At what point has a series become too long?
For me, I think the breaking point is generally 20 volumes. Not to say there are no series that exceed 20 volumes and still are good, but those are definitely exceptions.
Image random, probably unrelated.
Manga? 20 volumes
Anime? 26 episodes
Depends on pacing and quality. Fullmetal Alchemist could have used a few more episodes. Mouse was much too long.
Wow I thought that was Hayate.
More than 52 episodes.
so did i
Considering nobody is forcing me to watch, I'd say 4,000 episodes would be the mark at which a series is too long.
more than 50 episodes is too long for me
OP = Hayate + Aria?
>26 vol, >52 episodes
It depends on the series, really.
I think OP is little busters
Berserk is never too long. The only thing to long about it is the time inbetween releases.
And 40 volumes
Monster is a good example of a series that isn't too long because.. it's Monster.
It's not that I will refuse watching anything with more than 50 episodes, it just makes it harder
And 20th Century Boys is a good example of a series that got too long.
i think a series has become too long whenever the reason for creating new volumes/episodes changes from moving the story along to squeezing out dollars from the franchise. thats why some works should end after a few volumes/episodes, while others (say, berserk as a good example) arent "too long" no matter how much is produced.
depends on the series, I want berserk to go on forever because its an epic and a decent one but I want most shounens to end at vol 15
Exactly. Whenever it is still interesting and you never lose track of things, it could go on forever
