Just finished watching Jin-Roh for the first time.
I thought it was pretty good, but not great. The animation and artstyle were both fucking superb, but I wasn't expecting that much red riding hood.
What's your thought on this movie?
Excellent film. A twisted and poetic retelling of Little Red Riding Hood with some political context thrown in. Those expecting a fast-paced action movie will be disappointed.
9/10, would watch again.
9.5/10, pic related.
Oh yeah, forgot to add, that ost was amazing.
Fantastic animation as well as sound work. The atmosphere it creates is superb. As far as the story goes it's very Japanese in the whole internal politics department so some of it does get lost in translation if you aren't big on shows with that kind of theme.
>some political context
It was a pretty nice watch. I loved how realistic the character animation was, a lot of the movement had this sense of weight that's rare in animation.

>I loved how realistic the character animation was, a lot of the movement had this sense of weight that's rare in animation
Because it's rotoscoped.
Watch Aku no hana if you like this shit.
It was done right and didn't break immersion.
Your complaint is silly and unwarranted.
It's really good, if a little overrated.
I got kind of lost in the intrigue my first time watching, second watch was much better.
Jin-Roh isn't rotoscoped, silly.
>A first turning point was his stint as animation director of Jin-Roh, to the animation of which he brought a level of scrupulous attention to detail never seen before in an anime film in order to ensure that realism was maintained at every moment ♦ An action recorder was used assiduously throughout the movie to verify the accuracy of key animation, but none of the animation was rotoscoped, and in fact most of the animation is at a rate of 3 frames/cel
Same animation director that did GITS, too.
So good people think it's rotoscoped. That a compliment in disguise, I guess.
Ben doesn't know shit about animation.
I don't why sakugafags love to suck his dick so much.
>So good people think it's rotoscoped
So why didn't they just rotoscope instead?
Because there's a difference between rotoscoping and realistic animation.
And only faggots would rotoscope.
Tetsuya Nishio was the animation director for Jin-Roh, but he did participate in the various GITS shows. Hiroyuki Okiura directed Jin-Roh and was the animation director for the GITS movies.
>k-on reaction image
Is this some kind of shit posting?
I hate how a thread that could have discussed the story of Jin-Roh, which is really why this movie is praised in the first place, is so easily derailed with shitflinging about the animation. Apply yourself, /a/.
>giving a fuck
I don't care what they're from, I have them for the reactions, you queer.
Same reason people out there still make furniture by hand instead of on an assembly line.
I'm pretty sure Jin-Roh is praised for its animation too but yeah, shame about the shitposting.
Stupid people, they are.
Bahi > Okiura
>no eye for real quality
Once again Jin Roh brings out the plebs in force.
Are any of the other movies worth watching?
Expected action thriller got a character drama instead.
Have you seen any Satoshi Kon film? Give them a go if you haven't.
Millennium Actress is the only good one, just so you know.
Watch Letter to Momo if you like rotoscoping.
And maybe Ralph Bakshi's films while you're at it.
Can't say that I have.
I've been meaning to watch Paprika for a while though.
Dream Colored Bunny
Paprika is kinda mediocre. You're better off watching either Millennium Actress, Perfect Blue, or Tokyo Godfathers.
Nevermind, I've seen Memories before. Which I thought was amazing.
Cool, I'll have to give those a try. Thanks guys.
It's my favorite movie of all time, hands down, anime or not.
It's been years since I first saw it and I still watch from time to time, mostly back to back with Sky Crawlers, no less.
I still love it just as much and have yet to get tired of it.
That's an incredibly rare opinion, though.
Fucking snorefest. Watched it because it was on the /k/ rec image. What a fucking disappointment.
Really? I was kept interested through out the whole movie. The last sewer scene was fucking intense.
What's the bottom middle TV series, anon?
Nice choices overall.
>Preparing for incoming shitstorm
That 3x3 is a bit old, anyway.
I've been watching Banner of the Stars and that's probably going to replace it.
Or maybe Blue Gender.
Cheers. If you haven't already, give Paranoia Agent a try.
So what if Arjuna isn't good? At least it's not 3x3 bait
Already watched it.
I liked it, but it isn't something I'd put that near the top, and as far as Kon's works go, Perfect Blue will always be my favorite.
What would you consider 3x3 bait?
Mushishi, Kino no Tabi, LOGH, Lain, boring shit like that
you're fucking retarded if you thougt jin Roh was rotoscoped.
How's that bait?
Bait would be garbage like Naruto or Bleach, or DxD and Maken-ki.
All those shows are pretty good.
After gunsmith cats, riding bean etc, I was really expecting some hot blooded led flying everywhere and cool RIOT POLICE PROTECTING THE PEACE. I guess I was just disappointed by the lack of action, which in hindsight was actually never advertised in the first place.
