Is this the greatest anime ever produced?
if you are 5 years old or a hopeless nostalgia fag, sure it is
you don't have to be a child to enjoy DBZ. It's got great action, fight sequences, great story and amazing characters. Nothing will ever compare to the fight scenes and action in DBZ.
>not loving your first shonen
Someone wasn't touched by their uncle, I bet you feel so goddamn special for being normal.
Because it's so hard to draw flashing specks throwing air at each other right?
Did anyone else think the series was extremely racist with racial genocide, and racial purity bullshit. I swear most 4channers are racist because of this, thinking they're some sort of special saiyan from Childhood
Naruto, One Peice, Bleach... All much more interesting in combat, also better shows. DMZ is all same all episodes.
it is hard to do it right which DBZ did greatly with right amount of tension
it had a great plot
I never actually watched the show but I know the story from all the games. I did watch a few episodes and a movie though.
Manga Dragon Ball was a pretty fucking good shonen.
Anime Dragon Ball kinda sucked.
Powerlevel fights are the dumbest shit, fights where techniques are used situationally and differently each time are more interesting. Think pre soundnin kidnap arch in naruto and one piece. Dragon-ball never really had any internal physics that meant anything.
To be honest, part of the reason I enjoyed DBZ was because of it's raw sledgehammer approach to action. In a manga like DBZ, you expect things to be over the top, where as in Naruto, technique and strategy made fore a better approach to fight scenes compared to its desire to emulate DBZ (funny considering Kishimoto is a big fan of the series) as it dragged on
Newfag here. Anything similar to this with great action/sci-fi elements?
>Dragon Ball (Great)
>Frieza (pretty good)
>Boo (pretty good)
Dr. Slump >>>>>>> all
Wow, original sound effects.
It's not even the best shounen anime ever produced.
It's not even the best part in its story, that would be Dragonball
Say what you will about Dragonball Z, but no one can deny it's popularity. Even people that don't watch anime know Goku, Frieza, and Vegeta. It's been a decade since the anime ended, and games, movies, and toys, are still made based on it. Even hollywood became involved with the series, with the shitfest known as DBZ Evolution. It has near unlimited replay value, and no other anime has been able to garner an audience on the magnitude DBZ did. Thanks to DBZ, many western audiences became anime fans. DBZ saved anime, and it'll do it again.
or, you know, if you have good taste
I wonder what triggered the world-wide popularity in the first place.
Transforming aliens and martial arts.
It's the french version, sounds effects sucked.
Based Krilin here.
Amusing how there's only 4 or 5 original characters pictured here, all saiyans, the rest being some sort of fusion of them. Really shows how the power level creep and SSJ nonsense ruined the show.
Doesn't change that it's not even the best shounen
was krillin the strongest human? or was it Pan?
on a side note, why was there never a side story with Master Roshi in his prime?
was the best, a vast majority still believe it is. English dub was fantastic as well, which is rare for anime.
>a vast majority still believe it is
Probably because they haven't watched more shounen than DBZ leading to that belief in the first place
I enjoyed it when it was airing on TV but that has been more than 10 years ago.
I prefer Dragonball over DBZ now.
ok you crossed the fucking line here
Pan was 1/4 Saiyan.
I think Krilin is the strongest from Saiyan saga to Cell Saga but after that, he stops training and Tenshinhan eventually get stronger than him.
He could defeat him with Kienzan though.
It's actually been almost twenty years since DBZ ended, not a decade
>Ocean dub was fantasic
I sincerely hope you're referring to the Ocean dub, because if you are, then I agree with you. but if you're referring to the Funimation dub, then you just went full pleb
OP did everything better. DBZ has little to no world building(no room for discussion), less innovative fights/abilities and only focuses on Goku to save the day. Nothing unexpected ever happens.
The Dragonballs are also the biggest deus ex machina ever created.
>It's got great action, fight sequences, great story and amazing characters. Nothing will ever compare to the fight scenes and action in DBZ.
now fuck off dragontard!
those slow fights are boring as shit compared to DBZ
I started watching DBZ was I was like 12 because nothing else was on in the early 00s and this would air around 5PM, where most stations that aired cartoons on weekday afternoons would conclude the time block (Fox, UPN, WB, WGTW, PBS, etc.). Even then, when WGTW was airing something like Gilligan's Island reruns, it would win out half the time.
lol, 3 episodes to charge an attack isn't slow?
i think i'll stick with one piece, stuff actually happens in it~
The story was just a build up for Goku fighting the new most powerful whatever in the universe, the characters were generic and one dimensional the fights were pretty much the same powerlevel aura screaming energy beam HAAAAAAAAAAAA! even today generic shounen have better action scenes.
DBZ was shit, DB is the real deal.
>shit tier character design: the anime
It's not like everything can be fixed with the dragonballs right?
if we are talking about very long series (110+ eps) than yes, dragonball is by far the best one ever produced (followed by sailormoon)
Worst post of the day
>implying that the dragon ball will gain a new fanbase older that 12~
>implying that the Dragon Ball franchise character designs are any better~
>implying the dragon ball franchise has any kind of complex story line.
Fuck off Dragontard
what about detective whats his name? (with over 1000)
>Nothing will ever compare to the fight scenes and action in DBZ
Precure has better fight/action scenes than DBZ ever had.
Detective Conan doesn't have over 1,000 episodes.
ah i misread~
pretty close though
