I finally got around to watching Mai-HiME, and am almost done with it.
I know this is slowpoke.jpg, but... HOLY SHIT
Needs more artifacts.
NOBODY DIES IN MAI-HIME
It's awesome at that point, isn't it.
All the harder the fall later.
Great ending or GREATEST ending?
Finally realizing how awful it was?
i love mai
I hate it when manga is different then anime, I always read a manga for a series before I watch it. The mai hime manga ruined it for me
oh lawd that ending...
dont watch last ep.
youve been warned
Shit was slow as fuck for the first... like 20 episodes. Then it got good. Then everyone came back at the end.
The mai-otome manga was awesome becomes of the trap. Would recommend.
Too bad they screwed the pooch on the ending.
Enjoy it now, the ending is where it fucking fails.
Mokoto no CHILD deska.
The ending isn't that bad and the show is definitely worth watching.
At least it's much better than Otome.
>>10134940 Shit was slow as fuck for the first... like 20 episodes.
Jesus Christ, get back on your meds Captain ADHD
Am I the only one who thought that this was a terribly done anime?
First half was awful. Second half was less awful. It was really pathetic how they tried to create this melodramatic bullshit and failed horribly at it.
Manshiro was a shitty protagonist, OH GOD I'M TOO MUCH OF A PUSSY TOO BE A MAN THEN SUDDENLY HE'S JESUS AND HE'S HERE TO KILL GODZILLA. The mai otome manga was funny for the support characters though
Brilliant but for the ending but seriousley it need more Haruka
I actually didn't mind terribly that everyone came back in the end, it's just the mood was too happy-go-lucky. They make this excellent drama and then do a 180 at the end with the whole "lets all defeat him together with the power of love!" bullshit.
I liked it from the first episode, yes it had some flaws but it was enjoyable to watch. You shouldn't expect too much from a Sunrise show anyways.
I love shitty-protagonists.
What episode are you on?
I think Mai-HiME still has some of the greatest HOLY SHIT THAT WAS AWESOME and/or UNEXPECTED moments I can think of.
To name but a few:
Jesus christ, Nao just lost an eye
Natsuki's mother sold her!?
Evil rapist Shizuru
Haruka you fucking rock... and now you're dead
Mai killed Mokoto
Evil Shiho is evil, don't mess with her
Shit was boring. Felt plotless/pointless till they had to start fighting each other.
I remember watching this back when it was first starting to air and I thought it was fantastic. Around the middle is where I was shitting myself constantly wanting the next episode.
Then the last episode came and I thought it was going to be some over the top dramatic ending. Instead I got a reset and a super happy ending of garbage. I was sorely disappointed for the next couple of days..
Why does her pissed off face remind me of Leouch's one?
How and why the fuck do an evil, deranged slut and an android w/o a soul become nuns?
Another fucking reason why I disliked Mai Hime.
The nun was fucking annoying and a big hypocrite.
Shit slow start, epic middle, ending sucks.
Lol lesbian animu.
>>10135098 Instead I got a reset
What reset? The only thing reversed were the deaths, which everybody should have seen coming (green sparkles? come the fuck on)
Otherwise, it didn't reset anything. People still changed from how they'd been at the start of the series and before HIMELANDER.
From the way some people endlessly whine about the ending being SUPER HAPPY RESET you'd think it had Nao and Shizuru walking through a park hand in hand smiling and laughing together.
It could have been the OH SHI- drama that we all look back on and think: "Wow, Sunrise really had some balls to do that."
It's a joke, son.
Mai was pretty awesome in Otome, though.
Otome-Mai for the win.
Too bad she barely appeared.
Thanks to Tate not existing. Other than as some unimportant shadow in the past.
That doesn't make her any less awesome, though.
At this point, actually.
How exactly does Mai-Otome work anyway? I was going to watch that next, and it seemed a bit awesome, but it looks like it became a magical girl show.
Watch it for delicious Erstin, and tits.
Nao and Shizuru still had a happy ending, despite that not happening.
Also, everyone coming back to life could've been done MUCH better. The reason people didn't like the ending was because they just all came from out of nowhere so they can all fight the evil together and win. What kind of cliche bullshit garbage is that? Especially after the overly dramatic death scenes and how it impacted the characters. It just didn't leave a good taste in your mouth after stomaching all of that.
I could understand some sort of conclusion to the battle with Mai and Mikoto, and THEN someone like Tate comes back with no recollection or something, but him coming out with his sword fighting to the death with his senior, fuck that.
>>10135374 How exactly does Mai-Otome work anyway? I was going to watch that next, and it seemed a bit awesome, but it looks like it became a magical girl show.
