series, but why can't any other idol anime use full 2D? Dancing uncanny valleys are not moe.
Even low budget 2D is fine, like Natsuiro Kiseki. Just not this shit.
Because they rather be cheap.
How much does cheap 3D cost compared to cheap 2D?
Sengoku Basara did the CG dancing the best.
"Actually I-1 club is CG to show how different they are from WUG. I-1 isn't concerned with quality, they're fine with using cheap methods to get ahead."
Is what I'd like to believe, but Yamakan probably can't keep up a good level of quality.
It's much easier to make a bunch of models to do the same animation than to draw every individual person dance at 24 fps.