Spinoff, probable far distant future of the Hime world, etc.
The connection between the two is not direct.
>From the way some people endlessly whine about the ending being SUPER HAPPY RESET you'd think it had Nao and Shizuru walking through a park hand in hand smiling and laughing together.
It fucking did. Nao and Shizuru fought side-by-side thanks to the magic of HiME-FRiENDSHiP, Mai lost all her character development and went back to being a shy naive girl, everyone forgave Darth Imouto, etc.
The only two who got to keep their character development were Akira and Takumi.
Tate appearing like a big hero and not really doing shit is hilariously retarded. And it's a plot hole, as he should have appeared in Shiho's hospital room, not at the cave.
It sucked cause after you accepted the deaths and stopped crying, they come back to life with a fucking hax.
What ever you do.
DO NOT WATCH THE LAST EPISODE!
You'll enjoy it more.
Don't forget the picnic scene and the karaoke party. Oh lord.
Nah, you have to watch it. First you'll feel like you've been punched in the stomach but after that it just becomes hilarious.
>>10135445 Nao and Shizuru fought side-by-side thanks to the magic of HiME-FRiENDSHiP,
Wow, being in the same general area when they blew up super evil thing in the course of 20 means they're best buddies!
They never once interacted after their return other than Nao snarling at Shizuru and Shizuru blowing it off like a goof.
>>Mai lost all her character development and went back to being a shy naive girl,
No she didn't. She also ditched all the baggage she'd been carrying from episode 1, too.
>>everyone forgave Darth Imouto, etc.
Who exactly amoung the entire casts were supposed to hold grudges?
Otome is exactly like HiME, but with a terrible main character and no OH SHI- at all. It's boring until the end, then it's just awful.
I thought it was a straight up alternate dimension. It's not?
>>10135604 Otome is exactly like HiME, but with a terrible main character
It also has a better ending (shame the middle part of the series is boring as hell)
While we're on the subject.
I watched hime like a year ago and thought it was ok, I watched the first episode of otome but then I forgot about it. Should I watch Otome and the OVA's or were they horrible?
Just brain off and enjoy the lesbians.
Main series of Otome was terrible. And I kinda enjoyed HiME.
Dunno about OVAs.
Otome is watchable as long as you accept beforehand that it's nowhere near as good as Hime, and Mai isn't going to be in it in any relevant way.
The Otome Zwei OVA is pure fanservice fluff for people who liked Otome and nothing more.
The Otome prequel OVA that just came out however was pretty good, and worth watching.
Otome is fucking bland, the story is shit and the fights are really, really crappy. It doesn't even come lose to being as good as Hime, not that Hime is that good to begin with though.
Relative to Mai, the roach in Otome *is* terrible.
I'M A FAGGOT WHO LOVED THE ENDING
I think you're the first person to ever argue that Hime's end was the plausible direction for all that character development to end up at.
If you'd said that you liked the ending despite its flaws I could accept that. However I can't take anyone seriously who thinks that Nao turning into a nun and the Himes all forgiving each other was anything other than a happy ending for the sake of a happy ending and lulz.
I'm shitting bricks knowing that I may be disappointed in the end.
I hate my life.
FUCK YEAH PERKY NIPPLES
Is that what they did on the anime? for real? you are not making that us?
Everything Nao did was for her mother, she isn't really a bad girl. With her mother getting better, it would make sense she would try to atone for her sins in a way.
The other girls all realized it was more important to move on, and it's not like they really hated each others.
>>10135776 I can't take anyone seriously who thinks that Nao turning into a nun and the Himes all forgiving each other was anything other than a happy ending for the sake of a happy ending and lulz.
You'd have to be a fucking retard to think Nun Nao was anything but a one scene joke.
And yes, ALMOST everyone forgiving each other does perfectly fit in line with their personalities.
Are you actually going to argue that it would have been in character for people like Mai, Natsuki, Yukino, Midori, or who ever you want to list to actually hold grudges?
Haruka could have, but she interacts with nobody at the end. Nao could have, but that would be tossing away the way it revealed that she's not at all the bad person she outwardly appeared.
After everything that happened, srsly you gais, those dykes all deserved a happy ending.
HiME was shit.
Otome was better.
Problem with HIME's ending is, Nao and Shizuru were FUCKING INSANE! And then, all of a sudden, they're all nice and happy and everyone forgave them. Shizuru RAPED Natsuki and murdered people, and Natsuki is fine with it afterwards? Nao tried to kill Takumi and yet Mai's fine with her?
And what the Hell were Mashiro and Nagi anyway? They left it totally unexplained, as well as if Mikoto was actually Reito's sister or not.
Still better than the FAIL that was My-Otome Zwei.
I'll argue that at the very least, Tate and Mai should have distanced themselves from Shiho. But no, that would have demanded consistent character development.
I also find it inexplicably stupid that, while crawling from the ashes and rubble of the school's extraplanar basement, Mai and Tate somehow never took 30 seconds to kiss. There's only one justification for that insult to the viewer's intelligence: MUST PRESERVE TENSION! CANNOT ALTER RELATIONSHIPS!
Mai otome is like mai hime... pretty shitty at first, episode 17 (if i remember well) is EPIC in all possible ways... then is a normal/standard anime... till that EPIC escene in wich Nina do THAT.
Shit like Nun Nao and Nun Miyu (WTF?) is canon. Like the scene where Tomoe dies after falling hundreds of feet without her robe in Otome and then pulls the sheet off of her dead body when they're carrying her away.
And how did Alyssa come back if she wasn't a HIME? Hell, now that Miyu and Alyssa are back and the HIME have lost their powers, Searrs is free to take over the world. OOPS!
You are now aware that the HiME star represents menstruation manually.
The defining characteristic of Mai's entire character is that she's the nicest fucking person on the planet, why would she do that?
Why would Tate?
>Shizuru RAPED Natsuki
She almost kissed her. She never raped her. You're a fucking idiot.
NO ERSTIN NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
>Everything Nao did was for her mother, she isn't really a bad girl. With her mother getting better, it would make sense she would try to atone for her sins in a way.
The other girls all realized it was more important to move on, and it's not like they really hated each others.
Also, Otome Nao is exactly what HiME Nao would be like without the horrible traumatic past.
And Otome Nao is, lets face it, pretty god damn awesome. She's a bad girl, but that doesn't mean she's a bad person.
(and she reads treatises on sadomasochism, how's that for aweosme?)
FUCK YEAH SPIDERNAO
Shizuru RAPED Natsuki while she was unconscious, you fucking slowpoke.
The kiss was a day after the rape.
Look how stupid you are.
You know what, I was going to keep arguing with that anon who thinks that Hime's ending is plausible but then I realized something.
Trying to seriously understand or explain the idosyncricies of Hime or Otome's plot is about as painful as banging your head against a wall, and you'll probably lose as many brain cells too.
So instead here's my favorite Shizuru pic.
fuck you guys, Mai-HiME and My-Otome was awesome! things only suck in retrospect
>>I need things spoon-fed to me
Thats what Yukino's child showed. Why the fuck would Natsuki be so upsed if she was not raped?.
Yeah. Stripping and then laying on top of someone is kissing.
only good part in otome
this is my favorite shizuru picture
but... it's just a dream, right?
it happened. also, >>10136735
is my fucking snap?
Shizuru lied down naked next to Natsuki at the most (if that scene was even real and not just Natsuki imagining shit because of Yukino's words). How the fuck could she have stuck her fingers in Natsuki's vag000 or whatever it is you think she did without waking her up? Obviously nothing terrible happened.
Are you really this fucking stupid?
THEY ONLY KISSED!
JOHN SMITH, YOU BASTARD!
C'mon guys do you seriously thing a Evangelionesque 'Everybody dies' ending would have been suitable for a magical girl series? it just wouldn't have worked. Mai-Hime was a decent show and no reason to judge it solely on the last episode.
I liked Hime's ending a lot better than Sunrise's other ones.
Fuck you Gundam Seed.
Hime's greatest accomplishment is that thousands of fans have sat down and tried to imagine this scenario in their minds to decide if it's possible or not.
Then they all came up with different answers and went to the internet to argue about it.
Where was this explained? And women can be fingered and not wake up. Natsuki was unconscious from being gravely wounded. She was out cold. Shizuru raped her. It's so obvious. That's why Natsuki was so horrified when she heard about it.
If that was a dream, then why did Shizuru not deny it when Yukino made it all up?
The d/u/des are clearly invading /a/.
SUBTEXT ITS ALL SUBTEXT.
Natsuki has some weird delirium dream of Shizuru kissing her but laughs it off as ridiculous when she wakes up.
Then she gets to listen to Yukino's I SAW WHAT YOU DID TO HER accusations.
She doesn't know what the fuck happened because she was unconscious, that's part of why she's so creeped out.
guys, this SCENE is JUXTAPOSITION with the WhiteHairKid/Obsidian dialog concerning a depressed Mai, "You know you could've taken her body?"
so while Mai was not raped, Natsuki didn't fair as well
Havent you watched kill bill?. Natsuki was in a fucking coma. B U C K F U C K
Moralfags would never aknowledge a girl raped another girl.
Oh no, that one was full course consensual lesbian sex with a baby fetish.
Please anon, you know shit about women as much as I do.
Look how fucking stupid you are.
Why not? My-HIME was more Shonen than Shoujo. Nearly everybody died in FMA and in many of Sunrises other shows, so why not HIME? This isn't Sailor Moon, you know. HIME was very gritty in the death department. The deaths changed the characters and made them grow. Everybody coming back cheapened it and reversed all character development. Hell, at the end, Mai was still trying to decide between Tate and Reito. Manga handled it WAY better.
Like in Otome, with Aoi, Tomoe, Sergey and Erstin all surviving, HIME's ending cheapened all the emotions the characters and the audience went through.
also, that was in My-Otome and the girl on the bed is not Natsuki
And when she had some time to think about it, she went to stop Shizuru out of love, not hatred. Because she realized that her actions had hurt Shizuru more than Shizuru had ever hurt (or could hurt) her.
you can't be serious
Otome was better.
Erstin didn't survive. Aoi and Sergay did, but Erstin is still quite dead.
>>10136938 Everybody coming back cheapened it and reversed all character development.
No it didn't, as has already been pointed out.
>Erstin didn't survive
poor Erstin ;__;
Drunk women don't wake up from it all the time. Natsuki was extremely unconscious. Shizuru did something to her, even if it was just kissing Natsuki's naked body all over. Natsuki was barely conscious when she saw Shizuru over her moving closer, and then passed out like a light. Shizuru made her move then. Reito didn't take Mai, while Shizuru DID. The whole point of the scenes!
Forcing oneself on another for any sexual act is rape.
ONE YEAR DIFFERENCE!
Fuck no, you are one of the most forgettable Sunrise series ever made!
>The defining characteristic of Mai's entire character is that she's the nicest fucking person on the planet
... right up until she decides she will become a fucking ASSASSIN if that is what it takes to regain what she has lost (Takumi). Remember that part? Back when the show was GOOD?
Then, she loses everything else she loved (Tate), and wrests true strength from the depths of empty despair, and thus she manages to forgive Mikoto. But it's not forgiveness because she's "nice", it's because she knows the suffering they've both been put through.
... but at the end, you're right, she's nothing more than the nicest person on earth. LOL RESET.
Someone didn't eat their Wheaties.
Indeed. In fact, it makes some things a lot more powerful because characters were given a second chance at life, a chance to move on from where they were and grow. None of the characters had the relationships they wanted with their Most Important Person but the opportunity for it has been returned to them.
slowpoke samefag is slowpoke
fucking EPIC scene! i cried girly tears
The reset ending is the only thing i didnt liked in Hime.
Couse during the eps i thought "holy shit they are all fucking dieing, this is awesome". And then they all come back and ruin the carnage that was orchested before.
LOL Sunrise. Expect the same with Geass R2 and Gundam 00.
Lies. The first one to "die" had a perfect romance.
I was totally fooled by reverse trap-chan.
I have no idea what you people are talking about.
Perhaps the manga ACTUALLY MAKES SENSE what are the ... *Sunrise* ... oh.
Seconds before this image is an interior shot of the structure, where both SHizuru and Natsuki are fully clothed. Shizuru had watched Natsuki drift off to sleep as she contemplated recent events. She took the risk of getting close enough but not quite kissing Natsuki. They then cut to this shot of what it looks like in silhouette, which also happens to be what it means to Shizuru.
You only see rape if you want to see rape. If you want to see rape, go read that doujinshi, faggots.
You understand that the anime was not based on the manga, right?
One could argue they really didn't (too shy, only an unexpected move by a third party even brought that out and just so they could eliminate her from the running at that). But that whole situation was Not As Planned as far as the Carnival went. Even Nagi was upset by that turn of events.
It seems that way ... I know Otome is certainly not but it seems Hime got it as bad.
No, I mean that the manga did not exist prior to the anime, they were both created at the same time by the staff at Sunrise, then the manga project was handed off to some artist to draw. Same with the Otome manga.
Why is Akira so fappable?
The "death" was Not As Planned, but that's irrelevant to my point. You had said:
>None of the characters had the relationships they wanted with their Most Important Person
... when one couple was doing just fine.
Of course, the angst-free couple had to be killed off first. This makes sense and is justified by the narrative. I don't have a problem with it, I'm just pointing out that they did exist.
How could you be fooled with hips like that?
Its simply a question of the manga ending up with a tighter plot that even makes some sense as the Anime is a plot trainwreck ...
Just shows how Sunrise can come up with concepts and ideas but their writers are simply too incompetent to do anything but go copy/paste the original Gundam plot into it.
But people are allowed to die in Gundam.
